We loved the option on eating upstairs on the outside patio !! They were very punctual and very nice. The drinks were good and the food! They also were trying to separate the groups of people which we liked. Best place to view the strip while you eat ️
Extremely happy with our choice having dinner here! Kimberly was extremely attentive and very nice. Will be coming back again here!
Does not deserve a full star. Went to patio dining, not full by any covid standard. 2 people working, young lady takes our drink order...15 min later a young man approaches and tries to take our order, we informed him about the previous encounter with the young lady and he leaves to continue to service other guests. No drinks yet and another 15 min later the young man approaches again and tries to take our order, we informed him of our 30 min wait on our first order and were leaving. He apologized, we did see the younger lady servicing other guest throughout this visit.Wont be back.
Id give it 1 star but the gumbo was really good. BBQ is just ok and the house chips taste burned. What really turned me off was the 2.5% upcharge to pay with credit card. Its 2020. I wont be back.
Waited way too long for our food, as a waitress i know that sometimes there is a struggle. but not once did our server come and even check on us or get us more drinks. the chicken tenders were hard. and when we had something wrong she just shrugged her shoulders and walked off. manager was not very friendly either. wouldn’t recommend.
The waiter was nice but the food was not good, dont think Ill be back
Slow service. overpriced and never got a receipt. The food was good but far from great. The view was nice
We always enjoy going to alfreds every time we come to memphis! Music great and great service!
Great food and service. Staff was friendly. The only complaint was the restrooms needed some attention.
Rude waitress, Rude manager!! Be prepared to wait a while if u order food. If u ask the waitress how much longer your food is gonna take, dont be surprised if she says I dont know, im not the cook
This place is Highly underrated!!Bar Staff is skillful. Friendly environment. ALL customers we had interaction with were nice. 4 different people around us had the wings...Everyone LOVED the taste and quantity of the order. I had the Egg rolls with spicy ranchsauce. ..Hands down the best Ive had. Also I had the Parmesan Chicken. It had a very Good flavor and a generous portion.I regret not taking pictures of ANY of these!!!Go.. I Guarentee You will agree with 100% of my experience here.
Bartender needs a little refresher in customer service skills, saw me sit down and took a little longer to ask what I wanted to drink. Probably not coming back here! 2.5 ☆
MY FAVORITE SERVERS ON BEALE! It was so great seeing China and Josh!!! Always great service, food and even in hard times they still bring a laugh out in their customers! Keep up the great attitude during this uncertain and pressing times!
Had the Cajun pasta & it was delicious. My boyfriend said the burger he had was good too. Our server was very nice, Ashley I believe. Good music too and nice environment!
BBQ pulled pork nachos were amazing! We go the chicken wings seasoned without sauce and those were really good too. We added a side of fries and they came out hot and fresh. My cousin enjoyed her salad, but said although the gumbo was good it reminded her more of rice and gravy and not the traditional Louisiana gumbo we are used to.
First time in Memphis, after having a hot day at the zoo, me and my fiancé tried to find the perfect first restaurant experience and we choice Alfred’s. The place is fun, the food is amazing but our waitress really set the deal. Her name is Courtney! She informed us that she was there since 10 am but was still allllll smiles!!!!! despite me literally seeing her running around like crazy! We sat upstairs in the outdoor patio today (7.3.20, late dinner around 6pm). she is AMAZING. So nice. So sweet. I rarely write reviews but like I told my fiancé, she’s the one that you have to brag on a review hoping whomever pays her sees it! LOVE HER WHICH MADE ME LOVE THIS PLACE ️ HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Great drinks, good food, outdoor patio
Such a neat place and awesome guest service!
Poor service. Our server Brandy, brown hair and skinny Caucasian lady took an hour to bring a water refill and 2 hours to bring our food. As soon as we left there was a pack of rats running around our table
It started out good, music was great but bartender and service was not. The wait staff and bartender are not friendly. This could be a great place but changes need to be made. Overall I was not impressed.
A bit more rustic than other bars, but the place scores with excellent food, fresh from the grill.Drinks are a great addition. A good address if you are travelling in the area.
