I found this course to be great. Many very relevant topics covered, including basic safety, additional safety considerations, discussion of situations and what are the considerations, such as intruder enters the home, etc.Also gained experience in unloading/loading pistols, and basic Massachusetts laws regarding guns and their transportation.I highly recommend this course.

The location was easy to find and has street parking. Paul was professional, very experienced, and knowledgeable. He was patient with everyone and took the time to answer questions. The class did take 5+ hours, but you need it if you are there to learn. I have attened other courses for less time and they were not as thorough. Id definitely recommend this class and instructor.

My two hour plus session on weapons cleaning could not have been better and provided me with all the skills and techniques to take much better care of my firearms. Great class. I learned a lot and was able to ask a lot of questions as were the other attendees. You leave class understanding how big of a responsibility being a gun owner is and its not to be taken lightly. Many laws I was not aware of, handling different types of guns, a lot of new info.

Thorough, serious class that taught a lot of useful material, like avoiding steel-case ammo or requesting firearms be shown unloaded before accepting them from someone.Paul covered a lot of material relevant only to the Massachusetts license and the class ran to 5 full hours, including each student loading/unloading 5 different types of handguns.There are probably many licensed classes that go more quickly and give out the certificate one needs for a license. This one also gives useful information that one will need and use after getting a license.Well worth it!

Paul has a straightforward no nonsense and highly informative firearms safety course. His expertise is obvious; his attitude respectful, fun and fatherly. Classes are comfortable in size and atmosphere. Highly recommended for those here on the East Coast that are looking for someone who not only teaches, but also has a passion for firearms and their safety as a competitor himself. My husband, son and I took Pauls Firearm Safety course. It lasted 4 1/2 hours! Great class! Paul taught to the needs of the class as well as covering the mandatory information needed to obtain a LTC. Paul is an excellent teacher, funny, entertaining and engaging, but mostly patient. When the time came for each student, one at a time to unload and load 2 revolvers, 2 semi-automatics and a .22 his patience never waned. And trust me, most of us had never handled a gun before. Very impressed that he never rushed, took his time so every student was comfortable with this exercise. Though the class is lengthy, that should NOT deter you. He is true to his word...he does not cram all the information into 2 hours, he does not take short cuts. He also stayed an extra 30 minutes to answer any questions the students may have. I enjoyed it so much I made an appointment with him on a one on one to now learn how to shoot with accuracy. LOVED THE CLASS!!!!

The instructor Paul Ferrazzani was dope as hell, super cool and very informative. I learned a lot and had fun. He through in a couple of jokes here and there which made the 4 hour class fly by. I got my certificate and have an appointment with Boston Police in January. Definitely recommend this class. 5 stars.

I highly recommend FSA. I attended the mandatory safety class and found it to be thorough and informative. The classroom was small so students could hear the instructor and able to ask questions throughout. Ive attended other similar courses and found this one to be the best.

10/10 recommend coming here for your safety course, and all other courses offered. The lead instructor, Paul, is an gun safety expert, and teaches you all the basics within four hours. It’s an extremely safe and friendly eviroment. In addition, I’ve found that this course is cheaper than a majority of other firearm schools. Bottom line, an awesome instructor, learn the basics (with real firearms), and a great price.

If you want to learn reloading, take this class. I went into the class knowing very little, but wanted to know the specifics and intricacies. I learned quite a bit about what I didnt know I didnt know.Paul is a great instructor, extremely knowledgeable and informative. He showed me the solutions for when the process does not go exactly as planned. That is where you really learn. He also showed me what to look for, what to check and how to Quality Control my reloads.

I took the Firearm Safety Course with Paul -- a 5 hour session on Tuesday evening. The class ran until ~11 pm and were given a TON of information. The instructor was charismatic and amicable -- it was a much more pleasant 5 hours than I had expected. Even better, Paul was dedicated to continuing to help students in the future.5/5 would recommend again. Im very proud to have this group educating our community about gun handling and safety.

Paul, was very Knowledgeable about guns, and was a great teacher. I think time flew by and it was not boring. Definitely made me more comfortable around guns by letting us handle some of his own. We tried many different handguns handling as well as cleaning them, loading, techniques, and how to hold etc...

Having had some prior experience shooting rifles and air pistols, but not having done so for many years, I was looking for an instructor who would cover the basics of firearm safety and handling while keeping it interesting for someone who has done it before. Notwithstanding this, I was going to attend with someone who had never previously handled a firearm, so I also needed an instructor who could really explain the basics to a novice as well. I chose Paul Ferrazzanis Firearm Safety Academy due mostly to the Google reviews. Although I was a bit hesitant at first because of the lack of a shooting component to the class, looking back, I dont think the shooting component is a necessary first step. It is better first to learn proper safety and handling before actually handling a weapon. As it turns out, the reviews were spot on. Firearm Safety Academy fit the bill perfectly for both myself and my classmate. Paul covered the basics of proper safety and handling in an interactive, interesting, and informative session. He also covered Massachusetts specific laws, which can be esoteric at best, with the knowledge and experience of a master instructor. Paul has even taken the time to converse with me by email about additional questions after the class, a quality which is rare except among those who truly care for the sport and new initiates. Now, after taking Pauls class, I feel ready to properly master the art of shooting. Highly recommended.

