What a pleasant surprise tucked away in a south side neighborhood in Milwaukee. We were actually driving north to Walkers Point to another breakfast location when we passed Sabrosa Cafe. People were eating outside, wait staff buzzed around, and colorful dishes were being passed out. Quickly, the brakes were engaged as we made a U-turn to park in a convenient spot. Thank God for masks as we needed to be seated inside the restaurant. We ordered the cinnamon bun which was legendary. No sickening sweet excuse for a roll and powdered sugar drizzle. The fluid and delicious cream cheese drizzle topped a crunchy, yet chewy middle. We also ordered an omelette and a house special. Neither disappointed. The only negative is the coffee, which is too acidic for my taste. French Roast rules! Congratulations to Sabrosa! I wish the team much success.
This restaurant serves excellent food and has great service.Their menu items are very creative some of the choices are: avocado toast with poached egg, breakfast burritos and a smoked salmon omelette. Our family ate breakfast there recently with another couple and we all enjoyed our meals very much. their excellent coffee was a perfect accompaniment for the meal. Its a little more expensive than breakfast at Dennys but well worth it. Our family has been there several times and we will be back again.
Awesome experience at Sabrosa! By far one of the best restaurants in Milwaukee! Check out their Thanksgiving options! After our amazing dinner, I decided to order Thanksgiving items! You wont be disappointed. Thank you for the great service & delicious food.
Stopped there by chance for breakfast early in the morning. The food was delicious and very creative! Great drinks as well! Awesome customer service and the owner was amazing striking up conversation with us. Will definitely be going back again! Can’t wait to try other items on the menu!
We ordered brunch to take out this past weekend and ran into issues with timing of our order. The system said 30 mins but once we got there had to wait another 45 mins. It seemed that the chef did not see the notes that were on the order as I am always very clear as to not cause confusion. Ive worked in customer service for a very very long time. When we were there, food was coming out to other people, but for some reason ours was not. So after writing to them first, they said there was a glitch in the system. Which is fine, but if a client arrives at the time they should pick up their food, it still should not take another 45 mins to make the order. So, although we appreciate the apology, it seems that their online system as well as internal communication within the staff was not smooth on this Sunday.Anyway, our food was ok, they got the order wrong as we received a different meat than we asked for, but I always enjoy these small independent places that pop up in your community. My Suggestion: Call your order in or eat in! Some places just struggle with online systems as its not the normal for them. I have eaten here before and never had any problems in the dining room. Everyone is struggling so do your best to know your local restaurants and understand the best system that works for them to give you the best customer service and experience possible.
I ordered on line and forgot to press that last important little button. The order never went through. Uh-oh. They were so gracious and fulfilled my order anyway. The food is wonderful of course. A total class act.
Delicious brunch, everything was very flavorful! Good service and a super cute, unique place!
I am giving this place 5 stars based on one visit, and one single amazing quick menu option. I rolled up for a coffee & pastry combo. First of all, it was only $3. Coffee was solid. And the blueberry scone...well, thats whats brought me here to write this review. Best Ive ever had. Absolute pastry perfection. I look forward to a full dining experience here someday!
I can honestly say, Im sorry I hadnt tried Sabrosas before. Im a pretty basic Fri night fish fry WI woman, but their beer battered cod was perfect. As was the lime slaw, very appealing & refreshing to the palette. Nice potato cake with an apple compote to go with the honey drizzled hush puppies. And whew, loved, loved, loved the spicy paprika potatoes. What a kick they had, all in a great way. Its a guaranty that, Ill continue to experience more of what they offer.
I typically only write reviews when an experience stands out to me. Perhaps this review is based on higher expectations from seeing a lot of recommendations, especially for a fish fry in Milwaukee. Did a pick-up order for 6:30pm and the food was not ready until 6:40pm (not a big deal to me and not terribly unreasonable). My assumption is they were just serving hot and ready food! As soon as I got home I started eating my fish fry meal. The compote on the potato pancakes is great! However, the potato’s were served room temperature and not hot like you’d expect which was disappointing. The cod fish fry was pretty underwhelming to me as I found it pretty mediocre if I’m being honest. This was my first time here and I’m not sold on coming back just yet, but I’d also hate to leave a 3-star review just based on one experience. The staff I dealt with was friendly and attentive and the upstairs patio seems like a great addition (though I haven’t dined there).
