Captain Brent, Boat Number 5, was an absolute pleasure to have as our guide. The boat was well equipped (snacks, drinks, and bathroom) and in excellent mechanical condition. We saw numerous gators, turtles, blue herring, eggret, and swamp wildlife. Great photo ops with small gator as well. Check-out the gift shop on your way out, found some great souvenirs for the kids (alligator tooth talisman was a hit). Good value, great staff.

We enjoyed this tour very much. Our guide took us out for wonderful time. He was funny and well informed. He knew where to find alligators and showed us six or seven of them in the wild. He also identified birds and trees for us and maneuvered his boat very skillfully through the bayou. He also provided dried specimens and a live baby alligator for us to experience hands on.

Highly recommend. A short drive from downtown New Orleans. Perfect way to get off your feet for a couple hours after walking the French Quarter a ton.Our tour guide Jason was awesome and made the whole experience fantastic. We saw tons of turtles, a few different egrets (one caught and ate a fish right in front of us), and maybe 10 alligators including a few babies. We even got to hold a young gator that they brought along.Definitely do this if you want to get out of town for a bit.

Beautiful scenic tours with fun and knowledgeable guides! Love the alligator jerky and fun facts about movies filmed on location. We spotted a few gators on our tour - the biggest being around 5 ft (I think). And we got to hold a tiny baby gator around 8-10 inches long altogether. Capt. Jamie is a hoot and a half Dont forget to stop by the park office for your souvenirs! Thats also where the restrooms are located, although you can use the one on the pontoon at your own risk

Nice swamp tour. I have done a swamp tour before in Florida, however this place is way more beautiful and serene. You can also see lots of turtles along with alligators. The tour guide was real fun in his narration too. During the tour they pass on a baby alligator to touch or hold and take photos. Before the tour started we encountered couple of cats, they were real friendly and cuddly. I guess they belong to the staff there. Overall the tour was real fun and relaxing at the same time. If you are a nature person like me, you would definitely love this place.

We spent three days in New Orleans and the Swamp Tour was one of our absolute favorite things that we did! We saw many alligators, including the largest in the area, as well as tons of turtles, a few birds, and a snake. We also got to hold a small alligator (they dont feel like you think they would!). Our boat captain was Jamie and he was awesome, making it really informative and fun at the same time. The tour lasted about an hour and a half. This was so cool and so worth it! Our tour guide, Jason, was amazing and had been doing these tours for twenty some years. He had been giving tours long enough to have been an alligator trainer/feeder/handler, which they dont do anymore. He was extremely knowledgeable on alligators, where to find them and their behavior patterns. We went on the 10am tour and saw lots of alligators swimming and lounging before it got too hot in the day. There were also turtles and birds and an old movie set. Be sure to go!

This was by far the best experience we had in New Orleans! Only a little bit of a drive and that was pleasant and calming. We arrived extremely early and were welcomed and told we could explore the property. We found a picnic area and had a seat after checking out the few animals they had there. Its also worth noting that there were alligators present even as we first got there. They were hanging out in the water and eventually climbed up on the bank. Our captain and guide was Captain Jason. He had a great sense of humor, was obviously a skilled expert in his field, and was a knowledgeable native to the area. We saw several different types of wildlife from our comfortable boat, including a bald eagle and its nest (from a distance of course). I was very pleased with this trip and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys nature in its true form with no interference. There were even snacks available on the boat. Thank you Jean Lafitte Swamp Tours for helping us have an awesome day!

Captain Lou cursed numerous times in front of my young children, otherwise I would give this place 5 stars. He was very informative, and knowledgeable. We had a great time seeing the bayou. Weve previously never been to Louisiana, so maybe its normal to curse often. But in Oklahoma, people try not to curse in front of children. I was embarrassed on the way home when my children asked why those words were used. If that one thing was different I would recommend this to all my friends.

We recently did a swamp tour at Jean Lafitte swamp tours. It was a pretty cool experience. The tour takes place on an aluminum party barge boat that holds a large number of people. When everyone was loading it felt cramped but as we started the tour it was comfortable and didnt feel crowded at all. We some a good bit of wild life- gators, bald eagles, other birds, and turtles. Our captain was knowledgeable and friendly. He had a small gator on board that he took out and there were opportunities for people to hold the small gator and to take pics. The kids loved that. All in all it was a great experience. My only complaint would be that it wasnt really a swamp tour, more of a canal/bayou tour- but I wouldnt let that deter you.

Ti
Review №77

This is NOT a swamp tour. Its a Bayou & Canal tour. If this is your first such experience it may be worthwhile as youll likely see some interesting sights & critters. Guide provided some insights as to surroundings but not nearly as much as some other tours weve been on. And the baby alligator? Yikes, definitely NOT something I would rate as a plus.We were on the first tour of the day with a visiting friend who had never been on this kind of tour. By the time we were returning (backtracking over the same canal we went out on) there were THREE other tour boats all congregated in one area. A bit crowded to say the least.
