It was a blast! We got the VIP guided tour and greatly enjoyed ourselves
Nice that someone made the effort to pay tribute to the Sultana disaster, since it is largely overlooked, especially considering the magnitude of the event in terms of loss of life. Michael, our host, was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed it.
Interesting piece of history
The lady running the place was very knowledgeable.
Nice little museum. Very informative.
My ancestor was aboard the Sultana when it exploded (his body was never recovered). The museum does an outstanding job of preserving the history of the worst maritime disaster in American history. Through informative and well planned out displays, you gain an immediate understanding of how the disaster came about. Also included are personal items from several of the survivors constructed from remains of the steamer. It is a significant event in Arkansas history that is overlooked. This museum, with its very knowledgeable staff, is absolutely worth visiting.
Wow! So much fun and just a pleasure to see southern historical society at work.
Fascinating untold story of a real tragedy. Not a tourist trap - real history and really interesting.
Very interesting. I never even knew about it until I was searching for things to do in the area. Its very tragic but worth learning about. Its not a large museum but its very interesting. I think they just take donations but I brought up donating at the end of the tour. The staff member was very friendly and knowledgeable.
It was a cool sunny day. Had just finished lunch when my wife, her sister and I pulled up to the museum. The guide/attendant was sitting outside ready for visitors. He welcomed us and began giving an orientation. We would be the only ones there for the forty five minute stay. The Sultana disaster was a heartbreaking tragedy that befell over two thousand Union soldiers returning home from two prisoner of war camps. We watched a short movie. After that we continued sitting there, having a nice conversation with our questions answered. There are pictures, artifacts, names of victims, survivors, illustrations on display and books for sale. I recommend the experience as time well spent.
Part of the many historical civil war history and close to Memphis, TN
The museum employee provided us with a guided tour. We watched a 7 minute video. The museum is very small. Admission was $5.00. The story of the Sultana sinking is an American tragedy that is not well known. The museum is a good starting point for learning about the disaster. Depending on how much you read, the tour takes 45 minutes or less.
Needs more space and have walk through instead just stuff in small room
A very charming elderly woman gave me a personalized guided tour of the place. Museum is small, but very interesting.Id say its worth the detour from the interstate.
Small informative museum. Lots of small artifacts.
It was very informative, most interested and the lady that was running it really knew what she was talking about
The little museum provides a wealth of knowledge. We had a great experience!
Small in size but quite Informational Museum. The old man in the Reception is very polite and kind.
I really liked it
Much more impressive than it appears from the outside. History wed never heard before.
