This place was a great stop for me and my friends the night before we hiked up the mountain. We took some kayaks in the lake for a while and went to a couple of the small islands on the lake. Then we had what was a delicious dinner as we watched the sun set by the peaks we would be climbing the next morning. Will be visiting both this place and the mountain again next summer and you should too. Also there was a wedding going on during this and they seemed to be having the time of their lives so keep up the good work!
Beautiful camp with well kept cabins on a point in the Millinocket Lake. We had rainy evening arrival and then very windy night and morning that prevented us from fully enjoying the amenities but the place is absolutely beautiful. We also enjoyed a really good dinner at their River Driver restaurant.
Caveat: I did not stay here, but dined here twice and did the moose tour. Every single person we interacted with was warm and friendly. Great service and food, and you cant beat the views! Weve already said that next time we are in the area we will stay with neoc based on our experience.
Almost perfect. Beautiful setting, nice accommodations and activities. Good food and friendly staff. COVID aware.
Food was fantastic along with the view. They accommodated us even though they were preparing for a wedding party.
I love this place. Friendly staff and so many outdoor activities!!! I have stayed here 7 times now and have had a great time on every visit.
We ate at their restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic and the ambience was rustic yet contemporary.
We had the best vacation ever at NEOC & cant wait to Go Back !!!
Definitely a great place to stay reasonably priced awesome restaurant great views super clean place yeah love it
Great customer service with food to die for!! The price of the food is justified with every bite!!
We ate outside with a beautiful view of the lake and Mt. Katahdin. The food and drinks were thoughtfully prepared featuring Maine favorites. Every time we come here it is special.
The best food Ive had in Northern Maine! Beautiful location and facilities!
This was probably the worst campground I’ve ever been to and pretty much ruined my trip to Baxter State Park. There were no staff to be found at night (I walked around for 20 minutes looking.) The only instruction is to call a phone number, but there’s no service unless you drive for 10-15 minutes (for all carriers - NEOC knows that and has directions on how to drive to service, although if you have AT&T you have to go all the way to town which is 15-20 minutes). Since that’s the case, this campground really needs a better option such as a walkie talkie or something in order to reach staff in an emergency or late at night. This seems like a major safety issue.Quiet hours are at 10:30pm, but they aren’t unforced. People were yelling, playing music, and even driving trucks around (for fun) until 5am++. There were multiple bachelor parties the weekend that we stayed. The next day I learned there is an area marked “private” where the guides live, and they’re supposed to enforce quiet hours. Well, that group was playing music and howling at the moon at 11:30pm.The overall vibe was like a Maine Jersey Shore. If you want an experience in nature, go elsewhere. Some examples from our neighbors: the girls next to us decided to leave their SUV running for 2 hours until 10:30pm just to charge their phones. A group of 4 guys arrived at 11pm and left their Cadillac Escalade (seriously) running for 20 minutes while unloading and yelling to each other, then decided to play with fire + lighter fluid. The craziest example is that one group kept the party going until 5AM! They were still speaking in full voices and even yelling at times. I finally got up to ask them to whisper around 3:30AM although they didn’t whisper for long. There is a staffperson onsite in the morning, I believe her name was Linda. She was very helpful and kind, and agreed that what we experienced was Not Okay. She offered us a different spot by the water, although when we went to investigate there was a group of 5+ guys next door playing music, so we didn’t think it was worth spending 2 hours packing and unpacking our stuff again while on vacation and decided not to move. The second night was slightly better for noise, a group was yelling until 1:30AM instead of 5AM.Other details to note:- Check in is 3pm and check out is 10am which seems excessive for a campsite. Most others I go to are 11am/1pm.- You cannot choose your own campsite. This is a huge bummer and there’s a big difference between the campsites by the water with lots of space, vs my area (campsite 17) that had 6 campsites VERY close together and was about 20-30 feet from the main parking area where the generators and all the rafting trips are loaded up. It was noisy pretty much all the time.- Speaking of generators, according to the rules sheet these are run 3 hours a day I think. An updated sheet by the lodge had them running 7 hours a day. In reality they ran them even longer on the first day, until 9pm. I appreciate the ability to shower but these are so, so loud. The second night they didn’t even run, which my friend and I jokingly called the “bropocalypse” because there were big groups of guys walking over to the lodge that couldn’t figure out why there was no water. Oh remember our characters from before, the neighbor girls idling their car? Despite the showers being locked they decided to shower in the sink meant to get drinking water for HALF AN HOUR, and ran the entire camp out of water. We had brought enough that we were fine, but these people were seriously awful humans. They even laughed about it to my friend who was trying to get water to do dishes! Again, no staff around for any type of enforcement.I’m giving this review an extra star because I thought the staffperson I interacted with was really nice. But it sounds like management has cut down staffing so much that this camp is like the Wild West.Just stay at Baxter State Park.
