This venue is a great place to see acts in a more intimate setting. The staff here are mostly very nice and helpful. Plenty of places nearby within walking distance to grab a bite or drink before a show. With a little work you can find off street parking. They have a lot of variety in the acts that they book. Something for everyone. Now on the negative. Prices for alcohol are on the ridiculous side. Also might be time for some renovations to the seating. Keep it nice and people will keep coming. All in all a place that you will want to visit soon....look for a show that is appealing and enjoy!
This venue has a long history. Ten years ago the ceiling was crumbling, sporting a safety net over head. Today the hall is very nicely refurbished. It has engineered sound dampening pads that make for excellent acoustics. A couple of ushers would be nice to guide people to their seats and keep them out of the aisles blocking stage views. Food and drink selection is decent (hot dogs, chips and nacho dip, pretzels and a few brews on tap) but could be improved. I would definitely go again.
Beautiful old concert hall, but acoustics were a little off the night we were there; echos. Will have to go to another venue to see if it was just the night we were there. My husband had bought the tickets and we were not aware that this event was a general audiance with standing room only with a small seating area. Beverages were a little pricey. Parking deck available for parking about 2 blocks away.
My wife and I love the Wellmont Theater! Great shows and Awesome atmosphere! The staff is great also. We are regulars for their Duel of The Decades & Jesses Girl shows as well as The comedy shows. I highly recommend you come here!
Saw MST3K Tour here. Big old traditional theater. They screen you for weapons. This results in long slow line to get in. Show was great even seen from balcony seats.
This is a nice venue overall. I give it four stars because I don’t like the fact they serve alcohol during the show. I recently attended a show where the crowd was full of drunk rowdy women. There were spilled drinks everywhere but thankfully the staff came and mopped it up. I think they should serve alcohol based on the type of show and crowd that’s expected to be there.
Attend church every Sunday at the wellmont theater. I’ve attended two concerts (secular music). The place is pretty clean, access is easy. Great location, but it’s really hard to find parking because the garage across the street is still under construction.
My god..... every time I go there, its friggin awesome! This time it was for Duel of the Decades 70s vs 80s. Every person in their 40s and 50s needs to see that show before they die! Just so much fun, and brings back a ton of memories. And can go on and on, but would just keep repeating how friggin amazing the theater and that show is..... just go and see for yourself!
The theater has been fixed up nicely. The chair are all in good condition, the theater decor is beautiful. As many have and will continue the mention those seats are tight. For a few hours they are certainly manageable, but not great. For me this theater takes a hit mostly because of the acoustics.I was there to hear O.A.R. and the music was so garbled and distorted by the time it got to me I might as well have been in a school gym.I am sure this would not be a problem for a play or maybe a musical, but for a live band performance, not good.Get some acoustic panels and some curtains to dress the room up even more. Otherwise you will continue to get poor reviews.
I have anxiety and hate big open venues, am local to South Jersey but it was totally worth the 2+hour drive to have our own seats. Acoustics were decent to my untrained ear, experience was exceptional. Several nice restaurants on the block as well.
The staff is SO RUDE! If the venue wasnt so great sound-wise Id definitely avoid it. Ive been there three times and the staff is so impolite. Im not saying I expect to be treated like a queen, but being treated with some dignity would be a great start. All the thumbs down. Great venue otherwise, though.
Great having this theater in the area. Always a great night out. Go early, plenty of outstanding dining choice all within walking distance of the theater. Bathrooms on the first and second floor. Good times!
Great location for our church. We call it home now. Hill song New Jersey! ONLY bad part, parking. God the parking is so bad. Especially now with all this construction going on. When will it end!
Great sound. Great staff. And awesome general admission. Will definitely be coming here again!!
