Mountain air, great course, the grounds are immaculate, staff is Above & Beyond friendly and very helpful. The condo to which we stayed in was perfect. Everything that you need is here

Positive: LOCATION Negative: NOT AS CLEAN AS EXPECTED.

Here is a list of issues we had with our stay. The entire condo uses gas, there is only one smoke detector in the entire condo, there are no Carbon Monoxide detectors in the condo. We had to call for a maintenance man, who was 34 miles away, to light a pilot light on the fireplace. There was water damage in the master bathroom ceiling, there was a non working bedside lamp in the master bedroom. The back sliding glass door did not lock. The wallpaper was curling throughout the place, there was a hole in second bathroom wall where the towel rack was ripped out of the wall and not patched. The depth of the steps inside the condo is short. In general the entire place needs to be updated. The customer service was average at best. I have stayed in worse which is why I gave a 3 star.

This resort has been here for years and it shows. It has just been purchased and a new owner is in place, but nothing new yet. They over market what is there, but they have the basics. Nice place to stay if you are looking for a three star resort. Marriott downtown is much better. The urinal in the bathroom has been out of service forever.

I stayed here while out of town for work. Got in at 7pm. It was a ghost town. Maybe a handful of guests, yet I was put in a room across the resort. The bar and grill was closed . Bed extremely uncomfortable in a room that wasnt very clean, cigarette burns all over the bathroom countertop. Bathroom so small I could barely get into it. Toilet was so low it was like sitting on the ground. I wont be staying again.

We checked into our room pretty late, staff member who checked us in was friendly. The hallway to our room had many lights that were out-which made checking in at 11pm pretty spooky. Room was clean, shower/bathroom was all very short to the ground, my husband is 6’2” which made things a bit uncomfortable for him. Overall room was just ok.Golf course staff was friendly. Course views of Cheat Lake were awesome! Women’s tees were very unkept, greens were aerated recently which was fine but there were lots of dry patches all over the greens. Cool course fun to play, pretty challenging course even for avid golfers. Ladies are in for some long holes.

Very clean and nice accommodations. We had a issue with the a/c not working in the room and they quickly moved us and complementary upgraded us rooms. The pool is very large and clean. We also received a free round of golf and a golf cart. Wonderful and very helpful staff. Great food. We enjoyed it so much we booked a full week here.

The golf resort has a very lovely terrain and background, which are perfect for taking memorable pictures. The receptionists at the main lobby are very helpful and very welcoming. While some of the hotel rooms are quiet old, your reserved rooms can easily be changed for you. What’s more? It is cheaper to reserve the room on third party website like Priceline or hotel.com than from the main website. Also, the resort is located at the outskirts of Morgantown, which makes far away from the buzz of the town.

If you need anything for golf other then hats and shirts good luck.

Positive: It felt haunted Negative: WiFi barely worked, whole place very shabby and run-down. No free breakfast or coffee.

Good people. New ownership (don’t know much about them). Slick, fast greens and well kept fairways. Not overly penal when you kiss a fairway wide - all “tree” areas are able to find your ball under if you keep an eye on it. Bunkers could use a good redo, but all played consistent even if not Augusta white sand. Good value and scenic layout between $55-$65.

Positive: Itâ€s potential. Both front desk attendants I dealt with were very professional, positive and friendly. Negative: Felt dirty, unloved. But there is potential!

Resort is on the older side, but overall the hotel rooms are as youd expect. Everything worked as it should. The front desk people are nice and professional. Although most the vending machines did not work. But overall id stay here again.

It a bit aged location. Nothing fancy. Out dated furniture. Nice area but the rooms needs updating.

For the age of the property, 1956, it has overall good upkeep, friendly staff and wonderful views. Very quiet and restful experience.

Positive: Golf course located right outside doors to hotel. Golf prices reasonable and re-tee fees available. Negative: Course in poor condition. Resort dated. Many locals not friendly and openly aggressive. No food available at hotel. 10 minute walk to a nice restaurant located on 10th tee.

Positive: Location Negative: Did not provide enough linens, put us on the 3rd floor when the hotel was completely empty(10 cars in lot.).