Beautiful area. Cabins right on lake. Beautiful views of Lake and Katahdin. Trails, restaurant,
4-28-19 Vegan Wedding!!!We just had our wedding at NEOC, after only two months of planning. Let us just start by saying WOW! Yes, theres the beauty of Mount Katahdin, which stayed a mystery all weekend until it graced us with its presence on our wedding day creating everlasting majestic photos that we will have for the rest of our lives, but honestly, having our wedding at NEOC was so much more than just a spectacular view. From our very first venue visit, Shoreys casual confidence and cool-as-a-cucumber demeanor was a much needed calming presence throughout our stressful planning. Her masterful vision that matched ours, for rustic elegance, was methodically executed down to every little detail. She was always available to answer any questions regardless of how large or small they may have been. When the weekend finally arrived, Shorey was the all encompassing gracious host, who, by where we stood, couldnt possibly have slept the entire weekend. She was always present, from our group breakfasts, to the rehearsal dinner, straight through to our afternoon ceremony & late night reception. Shorey was everywhere, ensuring everyones cabins, meals, and experiences were exceeding expectations! And they did!!!Our guests raved about everything Shorey, her staff, and NEOC embodied. The staff was so genuinely interested in making our guests happy. There was Glen, who arranged all the fireworks we brought and boy did he make an amazing spectacle for us, that our friends and family will never forget. Thank you, Glen! And Lynn, who took all of our local beer and booze requests and truly went out of her way to make our selections happen. Truly grateful.Where to begin about Chef Chelse!! She is incredible! Upon first contacting Shorey, we inquired about their capability of putting on a vegan wedding. We were told its not cuisine the chef usually prepares but shed love the challenge, not that it would be challenging! Did she ever capitalize on this opportunity! On our very first visit to NEOC, Chelse whipped up a most scrumptious two-course snack completely unsolicited. And she presented it herself with the utmost excitement, glowing at the opportunity to concoct a vegan feast! At the tasting, we were blown away by the options she had created. We had some minor critiques, which she completely agreed with, and by the time our celebration weekend arrived, she nailed it!!! TOTAL ROCKSTAR!!!! We went with a buffet-style meal, our request. Her vegetable noodles with pesto were perfectly spiraled and al dente, the mushroom risotto was so delicious that many of our carnivore guests thought there was meat in it! Haha!!! The potato gnocchi were absolutely heavenly and her grilled vegetable stacks stole the show as their presentation was gorgeous. She also went above and beyond to execute not one, but two flavors of vegan wedding cupcakes! And who could forget the late-night vegan poutine bar!!! :D Everyone was raving about the food all weekend, from the Mexican-themed rehearsal dinner to the breakfast buffets. We appreciated how Chelse always prepared something just for the vegans for each meal we ate over the three days spent at NEOC. As if she wasnt busy enough, were quite sure that each one of our guests pulled Chelse aside to personally dote on her with accolades. :)We chose NEOC because it is a venue that we could return to for so many different reasons, and it will always be the place that signifies our most special day. And after what theyve done for us, we will again and again! We cant recommend NEOC enough! If youre interested in having your wedding there, we whole-heartedly think you should!