Everything had potential to be really great dishes but fell short mostly due to lack of seasoning. However the atmosphere and the artwork was pleasant. I would definitely give it another go.
The food was scrumptious and the service was friendly, prompt and very helpful. We ate on the upstairs patio and the atmosphere was wonderful. The way things were set up there was no street or other intrusive noise. We plan on returning.
One of my favorite places in Milwaukee. Great brunch, great fish fry. Always good service.
Carne asada breakfast burrito is outstanding! Everything Ive ever eaten here is outstanding!Must be some kinda wizard working in that kitchen
Rooftop patio is great. Very charming and relaxing. Brunch was indeed tasty and I felt good about the covid safety protocols. Will return!
The menu keeps changing lol the good is SOOO amazing that I want to come back for it again, but by the time I come back its no longer available. I recommend the rooftop if the weather permits.
Incredible food and impeccable service. We will absolutely be back.
This was our first time here. Our party of 3 arrived 10 mins before our reservation and we waited longer than expected to be seated. We went upstairs and on our way there the areas smelled pretty bad (probably because the stairs are next to the bathroom). We were seated and moments later someone came and told us he would be assisting the server as she was a bit busy. He took our drink order and shortly brought them out. The waitress was overwhelmed as she had to attend to 4 other tables excluding ours. The food was not worth the price. The portions are small with little to no flavor. After receiving our meal, she was able to check in on us and upon paying we noted that an item didnt`t match the listed price on the menu, she was kind enough to change that. A day later i noticed that an additional $10 was added to my card...I called the restaurant and they will reopen on Wednesday due to changed hours. I didnt`t authorize this charge and unsure how this mistake has happened. i hope they can resolve this.**EDITED REVIEW**Although the restaurant is typically closed on Mondays due to the change in hours, Frank (the owner) was kind enough to call me back. He asked me a few questions regarding the transaction and sent me a picture of the receipt. He proceeded to tell me that the charge was an honest mistake which I agreed with. I decided that a tip should be left in cash, but came to find out no tip was left (someone else in the party was taking care of that) and was told that servers earn off of tips. Tipping is a choice, not mandatory.Unfortunately he didn`t agree with my review and proceeded to tell me how my review was unjust. He was extremely upset over this review and perhaps this was the first time he actually spoke to an unhappy customer on the phone (The response below is no where near the reaction I received over the phone. He let me know how irrational my review was, if i knew I had to defend my review over the phone I would have told him the other detail I left out in the review). I understand that as a business owner reviews are taken seriously and they effect a business, but the way he went about it was inappropriate. I happened to have a business owner who overheard this conversation and they were floored by his reactions. After we continued to talk over one another, he decided it was best that we no longer do business together and that I would be refunded the amount. To give you a glimpse of his unprofessional behavior, he was kind enough to let me know that the word smelt means fish.. so thank you for closely noting my misuse of words thus I have corrected it for you.
The dishes are creative and tasty, and the service has always been excellent each time Ive dined.
The food is delicious and the drinks are awesome! I would recommend this to anyone
Loved my first visit to this charming cafe! The coffee was amazing, perfect for sipping while looking at the art and just listening to the nice music and chatting. The atmosphere was warm and comfy, while also having plenty of eye catching things to make conversation over and the food we got was just as beautiful! Cant wait to come back again even if its just for the coffee and pastries.
The food is delicious and the staff is great. Had brunch here multiple times and have never been disappointed.
Extremely tasty, rotating brunch menu and the staff are so pleasant and welcoming despite how busy they are. I had roasted turkey hash benedict off the rotating menu and would drive back from Madison exclusively to have that dish again for brunch when it comes up again. They also had live music for brunch! What a great experience. I would 10/10 recommend.
