Personally, I really enjoyed it. Everyone was cheerful, exhibits where well displayed and had Audio tours. Indoor and outdoor exhibits and so much to appreciate its unreal. Dont have time to label all the pictures. The radiator was not part of an exhibit, I asked specifically.

So this was next to our hotel. Was kind of expecting it to be more of a Music Thing. I was expecting to see some Ozzy or Metallica memorabilia. But no this is really about metal. And it rocked (no pun intended). Was really cool. The people there were super nice. It was really cool to see the forge. They might think about getting a metal band to play as they are working in the forge ... super cool really worth going to .

Awesome museum dedicated to metal working and forging as art. Three buildings of displays as well as grounds with outside exhibits. Beautiful view of the river as well. Inexpensive for such a great place. Easy street parking.

It was a great experience with different things to appeal to a wide audience. They had presentations on forging and casting. Nice garden with beautiful view of the river lots of places to sit and enjoy the art. Also 2 buildings full of indoor exhibits.

What a treasure! Its located just above the Mississippi river in the French Fort District. Its adjacent to the former Marine Residence that is being renovated into upscale rental units. There are three buildings that are open. Two are former homes that contain a wide array of traveling exhibits as well as permanent collections. There is also a foundry where apprentice metal workers serving internships demonstrate the art as they create commissioned pieces. The price of admission is very reasonable - but the Groupon we got made it even more so. There are also a number of sculptures on the grounds. Be sure to look closely at the entrance gates as they are a beautiful work of art.

It would have been a Great Museum but there was absolutely no one working in the foundry and metal works shops. For me that was unexcptable for this type of educational institution and the fact that they advertise it. The exhibits were okay, but not worth the price of entry of very small galleries. The 10 Year anniversary gates where worth seeing, but there is no need to pay for admission to see them on the street.

We traveled from Phoenix to DC on a three week road trip this summer, and this museum was one of the most memorable. It has such a wonderful mix of work from historic metalwork to current art. Plus, the foundry. The grounds are amazing, on the banks of the Mississippi. There are several buildings and they all have their own flavor. This is a very worthwhile museum.

Two small collections in two historic houses. Sculpture garden to walk thru and working forge/smith. Free street parking! Would have been five stars had we been able to catch them working in the smithy/forge.

Visiting the metal museum was a must for me as I passed through Memphis. I especially lucked out because they were holding an exhibit that included one of my favorite metal artists, Jessica Calderwood. Works by many more amazing artists were on display too. I hope I can come back again for more.

Im not a fan of not-functional art. There were a few pieces in the art museum that were pretty, but the history building was more intriguing with the all metalboxes with locking lids and old gates and rails. I was a bit disappointed in the smithy and foundry as there were no demos going on.

I was completely blown away. I have friends that are metal smiths so I’m no stranger to art made of metal. We spent 20 minutes looking at the gate. Once you go in it’s amazing. We were on our way out of town so had limited time but it will DEFINITELY be a revisit if I’m even close to Memphis

This is a great place to view and understand the artistic side of metal work. The museum offers galleries to view and in some cases purchase metal work from artists. There are classes to teach you techniques on metal working at reasonable prices.

Its pretty cool. We carried the Grandchildren and they liked it real good. I liked looking at all the stuff and how it could be made at my forge or foundry if I decide to build one. Very kind and hospitable folks in the staff.

If you appreciate the at of metal work this is a must see destination! The quality of artistic talent that has passed through the gates and or resides on campus is in the upper 20 percent and they have all left their mark on the grounds. Bring a picnic lunch and visit the courtship for unique gifts that anyone will recognize as special! 4 troops for us so far!

My cousin had his wedding reception here in the summer. What a beautiful location for a gathering. The reception was outside and fortunately, the tent was not needed as it was a beautiful July evening. As day went to night, the sound of the Mississippi gurgled along. Didnt get a chance to see the inside of the museum, but I did enjoy the sculpture garden outside.

We spent the entire day here. The entrance gates themselves are amazing with the ornaments from blacksmiths around the world. Large kinetic sculptures in the yard with more forged fencing and exhibits. In the house/museum there are permanent and traveling exhibits. Then there is the blacksmith shop. Large in size there were 2 apprentices working on large projects. Coal forges, massive anvils, all the stuff you would expect. We talked with them for a long time about what they did and learned.