The positives: staff was friendly and apologetic, Room was meh, price was low.Went there for an overnight getaway in heat wave (97 degrees) even though most of the resort was closed we made it clear on the phone that we were really coming to use the pool. Got there at 4pm, pool closed at 6. That would have been nice to know. Also, pool opens at 12 the next day. After again making it clear we had come in a heat wave to use the pool, they agreed to open the pool at 10. We stayed out way too late and would have liked to have slept in but felt like we told them to open at 10, we should be at pool at 10. Pool opened at 12. The girl that promised us actually started on vacation that day, and there’s no one to complain to because the pool is not managed by the resort. They let us check out late which was nice. We were told on the phone there was a fridge in the room- there was not, and there would be coffee available, there was brown water and they had to go find sugar and cream. So we drove to Starbucks 5 miles away while we waited 2 hours for the pool to open. Stains on the dust ruffle, garbage cans overflowing in pool area, lovely view of the parking through foggy windows. For $100, I guess you get what you pay for. As we were leaving a staff member told us “we are what we are.” True.

Loved the resort! Great room at a great price! Can seem like a maze inside lol but didn’t take too long to figure out, because of the weather the outdoor was closed a lot of my stay but that wasn’t their fault of course... beautiful place, right beside Cheat lake. Very calm, serene, and peaceful! Definitely will be back ASAP!

We just checked into a time share unit. It hadnt been vacuumed. The vacuum cleaner was clogged full of hair which I had to unclog in order to use it to clean the carpets so we could stay. (after a long drive we didnt want to get back in the car for another 6 hours) There were bits of crackers and other items all over the carpet. Dead bugs at the baseboard and doorways. The kitchen had food in the sink. The dining room table had not been wiped clean. The latch to the sliding door to the porch was broken and held on by one very loose screw. To put it mildly, this place is disgusting. In managements defense, they offered to move us to a different unit but we had spent 20+ minutes unloading the car with coolers and suitcases and then cleaned the place from top to bottom. No energy left to reload the car and then go back to the check in building and then start over.No energy to drive home. Will not be driving back here once we do go home. So far, nothing else from management for the inconvenience.

Very friendly staff. Great vacation place for family or friends or couples. Very comfortable beds nice clean rooms. And the golf course was amazing with a great bar to get some drinks or good food. Five stars

Nice resort on a beautiful Golf course. Timeshare townhouses are older but ours was very clean. Beds were a bit uncomfortable but we were only there 2 nights. If I were there a week it would have been more of an issue.

Horrific experience! 1st room - missing mirror, holes in wall, no toilet paper, no towels, hot and humid, no electricity in the main halls. No one could see their rooms. Came to front desk and was told “I can’t do anything about mirror but can give you TP & Towels. What?! Manager was called and he said reassign does we were sent to a 2nd room - arrived to find note on door “under construction do not enter” come back to desk to same rude personnel who said “I’ve only been here 2 months what do you want me to do?” Really?! More people now in line. Still no answer. She offers me a key to go find another room to see if it works for me?!?! Seriously?! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Do not stay here! They will not honor their commitment and their hospitality staff have no clue what the definition of hospitality means.

Friendly service. Priceline charged me more, so go ahead book at the hotel it costs less than Priceline charges you.

The unit was spacious. Many updates are apparent, however many more are needed. A good painting job and new carpet would do wonders.

9/17 - 9/26/2020Facilities are run down - appear tidy, but are not cleanRoom was not stocked for the length of our stay. Front desk staff was ill-informed as to what their COVID policy was regarding servicing/cleaning the room.Overheard an employee (who was vacuuming) state he was not going to clean something. The next day there was an out of service sign on a lobby bathroom stall - which was clearly the mess he was not going to clean.I understand hotels have different COVID policies - but the staff should be educated and not contradict one another. Upon check-in, we were not informed of any changes in cleaning due to COVID. The second night we were told they only service the rooms after 3 nights. After our 3rd night, we were told they arent servicing the rooms at all.A chance encounter with a manager was unproductive. He was argumentative and dismissive. He indicated there was signage regarding their policy; however in 5 trips to the front desk none were viewed.If you arent servicing rooms, the room should be stocked with the necessary soap, toilet paper, and linens for the length of stay. Guests should not have to come to the front desk every time they need fresh linens or toilet paper.I will visit Morgantown, WV again.I will not stay at this hotel.

