Amie Smith a customer service representative in Mesa, AZ office helped me in Sept of this year while I applied to get my lifetime hunting license. Of all the interactions I have had with customer service in my life, no one has surpassed her kindness and willingness to go the extra mile to help..Give her a raise.. Thank you Amie.

Go here, not to the Phoenix location. Like any government agency, AZGFD is flummoxed by Covid, but the Mesa branch has adapted better than some others. As of Sep 2020, the lobby is closed, but this branch has people who will come out and meet you. They even answer the phone, something that has never occurred in the history of the Phoenix headquarters. Yes, its still the government, and yes theyre cursed with the same terrible website as every other AZGFD branch, but employees here seem to make the best of things.

Every year I apply for hunts in 11 western states including Arizona. Arizonas website is by far the most difficult to navigate and most confusing. Earlier today their site wouldnt allow me to purchase a limited entry hunt application with a 2019 hunting license. I thought I had already purchased my 2019 license approximately 1 month ago. I searched my account on their site and I was not able to find the 2019 license I thought I had already purchased (I must have been mistaken). So I purchased my 2019 license and applied for the limited entry permits.Upon review, the permits all referenced a different 2019 license number than the one I had just purchased. Long story short... Their system tricked me into buying two hunting licensed for 2019. Their system didnt recognize the hunting license I purchased last month and I couldnt find it in my profile. I still dont know where to find this info on their system. After realizing what happened I called their main office to explain the situation. I spoke to a person that rudely explained their website says NO REFUNDS!. She didnt care their system didnt accept my initial license and fooled me into purchasing a second licensed for the same year. She just kept repeating NO REFUNDS! How rude.It really sucks when a government agency doesnt care about treating their customers fairly. I firmly believe their difficult to navigate system lead to this error and they dont care enough to fix it.But what do they care about what the public thinks.

One star is solely for the pain-in-the-a$$ hassle of registering a boat for the first time in person. Im not sure why the same technology they use for renewals cannot be used to make a new registration. If you want us to show up in person then staff your office for days that people can be available...maybe Saturday? Saturday until noon even. Nothing worse than having to take PTO to run to the game and fish department to register a boat. I hope they get this figured out before I buy another boat.

I had to go to this location twice, the first time the lady threw my documents back at me, she was rude the moment I walked up. So I left.I called and had a question and was hung up on and then given the wrong info, I found this out by going back in and given other info. Tried calling again and was cut off mid sentence and placed on hold. I’ve never been somewhere where I was treated so badly. Ever. Worst place ever. SO unprofessional

The Arizona Game and Fish is an awesome organization that is supported solely by the sportsman. Complaining about price is only showing how cheap some sportsmen are. The wildlife in Arizona is managed superbly and the Game and Fish are responsible for this extreamly important and necessary management field.

I have had mostly favorable interaction with this organization over the past 10 years and the tone of those exchanges have been completely dependent upon the circumstances. I have been engaged by agents in the field doing routine tag inspections many times which are routine if not always pleasant. Try to remember that these men and women are typically approaching, alone, an unknown group that is almost definitely armed many miles away from pavement. They are allowed to be a little edgy. Other times in the field they have been all business, investigating recent crimes. Looking for information about a disgusting poaching incidents that should be upsetting to any of us that wait to get drawn and pays our fees. Other sportsmen afield I have met are always incensed and outraged that they could be interrogated or that an agent could be suspicious of them. Ive never understood that sense of indignity, it is not like they were hauled off to jail or the hunt ruined. Id be surprised if an agent ever dealt with them for more than 10 minutes. Finally, I have found the field agents to be a tremendous resource when I have gotten drawn for a new area. I have called in (usually several times before receiving a call back but were all busy) and spoken with the agent in charge of a unit and just straight up told them it would be my first time in the unit and asked for advice about it. Now I make that call 3 or 4 months prior to the hunt but they have usually responded and been very helpful, once volunteering that the fellow would be out in that unit the next week if I want to try and meet up with them one day. Like I said it all depends on the circumstances. These men and women may work in a bureaucracy now but took the job for the love of outdoors. All year long they work protect and provide for me good access and opportunities to get out to fish and hunt in the great state of AZ. Yes, fees are a little high but it sure is nice to remind a hiker or naturalist that we pay for almost all the conservation programs with our fees. They get to enjoy the outdoors WE pay for, not vice versa.

Customer service to basic questions is GOD awful. They seem to be only able to give you an adress to get there. any simple animal hunting reg questions is too hard for them to answer. They seem upset when you have a real question(i.e when is opening day for waterfowl). Whoever answers the phone, they need to retrain. thank you!

Let me tell you a little bit about AZ Game and Fish. First of all they dont care a bit about the sportsman all their interested in is the dollar to pay some lazy a-- people to sit around and do nothing. I have been s resident of AZ for man years and there is no game inb this state and Game and Fish have no intention in replenishing it. you are a resident you wait 20 years to get drawn and when you do there is nothing to hunt and it cost you an arm asnd leg to get the tag and then you get in the field you are confronted with a smart a-- Game Warden that you pay to tell you that all he is there for is to write tickets. For all you sportsman and hunters dont waste you money supporting a worthless AZ game and fish spend the same amount of money or even less and go to Texas or Colorado or some other state that cares about the sportsman and there is game to hunt. DONT GIVE ARIZONA FIVE CENTS BECAUSE YOU ARE NOT GOING TO GET 2 CENTS IN RETURN.

It seems AZGFD wants their receptionists to answer questions versus passing you to an expert . Beware if youre asking a regulation question, you may get fined or worse based on an answer. They may know some pat answers but Ive gotten you should answers from them, which means theyre guessing. Also, I think their licenses are too expensive, as well as their permits. Calling measly javelina big-game and charging $50+ for a permit for the tiny bit of meat youll get from one is a joke. I wont bite. Fishing licenses as well-they should charge boat fishermen and Northern AZ folks much more since theyre the only ones catching all the fish. Without a boat, your fishing license is just a donation to AZGFD at least here in the valley. The tiny city park waters get fished out in a day or 2. Shore fishing SUCKS at Pleasant, etc. All other lakes are in bumf_k egypt. Maybe AZGFD needs to trim their budget to have reasonable prices. Also pissing matches sometimes occur - sheriffs and police will sometimes hassle you even though according to AZGFD youre in a valid hunting area.