Great class. Very informative. Paul is a very patient and experienced instructor. We were late for more than 10 minutes for the class due to heavy traffic and he was cool with it. We were all first-timers with firearms and asked many newbie questions. He explained everything thoroughly and made sure we understood the importance of safety in handling weapons. Great firearm academy.

This class is a great way to gain more knowledge about firearms in general and firearm safety. I left the class much more educated and confident about the subject. Paul is a terrific, experienced, very knowledgeable teacher — and also really takes the time to explain something (often with illustrative real-life anecdotes) if someone doesnt quite understand. Ill definitely be back for more classes.

I recommend The Firearm Safety Academy. I learned a lot in the four hour class taught by Paul. He is versed in the gun safety laws and regulations. I came out of the class learning about the Three ALWAYS 1st: Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. 2ndly: Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot and 3rdly Always keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. Paul is an awesome instructor.

Awesome class. It ran until about 11PM. Paul is very knowledgeable and takes firearm safety very seriously. I truly learned a lot and feel much more comfortable about home firearm safety. I will definitely go back for another class, especially after I purchase my first firearm.

I took the Firearm Safety Class recently and it was a fantastic experience. Like some other reviewers have mentioned, Paul has a great personality and he does an excellent job keeping you focused on the course content. I had no idea there were so many reglations, laws, and restrictions with regards to firearms and Paul makes understanding everything much easier. If you are thinking about obtaining your permit I would highly recommend this class. Paul presents the content in an easy to understand way and you will find the information both helpful and fascinating. I also appreciated how he took the time to answer any and all questions, especially ones from those of us new to gun ownership.

Excellent class! I started the class really not knowing very much at all about firearm safety. By the end of the night, I not only learned an incredible amount of information, but I also felt way more confident about being a future, responsible firearm owner.

Although it is a 4-5 hour course, it did not feel like a long class. Paul is a very experienced teacher. Highly recommended!

Our class actually ran longer than originally scheduled because we all had additional questions (many of which pertained to subjects covered in his additional seminars, yet he still answered our questions and provided us with considerable guidance). At the end of a long work day, the presentation and hands-on instruction was so engrossing that I could not believe how fast the time passed. Highly recommended.

HANDGUNS 101 Review: I took Paul Ferrazzanis Firearms Safety course in Jan 2012 and found Paul to be extremely knowledgeable, straightforward, and a good communicator. I just (Oct 2012) took his follow-up course, Handguns 101, which answered all my questions about what to do next. There is a tremendous array of options out there in self-protection, target-practice, and competition, and it was great to have the benefit of Pauls vast experience in the handgun world to bring me out of the ranks of almost a newbie to be an educated consumer. I would highly recommend Handguns 101 to anyone thinking about what guns to buy. It will save you lots of money in mistaken purchases compared to the moderate cost of the course.

1) First Plethora of Gun knowledge and MA Gun Law which is important living in the state of MA 2) The reason I took the class with FSA is because he responded on my initial request promptly and on time. 3) Promoted Info how to get a Multi-state LTC in case you travel and still want to carry4) Pleasant teacher with patience without getting distracted or derailed from main subject. 5) You will finished class with a lot more knowledge about Gun Safety and Gun Law in MA. I took this class would highly recommend this to anyone who is either pursuing their LTC or just wants to learn more about firearm safety in general. Pauls attention to detail and hands on approach to learning were top notch and I learned a ton of things - not just about firearm safety but about the legal issues & situations that can present themselves to gun owners. Paul also demonstrated copious amounts of patience with the class during the hands on portion - that patience was also on hand to gracefully respond to some superfluous comments and observations throughout the night. Good instructor I definitely learned a lot. Answered all questions and kept the answers real as opposed to sugar coating them. The classroom its self is sort of cramped being in there for 5-6 hours really was uncomfortable after the 4th hour. Definitely bring a light snack. Overall no complaints besides the actual facility.

This course is an excellent investment for the novice and experienced. It covers all aspects of obtaining your FID or LTC. I took Paul`s class last night at the academy`s headquarters in Medford having little to no real firearm experience. The class itself was a great experience that I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to grow their knowledge of basic firearm safety. Paul is literally a walking library of firearms safety and 2nd amendment rights/interpretations. Its amazing how complex and vague some of the wording is in the Constitution and subsequent mass state law. The firearms policies vary from state to state pretty widely and Paul is a great resource for trying to decipher the wording and meaning of local firearms law.With any luck I will be able to obtain a Class A LTC in the city of Boston. Paul also offered to help each of us individually with the pursuit of our licenses as it is tricky to apply in certain cities and towns. Check out the class if you are interested in basic firearms safety or if you are interested in local firearms policy in your state. Lastly, you will get the chance to load/unload some pretty nice pistols (with dummy cartridges) which was a challenging and informative experience.