Just played golf through golf now deal. $30.. Glad I didnt pay more. Once a very good course. Not anymore. Tees in bad shape. Lots of bare areas in rough. Fairways are just ok. Bunkers mostly bad. Greens hard and fast but lots of dead areas cropping up. Guy out chipping balls on one hole. Needs a ton of money dumped into it but I dont think that will happen

Positive: View of the lake, and the golf course. Negative: They double charged my credit card. I called the hotel they put me on hold, finally someone told me they would have to call back and no one did. I had to call again. 6 days after my stay the second charge has yet to be removed from my card.

You get what you pay for, or not. This place may have been great at one time. Not anymore. Outdated decor aside, beds are terrible, housekeeping was atrocious, the elevator broke, sink clogged, room door lock didnt work, etc. Changed rooms 3 times to find the one we were first assigned was the best option, the last one we tried was slept in. Gross on so many levels.

Checked into a dirty room. Gave us another. Card keys would keep on getting wiped out. Place is dated to the 80s. Needs alot of attention. Not like they had an overwhelming guest count. Maybe 10 cars in the lot for over 250 plus rooms.Greens on the golf course had some kind of fungus on em and the tee blocks needed some dire attention. Trash cans needed empty by the pool. Thats why the 1 star. Not up to common expectations.

I feel bad writing this as it’s clear this resort has fallen on hard times. This golf course used to rival the Pines and now would hardly pass for a municipal track. Overgrown rough, over seeded tee boxes, dandelions and clover everywhere, greens burnt to a crisp and cracked on several holes, and cart paths bumpy enough to knock your clubs off. This used to be my go-to round every Monday when i went to WVU. Hopefully they pump some money into the course and give the superintendent the budget/staff he needs to keep the course in satisfactory shape. All employees i encountered were friendly and helpful.2/5.

Quiet community with some updates in the townhouses. Very friendly responsive service people. Major stores, such as Kroger Walmart and mall, are about 8 Miles Away. A lake is about 2 miles away where people can fish. All on site: steam room sauna gym tennis court basketball court yoga room wall gym. Again not state of the art although usable.

Golf pro extremely helpful and assisted with putter grip. Beautiful course.

The main lobby it’s ok. The rooms are old and not very clean. Staff is great. The hotel needs to invest in the rooms.

This has always been a favorite course of mine, however they aren’t maintaining it well. Some dead spots on greens and fairways but overall it is a great track.

Laundry room had a foul smell.smelled like something was dead for a while. (about three days)

I liked the price-obviously out of season for this hotel. I did not see any other people around, other than the ladies at the front desk. The pool had no water in, perhaps they were doing repairs. Property is dated, needs some remodeling.

I can say this place was once a great hotel! Once!! Its very old and run down at the moment, hopefully with a lot of hard work and perseverance the owner can bring it back to the good old days. I had countless problems from stuck hot water to a room that all ready had someone in it! Trash was a big problem as well! With the covid19 going on I will give this place a pass if your looking for a comfortable place. Just look elsewhere! Its kinda like that Tik Tok music you see right before a bear jumps out to eat you! RUN!

Booked a king room, they gave us the keys and got to the room it wasnt cleaned. Went back to the front desk, they didnt have anyone to clean the room so now we have to settle for 2 double beds.

I have been there several times in the past 6 years...Brought down two couples that had never been there and was VERY disappointed...First we were not in the schedule for our Friday tee time, then Saturday morning our food was luck warm, then we went to dinner and they said several items were not available yet we were there at 6...When we checked out they told us that we had a zero balance and I left my info for the golf package guy, Don, to call me yet I had to call him when I noticed that I was charged full price two days later without a call...The course was OK based on the time of year...BIG LET DOWN

Place is dirty, dated and run down. I get you dont want to spend a lot of money updating, but how much does it cost to clean windows and pick up trash? Management should be ashamed. Nice view off decks of the lake, never mind all the trash. That window, I made the clear marks....on the inside. Who knows what their kitchen and rooms are like. The place is always having events, conferences and golfers, wonder where all the money is going, because its certainly not going to staff, upkeep or improvements

The company I work for held a regional meeting there. It is a very nice resort. The staff are very professional. Its a clean establishment. Easily accessible with plenty of parking. The indoor dining area overlooks the lake.

Negative: Not a 3.5 star hotel during the off season.