After reading through the menu and all the rave reviews, we were really looking forward to trying a new place for Sunday brunch. We were joyfully greeted and promptly seated on the rooftop. The service, however, was not prompt and we kept having to remind our server to bring things we requested. The food wasnt too sabrosa, just asi asi. Hopefully we just came on an off day, and our experience will be better if we decide to visit again.
Calm and relaxing environment excellent food. Must try the incredible breakfast specials. Staff very friendly and memorable.
Delicious food. Its also an art gallery
Comfortable atmosphere. Incredible bloody mary. Recommend the new rooftop patio.
Have mercy with this green and red sauce!I haven’t had chili sauce this delicious since I frequented New Mexico. The chef was wonderful and passionate about his customers and food, the waiters were hilarious and gracious, and the food. THE FOOD. We split 3 plates between us and every bite was delicious. Appreciated the sugar cubes, made me feel like I was in Anne of Green Gables at a coffee/tea party. And ended brunch with a Mango Margarita. If I hadn’t been so full, I would’ve had 2.Hurry to Sabrosa, eat all the things, and sit outside to people watch on a beautiful day.
I love Sabrosas. It is one of my favorite brunch spots! I was very disappointed with my recent visit. I support businesses changing practices to keep customers safe with masks and social distancing. However when I was served my coffee in a Togo cup, prepackaged creamers, and plasticware to eat with I was disappointed. I’m not sure when dishes became unsafe. Not what I want out of my dining out experience.
The menu and ingredients are always diverse and creative. Whether youre a picky eater or not, the prices and quality of food allow you to be adventurous without regrets.
One of my go-to places to eat. convenient location, neat, and very good service. Highly recommended!
Great Saturday breakfast! Interesting and delicious French toast. Tasty coffee. Breakfast sandwich the way a breakfast sandwich should be done. Excellent service and cocktails. Cant wait to go back next time were in MKE.
Im from the Chicago land area and I was Pleasantly surprised...Im glad Dennys line was a 20 minute wait. A very eclectic atmosphere, tight in some areas but very comfortable. My lady friend said the coffee was amazing and I was very skeptical once I saw the vegan/vegetarians symbols on the menu. I got the carnivore skillet and was astonished, creative, tasty and a perfect size portion. Service was great I will definitely go back 100%. Chicago approved.
Where do I even start?! You feel like you’ve been transported to a European bistro the minute you walk in the door. You want to just sip the wonderful coffee and pear mimosa’s and linger. From the local art displayed on the walls, to the French music playing in the background. Our waiter Brett is always lovely, helpful and attentive without fail. And the food is fresh and creative and looks like a work of art. We love this little jewel of a place and will be back!
I loved Sabrosa. from Dallas, my friend and I wanted to grab some good breakfast before I left your fine city and I was wowed! Frank the owner is very congenial. The wait staff was helpful, friendly and fun. The food was what I wanted before flying. My scone made it back to Dallas... I enjoyed a bit of my trip the next day with my morning coffee. I will be back!
My husband and I ordered carry out from here and were both very disappointed. I got the campesinos chilaquiles made vegan and there was hardly any food, it was just thrown together and no sauce on the chilaquiles. It looked like it was a half portion of just some tortilla strips with a few vegetables thrown on top of the beans. My husband got the carne asada burrito, the cheese was melted on the top and the burrito was thrown on top of black beans making it very difficult to pick up and eat. We werent given any napkins or utensils so my chilaquiles was more like disappointing nachos and it was messy to eat the burrito. I know its not the same experience eating as carry out, but still very disappointing, wont be coming back.
Owner is fun and the food was amazing! Great place to have brunch on a patio!
Great service and very delicious food. Great looking menu and everything we had was delicious. The piano music style we ate was really nice too (even with a 4 year old).
