I didnt go to the park...But we drove across this bridge!!! Downtown San Francisco is awesome. Drove right past the transamerica building. Ive only seen it on TV its HUGE on your coastal drive down 101 make sure you cross this bridge!!
I give the Golden Gate National Recreation Area FIVE GOLDEN STARS. If youre giving the Golden Gate National Recreation Area one star you are very lame. its always been a place to come visit and enjoy its beauty. s THE GOLDEN GATE NATIONAL RECREATION IS A 5 STAR PLACE.
Popular spot for July 4 picnic. Nice beach. Bring own food and tent though, hard to find a closeby restaurant.
Absolutely brilliant, cycled across the bridge.Stunning view of the bay,so good, one more of the list.San francisco what a place...
A great place to relax and explore around in! There is a long trail along the coast that leads to beautiful scenery. Be wary of the rocks near the coast however; they can be hard to trek through and can be dangerous if inexperienced. Also remember to check the weather or else the fog will cover up the bridge. Other than that, enjoy the view and bring your friends along for a great walk near one of San Franciscos most iconic symbol!
Absolutely gorgeous. Had a great time at the bridge. Our tour guy took us by the old army base that overlooked a beach and gave a great vantage point of the bridge.
This area of Northern California is beautiful and at one time in the early mid 1800’s some of this land belonged to my 2G Great Grandfather. I have a mystical connection to this part of the Golden Gate Bridge! This place is family friendly and every American Family should come and spend a family vacation here. They will not regret it!
Beautiful area, beach, trees, and happy people walking or cruising around. Definitely visit if you’re in SF!
Great birding amongst the cows. Waterways and cool breezes!
It is a must visit place once in a life time. Each and every person loves this place.
What a lovely place. Beautiful scenery and gorgeous views. People are so awesome around you. Great for photography and some lovely stuff
WOWGreat place for a hike. Best to find a time when or is less foggy (see pictures).Even with fog it was easy to find the trails, and the views weren’t half bad.Weather was slightly cool and nice, perfect for a short 2-4 hour hike.
Sunrise is spectacular up here. Lots of parking and the morning sun puts some incredible light on the bridge. My little iphone didnt do it justice but if youre more of a photographer than me (which is anyone with a half decent camera) you would love the sunrise there. Grab a coffee before you head up and wear some layers as it can be chilly!
This for fort Funston. Today it was extremely windy otherwise it was a perfect weather. Great to bring your dog. A few miles of hiking trails and gorgeous view of the coastline. Parking is free with plenty of parking spots. Bring water.
I have been walking this park for over thirty years... i am never disappointed.
Beautiful. People staying safe, eg small groups wearing masks. Parking can be challenging.
Beautiful views!!! Great workout getting there, making it worthwhile and eliminating the crowds. Good anytime of the year as the temperature is pretty comfortable.
Awesome. The trees are amazing and while your here go see the beach close by. Amazing views at the beach, cant remember the name maybe Mehr beach. Parking is miserable, sometimes you have to walk really far to the entrance of the park. Well worth the drive. Cell phone service can be touchy. Many tourist, they can be rude. Not much as far as food or anything but a small gift/coffee shop. There is a small town just over the bridge that was nice, Sausalito, get lunch there.
Badly in need of renovations, but I hope they dont tear it down. I like to be able to walk along over the water.
Beautiful hike area easy access for families and side trails.
The beautiful SF city skyline can be viewed from the deck of this historical and iconic bridge! ....Enjoy the panaromic view of San Francisco Bay area along with the bay bridge.........The city of warriors! This historical place is worth for touristy things. The welcome center of the park gives access to the historical connotation of this oldest suspension bridge....With high winds and sunny weather in summer, its the perfect view offers one of the best city line views around the world.....
Beautiful place with fantastic views. You will find quite a bit of parking. It has free charging spots for your electric car. This has a nice beach to relax benches across the whole stretch to sit relax and eat.
Great park, amazing views and fresh are within downtown San Francisco.Amazing view at sunrise and sunset of Golden Gate Bridge, SF downtown.