Worst place ever. Booked 2 times tickets to see Elvis In Concert Seen & Unseen and both times canceled the 2 shows without any notification and both times travelled 12 hours drive to find at location that the show was postpone and this time postpone for 11 months. Never again will i ever go to this theater. The least they could do is contact their customers days ahead but no. They make the customers come over and see a little piece of paper in windows stating the show is postponed in 11 months. Even the theater administration were not there to advise all customers arriving to see the show that it was cancelled again. .They were totally closed. Wow what kind of business place is this!!!!!! We were told by next door restaurant manager that shpw was canceled as he was told by theater staff days before!!!!!both times i travelled to Wellmount Theater it cost me over $800.00 each time. Wast of money and lost of time. Elvis Presley Enterprises are as guilty as well. Please do not buy your tickets to see Elvis cause they will make waste your time and money. W
Great venue! Small, intimate not a bad seat to be had!
Great theater. Great location. Intimate setting. Get there early parking is tough.
Great low cost venue to see cover bands. Staff always pleasant and helpful. Drinks avg cost of venue which translates to expensive.
Older theater, absolutely beautiful, the show was great! If you cant handle sitting in a slightly uncomfortable seat to enjoy a great show, I would say dont bother, let someone else have the seat who will appreciate the show and not complain about something so minuscule as the chairs. (All I kept seeing in reviews were comments about the chairs, lol!! So unimportant!)
Black Label Society were amazing!!! The Wellmont Theater is definitely a cool venue. It was my first time there and I dont have any complaints!
Not a bad seat in the house. Great location as there are plenty of close restaurants to dine before a show.
First time there. Great place to see a show. Highly recommended.
Ok so I ordered tickets to the event showing and got there promptly around opening time at 630 pm. i used the ticketmaster app to download the tickets like its suggested for an easy entry.i was told the machine or computer was down so they were only accepting paper ticketsthat of course made an extreme strain on everyone for entryi didnt wind up entering the event until 800 pmthe show started when it was supposed to, (by that I mean it was not delayed to deal with the computer issue).so i missed the opening act of alien weaponry which is the ONLY reason i bought the ticketDidnt get compensated in anyway.Ticketmaster said it was the theaters fault.when i went to my seat i discovered that it was not the seat that i was shown online. I was supposed to be an aisle seat on the second to last row instead I was a middle more seat in a folding chair on last row
Great venue and location and recommend the loge seating but not a bad seat in the house.
Not.a bad venue but why did they have to paint over those gorgeous architectural details?! I like the convenience of bars on each floor.
Nice little venue in NJ. Easy access by NJ Transit from NYC. Comfortable seats with good stage views. Small bathroom. A fun gift shop in the lobby.
Attended the Dual of the Decades (90s vs Y2K) and had so much fun!
.I just love the vibe there. I can go and party and have fun and be free and not have to worry about anything unsafe happening. The security is there and the police but they just drift into the background of the action that is happening there. I have been there to see Buddy Guy, Jesse Girls back to the 80s, dueling of the 70s and 80s . Just go with your best and most fun friend. You will have a blast, plus there are great places to eat. The best place to drink is one across Bloomfield ave walk near the event parking area you will see it. I usually look for free parking. Cuban Petes is fun.
Very nice place to see a show. Good neighborhood for walking.
Do not call them! Their manager, Anthony Morrison, does not want to speak to you, and he audibly sighs if you ask him questions. Rude.I called to find out about the seating for tonights show and first tried to speak to the facility/operations people. No answer. I tried the prompt for show info, and the information was from a week ago. So I tried the manager and he could not have made it more clear that he did not want to speak to me. He told me how to get show info in the prompts and when I told him it was a week old he told me if I would have called back later it would have been updated. When I told him I had one more question about the climate control in there he sighed so loudly I could almost hear his eyes rolling. Small town venue, but not a small town feel to the management. I hope you read this, Anthony, and improve your attitude. If you dont want to answer calls, dont put yourself as a prompt option or get a secretary.
Me and my wIfe love coming here and theres not a bad seat in this place. The ticket prices are reasonable and they have alot of great bands that play here
Great small venue to sse acts that play large venues up close and personal for fair prices.
