Its a beautiful home and a beautiful view. Done many times. But new parking lot was put in. Getting to crowded for my liking. Not handicap accessible.

This place was amazing! I believe this is a must see if you have time, you could even hike this on your lunch break.

Banging mountain

Such an easy hike for an incredible view of Lake Superior and the landscape around us! This spot is easily accessible and while there are a good amount of stairs, its not a long hike to get all the way to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. Even the hike in was beautiful, and then the 360 views from the top are epic. I cant wait to come back and explore even more.

Great hike! I hike most weekends and this one was moderate-difficult. I thought I was on the difficult trail on accident but it turns out that was just the trail. There are over 300 stairs to get up to the peak and the workout is worth the views! It was a blessing to be able to experience the fall colors.

Beautiful and worth the walk

Wow! The payoff on this short hike was amazing. The views at the top were spectacular. At the beginning you have the choice of making the easy or difficult hike up. I chose the difficult, which wasnt bad at all. Its provided some cool rock formations on the way up.At the top of the mountain there is a memorial to a an Assistant Scoutmaster Bartlett King.You can also explore further off the back of the mountain once you get to the top. There is a trail that the back deck opens up to. Was nice to get away from the busy main summit.

Great little morning hike for the sunrise. Fairly easy for the active crowd. Excellent 365 degree views. Total time spent here was less than an hour

This was an interesting place to hike to, from the top you could see the Marquette shoreline, Presque Isle Island, the lighthouse & more. I’ll add photos when I get them off the camera. Now if you brave at heart take the hard route it shorter but a little more rocky and less stairs to climb. For a 75 year old the easy route was not that easy and a lot longer with 22 varying heights of stairs from 4 to 16 steps or more.

Beautiful scenery and loved the fall colors just starting to pop! Challenging but fun hike to the top or you can take the easy path but be ready for lots of stairs.

Best views in the Marquette region. Hands down. Dog friendly too. Short and sweet. No need for a back pack.

Came straight here first day in Marquette to watch the sun set. Definitely set the tone for the rest of our trip. As a down state flatlander the shear size of the Boulders and rock formations kept blowing me away (I know I need to get out more.)

Definitely a climb, nice trail, lots of stairs, take your time and enjoy the view when you get to the top.

We took the difficult route to the top and back down, it wasnt bad at all. Once at the top the view is amazing, I could go every day for the rest of my life and never tire of it!

Beautiful place to climb, I love that there are two separate trails so you can choose the difficulty.The easy trail was pretty easy to hike in the dark, and the top is an incredible place to watch the sunrise. One of my favorite experiences from our vacation to the UP.

Great hike, doesnt take long to reach the peak, and the view is spectacular. Theres an easy trail and a difficult one (both leading to the same spot.) I took the difficult one. I didnt think it was too hard, but it definitely got my heart rate up.

BOTTOM LINE : BEAUTIFUL. A great vertical hike thats not overly strenuous. My 4 year old daughter and my 75 year old dad both made the trip to the summit!PRO : BEAUTIFUL trail up a nice little mountain over Lake Superior. Clean trails, stairs where needed, and an AMAZING view make this a MUST for anyone who likes to hike. My little kiddos, their grandpa, and myself made the hike with no problems. Its steep but there are flat stretches to catch your breath.CON : Really none to speak of.

The walk to the peak is beautiful and not too challenging. The view from the peak is worth the walk for sure, amazing. A number of different viewing sites to make sure you get the full view.

Beautiful place to hike. There is an easy and a more difficult path. The easier path is longer. They have built stairs to help hikers out. There top has two platforms that overlook Marquette county. It is beautiful.

What a view at SUNRISE!! Absolutely breathtaking. The colors are so vibrant right now my eyes were in love! Parking lot was completely empty and I was the only one on my way up and around until coming back down. A must if youre in the area!(:

My favorite place in Marquette

This hike was much better than what I expected it to be. We visited in summer 2019 and my friend had been to Sugarloaf many times. The view was beautiful. The hike didnt take too long for us but for someone who is a bit out of shape it might have taken longer - much of it is pretty step even when there are stairs. Once you get to the top there are various platforms to look out from. Not a bad way to get to see a different view of Marquette!

Gorgeous views! The hike wasnt bad, we took the difficult way up and the easy way down. We had 5 young kiddos with us and even they were fine climbing up. Well worth it to get to the top!

Worth the hike, great place!

Great hike and amazing view. Be careful going down the steps at the very top section. After the last step, my foot wedged between 2 rocks. I fell and my ankle popped. My son and cousin had to carry me almost the entire way down the mountain. No fun spending part of my vacation in the ER.

More of a walk than a hike, but the stairs do get the heart rate up and the views at the end are totally worth it.