Lakeview Golf Resort was a pretty cozy place when I stayed there. They have a nice bar that serves pretty good food and I found out that they have a hot tub in the gym next door that you can use as well. The breakfast bar wasnt very impressive it just had basic bagel and cereal but no eggs or bacon. it was a big place.

They are under a much needed renovation. I wouldnt suggest this hotel at this time. My hope is they do a great renovation, as it is a hotel dear to my heart.

The staff wasnt very nice or helpful. The guy that checked us in didnt tell us anything about the property nor ammenities. I went back down that evening and asked if they had coffee in the lobby, his teply was dont u have a coffee pot in ur room use it. He went to the back reluctantly and gave me 1 serving of coffee. I asked if he had any creamer, i said i like alot of creamer in my coffee, he brought me 1 package. Later i came back down and asked for an extra blanket and they told me they didnt and then they said and i quote if ur friend wants the air down that low then take her blanket and let her freeze yea i couldnt believe it either...... The lady at the lounge was very nice and friendly. Rooms were small, there was a refridgerator but no microwave.

Understaffed, the moment I checked in only one lady was working on the front desk, we asked for a baby crib ( that was actually broken and didnt use) and a fridge that she personally carried to the room cause no room service or maintenance are working !! Only herResort or even hotel is something big for that place, I am not sure if it is because of the COVID or this is the way it is, it is simply a motel with a swimming pool and a near by golf courseOverpriced for the service you get, might seem a good deal when you read resort, but it is notStill far from downtown, sort of close to marina if you are aiming to boat or fishWill never go there again

Beautiful course, well and challenging layout. Enjoyed every minute. Check out hole 7. Course is in great shape. Watch out for leaves and woods, tight course layout. Loved it. And visit Legends at the end.

Great staff. Food was good. Pool is nice.beds are good. The place is old and on the inside the rooms look it. No microwave no usb ports. You have to bring the electrical part of your charger. Even the tv has none. Its a big place and I was here for a wedding and also was the florist and the grooms uncle so I saw the inside workings. They were very helpful. Even helped to unload flowers. Would recommend you look at it for any event.

Dated resort supporting two good golf courses.Upon arriving, was acknowledged by desk person. Not greeted. Then had to wander down a long winding hallway to room. There is one elevator for 300 rooms on three floors. There are banquet and meeting facilities on main floor and on lower levels accessable only by stairs. (How does pass ADA requirements? Many in my group were older women.)Room style is Warren, Old, dated with much of the furniture having dings, scrapes, pieces missing. Drain plugs missing in bathroom. Light in bathroom missing cover, one light bulb burnt out over vanity. Beds are hard not firm.Meeting facilities, are basically a room with chairs, and or tables. Only multimedia I saw was a screen for a projector. As stated above, meeting facilities were spread across the lowest level and first floor. Lowest-level excessed only by stairway. And then only after following through some rather narrow, winding halls.Banquet experience was 2.5 out of 10. fairly large room was kept rather dark. This was probably good as the banquet food was disappointing. Hopefully ordered Peach BBQ pork loin. Meal was served at room temperature. Barbecuesauce was Open Pit with slivered peaches placed on top. Chicken tenders were cooked medium rare to medium. Definitely did not get the A team in the kitchen. Woefully understaffed with only 3 servers working a banquet for a hundred and twenty five people. Was worried ceiling would collapse on us as wedding reception upstairs was bouncing on the floor so hard that the ceiling bowed.Only redeeming quality about this place was that we got the group rate instead of having to pay full price for a room.Cannot State how disappointed I am.

Rooms and hallways did not seem very clean. There was a musty smell throughout. Seems like it was probably a Hotspot many many years ago.

Rooms are a little dated but very comfortable! The resort restaurant has good food! (I can personally recommend the wings. Wonderfully crispy.) The breakfast however leaves quite a lot to be desired. Eggs, potatoes and sausage were all over cooked and under seasoned at an inflated price point.

If you like to hike this is a good place to stay as we got a quite a bit of walking in around the golf course.

Nice place to stay. Needs a facelift in many aspects. Restaurant and pool were closed when we stayed there....would have been nice to know before we got there. They expect you to clean the rooms before you check out, isnt part of staying somewhere else the fact that you dont have to clean and strip beds. It was pleasant and cozy with the gas fireplace. Golf course looks enjoyable (its January). Heard they recently sold to new management. Im sure updates are coming.