There are some illustrate/ small scale of bridge structure to explain the Golden Gate Bridge design. Highly recommend to take time explain kids about the science to get them to interest science and engineering. If you are not in a hurry, you can rent a bike or walk on golden gate bridge.Be careful walking on the golden gate bridge. There are a lot of bicycle riders. They have the left lane on north bound of walk way. Check the sign on the pedestrian path before starting.
Great place. I rode a bike throw th golden gate. It was fantastic. I really recommend to take a ride
Nice place for conducting meetings. Great views
Visiting the Golden Gate park/area coming from Arizona is beautiful/refreshing Anytime of the year. Walked around the pier and the wharf! Fresh delicious seafood!! Mmmmm
Golden gate national recreation area. Has a lot of great places that you can visit with your family. There are some area like Point Cavallo, Battery Yates, Golden Gate Bridge view vista point, Kirby Cove Beach, Black Sands Beach, Rodeo Beach, The Marine Mammal Center; among of others. Nice place for walk, learn about nature, swim, and the most important spent time with your family.
Awesome.. today I made a new friend/walking companion.. a small coyote.. he fallowed me for a half a mile and then turned around and left.. lol he was cute! Unfortunately my phone battery was down to 4% so I couldnt take any pics.
The Views are spectacular take time to watch the fog roll in. Clean and well maintained garden and walking area. Well worth a stop.
Must visit place when you are in Bay area. I recommend esp Hawk Hill and Point Bonita. In Hawk Hill, you will get a great view of Golden Gate bridge and San Francisco (when there is no fog, that is). Point Bonita is one of the light house in West coast. There are some good information in there . Overall, this is a good place to do some outdoor activities and close to San Francisco!!
Went to the Disney family museum and it was beautiful. We went for memorial day and surprisingly it was very quiet. The museum itself was really cool to see the history of Disney. The workers there are also super friendly, kinda felt like I was at Disneyland. Would recommend going here even if youre not a huge Disney fan, its great to see the history of art, and how things were back in the 30s.
Get off at the first exit after the GG bridge driving North and follow the road along the coastline. It becomes a one-way road with spectacular views of the SF bay. Pick a warm day when the high-pressure system is keeping the fog away and you are in for a real treat. We saw deer, coyote, seals and whales playing in and around the water. There are picnic benches and BBQ stands for public use and great views from every angle. No running potable water (just an outhouse) so bring your own.
Incredible weather and views from Morí Point
Didnt have enough time here...amazing place...so many museums and activities...amongst an absolutely beautiful park...days..weeks..month could easily be spent here.possibly the best part of San Francisco
A must stop for locals and visitors alike. The walking path is great to stroll and enjoy the beautiful views and fresh ocean air. And of course you have the world famous Golden Gate Bridge, too. On a windy day, bring a kite and or just chill and enjoy the view.
Love California had a blast.
Very pretty beach tucked in between the hills and the water, a must visit if you are nearby. Very foggy most of the year however.
The whole presidio area of SF is a great spot to get away from all the city traffic and noises. I love the green grass field outside of Walt Disney Museum. Bring your four legged buddy and spend few hours or sit on the field with a blanket- all free!
Beautiful park and an amazing hike. if you are looking for something to do outside of exploring the city, get outside and see some gorgeous views.
The place was very helpful. Had lots of informative this NGS regarding the Golden Gaye Bridge.
Its a must attraction if visiting San Francisco. You can take good pics from both sides of the bridge but grounds for playing and sun bathing is on water level. You need to bring your drinks and food if you are intending to stay for several hours as they there are no restaurants and cafes nearby. There are people fishing around, and some others are just sun bathing.
A must visit place for tourists. The view is spectacular. The weather was very pleasant. Most importantly the view of Golden Gate Bridge was crystal clear. Just dont keep anything valuable in the car. Car break ins are normal all across San Francisco. It happened with us at the Fishermans Wharf near Pier 39.
Excellent view, u need to have a lot time to spend here. If you come from Fishermans Wharf you can take route 47 at North Point street to Van Ness av and then take 28 route directly to Golden Gate Bridge, you can return in the same way. In the welcome center you can find restaurants, clean bathrooms and parking space
Beautiful view of San Francisco from up the hill, just take the last exit before the bridge heading south and head straight up the hill... amazing!