Great atmosphere great time out.
Hillsong Church 5pm Sunday Service. Always an uplifting time of prayer and worship, to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Fun local venue! Good shows and easily accessible.
My kids were looking forward to seeing the wizard of oz. They were excited and I feel like I let them down. This is the view that we have from our seats..They cant see at all. Let alone the adults....AND there is a small tv for us to view the play on?? =/
Absolutely Awesome Show
Love this place! The details on the building are beautiful and the open dance floor gives everyone a chance to get close to the music! I will be back again soon.
Great show last night, U2 and Cold Play cover bands. I can’t believe I’ve lived in this area my entire life and have never been here. Really cool space, larger than I expected. I’ll have to keep a better eye out for more upcoming events.
Great concert hall and located in the heart of Montclair, NJ. The entrance is on a side street, so its a little hidden from plain view when youre driving in Bloomfield Ave.
Went to see a Seether concert. Sat in the balcony and the acoustics were off. Wouldnt go back for another concert.
EXHILARATING AMAZING ENTERTAINING SUPERB
Perfect Seats, Great Show, Bartender Service Was Good Had A Nice Night Out At This Theater.
Cool venue, good sound. In walking distance to parking lots and garages.
Smallish venue with interesting acts. Lots of friendly staff around to help out. Seats are old and creaky, but comfortable. I sat in the balcony and it was a great seat. The venue is in a Central location surrounded by restaurants and bars. Local parking is available, but not plentiful, so get there early to find it and be prepared to pay $$. I would come back again to see a show here.
Just recently saw I Prevail there. Sound was decent but not perfect, concession was expensive, but i still had a good time. It’s in a nice area in a nice town and it’s a cool atmosphere. I would see another show here
I really enjoyed Get The Led Out with friends and family. The atmosphere was great and the bartender did a great job
Best venue to get real close to the stage!
Excellent Venue for concerts or comedy. The venue isnt small however isnt that big at all. Acoustics are great and there is a plethora of restaurants in the area. That whole are of Bloomfield ave has really come a long way. Great fun in the Spring - Fall!
Nothing super fancy, but a cute, intimate concert hall in a nice, old building. Love the neighborhood its in....lots to do nearby.
Love the experience went for a concert enjoyed the whole show and was up close and personal with the band.
Nice nice but it was a little pricey and hard to get good seats from the bookers
Ive been going to this hostoric theater since it showed movies, and now its back to live performances with excellent lineups. The Wellmont is one of NJs remaining active historic showplaces. The acoustics are surprisingly good and the views are good to excellent from every seat.
Convenient venue and I can always find on street parking somewhere. Many choices for dinner in the area. Im there on a regular basis and prefer to have seats. Im never disappointed. Love this place!
Smaller venue, which I prefer. I think it creates a better experience
The theater was large inside and getting into the show was easy. Signs were provided directing you to parking areas and the acoustics and lighting were outstanding.
Cool place. Parking - get there early, but plenty of lots. Nice friendly staff. Will go again
The space between chair is to small. I hated. It’s hard to enjoy the show in a so tiny chair. Hated.
Always a great venue. Spacious location. Sounds system is on point.
Always enjoy a good show at this great venue. Montclair a great little town
One of the best venues in North Jersey. Wellmont gets some of the best acts to make a stop in our state. Views are nice, sound is good. Parking can be a real hassle, but thats Bloomfield Avenue for you.
Cool old school spot. They havent updated this place much, but thats what make it awesome. Being older, the spot is small and cozy. Despite its agen great sight lines and acoustics where good. I look forward to seeing another show here.
Nice venue but at the moment theyre doing construction
I love this theatre. Great acoustics, and they have an incredible band line up. I have been to many shows at the Wellmont over the years and my favorite thing about this venue is that you can really make a night out of it. There are a ton of great restaurants near by that offer any kind of food you are looking for plus plenty of local bars to help you get loose before walking in. I cant say enough good things about the total experience that the Wellmont has to offer
Took my kids to see their first Lil TJ concert and it was the worst experience ever all around us people was smoking weed and after complaining to many workers their response was this is what happens at hip hop concerts. After spending almost $250 on tickets I had to leave with my kids because the smoke was unbearable before Lil TJ even performed. First and last time ever coming to this Theater.
