Great outdoor spot to shoot. Everyone is very friendly there. The bugs get heavy closer to dusk and the range gets very busy around 5:30/6 especially in August before hunting season begins. Overall my favorite place to shoot
A great place for shooters of various levels. The ability to lose the arrow does not give the opportunity to miss.
Visitors should be aware that the picture of a Japanese garden featured here is part of Normandale Community College, not Marsh Lake park or the archery range. This park has recently gotten upgraded targets. Additionally they put in a concrete walkway along the shooting lanes, each of which has a post (with hooks for hanging your bow) designating the distance. I believe the ranges offered go from 30 to 80 yards. The one downside of this new setup is that if someone is shooting at the 45 yard target and you want to use it you have to wait until theyre done with it. Most lanes are double, which means this doesnt happen much. Its a quiet place that isnt too busy. Weekends are the busiest time but most people dont show up before 10. I think the reason for that is that the range faces east, meaning you get plenty of sun in your eyes until 10-10:30.Its a flat field near a lake, so its not unusual to find the grass wet or areas of mud. Dont wear nice shoes there. If its mosquito season, be advised that they are ruthless and the competition for your precious fluids is steep.
Good targets but very thick grass and hardly any backstop. The hole in the center of the block target was too large to stop arrows so I put my target on the edge of the block spit would stop my arrows, I missed a few shots and lost 1 arrow to the grass and 2 to the marsh (all brand new, freshly cut) WOULD NOT recommend if your using nice arrows
This is an outdoor archery range off of France Avenue it has easy access to get in and out of if you want to teach little kids how to shoot bow and arrows this is a good place to start out. Its usually not crowded which is a bonus.
Edit: Taking away a star from this archery range. They changed the layout of the targets so now each target no longer can be shot at an adjustable distance. Instead, each target has a fixed distance you can shoot. This has created a problem for people who do want to shoot at a certain distance(i.e. 20 yard range), but are unable to because the 20 yard target is occupied by another shooter. In which case, that person would either have to shoot at a different range or wait until the other person finishes up.--Definitely one of the better archery ranges Ive been to in Minnesota. The grass is well kept so its easy to find your arrows if you miss the target. The targets are just spaced out enough that you do not have to wait for other shooters to stop shooting if you want to retrieve your arrows.I also enjoy how this is one of the few ranges that go as far as 100 yards.
Open and FREE. If its cold out the hay targets will be frozen and sucks to get arrows out of so bring your own target during the winter months.
Beautiful view. Good place for archery
Its a little hard to see the turn into here so signal early on so you dont get rear-ended.
Awesome range, but if you are the asshat that is destroying the foam targets with your broadheads gfys.
Well maintained free range
Targets are maintained semi regularly
Awesome place for archery
