About 3/4 mile up the hill from the parking lot. Worth it to see a WW2-era gun emplacement in excellent condition including example of the type of 16 gun that would have been used here and Battery Davis at Fort Funston. The old munition-storage bunkers have been retrofitted into a visitor center of sorts that is well worth the visit once they open again.

Worth the ~20 minute uphill hike from the parking lot below. Nice views of the ocean from this former gun bunker. The serenity of the sleepy ocean views among fog and mist, combined with the rusting remains of mid 20th century industrial weaponry, give this place a slightly surreal vibe

Super cool. Bang on the welded doors in the entrance, the tunnel system creates an epic echo

A nice view of the Marin Headland area. Im not sure how the hike is to get to the top but by bike its steep coming from the south but not too bad coming from the north but the road quality isnt the greatest. Getting to see the old cannon close up is cool.

Steep 15 minute hike up from Rodeo Beach. The Battery consists of two massive gun emplacements for WWII. The barrel of a similar gun is placed outside the concrete emplacement as an exhibit. Great views.

Walking up to Battery Townsley from Rodeo Beach is my go-to morning hike. Great views and good cardio. Plus the history of the place is interesting. The nearby military tunnel installation is open once a month, I believe.

A fairly large battery in the Marin Headlands which had two massive war guns to protect the Golden Gate Bridge and the surrounding region from attacks during WWII. A bit of a hike about 10 to 15 minutes uphill to reach but not to difdicult and the views are pretty nice also.

This is an awesome place but the wind and fog is no joke. Dress warm and in layers. Hike if you want but why hike when you can bike!

This hike is an easy one yet still thoroughly enjoyable. It is close to the city and a short hike but the views are stunning and it isnt too crowded.Bring food and water and enjoy your lunch overlooking the Pacific Ocean. If you only have a couple of hours for a hike and you are in southern Marin or in SF this place is ideal.