Great atmosphere! Food was pretty good but the service is horrible. We has to ask for everything. Our food came out before we had plates, forks or a napkin. When asked, we kept getting ok and. Noone brought it. I eventually went to the bar as I was sitting upstairs on outside patio and asked bartender for napkins and forks. Waitress acted as if asking for what we should have gotten was irritating her. The guy I was with usually tips about 30% many times leaving 10 to 15 dollar tips over 18%. I wouldnt allow him to this time. Management could do to train or hire servers with better attitudes or who like their jobs. This is a great spot on Beale. Many of my friends from around the country visit however Im skeptical about referring. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere and the food. However, service can make or break a place. Visit was 11/2/17
Over priced, stale chips, bathrooms were disgusting, sloooowwww to serve, dirty place.Outside of the stale chips the food was mediocre.
Great staff, great food, their open and you should visit!
Came here today for lunch with my sister from out of town. The eating was going great until I found a hair in my food. I let the waitress know and she was foing to get the manager. Took 20 minutes for her to come back, and when she did, there was no manager. Said the manager said that she would just take half off of our ticket. We didnt get an apology or anything. Probably wont eat here again.
We sat upstairs on the patio. The view of Beale street was great. We had ribs which had great flavor. However, our waitress was one of the worst we have ever had. She was more interested in her friends at the next table than serving us. While our hands were full of barbecue sauce, she asked if we would pay our bill because she was leaving. When we received this credit card slip to sign, there was a 2.5% service charge included for using our credit card. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because of the great flavor of the food.
Horrible food and horrible service. The fish literally had grease dripping from it. The manager is rude and unprofessional.
The music was excellent! Reminded me of a hard rock band like INXS and Guns N Roses
Went here in 2008 on a trip to Graceland. Ive never cared for ribs, these were the BEST I have EVER had!! Its 2020 & I still think about them! Good thing I dont live anywhere nearby or I would be 800lbs!
Food horrible. Burnt, no cheese, rude waitress
1st time going 3/10/19, it was pretty neat since I ate a burger without cheese which I never do, it did take a while for me to get noticed and order food & a drink(pricey),crowd was picking up before the Grizzlies game, just need more attention around the bar area as ppl at tables were ordering a lot too.
Waited for food for 2 hours straight. Took about 20 minute just for the waitress to notice we were in the restaurant and then another 15 to bring drinks. Finally got our food and it was some bland chicken. They called Hot wings but it was actually plain chicken with a side of jalapenos. We ended up leaving.
Food was good. Not over the top. Roof top dining was awesome! Drinks were over priced. Service was terrible. Or waitress, Stacy, never checked on us but once, never brought napkins, silverware, or check on us for refills on drinks. She started off nice, but was downhill from there. Do not recommend this place except for the roof top experience.
We had the worst barbecue ribs we have ever had. They were tough and had no meat on them. We complained immediately. The server just laughed. We spoke to what we assumed was the manager and basically she was not interested. We only stayed in the place as it was pouring with rain
Obviously a touristy place in a touristy spot in Memphis. But we came here based on a recommendation and we were not disappointed. The ribs are saucy and tender, the beans have a mind bending savory taste. My only complaint isnt a complaint, more of a suggestion. The fried pickles are very sweet, which tastes wonderful. But it would be amazing if you rounded out that taste with a spicy ranch or something like that, the regular ranch made it too sweet for my taste.
Visited on a Thursday night around 6pm. I was THE ONLY guest when I walked in. There was a big sign outside saying Alfreds was world famous !!! I thought, how lucky I was to have wandered into a world famous place and have it all to myself.I ordered the slowed cooked half chicken barbecue style. It came with a side of cole slaw and fries and Texas Toast with it. The cole slaw was decent. The fries were OK as well. The chicken was cooked but not enough barbecue sauce and I had to ask for more. Service was decent, well since I was the only one around, would have been pretty pathetic if it wasnt!!!I got a coke and they brought it out in a single use plastic cup. I asked for a refill and they brought out yet another single use plastic cup instead of refilling the one I already had. Lousy! I dont see any reason why they cannot give me a proper glass and have to pollute the environment for a drink.Overall, I would say... dont bother. Certainly not a world famous place. Apart from being on Beale Street, there is nothing remarkable about it.
The bouncer was extremely rude for no prompted reason . other customers around said he was rude to them to. we never even made it in... He that is NOT how you run a business!!
Great bar try the southwest spring rolls they are amazing!
