Ive come here for 3 different shows namely 39 Steps, Radium Girls and the Nut Cracker, all of which have been held in three different auditoriums. 39 Steps has been hands down one of the best live performances Ive witnessed during my time on the west coast purely due to the seasoned performances and script. The place has free parking in addition to the ample parking in and around Castro Street. On most days, youd be able to buy a ticket directly at the ticketing centre without having to buy in advance. The place has a small cafe that serves packaged food, hot chocolate, coffee and snacks during the shows.Pro-tip: Season premiers are followed by happy hours and the chance to mingle with the cast over a glass of wine and some cookies :-)
We saw Mark Twains River of Song. The theatre is a very nice building. Parking behind the theatre was convenient. The show was a well done example of regional theater where a little creativity is welcome and huge-stage commercial success guaranteed productions are not necessary. Nicely told stories are just fine.
Stellar venue for performance art! The lobby is spacious and features photos from local artists, beautiful work. The seating is typical for a theater of this kind - a little cramped - but at every seat you will have a good view of the stage as this venue is not very large. I went there last December to see the Christmas ballet. It was such a beautiful show! It was easy to find our seats as well. Bathrooms were not too crowded. Parking garages nearby.During the intermission, I went to the bar located in the lobby for a glass of wine and the cashier/bar tender seemed overwhelmed by the influx of people that he was shouting at us like cattle for our order. In the frenzy I quickly just ordered the house red wine, which was pretty gross, especially for wine out here in California. Whats worse is I had to end up chugging it before the show began again because you cant take wine to your seat. Wine is definitely not something to be chugged, let alone nasty wine. I blame only myself for not knowing this rule as I am not sure if there were signs explicitly stating this or if it is just general knowledge that you cant take drinks into a performance.
I went to see the SMUIN Ballet series and it was incredible!!! Great performing arts center
Good place to catch a community show. Some of the shows are hit and miss but the area itself is keen for family outings. Small coffee venue close by and great yard game area for kids and adults.
Go early and enjoy the cafe after picking up tickets at Will Call.
I always see great performances here and it is very convenient to the Caltrain station
Theater Works performance outstanding. Wonderful close knit venue
Have seen lots of fun shows here, from local youth acting groups through to professional shows. Always impressed with production value. Comfortable seats, although too tight for me at 6. Snack shop is always crowded at intermission but treats are tasty.
Cozy and convenient setting to enjoy great productions. A great way to spend an evening.
Its a wonderful place for seeing and hearing. Its not too large. Only the balcony first three rows just two seats on either side of the aisles have a viewing issue, a protective rail can impede viewing
We saw Shrek - The Musical here. It was an amazing experience. My family and I were thrilled with the performance and with the theater. We even walked down and saw the orchestra down in the pit. Not many places have live musicians these days! Cant wait to come here again!
Wonderful venue for many different types of events - theater, concerts, dance, panel discussions. Local artists work is displayed in the lobby walls.
Great place to see a show! Its located in the middle of downtown and theres parking under ground. The inside is beautiful and yet simple and the sound when watching a show is great no matter where you are seated. The perfect size for a concert.
Saw a fantastic production of fun home here! Beautiful space.
Excellent venue for prose theater, both the main and secondary stages. A touch below for music due to just-ok acoustics, but many musical comedies or operettas are ok even without top notch acoustics anyway, at least to my far-from-young ears!
Really big and always have good plays showing.
We saw another Theatreworks play., 39 Steps, it was well done and the venue was great. Worth the trip.
Hershey Felder is a GENIUS! His storytelling & piano performance are superior. The venue is nice, nothing ornate, but well equipped with raked seating, good acoustics and lighting.
Nice layout with good underground parking.
Excellent performance space with programs that soon a large range. Theatre, music, dance, all in the heart of Mountain View. Close to good restaurants. (All this and easy free parking under the theatre!)
Awesome place, very near the Mountain view downtown, train &bus stations &lot of restaurants &of course a very big garden space, enjoyed the visit here
Its wonderful being here. This is a real community.
Excellent venue with very good seats and free basement parking. Only a short walk to dozens of restaurants, with a nice park to relax in just behind the theater.
Great venue, well-maintained, with medium-sized mainstage and good acoustics. Beautiful airy atrium that often has separate art exhibits. Theres a good cafe attached (Bean Scene), where Ive always gotten a good cup of coffee. Parking is easy and free underground (with a whole bunch of EV chargers as well -- those arent free). This is always a nice place to see a show!
Nice place with a good variety of entertainment. Next to a little park that leads to the library. A good traditional favorite.
