Course is in good shape right now for end of year. Tee boxes were all playable, even with the recent rain the course played solid. During the summer, this is a good course to get out and walk around. Not too long, but they use the natural landscape well with the layout.
Nice, well kept course. Im not a great golfer but I enjoy it. I didnt feel the pressure here from super serious golfers as I have at other courses. It had its challenging holes with short pars in between to give a little break.
Cant beat sunny and 70° in November in Chicago! Where better to spend it than on a beautiful golf course with good friends!
What a surprise first 3 holes were in need of work but the rest of the course was great
Nice but could use some water after a hot day.
The course has come a long was in the last 15 years, go back 20 and it was Terrible, the greens are the best they have ever been, they rangers do a good job now to control the flow, its over all a good course, not great yet, but soon I think
Several of the par 4s were pretty short but the course also has some pretty technical holes as well
Its a fine course. Over the years, just not that well maintained and the amount of little helicopters from the trees and not maintained is crazy. Maybe half the greens are riddled with these pesky things. Plus it floods a lot.
One of the better cheap courses. Tight fairways.
Course is in good shape, nice putting green, open fairways, enough challenges.
Fairways are in poor condition.Greens in fair shape
Very nice today staff friendly course played quickly,
Always a fun course, played at a quick pace.
A nicely laid out course, even if its a little short. Stays interesting with a pretty setting. Greens are pretty well maintained and putt fairly. Well worth it
Friendly & helpful staff....
Wer love Chick The staff is Great Hole#3 mot loved so much !
A course is made by the staff it has. Any golf course can be great with proper leadership. This course is the worst course I have ever played and it has nothing to do with the course. Leadership is lacking. You have no ranger to enforce speed of play. They enforce policies like a $10 rider fee, even to a person using only 1 cart and they let him out at 715am by himself. Returning the cart, there are no signs, no beverage cart. The kitchen is the pro shop, what else do I say. If you can lower your expectations of the humans at the course, the actual course is nice, fun play.
Public course, part of the Forest Preserve. Tree lined course. Not super long, good value for money.
Nice course.
Apart from the notoriously difficult par 5 number 3 hole, the course is fun to play.Nice variety of holes, with the par 3, number 10 and 18 holes over water, which can be challenging. Recommended this course.Swiss Steve
Not a country club course by any means but very nice. I would definitely play again if I lived nearby.
Love the Forest Preserve Courses. This one is in the middle. But always great people and a good time. Somewhat challenging, but its not like I am that great. If I break 100 I did well. Always cool people hanging around here.
Cool place
Greens are slow. Fairways are either dirt or badly trimmed. Bunkers are rocks or have little sand.
One of the best courses in its price range. And very nice experience for this time a year!
Great golf course with good bang for the buck. Fairways are and greens are in decent shape. I prefer the course over Indian Boundary because its a great value and to me, its less crowded than IB. Downsides? No sand bunkers anywhere. YMMV.
Usually can get good deals, okay course for the price.
Course is in bad shape.
Good times
Course plays show but its usually in decent condition. They could really benefit from having a ranger on weekends. Prices are well worth it and t the layout is enjoyable
A decent course to practice on or catch a quick round & good for beginners but is NOT in particularly good shape, better golfers with will be dissatisfied with the course conditions- short and fairly easy-.
That is nice when starts the season trees changing colors beutifull.
Golf course is older and short. But well maintained. Played quite a few times in 2013 and the management and staff are great. I think its unfair that the other google review is a neighbor who from the looks of it doesnt have a clue about golf. What do you expect from having a house next to a golf course. Go figure.Course needs more work but it has improved greatly from previous years. Very competitively priced and in my opinion all around decent course for its price range. If youre expecting 5 star treatment, then find another course and prepare to pay in the 100s.Please golfers reviewers only, not local neighbors wanting to complain. Grow some trees or sound proof your house.
Had a 9:30 tee time, didnt get on the course until after 10:00. Then almost 5 hours to play. Except for the areas that always flood, course was in good shape. Glad we didnt pay full rate. Lots of better options for $40+. But for $25, was ok.
