Weve been coming to this park since I was a kid. Its not very big, but theres a picnic shelter, playground, and restrooms (seasonal?). Its a great workout to go up the stairs of the mound a few times. My parents used to bring us here every year for the amateur radio picnic.
Very nice. Fun and well maintained! Climb the mound!
We took our 7 year old twin grandchildren. They enjoyed climbing the mound and playing on the playground equipment. The only complaint is that the public bathrooms are closed from October 15 - April 15!
I had such a lovely time and I the park was kept up nicely. Cant wait to go there with the kids
My husband and I were traveling to Indiana and made a quick pit stop here at the Mound. Him and I both share an interest in the mound builders so we were able to scratch this historical site off our list of places to visit.
We had a good time all the kids wanted to go up the hill they had A great time.
Cool place -- interesting history of the mound, a heart-pumping walk/jog to the top, then a great view at the top
Not a lot of effort spent on maintaining what presumably is a historical site
And wonderful historic place to visit.
Really fun place to end a date to see a beautiful sunset and a place if u want peace and quiet it is also a good place to do so
Beautiful grounds. Impressive...
Wonderful Park with 2 picnic shelters that also have grills. The Miamisburg Mound is a major prehistoric Adena Indian feature in Ohio. It is the largest conical shaped earthwork of its kind in the United States and possible the world.
This was pretty interesting to see! It was funny to me to hear the cars on the road from the top of the mound .
One of the biggest mounds in Ohio. The park is clean and well-maintained. There is a big shed for parties or events or simple gatherings just across the mound.
Love this place park and a history lesson for grandchildren. Large Indian Mound.
You cant help but to think about the ancients as they stood there over looking the great valley below.
You can see the tops of the tallest buildings in dayton from on top of the mound!
Great workout spot! 115-ish steps divided into 6 sections.
Miamisburg mound Adena culture.one of two of the largest conical burial mound in north America. The other is Grave creek mound. The city of Miamisburg is having bicentennial June 16th . The mound is having Renovations and preservation done as of May 15th next they will be seeding the entire mound .
This was a great park to spend some time running around with the kids while visiting family nearby. The history of the mound was fascinating and the views from the top went on for what seemed like forever.
It’s beautiful from the top looking out and down, as well as from the bottom looking up into its mass. Almost immediately after beginning the incline up the stone steps, you can feel the earthly and magikal vibrations flowing beneath you. Don’t forget to marvel in it all!
Really neat piece of history in Miamisburg. Nice park and the view from the top of the mound is pretty spectacular. Definitely worth the stairs!
Nice park, historical site
Good place to get a great view of the area above the treeline
My favorite was to go there at night to the top for lunar eclipses.
Amazing view on top, and interesting historical significance.
Lovely park with 2 age-appropriate playgrounds and a giant mound to climb.
Told about the aadena Indians being buried there and what was found under the mound plus...theres a fantastic view of all of miamisburg! awesome
Excellent view on top and great plaque describing the history
I love the Mound! My family has been doing our family reunions there for over 30 years and hopefully we have no intentions of stopping. Its got a great location and the scenery is beautiful. Bathrooms are fairly close to the shelter and it has two playgrounds for children to play on. The mound is actually an old Indian burial ground. I havent seen it done in a long time but I remember as a child every so often we would see a group of Indians walk circles around the base of the mound playing instruments in singing. It was a really cool experience to witness.
Amazing view the top, the trick is getting up there! What a trek, but it was worth it!
Very nice place to walk
According to the Ohio History Connection website, “Miamisburg Mound is one of the two largest conical mounds in eastern North America. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the mound is 65 feet tall and 800 feet in circumference and contains 54,000 cubic yards of earth. The mound is visible from several miles away because it stands atop a 100 foot high ridge above the Great Miami River. Steps have been built to the top observation platform, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the area.”Given its height, there is a beautiful sweeping view of the surrounding area. The signage was informative and the park well maintained. There is a playground and picnic shelter at the park.
Beautiful shelter, view of Mind is also grateful.
Great place! Great golf!
Great place for families
This sacred burial mound is the largest in the State of Ohio. This mound lacks the artistic beauty and advanced astronomy of Serpent Mound, but its massive size sets it apart. The fascinating part of this story not being reported, are the eight to ten foot tall human skeletons found nearby many of these mounds. These are the skeletons of the Giants who built the ten thousand plus mounds and earthworks in the central Ohio Valley. The first white men inquired of the local native American Indians regarding who built the mounds, and they conveyed the mounds were already there when they settled the area. The Smithsonian Institute has a repository of giant human skeletons from all over the United States, but is presently unable to locate this collection. DNA research into this mystery has undoubtedly already confirmed the following scripture to be infallible. Genesis 6:4 The Nephilim (giants) were on the earth in those days, and also after that, when the sons of God (angels) came in to the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown
Great park. A great view of Miamisburg from on top of the mound.
