This place has something of interest for just about everyone! Woodworking, metal working, computers and electronics, laser lab, sewing...the works. Theres a $40/month dues, paid like a gym, but with no long-term commitment. You have access to the place 24/7. If you want to learn something, theres a lot of members eager to help.

The best place to work on projects and meet makers in Milwaukee!

Speaking from a members standpoint, the ability to use a wide variety of tools that you didnt have to buy, and that are kept in relatively excellent condition, is unparalleled here. While you do have to be a member in order to use said tools, the membership is well worth the price. The membership offers Unlimited 24/7 365 access to the space and the tools, as well as the brains and companionship of all the other members, most of which have extensive experience in some facet of manufacturing and making of items.

Months ago, I toured Milwaukee Makerspace on Tuesday night. I saw the facility and met some of the group leaders and members. Yes, it is crowded inside. Tool rooms, however, are separated by project type. Wood working and 3D printing, for example, are in organized work areas. This group boasts over 300 members now. With 24/7 secured access, they socialize, train, and develop projects for home or sale. And more important, they show something often lacking in small manufacturing companies (OEM): passion to innovate. They stretch moderate budgets to test and refine ideas. OEM, unfortunately, tend to sit on past products while competitors move in.Should you join this group? Look at the laser cutter, 3D printers, wood shop, and electronics lab. Learn from their Masters. Later, you will know what you need in your personal shop. You may also qualify to train new members.Invest in some Makerspace magazines and books. Join the Bayview group and make Milwaukee innovation thrive!

This place is amazing. A grassroot growth of phenomenal proportions and stands as an incredible example of what is possible when talented people act as servents to each other. There is a vibe here that encourages creativity and mutual support. It has attracted people from many different backgrounds and cultures just like the Milwaukee neighborhood in which it is located. I look forward to to returning and learning much more.

An awesome makerspace that is affordable, open 24/7, has a vast amount of equipment, and has great members. Note, it is affordable with respect to numerous other makerspaces out there. Its non profit so its about as cheap as it feasibly can be. Also note, this is not a storage space so do not expect vast, unlimited, or any amount of storage. This keeps the space open for tools and not for junk.