My friend has season tickets so shell take me often to go see shows. I really like this spot. Every show weve been to his ranged from good to great. the restaurants in the area are also really good and varied, but it is mountain view so theyre expensive; and by that I mean way overpriced. Ive never had to pay for tickets so Im not sure how the prices are, but if you can afford it I highly recommend getting out there. Parking isnt great but there is a parking lot half a block down if you get there early enough. The restaurants are so close you could park and then walk between the restaurants and the theater.
A very good place to enjoy a play or musical. Prices are very accessible, plenty of parking and location is central. I normally combine my visits to this place with a dinner on castro st. Support the arts!! they have special discount if you are under 35!
I usher for MVCPA, and this is such s beautiful facility for Theater Works presentations, the Smuin Ballet, Hershey Felder, and so many other local companies and theater groups who put on important programs and entertainment in this very special theater right in the middle of downtown Mountain View.
We love the intimacy of this theatre and the fun works they host. We come here a lot for PYT performances and the youth always impress us.
Wonderful theater. Saw Hershey Felder perform A Paris Love Story-- so emotionally moving.
This is a great community theater venue with excellent acoustics, a smallish but versatile stage, and a fantastic staff. The seating is a bit close but comfortable, and the facility is always well maintained and clean. We have seen a few shows here, and are happy to come back when we are in town.
Nice venue. Ample parking in the area. Inside the theater the walkway is a little steep to find your seats. Seats are pretty comfortable. The courtyard out in front is nice but they need to find a way to reinvent the fountain if they arent going to actually run water through it anymore (understandable as it conserves water), its a bit of an eyesore in its current state.
Wonderful little theatre with ample underground parking. Lost opportunity for more lively activity associated with the cafe--why not add more outdoor seating and perhaps music on the plaza? Redwood City provides a great model for the type of ambiance the setting would draw.
Good luck finding a bad seat. Consistently good productions. Ample parking underground garage. Plethora of food options on Castro street. Cafe adjoining with standard cafe offerings, beer and wine.
Its a great venue. Not too big. Saw Hershey Felder. Brilliant! We come here quite often for TheaterWorks...
Excellent facility. Very nice theater
Smuin ballet...always fantastic. Eclairs at the cafe are great treat. At least on Sundays there is plenty of underground parking.
The SURPLUS store is fantastic specially for selling armys gear and camping stuff.Prices are good and fair
Lovely weather for Families Belong Together event. Excellent location. Attentive and responsive crowd. Lets see if the immigrant haters are listening to the people of the Mountain View, CA area.
Love lyric and lamplighters. The MVCPA premium on tickets is a bit high, though, especially online.
Great venue for plays.. Only complaint is how warm it gets inside. When I was there they had the AC turned off and when a building is full of people it gets hot quick. Especially on the balcony level.
The envy of the Peninsula & the South Bay. Set next to the elegant City of Mountain VIew. Great place to enjoy theatre. Close to restaurants and night clubs. Ample parking
Great venue for shows. Just saw Hershey Felder- he was amazing!!
There was a protest held here against Nazis (never thought Id need to write those words). The Nazis did not show up. The cops were here with a barricade. It was a little intimidating. However. Once in the courtyard, this is a nice public space for speakers. The building formed a nice shade -- despite a lot of sun that day, everyone found some shade. The acoustics was clear.
This is a strong Community Theater whos show selection includes a fair number of odd balls. The it can be frustrating when youre trying to see the classics but the variety can be quite enjoyable. The venue is small enough to allow for a more intimate experience.
Almost every seat in the house is a good seat; I prefer the Balcony myself. The facility has its own underground free parking and it is easily accessible from the highway. The tickets are moderately priced and TheatreWorks is the main production company in this theater.
Wonderful Performing Arts venue with a focus on stage productions. The venue has two stages different stages for performances and wide variety of shows.
Was my first time at this venue and thought it was very pleasant. It felt like there was not a bad seat in the house. Will definitely return again.
Good play. Cleverly done.
Had a wonderful experience, the venue is so cozy. Good stage an interesting play today. FINK, makes you think. Actors are so talented, enjoyed everything.
Especially theaterworks 50th, Hershey Felders A Paris Love Story- Debussy!!!!
State of the art live performance theatre with top-drawer productions. Many of the productions are new works that will go on to bigger venues. See them here first!
One of the growing network if nice regional performance halls in the Bay Area. Several parking lots nearby and many nice restaurants within a few blocks. All the seats are good, good sized stage.
Beautiful venue, easy, free parking, and a fantastic Hershey Felder performance.
Good Theater Works programs.
Excellent venue for lectures and performances. Convenient underground parking.
Comfortable but small. Easy parking a few blocks away.
