Interesting cabin and museum. Friendly and helpful staff. I dont know if I would drive a long way to visit, but if you are nearby it is worth the atop.

Best kept secret in the area. Got there about 30 minutes before they closed -- how long could it take anyway? The gentleman docent was so knowledgeable and friendly, he gave us a tour until almost 5:30! Great. Worth the drive.

Surprisingly packed full of history. Lots of worthwhile time had a very tiny place. Would be interesting to know how much of the caretakers’ stories are fact and which are tall tales.

Having gone to Sam Houston State University I was interested in Sam Houstons early life. Very cool place

Listed as open, got there and there was no one in the office/gift shop. It was a very small cabin with not much in it, so having someone to explain the importance would have been important

I really wanted to like this place with 5 stars with all the history enrichment they have of the little known Sam Houston.My daughter went on a field trip and I was a chaperone with an elementary school and all is well except for the staff. Im not sure if they were truly reenacting history but they were very Stern and rude with the children. To a point where I was uncomfortable and multiple times.All the activities and history and non Hands-On approach for all decent and recommended to most people that would have fun most of the time. Just try to go by yourself if you do decide to take any children as mass groups they are not very fond of even though multiple schools go year-round Im pretty sure.

The staff there is amazing, the school house is amazing and it gives a Sam houston a great rep. I knows this because I know a lot about Sam (raven) Houston.

A short video documentary gives loads of valuable info. The old schoolhouse makes you think way back.

This time whem we visited it was for an event for a friend to see her son recieve his eagle award. And it was a nice little venue, but we have been to other events for the museum when they hosted history days and this is always a fun time and educational. The kids always enjoy it. We also have enjoyed the tour of the school house. The guides are knowledgeable and you can tell they really love the history.

Do not believe stated hours. We arrived at 4pm on Saturday before 5pm stated closingCalled number at closed gate . No answer. Very bad as we had come a long way.

Was very disappointed. It was closed the day we went and the gate was closed.