Kyra H. The bartender Saturday night, was so fast, professional & super nice and helpful! I recommend anyone to go to her while at the bar in Alfreds!! ️
Was in town for a conference at the Peabody Hotel and a group of 6 of us went into Alfreds on a Monday night and ordered drinks. Mind you the place was empty as we literally were the only patrons there. One of my group mates orders a Long Beach which she stated was not mixed right and I ordered a Long Island which was terrible but we drank them anyway.30 minutes later another group of 6 from our conference joined us and ordered drinks and food. Some of the individuals from our first group ordered a second round - the exact same drinks. My companion stated her drink was worse than the first and my Long Island tasted watered down like a pre-mix for 18 yr olds. A third individual from the second group ordered a margarita which had salt floating in the bottom of the cup like the bartender literally poured salt in the drink versus the salt being on the rim. I took the Long Beach to the bartender to let her know that there was something wrong with this drink and ask what she put in it. She goes on to tell me what all the bar associates did for us (I.e., change the music and make a Long Island w/ tequila) and how Long Islands don’t have tequila only vodka, triple sec and some other liquor. I’ve been drinking LITs forever and have never heard any bs such as that. She ran down this list like we shouldn’t be complaining and should be grateful or something - yea I don’t think so!!Mind you this place was empty when we got there at 9p and we were the only reason she made any type of money that night. Long story short she was one of the worst bartenders I have ever come across in attitude and mixology skills and I would never recommend patronizing this joint if she is there. Her name might be Karen idk - skinny, white, black haired chick. Our server J was the only bright spot so thumbs up to her, but we will be finding a different spot to patronize for the rest of the conference. Maybe there was a reason the bar was empty and she was working on a Monday night smh.
My family and I went to alfreds 6/15/19. The waitress was nice but the food wasnt that good. I ordered the pulled pork platter, and recieved it with the bread twist tie inside my pulled pork. The waitress took it back but when she brought it back it was the same plate. They just took the twist tie out. How do I know because it was the same slice of bread in the same spot on my plate. Then my youngest son burger was burnt. He didnt eat it at all. So thats 2 meals that werent good. So I asked to have them removed from my ticket. Manager told the waitress to tell me I ordered them I have to pay for them. So I requested he come to see me. He came 15 minutes later. He stated that he had to see it for himself. Long story short he removed just my sons food, but it shouldnt have taken all that. Just know that the kitchen staff dont really care about what you put in your mouth.
Food was fantastic, our server Marcus was great. Only issue was being able to get refills on waters but it seemed that they may have been understaffed which caused the delay. Overall good meal.
Good honestly tasted really good but we were very disappointed with the service. From walking in to a hostess who doesnt bother looking up from their phone to greet you, to waiting until your meal was nearly finished to get your second beer. I dont think its the fault of the server but maybe they just didnt have enough staff to cover things.
Tasteless and rude!
Love this place! We came on a Monday night, around 9p.m. There was live music playing, which we really enjoyed. The service was great, very friendly and attentive. And the food... so delicious!!! We came back the next day for more :)There are tasty vegetarian options, some of them can be made vegan. The deep fried green tomatoes & pickles are just too good!Between 12-2p.m. theres deep fried okra as well, which is delicious. They also serve excellent local beer, brewed in Memphis. We will definitely come here again on our next trip to Memphis!
The bouncer was friendly and attentive. Bartenders were fast and friendly! The drinks were good and made correctly too. The space is nice and the experience was nice. The live music... was incredible!! I was memorized by the gal singing Aretha Franklin songs! She had a beautiful voice and was truly an entertainer! Band was awesome and they even take requests! I will always visit when I am in town!
Fun place. Good music. Good waitress
Love the live band love the karaoke love the drinks and my wife love the wings
The service was good, with friendly servers and they were also quick. The food was mediocre, and the prices were a little higher than I would have liked, but understandable given the location. My only complaint was the server asking if we wanted fries or chips, without telling us there is a $3.00 up charge for fries. I was shocked to see $9.00 extra on my check for fries with our burgers. We were too early for music, so didnt experience it.
The bartender and kitchen bouncer were EXTREMELY RUDE!!! My guy ordered a top chef long island and they charged us $32 for a 12 oz plastic cup!!! We tried to explain that they overcharged us by ringing up each shot separately and all they could say is that we dont have a way to ring it up so PAY THE BILL AND GET OUT!!! The kitchen bouncer yelled out the front door for the police to come. An officer even heard the kitchen bouncer say that we werent worth $hi$!!! I came from St Louis to celebrate my birthday and this is how my day started. THANKS FOR YOUR TERRIBLE SERVICE ALFREDS...NEVER AGAIN!!!
Such a cool joint! Best bbq we had in Memphis and the staff is amazing! Deonne took the time to make an extensive to do list for us, amazing hospitality! We ended up stopping in multiple times rather than going elsewhere.