Nice small park in a quiet business park next to a golf course. Cool historical facts and good playground facilities for small to big children. As well as a very nice large covered shelter with fireplace.
Love it great views
There were a lot of steps climbing up to the top of the 65 foot mound, so it is a real work out! Once you get to the top you have an amazing view of the area. You can almost see downtown Dayton from the top. There are some playgrounds and a big place to run. Definitely a good place for a quick, historical stop!
Great place to see the skyline at night
Its a very large pile of dirt. Most impressive. Nice view.
Beautiful piece of sacred history. Quite a nice workout too. Spectacular views!
Could have more info on the natives but a neat place to go
This was a wonderful little pice of history I found! This area has 2 playground sections, picnic tables, restrooms, and tons of space to run around and play! The Indian burial ground itself was about 3 stories high (I do believe...Im not good at estimating height sometimes so dont quote me!!) And had a really cool view from the top. This place has 2 pokestop and a Gym for the Mobile game Pokemon Go, as well. :)
I come here once a month to get a good work out running up the 116 step stair case
This is an amazing historical place to visit whether you enjoy Native American history or just want to run the stairs for fitness
Amazing history and a great Park to spend some time in with the children
Cool place great views
Beautiful small community park
Long wal up
The coolest view for miles around. It’s a killer hike to get up the mound but totally worth it
Very restful and peaceful
Great place to take the family for a picnic or just some fun outdoors! Awesome veiw from on top the mound. Cool history about the location as well
Great place to visit!
A lot of steps but worth every step
Nice view from the top. Shelter and play area for kids.
Good history
Aerial photos of the Miamisburg Mound.
Love this place. Its quiet and I love going there just to sit and relax
The park is mostly golf course. With a little bit for kids to do. I wish the big kids park side and little kids side was a lot bigger. Giving them more to do.
Can you still visit the mound even though the park is closed?
Lunch was good
Good place to smoke
This is one of my favorite places to randomly go to always amazing. Go for the sunrise!!!
A great look into our states past.
Attended Light the Mound ceremony. Beautiful.
Pretty interesting. Located in a park, adjacent to golf course and subdivision. Scared me as I drove up, ( thought it had been absorbed by golf course) but was thrilled to see the huge mound up and around hill. Plenty of printed posted material to read up. Then plenty of steps to climb to reach top!.there is a play apparatus, and covered picnic area. It made a cool find along a pretty day drive.
Its a very nice historical landmark. Peaceful and has nice play ground equipment for children.
Love visiting this place.
Wonderful historic park!
Im glad I can experience the mound and it seems as if it is taken care of to a degree. However i cant give more than 3 stars because the park and surrounding area feels like a scrambled attempt to make use of land without completely eliminating the historical significance. Kinda rediculous to climb to the top and look over at a golf course with acres of rolling hills (sure look an aweful lot like smaller mounds guys). I wonder how many of the putting greens used to house sacrifical remains.....
Cool mound, really tall, nice views from the top. Nice shelter and playground. Cool free cold war museum across the street too.
Such an interesting burial site of native Americans. Great view
You can walk to the top of the mound and see for miles
Cool historical landmark and great for a workout! 116 stairs to the top.
Nice quiet park. Beautiful view from the top of the mound.
Good Pokemon go location
This is a fun place to go experience history while getting a little workout. Dont forget to visit the Cold War Museum across the street.
Amazing 65 foot Indian mound and lovely park for lunch.
This place is so cool. Get out, go up the mound. Also some cool geocaches around.
Fun park if you like going up a hundred steps
One of the few mounds in this area that you can climb a staircase to the top and enjoy the view. Nice play set, picknic area and bathrooms if needed. Also a lot of green space for kids to run and play. Excellent Native American historical site to visit for free with a parking area.
Have gone there since 8 yrs old, now 74.
This is an OK place to visit and a genuine Miamisburg landmark. The park is in decent shape, but the parking lot leaves something to be desired. Grass was a little too long and needed to be cut, but overall, its a decent city park. Make sure you climb the 117 steps to the top of the Mound to see a great view of the city.
Mysterious ancient mound. Well kept grounds. Great views of even more mysterious complex and surrounding views.
Good nine hole golf course. Can walk or ride, your option
Actaully visited the golf course. google hot it wrong
Nice park. It was quite. They are redoing the fence and steps to the mound that will make it much easier to walk up and down the steps
Enjoyed the playgrounds and shelters for our family reunion. The hiked up the mound to the amazing view it offered.
Pleasant view. Quiet and peaceful. A good place to watch the sunset and get a little exercise.
The two must-dos in Miamisburg: The Mound & Hamburger Wagon