A staple in Marquette. Parking is an issue during peak times and many people park on the shoulder. Be careful traffic is moving through this area pretty quickly and the road is winding with limited visibility. Many come for the sunset but the sunrise is just as amazing. If you really want a good workout you can climb to the top for the sunrise then run to hidden Beach and back. Terrain is moderate to advanced.

Breathtaking views and an excellent family experience.

Relatively easy hike, there is an easy or difficult option. The trail had lots of stairs but it’s a fairly short hike for a good view. Try to go earlier in the day to avoid busy hours. The stairs don’t offer much room to pass people going up or coming down.

What a great place to go for a hike through the woods and up a mountain. You can choose the trail, easy or difficult. Warning, there are a lot of stairs to climb from the halfway point to the top...but the views from the top are priceless!

If youre out of shape (like me), this mountain will kick your butt even on the easy trail. If youre fit and dont have to stop every 30 feet to catch your breath, this mountain climb may be a breeze! I recommend taking the easy trail up (though there are a TON of stairs to climb and it takes about 20 minutes longer, it is the safer option). Taking the difficult trail down was much quicker, though you have to really watch where you step. Its easy to find from the road and there is a decent sized parking lot. The view from the top is unforgettable. There are 3 decks you can view from, or you can go off the trail and explore the mountaintop for yourself. Its a freeing and unforgettable experience.

Amazing view of the Fall colors Saturday October 12, 2019! There are two trails to take up the mountain. Easy, and difficult. So, for all who think easy is a choice, make sure you can climb over 153 steps to the top. Take your time, there is plenty to see in the way up. Beautiful rock, colorful trees. When you teach the top, its breathtaking this time of yr! Family friendly, plenty of dogs were in the trail. We decided to take the difficult trail down. No stairs, and plenty of uneven terrain. From tree roots to rocks, but I found that trail way easier than climbing all the stairs, lol Will def bring the family back again!

Its the most basic tourist hike. I believe taking the harder route is easier than the easy route on the trail because there isnt as many steps

A definite must see, when in Marquette. The parking is limited, so its best to arrive in the morning. Its about a 30 minute hike to the top of the mountain, with a lot of stairs. The view is spectacular from 3 viewing decks as well as other rustic viewing spots. The trails were quiet, serene and wonderful.

Lots of steps to the top, but totally worth it! The difficult trail is full of rocks and roots. Make sure you wear hiking boots and take a walking stick it you have ankles prone to rolling.

Awesome view of all of Marquette and the surrounding areas. The climb is fairly easy - I suggest taking the hard route on left on the crossroad if you have bad knees, the stairs can be a little difficult.

The short hike to the top is well worth every step, it is only about .5 miles each way. Once you reach the top and viewing deck, you will be amazed at the vistas. I was so surprised at the beauty and height, I never knew there were mountains in Michigan!This is a “MUST DO” for anyone visiting the Marquette area, if you miss this gem you will forever regret it...I loved the hike, the view, and also the wonderful people I met at the summit and all along the way. Such a wonderful place, I cannot brag enough about this place, it is truly a hidden gem, just like the city of Marquette.No visit to Marquette is complete until you summit, Sugarloaf Mountain!-Nicholas K. Stunning view. sharp elevation change. for serious hikers its nothing. but if its hot and humid when you make the climb, it can be strenous if you are not fit.

There is a lot of walking, but theres a choice, the easy route or difficult route, which each are clearly marked at the beginning. FYI the difficult route is a uphill.

I hiked this in -20° temperatures and it was still worth it. Not anyone else in sight. Mind you, the Difficult route is what you want to take if theres a lot of snow. The steps were covered in snow and made it much harder to climb (the easy route has more steps). Bonus: when you reach the top, slide down the steps on your bum and its fast, painless, and fun, if theres good snow. Happy hiking!

Fun for people of all activity levels! If you come to Marquette make sure to SEE the city from the top. The climb is very difficult during the winter once the snow packs down on the stairs.

For the relative short distance this is an incredible view. There is an easy and hard trail to accommodate most.

Beautiful trails up and down the mountain -- one less difficult than the other -- with some sets of stairs to help the walkers, hikers, and runners. The view of Lake Superior and Hogsback Mountain from the peak are beautiful. Go in October when the colors are at their peak.

Was a great hike even for a beginner. Amazing views. Would definitely do it again. Dont be afraid of the difficult trail. It just has a lot of roots and some steep places....my 4 yr old really enjoyed it, and had no problems.

Sugarloaf is definitely a place to go up at least once, it is however very tourist-y and many of the locals go to different spots that are less known. Has some of the best views of Marquette and the surrounding water. Definitely give it a try and witness some spectacular views!