My fiance and I went here to unplug for a weekend away from Boston. We stayed in the Fox Den cabin with our dog Charlie and had such a great time. The cabin was the perfect size for the three of us and stayed nice and warm thanks to the stove. Next time well bring our own skillet as some of the cooking tools are a bit worn.We went hiking since the snow was packed down enough to skip the snow shoes. The cross country ski trails were well-groomed and quiet. We had some great mountain views! The only bummer is that this is a really popular snowmobiling place so if youre looking for peace and quiet youll have to get away from the main lodge. There is plenty of land though so thats easy enough!Dinner at River Drivers was a great end to our Saturday. The front desk suggested making reservations which we did day-of without issue.
Incredible place and great food!
Beautiful trails and wonderful restaurant.
Went on a evening wildlife tour. Glenn was outstanding as was Holli who just happened to come along. The lake was like glass. Saw a Cow Moose and watched her until we were tired. Saw beaver, loons, cormorants, and beautiful scenery. Enjoyed hearing about moose hunting from Glenn and joking with Holli. Before we went out we sat at the restaurant and had root beer floats. Afterward we had the all you can eat Haddock dinner. We did not stay at NEOC.
Locale was simple to get to, plentiful activities for all ages and lots of self serve items that dont require staff assistance. Our lodge was clean and food was good. Our raft guide Andy was wicked funny and extremely knowledgeable of the river we were on and its difficulty. It was my first time here but certainly wont be my last!
I cannot say enough about our camping trip at NEOC. From the beautiful views to the wonderful staff, we had the best time. What I couldnt believe was all the things you get with your stay. You can kayak, paddle board, or canoe the lake. We decided to canoe and it was the most peaceful activity. The food at their restaurant was delicious especially the fish and chips. Our bartender, Melissa, made us the best drinks and gave us many ideas to explore her home town. Its very close to Mt. Katahdin. We ended up hiking Katahdin but the weather we rather unforgiving so we just decided to turn back. No worries because we will be back to visit Millinocket!!! We even saw a ton of Moose! Amazing experience! Bravo NEOC! You know how to make a guest feel at home!
Best skiing Ive had in years! What a beautiful facility! You should go!
River Drivers awesome food
Fantastic time! Thought it would be much more terrifying but the guides were professional, calm, and composed that no one was fearful - even if they fell out! It was all very fun and safety was paramount! They even had a delicious riverbank cookout for lunch appropriate to everyones dietary restrictions if any!Cannot recommend this enough except to say if I did it again, I would schedule it to do the class 5 rapids TWICE in a row! Lodge, accommodations, restaurants — everything was just spot on!
Great rafting
Beautiful setting with both rustic and modern cabins. Excellent restaurant with friendly staff!
Awesome cross country ski trails and a great resturant
We came here last year for Christmas. The cabins are large and comfy. They are super clean. Love that the floor is heated. Employees are super cool. They are very helpful. If you love snow this is the place to gk in the winter!!
Beautiful place, cant wait to go back.
Wonderful food and service. Beautiful place
Food and service were both good. Nachos were great
Well run, good food. Staff is helpful and friendly
Personable and friendly. Very helpful and great service
Wow I’m not sure how to rate NEOC. I have been there before and liked the restaurant so decided to call about staying there on an upcoming weekend. First time I got transferred and hung up on so I called back thinking it was the phone system. Second time a woman answered and said “sorry busy” and then promptly hung up on me! Not believing what just happened or it must have been the wrong # I called back again and the same young woman answered quite rudely I asked if this was the front desk she said no I asked if I could speak with the front desk and she said “no you can’t” and hung up again. This does not seem promising for customer service so elsewhere we will go
A place to get away from it all! Excellent views of Katahdin, and Riverdrivers offers delicious food and drinks. Stay here, play here. A must see when visiting Baxter State Park. A great place for cross country skiing in the winter!