Our server was good enough, not the most efficient, I had to ask for refills, box, check. The restaurant is SUPER hot, sit near a fan. The band is EXTREMELY too loud, while the music was fine, there was absolutely no way to talk to those around you. The fried pickles were yummy, pulled pork was HORRIBLE, ribs mediocre at best, chicken alfredo pasta average, the chips that came with the burger were ok. Mixed drinks, while cute, were weak and watered down. Fairly pricey overall for what I seem to think came frozen and got microwaved. Save youre money and go somewhere else on Beale street. It wasnt the worst place but definitely not a place Id ever recommend. 2 stars bc its was cute and has an outdoor patio.
Stopped in Memphis for lunch to show the kids Beale Street. Saw Alfreds and it looked family friendly, so we stopped in. There were setting up for a party later that night, so they said there was only high top seating available. We explained we have a baby and a 6 year old, disabled child, that uses a wheelchair, so that would not work. They said we would have to sit outside because there was nothing that they could do. We decided to leave because it was not worth the energy to argue. Obviously, we wont be back!!
This place was great in terms of constant of attention to drinks in all other areas were dissatisfying. We were all given three options and as they came out with one just layer the plate in front of my table without asking whether we had ordered the dish or not they later came out with our ordered food. The problem could have easily been avoided through better communication and greater ways of managing the situation. The bathrooms were also dirty and looked like they had been unattended for the last couple of days. There were some great hopes for the restaurant however the musician and live music was great. Thank you Alfred’s I guess
Stopped for lunch and got to hear a great band doing sound check. Food was excellent (3 baked spuds and a chicken fingers) and service good. We had to ask to see the lunch menu, gave us the dinner one at first. Only reason for 3 stars was kind of a smoky atmosphere from people hanging around to talk to the band. We prefer our air clean and cancer free. Definitely worth a stop if you are on Beale St. BTW, the spuds are HUGE and you should share with someone else.
Stopped in for a snack and drinks and music. Bridget, our server wss one of the most competent and hard working waitresses I have encountered. Food served quickly and was good BBQ. Band was entertaining, playing Johnny Cash songs.
Cara the bartender is the best ! Service is great! Catfish is the best in Memphis hands down, highly recommend . Awesome DJ Flying Ryan
Starting with the good. The atmosphere was great. Good band, good environment. Their beer selection was good. A bit pricey. Our two 5$ beers came in plastic cups. My wifes burger and fries was good. Nothing special. I got a cup of gumbo which came with a plastic spoon.. it tasted like dog food and the chicken was tough. It had obviously been reheated several times. The service sucked. The management is also lacking as no one tried to correct this food grievance.
Loved the service, atmosphere, and food was amazing!!! We were in Memphis for 3 days and found ourselves here every day. Dionne was amazing!!!
Horrible Food !! No flavor or taste, very plain !!! Would not recommend ever if coming to Memphis
Waitress/bartender nice. However, most staff seemed extremely hurried. Also, asked for Tanqueray and tonic and watched her pour it but there was no way it was Tanqueray and was quite possibly not even gin. Switching out alcohol is intolerable, hence the one star. Beware.
I had a good time despite the fact I don’t like the smell of cigarettes in the air. The duo playing was decent that night but I guess I was expecting more of blues and jazz. Not their fault, there are plenty options of music on Beale. My waitress made a great effort to correct my dinner order when she noticed there was no chicken on it when the plate arrived (which I did not realize until I asked what was wrong), but the food was warm and not as hot as I would expect.
Family and I stopped here for a quick drink and snack. Waitress was very friendly and checked on us a good amount of times. The deck upstairs has a great atmosphere with a nice street view. Overall good experience.
Good service. The pulled pork nachos and the sausage and cheese plate were great that my wife and I shared. Cold beer. Awesome terrace seating over Beale Street. Had a great time while we were there. The waitress was hilarious.
Food was o.k. but overpriced. Specialty drinks are fun and you will feel them fast, but still expensive.
Had to ask for a waitress. When she took our order, she returned 20 minutes later to ask what our order was. Went to the bar to ask about a drink and even though they weren’t busy, couldn’t get a soul to ask if I needed anything. Food was ok, but not worth the nearly two hours for a sandwich. Management is non-existent. If the managers cared about customer service, they’d hire more wait staff instead of having one waitress for 30 tables.