Exceptionally beautiful. The drive is just marvelous, plus it has hiking trails and 100s of bikers everyday in Marin County. Spent the whole day here.Cant get enough of the photography potential this place has with views of the bridge, the gorgeous rocky shoreline, abundant wildlife, Tree canopies and formations, etc. (The list goes on).
A perfect break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Sometimes you wouldn’t even know you were in the middle of San Francisco. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge from Baker beach are beautiful too :)
A few things to note. It may look like a lot of parking but it runs out very quickly, so show up early. Be prepared for lots of hills. Also be prepared for a lot of sun. There are almost no trees.
This area is one of the most exquisite locations in the world. Golden Gate National Park incorporates parts of San Francisco, CA and across the Golden Gate Bridge to Marin County to the North, including Muir woods. It is well with the time to visit and stay for a few days, maybe in picturesque Sausalito if not San Francisco
A great place to visit and explore. Very family friendly.
Amazing views with a beautiful hiking trail along the cliffside! Love this place & dog friendly!
Walking the Golden Gate Bridge is an unforgettable experience. The size of it is impressive but the height above the ocean is very interesting. The view over San Francisco is beautiful and all together makes it a great place to walk across.
Awesome location. The recreational area is well developed. Wen we were there there was fog do the view was very good.
Even though Ive lived here all my life, I still get goosebumps every time I see the golden gate bridge from baker beach. Simply phenomenal...especially on a clear warm winter day.
I love to be here in the very famous and iconic bridge of san francisco. I feel i can spend a whole day to enjoy the scenery around the golden gate park. If you have a hobby in photography, I think this place will satisfy you. Just bring your gear out and start take a pictures. And there is a coffee shop to fulfill your caffeine needs.
What can I say? It is a hikers paradise! Multiple staging areas, fantastic trails from Mt Tam to Coastal camp. Trails are well marked and the beauty is world famous. There are trails for experts, beginners and everyone in between. There are latrines at all the campsites which is great for full day hikes. Some spots have handicap accessible portions. Spend an hour or spend a month.
Great hiking, beach, historic bunkers, lighthouse and visitor center. No food services, but there are restrooms and drinking fountains. Close to Sausalito.
Tennessee Valley is a wonderfully diverse area to explore. The main drag to the beach is a well-populated but pleasant mini-hike. If you take a side trail, youll forget how many people you saw at the beach! The Coastal Trail was closed as of 5/28/18 (looked temporary), but the Wolf Ridge / Hill 88 / Miwok trails were open and beautiful. There were points where the trail looked guarded by wildflowers -- growing over the trail so you have to squeezed through them. That hike was a LOT of uphill with some shady spots, beautiful views, and amazing wildflowers.Pro tip: In addition to cleaning up after yourself, it would be great if you picked up a few extra bits of trash on your way out, to keep this place pristine! (Its always a nice touch to go beyond just packing out what you bring in.)
It is really nice to be here. To be relax, to have a hike with your family and friends, and most of all, to have chance to enjoy the great nature here. There is water, mountain, trees, hiking trails. Amazing views here. I have taken plenty pictures here. Enjoy.
Awesome place for anyone to just walk around and enjoy the beautiful sights. So many people from all around the world come through this place, just great!
Very relaxing walk, full of locals and tourists. Gorgeous views. Before reaching the bridge wer walked through a park and encountered coyotes, it was a little bit unnerving ...but they have signs everywhere telling you what to expect and what to do so it was ok.
So many awesome things to see. The Japanese tea garden was Great! Definitely recommend this place!
This park has managed to bypass the requirement that national park areas be contiguous. As a result, we would be talking.about many very different areas in the Bay Area, I may be telling you about a part of the park while you are thinking of another. This place generally has captivating scenery and is very good to unwind on the weekends.
A great place to learn about the history of the bridge! Google for a self-guided tour of the bridge.
The hike into Tennessee Valley Beach is less than 2 miles and pretty flat. Kids rode their bikes both ways easily. The beach was gorgeous and not overcrowded. I guess the hike in scares off the masses.