Spacious accommodations that let you feel like youre getting away from it all while still offering some creature comforts. My experiences as an event guest and on a rafting trip were excellent! Wifi was spotty but thats not a big deal given the remoteness of the place. The shower head in our cabin could have used some servicing but it was still workable.
Incredible staff, even better food.
Excellent centre. Clean, well resourced cabins. Plenty of great walks in Baxter Park, some start from the centre. Watersport equipment, kayaks, canoes, paddle boards free to use for those staying at the centre. The restaurant service excellent food which is of a higher quality than Id expected.
Attended a family wedding on the lake in March! If it werent for the woodstove in the cabin I would have froze my a$$ off but it was absolutely a blast!Lovely rustic decor with thoughtful touches. Restaurant serves basic fare but plenty of it. Wish I had more time to stay and enjoy some of the outdoor activities like snowshoeing and snowmobiling.Would recommend this place to anyone who likes winter adventure.
Nice cabins and resturant on the lake. Canoes and kayaks available.
Great food
Incredible facilities. Nicest cabins and lodges Ive ever stayed in. The staff is outstanding also - very welcoming and knowledgeable about how to make the most of your vacation time. Whether you want to see wildlife, go whitewater rafting, climb Mt. Katahdin or just chill, they will go out of their way to make sure you have a blast. Looks like it would be top notch for winter sports too. I hope to come back someday soon.
Beautiful area there! Pet friendly. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. Can swim in the lake or paddle board, canoe, or kayak with our dog which was awesome. The moose tour was awesome. Although we didnt see any moose on the pontoon and the weather turned bad, the tour guide went above and beyond driving us around in the van for close to two hours. We still saw beautiful scenery, bald eagle, one loon, and an angry beaver. I highly recommend this place, and we will be back for a visit in the future. One thing is bring a fan in the summer as there is no air conditioning in the cabins. Most nights you dont need it because the nights get cool. Thank you!
Great helpful knowlege they got you covered no worries go inside
We had a wonderful experience and will definitely return. 3 out of our party of 5 had never done any whitewater rafting before. We all felt that Andy, our raft guide, was knowledgeable about the river and rafting and did an excellent job leading our group. Everyone was quite pleasant and friendly. We camped at the campground for 2 nights and would do it exactly the same way next time. The campsites were lovely.
Just Amazing! Love everything about NEOC! The staff, the restaurant, the lodging... Are all fantastic!!! I would HIGHLY recommend it. You also must get as many massages from Holly as you have time for. Youll not regret the amazing massage she gives.
Delicious food, great views of Mt. Katahdin. Nice menu.
Great place Beautiful views
Awesome arrangements. They made us really experience the nature. All precautionary actions were conveyed very nicely before rafting. Amazing experience!
Always a great time at NEOC
Stayed at a cabin before a rafting weekend. This place was nicer than my house. Radiant floor heating, switch-on fireplace, 4 bedrooms. Just great.
Second year staying here for the Millinocket Marathon. The cottages are incredibly comfortable and well outfitted. The restaurant is a fun gathering place. The view of Katahdin and the lake amazing.
Was snowmobiling for the day and stopped for lunch with 3 other people in our party. The hospitality and helpfulness of the couple who run the place was outstanding. We enjoyed our lunch - recommend that you stick to the sandwiches.
Cant wait to take a vacation here
Great food & atmosphere.
My husband, best friend and myself went to NEOC for lunch and some kayaking. The meal was delicious! Service was very good and the view was incredible. You can see the mountain from the restaurant! Lots of healthy meal options. Great wine selection. Reasonable prices.
Great snowmobiles, great rental clothes. Beautiful location, buildings, and well kept trails.
This place has everything! Including the absolute best lobster bisque youll ever find!
The wifi was not working well, but the cabin was gorgeous and I really loved it here.
A group of us has stated here twice thus far and love it. Friendly, helpful staff... Clean grounds... Great amenities! Were scheduled back two more times in the next year.