Finally ate here after hearing nothing but good things from friends. I thought they were a bit overpriced and the crepes were very bland. Tight squeeze dining area. The waitress kept bumping into me. Was not very impressed at all. Hopefully next time will pack the wow factor.
What a wonderful hidden gem right here in Bay View. The food is increadable & the service was spot on. I went for Sunday brunch with a friend whod been to Sabrosa many times. This was my first visit. ♡ super busy
Unique cuisine and great service make this a pleasurable dining experience. Sabrosa means tasty and the food here fits the bill. The menu is eclectic with a Mexican flair. Your first visit will not be your last.
Ambiance. Character. Energy. Quality. Friendliness. Fun, fun, fun. Outside serving tables, excellent idea-especially when the weather cooperates. Service... excellent. They aspire to make your visit memorable and satisfying. Though, be prepared for a visual experience that heights the idea of interesting.Might I add that the sound may carry in and around the outdoor seating area. A minor concern as the fabulous feeling you shall leave with certainty outweighs the concern of sound.
Had the Ruben (Vegitarian) Sabrosa is breakfast and lunch place, and man I had a great lunch. I work down the street was able to have this fancy meal quickly on the outside seating area. Staff were welcoming and waiters were polite. Food was better than expected. I always gage a place by how they make rubens and for being so bold as to make it vegitarian and pulling it off 5stars for sure!!
It was our first time here and the food was delicious!! Loved the authentic dishes and yummy latte!! The atmosphere was also very comfy and cute. William was such a friendly server!! Thank you, we will be back!
Our absolute favorite go-to place for brunch in Bay View! We enjoy bringing out of town guests here to listen to them rave about it as well! Something for everyone on the menu.
We had an amazing experience. The owner sat us at our table, checked in on us during our meal, and held the door for us on the way out. Great food and service!
Unfortunately I will no longer be going to Sabrosa Cafe after being disrespected by the owner and not returning my phone calls, hanging up on me for no reason, and then telling his employee to hang up on me and talking bad when I can still hear through the phone. This is all after being a regular customer for several months to more than a year, coming in at least once a month. In addition to referring friends/co-workers constantly, which I will make sure to do the opposite.Further to being disrespected, at my last visit I was erroneously charged double of what I should have paid, which I was kindly trying to reach the owner, hoping to resolve nicely so I can come back to dine there, which will never happen again. I strongly caution anyone who goes here to save their receipt and be ready to dispute with your credit or bank, because the owner can care less. It really is a shame because we did go quite often, but horrible last experience and no respect for owner now. Plenty of other places to go.
I went here for brunch one Saturday with a friend. We didn’t have a reservation and the wait was around an hour. The space is cozy and the gallery was appealing. – It helped pass the time. The live pianist was a nice touch. The food took some time to come out after we ordered. My friend enjoyed her cocktail and omelette. I got the carnivore scramble and didn’t realize until the end that it didn’t have the ham or bacon. I would go back and give this place another try because the atmosphere and staff were great.
This past week was our 2nd visit in a year. It was 100% improvement. 1st one was horrible service and after 15 minutes never even got water nor a menu. This visit was great. Abigail was attentive, and so was the owner. Food was delicious and portions just right. Well done!
Absolutely LOVED this place!!! Great atmosphere, great service, and amazing food!! I will definitely be back! I want to try EVERYTHING on the menu!
The fish fry was delicious and the staff was great in accommodating my needs for food sensitivity.
The food is always delicious and fast, and the service is exceptional. Adorable decor. Always a great experience!
There wasn’t a single thing I could say negative about my first experience here. I had a cinnamon roll to start which had a great frosting drizzled on it paired well with their special blend of coffee. To eat I tried tbe sloppy joe taco because it was just a unique thing I had to try and wasn’t disappointed the slaw wasn’t too messy with dressing just good veggies. My main meal was the kielbasa hash with tortillas. The home made hash was perfect and can’t wait to have it paired with whatever else I decide to get.