The bed was nice, light bulbs were out, one in the bathroom was completely missing. I booked her because of the hot tub that was advertised, they had it boarded up. The vending machine on my floor was broken, I went to the one on the 1st floor, it stole my money, went to the front desk, no one was there. I rang the bell and waited for about 5 minutes, no one came, I went back to my room. I wanted to add another night to my stay based off the website, but Ill be leaving tomorrow and finding a better hotel.

Avoid this place at all costs. The room they gave us was filthy. There was some type of rodent feces all over the toilet and floor in the bathroom. Pool was closed. The whole place seems outdated and really was not clean. Will never come here or recommend anyone to stay here.

The fitness center, restaurant and golfing were enjoyable. The renovations over past decades leave something to be desired, and it is not as handicapped-friendly as it could be.

According to Metro News, The Voice of West Virginia, this resort was recently purchased by Sameer Ailawadi, a Washington, D.C. businessman, in December 2019 for 2.25 million US dollars.Mr. Ailawadi stated, that he plans to change, The guest rooms, the ballrooms, the carpeting and the bedding. Too bad for the carpeting! I realize that it probably hasnt been replaced since the 90s but I love it!!Suzanne Elliott, of The Dominion Post reported in January 2020, Lakeview Golf Resort was purchased by Wyndham Hotels, Trademark Collection by Wyndham.My family and I have had the pleasure of staying at Lakeview Golf Resort on many occasions and absolutey love this hotel. Yes the driveway to the resort needs some work and so do many of the guest rooms but this place has its charms!! My family refers to it as The Shining hotel.This beautiful resort was built in 1950, sits on 412 acres, 187 rooms and 2 - 18 hole golf courses - Lakeview and Mountain view.I give this resort 4 stars.. only because of the mine field of potholes that one needs to navigate on the road to get to the resort.

Honestly this place is a steal, it is on a nice piece of property. They have full beds. Only bad part is the possible guest they stay up tell 4 am.

Needed a course ranger badly! Very slow play even for this time of year. Bad players did not know to let faster players through-spending 10 minutes looking for a ball as the sun went down - ruined the last 10 holes for us. Great/fast greens tho.

Not the best stay ! Stayed 3 days room was never touched not even fresh towels thrown in the door ! Phone didnt even work to call the front desk !

My wife and I had our wedding here in July and couldn’t of asked for anything more. Rachel was amazing and took all the stress of setting/cleaning/cooking away. Thank you for making our day even more special!

Actually a renowned golf destination at Cheat Lake near Morgantown, WV, the Lakeview is a popular venue for events of every kind. Nice location, nice rooms, and nice staff. The events Ive seen hosted there appeared to be first rate. Worth looking into whether you golf or not.

I’m not sure how this place is above anything but a 3 star. I felt like I was staying in a run down motel! Woke up to ants covering my purse and my sons tablet. Super outdated. The bathrooms are super small. The only good thing I can say is that the beds are comfy. No microwave or refrigerator either. Definitely won’t be staying here again.

The resort center has always been a good experience for me. The golf course is pretty decent. The rooms are pretty standard and I’ve never had a complaint towards them. So it’s not amazing but definitely not a bad stay.

It was afwul and we tried 5 rooms and they are all dirty, it was an awful hotel and they didnt even say sorry, and they said they cleaned them all but they didnt they were all dirty they blamed it on the system but it was not the system it was there terrible cleaning skills, they left all the towels on the bathroom floor and it was terrible, and just do not stay here like it is not clean and they dont treat guests well, Alis I went out of my way just to write this paragraph about why you should not stay here

Two thumbs down! Resort is so dated. Rooms are disgusting dirty and mattresses way beyond their lifetime. Public bathrooms smell like urine. Lots of cosmetic blemishes. For WV this should be a higher-end resort based on location and cost. At least I have my hepatitis vaccination.

Positive: The setting in nature. Negative: The pictures were from a long ago age. The property isnt what i would call a Delux Room or a Resort Hotel the price was okay, but no better than staying at an old Ramada inn in back woods Minnesota.

No restaurant available for breakfast at the hotel. The shower did not work the second night & stuff coming down from the ceiling.

Positive: That it was close to my daughters doctor Negative: The bathroom had ants, we were told several times before walked to the indoor pool that it was open once we got to the pool it was closed. When we called to ask why no one knew why it was closed or if it would open back up that evening