Performances were great. Place itself has conditioning issue. At least me as allergic and sensitive to dust person cant stay there without antiallergic meds.
Great venue and Ive seen Broadway quality productions there in occasion
CPA is a small theater, all seats have excellent unobstructed views with good ticket value. Theaterworks has great outstanding productions!
Cant paint the town red without watching a performance here. Offers a plethora of shows from simple local playhouses for children to professional, national, even worldwide actors, singers, musicians, speakers. Narrow but tall lobby showcase art exhibits, upper level gives a feeling of grandeur walking up the curved staircase. Small adjoining cafe offers intermission snacks and drinks. Becare careful when choosing the very end of the row seating because the view can be obstructed a bit. During Christmas time Santa Clause makes a photo-op visit for all the little children.
We watched Smuins Christmas Ballet with our 5-year old grandson and we all loved it
Great venue. Smaller but very well laid out. Easy to access. Great restaurants in the vicinity. Very comfortable. Eclectic selection of shows.
Beautiful place, nice people
When attending events at the MVCPA, I enjoy the underground parking, walking access to many restaurants, the well-cared-for condition of the facility and the comfort, sightlines and spoken word acoustics of the theater. I regularly attend TheatreWorks productions at this venue.
TheatreWorks and Smuin keep me coming back!
Beautiful place. Good sound and viewing in every seat. There are pockets of icy cold air conditioning so bring a shawl or extra sweater especially on hot days.
Last season and this season plays of Theatre works have been world class... I am proud and privileged to be a member of Theater works....
Lovely location in a park. Two theaters. Rotating art by local artists. Cafe with wine and beer. Underground parking.
Very nice playhouse. Free parking underneath. Seats uncomfortable (too deep) for short adults.
A real asset to the community. Just the right size.
Balcony seats had good visibility, but the heat was on so high that I was fighting to stay awake during the show. Parking was super easy, and the location is great for dinner and post-show dessert.
Front row for Hershey Felder! Awesome
Had a wonderful experience visiting and seeing the show The Prince of Egypt. The theater is spacious with good views of the stage (even in the balcony) and the venue itself was nice.
Beautiful theatre with comfortable seating and good acoustics. The play, Finks by Joe Guilford, was a superb portrayal of the HUAC hearings and their impact on individuals. We also had the bonus experience of a Q&A with the playwright after the performance. Altogether a wonderful evening of theater.
Very nice, small theater. Not a bad seat in the house!
Conveniently located in downtown Mountain View, just a block from restaurants and a few blocks from Caltrain and light rail station.Comfortable seats, good acoustics, and good visibility of the state from pretty much any seat in the house.Coffee and snacks (pastries etc) sold in small cafe right next to ticket window.
Great community theater.
I visited here after a photoshoot I did for a family. This place is spacious and clean.
Beautiful theater, close to lots of restaurants and cafes for treats before or after
Always a thrill either on the stage or to sit in the audience.
Outdoor activities here frequently, always fun
Attended the Smuin Christmas Ballet. The CPA is a perfect for this beautiful show. It has become an annual holiday tradition
Very Nice Accessible Building
Very nice theater and comfy seats.
Great place for a date or a show with friends.
Beautiful place great shows.
Great for Peninsula Youth Theatre childrens performances.
We were at the smaller theater for a comedy show. Seats are not so comfy, but the bigger theater is much better.
Beautiful theater with good acoustics and comfortable seats. The attached café is pleasant and is also a nice place to wait if you are taking someone to a show but not attending.
Pretty old facility so seats are closely together. However I like the size of the theatre. We did Messiah Sing here and the audience sounded almost professional.
I have tickets to the POST lecture series and I have a problem. I cant hear the speakers when they move away from the podium. The hearing device that you provide does not work with the lapel mic. Sometimes the speaker stays behind the podium and I can hear just fine, but some of them insist on moving to the side or they walk around and I definitely can not hear. The sound is plenty loud but the words are garbled. The April 13 lecture will be impossible for me as the speaker will be in the middle of the stage being interviewed. The Performing Arts Center should make sure all of their equipment supports the hearing impaired. I love your theater except for this problem. I have enjoyed many of the lectures, but the ones that depend on the lapel mic drive me crazy. Can you get a better mic for those speakers who cant use the podium mic? (I talked to another person who checked out your device and he had the exact same problem that I had.)
Only here for training, seems like a good performance venue
Beautiful building and a great place to watch a show. We came here to watch Smuin ballet in the main theater. All the seats have great views and the staff is polite and helpful. Well be back!!
This is a super theater complex. It has food and excellent parking! And the programs offered are excellent!