Beaches, cliffs, hills, forts, and towering redwood trees make up the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, easily accessible from San Francisco. Many visitors come to embrace the outdoors, whether hiking, biking, swimming, birding, riding horses, or whale-watching. But this scenic area is also rich in history and includes landmarks like Alcatraz prison and the Presidio, an 18th-century military post. You can even base yourself within the recreation area; Cavallo Point’s rooms and suites occupy restored turn-of-the-20th-century Colonial Revival buildings that overlook San Francisco Bay.
Do it! Every stop we made was excellent! Ft Point, Muir Woods, Muir Beach, Marin Headlands, Palace of Fine Arts, Alcatraz, Angel Island.
Great place for a day hike, picnic or just to hang out. You can even take your bikes on the ferry then enjoy a day cruising the more secluded spots. But remember dont chase the geese. And even if Warner said you could feed the deer... She lies!
Old place in Broken Bow Oklahoma just happened to pick up a California location because this was took in Broken Bow Okla.
I had a blast. Very pretty and scenic
Golden Gate National Recreation Area is a huge collection of properties all around the San Francisco Bay Area, all managed by the US National Park Service. Most of the land was former US Army and US Air Force bases that are being converted into park land. Most of the properties are easily accessible from residential areas, often by bus or bicycle or even on foot. There are many spectacular viewpoints as well as historic area and ecologically fascinating areas. I suggest that you visit their website and then try to visit different parts of the GGNRA since each property has its unique charm. The area immediately north and south of the Golden Gate Bridge is the most popular, but GGNRA has much more to offer.
Had a lovely visit here in November 2018some really good views you really need to take your camera with you when your hereI hope some time me and my wife will return
Awesome place for a drive and a hike, been there twice. Must visit
Breathtaking structure
Very nice nature, great for hiking.
Plenty of space to decompress from the city. Attractions throughout the park.
While the southern side has more attractions, the views and trails on the northern side are more spectacular given the backdrop of the cities and the immemorable bridge. Just be warned that your Kodak moment shots will be subservient to Bay fog even during mid-afternoon.
I had no idea that this was in San Francisco but super glad my wife found out about it. We went to the Walt Disney museum and that was well worth it. Seeing all he did in his life and hearing him tell the stories was incredible. We also walked to the Lucas arts office to see the Yoda water fountain and all the movie stuff they have on display (the kids and I liked that way to much). This place also has a great view of the golden gate bridge. Well worth spending a day walking around learning about the area and the tunnel tops area.
Great scenery, needles to say, great place to ride bike, walk, and have a picnic. If youre going to ride your bike on the Golden Gate Bridge, make sure to follow the rules. If not the daily boke riders will Definitely remind you.
Beautiful area. The batteries situated around the area are pretty cool, but they have been defaced with some pretty uninspired street art unfortunately.
Excellent place with beautiful views and well signed trails.
Wonderful place to visit. Views are incredible. Typically packed with tourists, Parking can be tricky. Lots of history and places to explore. If you know the story of the jail break from Alcatraz parts for the makeshift boat they prisoners made were found i8n GGNRA by the GG Bridge.
Awesome place to visit. I prefer to bike the bridge instead of driving because you can’t really enjoy when driving is better to take your time and see the story of the bridge and the big columns . Amazing structure.
Its a bit touristic and you probably need to buy chocolate at pretty much grocery store prices, but its a nice place to walk around and shop. Get ice cream if you have the time and lines are short enough. They definitely do things right in the old factory area.
Beautiful views of the Golden Gate Bridge and skyline of San Francisco. Plenty of parking available. The visitors center is quite interesting and worth a stop; has the Junior Ranger badge program available for kids.
You got to see the Nike missile site. Great tour guides. Good unknown history.
Fun times. Do the junior ranger programs
Great lookout point! The parking can be an issue, but luckily we got one very quick!
Its nice, but the Park Police are a bit overzealous with ticketing the public. It doesnt make for a nice environment. Id rather just avoid it.
Such a beautiful piece of old San Francisco nestled right above millionaire row. I love this park, love this walk.
Great place for a quiet walk. Beautiful view.
