Very cool and interesting museum. Very good with covid, hand sanitizer everywhere. It had some interactive activities which was cool. The best part was the carnival like game where you’d win a choice of a mustard if you could get a ring around it. Informational video is very old, 80s I believe, but interesting in itself because the European countries where it took place used their old currencies. Overall highly recommend!

This museum was great, but it really discriminated against ketchup. As an open minded individual, I’m fine with the idea of a mustard museum, so long as it also has at least at least a small bit of respect for ketchup. This establishment, however, does not carry any sort of respect for ketchup, and blindly sings the praises of mustard, without even giving a passing mention to ketchup, and all the good it’s done for the progression of condiments. This museum is a great catalog of the achievements of mustard, with well thought out exhibits, showing off the feats and applications of mustard throughout the years, and I would recommend it to any mustard supporter or devotee.I would not recommend this museum to ketchup supporters, as I feel it would offend them as much as it has offended me.I will not be returning to the mustard museum, but if you are a supporter of mustard or just interested in its history, I would highly recommend this museum.Super_Soup2020Edit: I received a response from the owner, they said“Our battle with ketchup is tongue in cheek and it is meant to be humorous and almost all of our visitors see it that way. Well, not all - you are the only visitor in 27 years to find offense. For that, I apologize but our good-natured fight with ketchup will continue.”I don’t think you understand how violent and misleading your museums propaganda campaign against ketchup has been.Because of your establishments blatant lying and fear mongering, hundreds lay dead in the streets, and all ketchup supporters can do is stand by and watch. You have single handedly toppled the ketchup economy, and this is a crime that can not be forgiven.I will be creating a resistance through which to stop your gross violation of our basic condiment rights.Expect us.Super_Soup2020

This museum is adorable! 100% worth the visit. Upstairs, every kind of mustard you’d ever want to buy, including fruit mustards, and miscellaneous canned goods. Downstairs, full of antique mustard cans and pots, mustard art, quizzes, and videos. There’s even a game where you can win a bottle! Left armed with a free mustard, root beer mustard, a jar opener, and a bag full of Xmas gifts! This is a must visit place, and it brightened my day. Afterwards, you can walk around the little shopping area, and have lunch in the picnic area.

Never planned on visiting the National Mustard Museum... of course that’s in part due to not knowing it existed. Happened to have breakfast at the neighboring diner and couldn’t help but notice the National Mustard Museum. So glad we stopped in, although I never considered myself a mustard aficionado, this is a must see if you have about 15-30 minutes to explore the museum and store. Their displays are unique, informative and in many cases very punny .Everyone is either fond of mustard or knows someone who loves the spicy preparations. Great gift ideas and both funny and seriously tasty options.

There is a tasting station of mustards of your choice. Soft hot pretzels can be purchased also. Downstairs is the museum. You will find a mustard history movie running. A mustard vending machine. Displays of mustard jars from all over the world. Fancy mustard pots also on display. The museum gets only a four star rating for not making the museum wheelchair accessible. You should be able to see it all in hour. Museum is free but takes donations.

Listen, Ive been around the block a few times, not just in Middleton, WI, but all over the world. Ive never seen a place like the Mustard Museum. It is one of a kind...and thats the beginning. Holding the Guiness Book of World Records award for having the most mustards under one roof is a good start. But the journey through the store is an event of its own--and then, theres the museum. Bring your tastebuds and some money for purchasing your tasty treasures. Then open your mind to a world of mustardly amazing history and legend. This is a destination place. Aside from being in a lovely mid-western town--Middleton, the museum is an experience second to none. Plan to spend at least 90 minutes so you can soak in more than a few free samples and the finest mustard history and humor in the hemisphere. Curator, Barry Levinson, is a master of history, humor and is on a mission (still) to continue educating humanity about everything mustard. In the summer, you can even attend National Mustard Day and taste Mustard Custard. Yes, it is quite yummy. One of my favorite epicurean sites of amazement, the National Mustard Museum should be on your list of places to see before you die. Heaven forbid you live without experiencing the rapture of mustard over the doldrums of ketchup. Next stop, a mustard seed farm.

Amazing Fun and Friendly PlaceWe were looking for something to do in the Madison area, and came across the National Mustard Museum on the internet. The positive reviews and comments were accurate. This is a great place to visit and enjoy. Everyone has had mustard at one time or another. Most of us enjoy it on a favorite food. But, until you visit the museum, its hard to imagine the depth and variety of mustards available to us.The museum offers samples of the hundreds (maybe over a thousand) of types of mustard available to purchase. From the regular yellow and brown, to the sweet, and extra hot; theyre all here. Clean and sanitary is the rule as a clean sample spoon is used with each taste. A few other samples are on the display tables, and one dip pretzel sticks are available for that sample.Downstairs the museum has a nice international display, information boards, and an interesting video. Its all worth seeing!Free admission.Ample parking in the area.Handicap friendly.

Mustard, the Original King of SpiceWhen someone suggested I visit the Mustard Museum, I laughed. What could be so important about a mustard plant and a condiment called “prepared mustard?” I would soon find out how wrong I was.Egyptian pharaohs were so attached to the mustard seeds that upon their death, their tombs were stocked with them to be taken to the afterlife. In 1926, there existed for five years, a mustard club that ended due to the Great Depression. Throughout history, mustard was used for many aliments as well as a healing technique. The museum is located in the lower level of the store with a diverse and visually pleasing array of mustards in showcases from around the world. You can watch a film on the history of mustard in the Mustard Piece Theatre and later read the story of how the yellow M&M came to be. There is a beautiful collection of porcelain mustard pots by the Reinhold Schlegelmilch factory of Suhl, Germany.Upstairs, the staff will help you at the mustard tasting bar as they explain your choice. For purchase, the store carries domestic, foreign and gourmet mustards, gifts and swag from Poupon U.Overall: This was a fun and educational stop in a day full of sightseeing. I purchased from their top sellers the Slimm & Nunne Sweet & Nicely Hot Mustard.
