It may be a bit hard to find but it’s well worth the effort. The museum is home to over 60,000 items, with artifacts which were discovered locally as well as across North America. The museum offers tours and hosts groups ranging from seniors to preschoolers. A staffer is always on hand to offer background on all artifacts on display, and there are hands-on activities. Located in the rear lower level of the shopping plaza.

Anne held a great deal of archeological knowledge of Lake County, but was quite disrespectful of Native American culture in her presentation. She insulted the storytelling tradition of the Iroquois People when discussing ancient settlers in Ohio. She suggested Indian houses weren’t clean when referring to dirt floors and smoke removal systems from cooking and heating fires. She said no one would want to lie down on a buffalo hide because she found it too wiry, only rabbit pelts were soft enough for bedding in her opinion. I was embarrassed to be sitting with Indigenous Americans through these insults to generations of cultures, so we left in the middle of the presentation.