Great base to explore & recreate.
Very nice camp sites. Close to Katahdin and the rafting tours were super awesome. Ian our raft guide was super cool!
Great service. Amazing food. Very friendly atmosphere. Beautiful view while dining.
Great food, very friendly staff, great accommodations, fat-tire and snowmobile rentals, XC trails not consistently groomed for classical, mostly free-style (skate), no beginners area; ratio of miles driven to kilometers skied is poor [dont go if XC is the one reason you want to go unless you include it with a loop to the Presque Isle area, Sugarloaf, Rangeley, Bethel (check a map of XC area in Maine)].
Ate at the restaurant. Very nice setting, food was good, and fresh tasting. There was a good beer selection. We ate on the patio that had beautiful views of the lake and Mt Katadhin in the background. Would definitely go back.
Friendly staff and well maintained facility. Great place to get away but have all the amenities of home. Wi-Fi, restaurant on premise with great food and cozy atmosphere. Great for ice fishing, hunting, snowmobiling or just getting away. Camps big and small so will accommodate any size group. Highly recommended and well worth the stay!!!
Very friendly staff! Very good food and portion size!! Mike eyes popped out of his head when his Mac & Cheese showed up!!!
Super awesome place! Great food, beautiful views, and wonderful staff.
Want to go snowmobiling and see Mount Katahdin and the West Branch of the Penobscot River? Then this is the place to go. Not to overlook the great food at River Drivers Restaurant and the comfortable cabin on the shore of Millinocket Lake. We had direct access from the cabin to the lake to go snowshoeing.
Stayed at the Fox Den, very clean updated cabin. The use of canoes and kayaks were nice! Stay was friendly, and the view of Katahdin is breathtaking! If you dont want to cook in the cabin, the food/bar at the River Drivers was convenient and delicious.
People are friendly. Great location to stay. Lots of activities to do
Super clean campground surrounded by nature and very close to Baxter State Park. We had a great time at the main center where you could enjoy some pool games. They even have a bar and a restaurant! Staff was super friendly. If you plan on hiking Mount Katahdin, make sure you reserve your parking in advance either online or by the phone otherwise you have to show up at the park gate at 5am. We were there at 4:45 am and by 5am there was 7 cars waiting behind us so be there early they have a very limited number of parking and if you dont get one, they dont let you in.
New England Outdoor Center has something for everyone. It really does! NEOC can help plan your wedding, reunion, business meeting, or family vacation. The cabins are clean and newly remodeled, the restaurant has great service and food, the river has great thrills, and the lake and the views are sooo breath taking and relaxing.Id recommend NEOC to anyone for anything!! You have to be here to believe how amazing it is-
This is the sister resort to POC (up the road further). Just cabins, no camping - really GLAMPING at its best! A full service restaurant that makes you feel refined in the woods. Excellent place for cannoning if you are staying up at POC.
Outstanding Service, Food and Grounds
Friendly staff clean and nice will be back
I stayed for a 3 day professional event inclusive of their rafting services. The staff was knowledgable, fun, and great hosts. The cabins were very comfortable and better than I expected. The restaurant had exceptional service and great food. Their location is beautiful with a great oppurtunity for viewing the sunset and sunrise over the nearby mountain every single day. Will definitely return!
Great place for snowmobile gas and a fancy dinner in the middle of nowhere. They carry 93 octane ethanol free gas for the snowmobilers. I havent stayed at their cabins so I cant say how overnight stays here are.
Had a great time. Cabin was comfortable and clean. Close to Baxter state park. We took advantage of the kayaks and just enjoyed the amazing views
Incredibly delicious food, I was really impressed! Very nice staff and a beautiful building. Such a great addition to Millinocket.
The employees were very nice, friendly and helpful. We did not have an issue with anything. They were very accommodating.
Inside is nice. Rooms are a good size. Outside looks like a bunch of sheds though..not really a cabin look to it.
Beautiful location, delicious food and drinks, and wonderful service.