THE ONLY CONCERT HALL IN NORTHERN NEW JERSEY, AND ITS AMAZING!!!!! I DONT CARE IF YOU GO THERE FOR AN OPERA PERFORMANCE, YOU WONT REGRET IT!
Friendly staff. Low ticket prices. Good time.
Great concert Jason B. Led Zeppelin Tribute
I would never come back to this Theater. I took my child and friend to see Lil TeJay and have a asthmatic child and thought it would be a great night until we arrived and the place was filled with people smoking marijuana. The Montclair police did nothing to stop it. There was young children and teenager all had to endure getting contact from others smoking the entire time. After a hour waiting in line in the rain to see a concert just to not enjoy it was horrible. Who allow this at a concert with a 18 year old boy performing for a room filled with teens and young children. NEVER AGAIN MONTCLAIR! I would have expected this in the hood not montclair. WOW!
10/26/19 - Attended Bert Kreischers second show of the day. Doors were supposed to open at 8:30 pm, but probably an hour late. Seems the other show started late or ran over. Rain threatened but we didnt get anything more than slight drizzle. The show was well worth the wait. We were second row Lodge and the view was excellent. The theater is a nice size..i.e. fairly small. The tickets were very reasonable. Passed on drinks as I thought they were too expensive ($12 to $14). Thats ok as we had hour drive home. Overall really nice place to see a show. Certainly will be back.
The venue is very nice and the service was lovely. Unfortunately, the drinks were definitely overpriced by at least a few dollars in my book. I also took a star off because their accessibility was really lacking. As far as I could tell their only bathrooms were located upstairs which is really not ideal.
Great venue ! Awesome shows
A nice theater. No on site parking currently. But near by event parking and decks. Not really a bad seat in the house as well. Definitely would go back for the right performers.
Great local venueus and atmosphere acheived on a large scale level
I love the wellmont. been her many times for many different bands and its always great.
Went to a couple of concerts here and it was awesome! they now have a Tapas bar attached that you can enter the theatre from and its really cool. the one concert we went to it wound up pouring out and because we sat down to have a bite and drink at the bar we were able to enter without having to go out into the rain.
Great place to see a really good band. Theres balcony seating or standing room only general admission on the floor if you want to get up close... Beers are a little pricey tho...
So when the Wellmont is not oversold and there are not an excessive number of drunks it can be a fun place. However, GA tickets on a raked floor kills your knees and your back. If there is any question you may want to sit down do not buy GA. Security is very tight. They are actually not jerks but some of the people there can be. I recently decided for me, I am not going back. Many other options on where to take in a show.
Watched ODESZA here, and even though we had pretty far back upper balcony seats, we still had a good view of the stage. Bass was really good but vocals and other acoustics couldve been a little better.
You have to go there when theyre have their concerts. I have the best time
It was a wonderful experience to see Melissa etheridge at this venue. It was a comfortable, intimate setting. The three bars in the back of the theater had very friendly service.Looking forward to seeing something else there.
Nice venue. Seats were a bit harsh by the end of the show. But I cant really complain; Jewel and her family were so interactive and friendly. Great restaurants in the area within walking distance!
Great venue with awesome sound. Friendly staff and a good sense of fun.
Wet to see Animal Years. They were better than the headliner.
Saw The Wizard of Oz here. Getting in was easy, there were ushers to help find our seats. We had good seats very close to the front so no problem seeing the stage. The play was good, the lead actress was amazing. She has an incredible voice. I feel like this review is more for the play than the theater because all I did was sit, watch play and leave. Did not visit concession stand nor use the bathrooms.
Great Concert gathering. Cozy
