This is a medium difficulty bike ride. The climb up is pretty steep at parts, but overall the entire loop only takes about 40 minutes. There is a nice long section of downhill at the end! Great for an evening bike ride after work because it is short, but still a great workout.

Easily one of the best hikes in Morgan Hill. It’s a 4 mile hike with a moderate elevation. It’s pretty much uphill until reaching the top of the hill which gives a good view of MH. In summer, lands are mostly dry. Would recommend visiting during/after spring to witness lush greenery.Parking lots are available in plenty. There are a couple of restrooms. Spotted many picnic tables. Would highly recommend for anyone who are interested in hiking.Ps: Closes at Sunset

What a beautiful spot! 384 acres all wooded on rolling hills, intermittent streams and lots of wlidlife. Easy access from Palm off of Santa Teresa. Hiking, biking and horses permitted. No smoking, no dogs no fires. Lots of parking plus big staging area for horse trailers. 4 mile loop has a variety of gradients to suit all levels of hikers.

If you enjoy hiking I highly suggest exploring this wonderful outdoor space. There are miles of groomed hiking trails that offer easy to advanced level hikes. Many farmers have cows that roam the hillsides grazing and make for great photo opportunities. The space is managed by Open Space Authority south bay and has rest rooms for public use.

Although only approximately a 4 mile loop, its a perfect quick cardio workout. The profile is like a bell curve, about 2 miles of climbing followed by 2 miles of downhill. Great hike, bike or run in both directions. The thing I like most about this park is how well it drains after rain compared to Harvey Bear, for example. I can typically run or hike here the day after heavy rains. The park employees have done a good job over the past couple of years addressing the areas that are most affected by the rain.WARNING FOR BIKERS: its almost all single track and there are regularly horses on this trial. Please be on the lookout for them and dont bomb down the hills because there are many blind curves.

Great trail. Wide paths. Spectacular views. Good (moderate) inclined ~800. All dirt but great this time of year. Rained last night so nicely pack dirt not muddy. Well maintained trail, with bridges over would be run-off streams. Highly recommend. Will do this one again soon.

Beautiful, little park with challenging hilly trails. Lots of late season wildflowers in the ravine thats protected from a lot of the scorching sun since it is North facing and against the Western hills. Great views of the whole Coyote Valley, IBM Santa Teresa, Mt. Hamilton and Lick Observatory and the Henry Coe Highland hills.

Great hike. Great weather. This is a well-done trail through an open preserve. High point was having a close bobcat encounter. Low point was seeing a group heading up the trail with an off-leash dog. Dogs are forbidden in the preserve and apparently this group thought all the signs didnt apply to them.

For hiking to this area you should call them and ask for permission beacuse it 8s wild nature with flower and butterfly and they are worry people damage this great nature. It is moderate hike and after 2 PM in summer is better or early morning beacuse near noon could be really hot. The best way is using looping path beacuse if you go up and back down will be really challenging. Have a fun and take care of nature!

This is a nice park near Morgan Hill, and just 30 minutes or so from downtown San Jose (with good traffic). The preserve opened in June 2015 and features a 4-mile loop for hikers, bikers, and horse riders. Despite the relatively short total length of the trail, its hilly nature makes up in climbs for what it lacks in distance. The preserve also offers the usual amenities found in other Open Space Preserves (parking lot, bathrooms, park benches). In addition to that, theres also a parking lot dedicated to people with equestrian trailers, and some picnic spots along the trail. Admission is free.

Na
Review №53

Switch back trails throughout. Trail is a full loop measuring 4 miles long with many incline hills. There are shaded areas and a few benches overlooking scenic views. Be advised NO DOGS allowed at the preserve so, make sure to leave them home. Horseback riding is okay. No drone fly zone. This is one of my most favorite hiking trails for sure!!

This preserve just opened last weekend (6/27/15). We arrived around 8am on a weekday and it was mostly empty. New restroom (vault toilet) was OK, parking seemed sufficient. Trail was new, fairly well made with bridges across seasonal creeks/washes. The main negative was the fertilizer stench from the nearby agriculture when on the valley-floor sections near the parking lot. It seemed to dissipate by the end of our 2-hour, 4-mile loop hike. Views are primarily of the valley area to the north and east of the preserve. Only saw one bit of wildlife: a deer resting under some trees. Hopefully this preserve will improve with time. A few more trails would be a good next step.