Stopped in for a drink and heard a band that played mostly Johnny Cash covers. It was ok. The bartender was good and the drink selection was good. They serve some sort of drink in a cup the shape of a woman’s leg wearing a high heel and lacy stocking. This gimmick makes this place feel a bit touristy. We popped in because it was free. Probably wouldn’t pay to get in here.
The only thing this place has going on is location - upstairs patio looking on to Beale street and BB King Blvd. The server was slow, confused and messed up our order. Po boy shrimp was delivered on a super stale bun, kind of unbelievably stale. Food was bland. Cocktails were delivered in attention grabbing fish net stockings clad female legs (cool!) but were mostly frozen water. Skip it.
Alfreds doesnt look like much from the outside, or the inside, for that matter. The location couldnt be better at right on Beale. The food, though, is great! We had ribs and barbecue and didnt leave anything behind. The staff was helpful and friendly. Our waiter answered questions on the menu without pause. Service was really quick.
The service was aweful. The food tasted like burnt fish grease, and then they couldnt get the tickets right. The waitress barely wanted to service our table, but had the audacity to charge us an extra couple of dollars on the tickets she could never get right.
Never brought a menu.. had to find one myself. Took about 45 min before a waitress took my order. It was wrong... and while waiting forever on the food I was criticized for ordering drinks from the bar from the waitress instead of through her... if she would have given us the time of day I would have ordered through her... food was go.. messed up the order and the kitchen closed so they couldnt fix it.... never again
Our waitress was top of the line. Personable and friendly. The drinks were pricy, but not unusual for that type of place. The ribs were some of the best that I have ever had. Just left Central BBQ, not even close!
Service was prompt, beverages, appetizers and main meals at table of six. Food was good, above average. Gumbo, BBQ, Po Boys. Good local beers on tap. Memphis Jazz Orchestra was outstanding!
This place is the worst!!! Don’t eat here! The food is horrible. We ordered food and didn’t like it.. the district manager wouldn’t give us our money back.. then they called security on us! They have bad customer service!!! The food is so bad!! I mean really bad!
Greg Hardy plays a great Johnny Cash tribute and talks about his time with him.
This is our hometown bar away from home. Athena is amazing and the best bartender someone could ask for. The food is great and the atmosphere is on point! ️
Food was lousy, beer was over priced and slow service. 10 min after food arrived I had to obtain flatware myself for our table. PLASTIC 10oz cup of beer was 6.00. Ive had better microwaveable entrees at home.On the good side our waitress was friendly and personable.
Avoid at all cost. It looks attractive but this place has the worst service ever, if you even get to order in the first place. We waited nearly half an hour and didnt even get a glass of water. They did come to offer food that wasnt ours, and while we sat there we saw two couples complaining about their food being bad and one couple leave without paying for their food either because it wasnt ok.
Waitress was segregating against different races and refused to help us. Never going back.
Classic Memphis Beale St. Restaurant/ music venue. We had a great waitress named Natasha, who was very knowledgeable and efficient. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs BBQ dinner which was beer good. There was also a band on stage while we were there.
The food ranges from Memphis BBQ to Cajun seafood. The quality is decent but could be improved. They often have live music, rooftop seating, and some local Ghost River brew on tap.
Called in for a drink really nice place to sit on the patio upstairs and enjoy the music and to watch Beale street pass you by. Ha ve to say the best thing about this place was a staff member called Euston. Not only did he go out of his way to find us a taxi back to our rented house, when the taxi didnt turn up he arranged a lift for us with his friend who was also a complete star. Employee of the month without a doubt a real credit to his employers...Thank you again customer service above and beyond.
The food here is horrible from this one experience here I can say everything comes from a can and straight to the microwave and the prices are ridiculous to have the nerve to serve someone like that....there is no eye candy behind the bar and the coleslaw is the worst Ive ever tasted in my life... Please believe Im outdone so Im taking the time out to save others from wasting they bleeping time.
Hire POLITE, HOSPITABLE, FRIENDLY waitresses. my group & i were visiting from Dallas & Jazmine ruined the night for us with her disgusting attitude. well never waste our money here again!
Your employee Dre is awesome. Never left us without food or drinks great personality, great guy!
We had a very pleasant evening at Alfred’s. Great music and great waitress Deshaunna. She really gave joy to the evening!
Would give no stars if I could. The service was terrible and so was the food and the attitudes of the staff. Wasted my time and money here but never again. Alfred’s can miss me because I’m never going here again!
Horrible customer service and overall management of the establishment. Have been the Alfred’s twice and experienced poor treatment of the customer’s both times.