Love this place! Every time we come to town we get breakfast or lunch here. Every. Day. The service is kind, friendly, and on point. The food is always SO flavorful and interesting. Just superb!
The food was excellent, the atmosphere is very nice and the service was great! We came in on a Saturday morning and even though the place was packed; we were seated instantly and had amazing service throughout the meal. Its a great little place to stop and have a delicious breakfast or lunch. Highly recommend giving Sabrosa a try if you havent.
Wow! So good! I love a good eating experience and this is one them!Went back for more, a new years eve breakfast, I dont think chef was in.
I was driving by this place on a Saturday morning around 8am. It looked like a fun place & I was looking for a coffee and some light breakfast but didnt have a ton of time on my hands. I was greeted by friendly staff & I liked the vibe. I ordered a chorizo egg wrap off the commuter menu and decided to get a cinnamon roll that they warmed up for me. My order to go was ready in less than 10 minutes. The egg wrap was outstanding & the cinnamon roll was definitely something special as well. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food & service. Cant wait to come back when I can dine in & try some of their other food & drink offerings.
My wife went here with her girlfriends for a birthday brunch and loved it!
The best chilaquiles in town!
Wow! Phenomenal in every way! First class from start to finish. Came with high expectations. Knew it would be good and I was astonished with how good it was! Do not eat brunch anywhere else!
Great place. The food was off the hook. I had the Carnivore definitely a meal fit for a beast. The ham, sausage, and bacon oh my. Service was fantastic and the music was a nice touch on a Sunday morning. Top notch
Owner doesnt not like criticism for bad food
The food is very good. It is a small and cozy place. The staff is wonderful and attentive. The chef came out to great us and take us to our table. A delightful twist on things. It is worth a try. The price was reasonable and it is a better quality than a chain restaurant. Highly recommend giving it a try. I will be going back many more times.
Absolutely loved this place. The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. Cant wait for my second visit!!
Our favorite Bay View breakfast spot. Inventive menu with a Mexican influence. Fantastic brunch beverage deal with custom bloody Marys and mimosas.
Excellent service. Awesome food.
Great option for breakfast and lunch. Inviting outdoor and indoor seating. Large summer menu and weekend specials. Good portions for pricing, and wonderful service.
Foos is phenomenal with a very unique/fun atmosphere. Definitely worth a try.
This place is amazing! The service, the people, THE FOOD! We visit Milwaukee a couple times a year and end up eating here each day while we are there.
Great food, great people. I but high priced. Excellent coffee.
Fabulous food and drinks! Never had a meal I didnt absolutely love!
Great cafe in MKE with a Mexican flare.I had the Chorizo Casero which is more or less a breakfast burrito disassembled. You can get toast or tortilla as a side and kinda make your own mini breakfast tacos. The Chorizo is on the milder side if spicey food turns you off.I also tried the Challah Joe which was an open face sloppy joe of sorts with a side dish (Campesino Hash) which was fantastic.Highly recommended.
Delicious food. Great atmosphere. Loved the art work!
I always run past this place and it intrigued me to give it a try. The staff is very friendly and the inside is very comforting. The food is delicious. I got the bourbon bacon sandwich and would recommend it to those who go there for the first time. We were there for about an hour total, so pretty reasonable for a sit down and relax restaurant. Great place overall, give it a try.
Exceptional food! Every detail was delicious, and the prices are fair.
Been here multiple times and always a great experience. Everyone is friendly and service is quick. Food is amazing
Really fun menu. Food was very good and presented very nicely. Friendly waitstaff. The only little tiny tiny tiny little negative was the special drinks they had. Mine was a concotion of gin and beet juice, orange juice and something else. It was way too sweet and no flavor of gin.
Phenomenal food. Flavors r perfectly balanced. Owner is friendly
Creative tasty brunch options and exceptional service. This is a place I plan to return to when in the Bayview/Milwaukee area.
Great food good service the kitchen was a little slow they rewarded us with a small treat on the house made it all worthwhile. I would recommend going there breakfast is great