Great course, pretty cost effective. 18 holes that plays pretty quick. Location is a big plus here. Not a terribly difficult course. Chicago River bisects about 4 holes here, so bring extra golf balls. Overall a great play and Ive seen them on Groupon recently.
Nice public course. Decent rates. Kept up well. In the forest preserve, so its pretty as well. I actually enjoy some of the longer cart paths through the woods between holes.
Super fun course, & great staff!
If you like to golf and golf Street this is your course. Typical public course. Overgrown grass overgrown fairways overgrown greens don’t get too excited about this place. It’s exactly what you expect out of a public course. The price however is very very reasonable. So if you need to just practice your game without breaking the bank this is the course for you
I catch frogs here at 2 am just wish it wasnt a boomer sport area
For a public course, it is kept in very good condition and offers a decent challenge for the price. However, most of the challenge of the course comes as a result of its urban setting: avoiding roads that hug some fairways, teeing off into power lines, etc. Plus, it can take well over 5 hours for a round. Still, it is a good place to bring novice golfers and have a good time out on the course.
Awesome forest preserve course. Short 18 holes, and great meeting ground for city folk meeting suburban folk for a round.
Hope they hire me.
My sons and I played this course a lot this summer because kids 17 and under play free at certain times. Of course I prefer to play at nicer courses with longer and tougher par 4s, but Chick Evans is a fun run. Most of the par 4s are short, but they still have their challenges. One par 4 is so short its almost a long par 3. Watch out. Some of the greens are tricky and have some subtle breaks. The phrase You get what you pay for definitely applies to this course.
Not a golf course. More like a badly maintained park with stagnant water and tire ruts in the grass
Great value (Keep an eye out for them on Groupon). Sometimes the course can be backed up, but thats golf. I would also recommend bug spray and to remember to tell FORE.
This is fun 18 hole golf course, whether you are a beginner or weekly golfer this place is nice. The park as a whole is small but the way the 18 holes loops around make it seem bigger than it really is. The Chicago river runs through the course with makes a few holes challenging to say the least. The staff is always real nice and the prices are extremely fair, make sure you check their website for specials.
Again the phones got me had a golf course I have never been to God if I had that kind of money
Love this course and very well priced
Course is in good shape a couple of challenging holes one of my favorite county courses
I rated this a 4....its definitely one of the nicest cook county forest preserve golf courses...Id give a higher rating if the grounds were in better shape.Definitely a good value...worth the money
Nice course. Not long, but has some challenging holes. Great staff!
A good walk spoiled!
Great course so close to the city. Peaceful and tranquil. The disgruntled neighbor should move. She must have not noticed the golf course when she purchased her home. Thats what happens on a golf course
Good place for a quick round of golf. Somewhat short but still challenges the average golfer.
Very nice 18 hole course! currently you need to be aware of bugs are in the area.
Easy course that you can get through quickly.
Decent when in good shape. Right now, worst ive seen it.
Chick you need to train your staff better. They didnt even know what a slope rating is.
They have bothered to fix the fairway on hole 3 since the flood last year, very disappointing. Still need a ranger on the course makes for very slow and not fun golf.
Public golf course boasting first year of profit...at the cost of alienating the homes around it by mowing grass & blowing leaves at 4:30 am. The greens routinely flood with a heavy rain. And yes, I,m a disgruntled neighbor. But I have heard nothing good about the course from users except it,s relatively cheap & you get what you pay for. For this ... we loose sleep.
Great course when its not packed. When it is, be prepared to wait on the 3rd hole, 5th hole, 9th hole, 10th hole, 14th hole....will take over 5hrs to play. Get there early if you want to play 4hrs or less. Get there later if you want to waste 5+hrs.
Good course and well run operation! Thanks Chick Evans personnel!
Muddy as hell, which was to be expected so early in the season.. or really out of season. The cart was trashed when we got it... When we got back to the office to drop stuff off it was closed and we had to leave the cart on the side of the building. Its like come on, have someone there to check carts back in.
Nice place to play golf!
With a break from rain the greens are benefiting. Plus most fairways.
As FPD courses go this is a good one.
Great golfing experience for a reasonable price.
One of the best courses in its price range.
Very nice experience for this time a year
Beautiful place and clean.
Course is very wet, no roll.
Good local course, but gets crowded and not very long.
