Very nice state park. It wasn’t very big. We stopped on our way back up from key west. Little cheaper to get into than Bahia Honda. Nice shore line, saw several hermit crabs running around.
One of Florida’s best state parks, but it comes at a cost, almost never has availability. This park is perfect, not too large with only 36 sites, the sites are buried in with plenty of privacy. Although the sites don’t have waterfront, you can walk to the water within 2 minutes. Kayaking in the surrounding waters of the park is one of the best, don’t forget to go under the entrance bridge. Wish I could stay there today.
This location has potential. There appears to be some erosion and possibly storm damage. Most of the entrance to the beach/picnic area are taped off, alerting a dangerous area. The water was brown and didnt smell great. Restrooms were reasonably clean. It was $6 for the two of us to enter (in car). Conditions will likely improve. I am open to trying again in the future.
Great camp site with super clean bathrooms and showers surprisingly. Took my kids including a toddler and we were able to spend the day exploring the shallow waters for crabs and other sea life. Nearby to other marthon restaurants and grocery shops. Would return. Enjoyable.
Beautiful park. Thank you Mrs Curry! Short carry to the kayak launch. Fresh water shower and restrooms. Not much fish in the hammock today, but plenty on the flats oceanside.
One of the newest campsites in the middle keys just South of Islamorada. Very nice experience although as with everything, there will always be that 1 person that doesnt treat you as well as others. But pay no attention to that since it was only a 2 minute ordeal at the gate. They have a beautiful location to kayak with San flats nearby and a big (for the keys) beach that is nice and clean with picnic tables and sheltered areas.
If you have a kayak to explore, I can see where it would be a nice place. If you dont, its a waste of money. Tiny park with a beach area. Disappointed! I have better free parks at home.
I felt so lucky to score a campsite. When I got there I felt lucky to be alive.
Well-marked walk through the woods. Bring your bug spray, and be careful of the rocks and roots on the pathway.
Not as much room or sand as others beaches but watching the kite boards was a lot of fun.
Bad spot for yoga & meditation. Terrible experience with park manager.
Absol beautiful!!! Great beach for the Keys, kind park staff, and scenery to die for.
Curry Hammock is a small quiet campground with about 25 water and electric sites. The sites are pea gravel, which helps to keep from tracking on a lot of sand. Everything here look new, even the electrical boxes, they had 50 and 30 amp connections. We were on site 10 which was on the inside of the loop, but standing up you could see the ocean. There is also a small beach just a short walk from each campsite. Each site has two poles with eye hope for connecting a hammock, and a nice picnic table. The bathhouse is easily the cleanest Ive ever seen in a State Park, and it too looks to be brand new. The only downside to the sites at this park is theres not an abundance of shade, but hey, its Florida.
Visited Bahia Honda and Curry Hammock on consecutive days. This was our clear favorite. It was less crowded, had better restroom facilities, a better beach, and was cheaper to enter and kayak. Kayaking was a great experience! As a side note, yes there is grass on the beach and it varies by tides and currents. Youll usually find it on all state park beaches in the Keys. Its naturally needed as it supports the ecosystem and lessens erosion.
We had a great time here. Mainly because there was a manatee offshore. Nice bathrooms. Pop machine. Covered picnic tables. Tables under palms.
A Picture Perfect Park. Great water that looks so clear and changes from shades of blue and green. If your are a camper, the facility is new and shiny clean, down to the Dyson hand dryers in the bath house! Once youve walked a bit of the short shoreline, there is not much else to do besides sunbathing or kayaking (if you have one) and enjoying dinner at your campsite. There is a nature trail, but its a mile away on the other side of the busy highway. No laundry facilities, so save you beach towels and swimwear to wash elsewhere. If you want to drive to Key West, that will take you about 1 1/2 hours (about 61 miles). Marathon is only about 7 miles away, and you can get groceries and find some restaurants there.
This is the Keys at its most pure form. Nature, shore and sky all make Curr Hammock a lovely place to visit.
Great place for picnic, outside grill, swimming, with your family if you plan to stay for a whole day, we were just passing by and the entrance ticket fee didn’t worth the 10 minutes visit we had. Had a descent restroom, parking area for almost 10 cars
This park is awesome!!! Will be back for sure!!! Clean, great people.
Very nice and peaceful, area for kayaking and swimming. Not crowded and people were practicing social distancing.
Has a nice quiet little beach with clean restrooms.
Beautiful park, with a nice beach. But, to be honest, I liked Bahia Honda better, that park is even more beautiful. Curry Hammock was a little bit boring. But we were lucky to find a great spot, away from the boring picknick shelters.
If you’re not immediately kayaking or Kite boarding there is absolutely nothing to do in this park the beach is MUD. Don’t think you’re going to lay out in the sun on the “beach “ Yeah billions and I mean billions of little bugs that are jumping all over the grass that covers the shore and if you stop for a second you were covered, completely covered by these crazy weird bugs. What they’re calling the “Beach” Is a line of shore that is really murky warm muddy and see grass covered.
This is our favorite state park in the keys. We love the beaches and the ability to kayak. The bike path is awesome you can ride it right into town. Wonderful breezes = minimal bugs. Campsites are 50 amp with H2O nice and roomy.
Decided to camp here in small motor home, and was delighted by the natural beauty and cleanliness of Curry Hammock. Small campground has three “hosts” who provide information and services to campers in return for their stays as campers or in cabins. This park has a pristine beach that has both incredible sunrises and sunsets. Our site is oceanfront, is flat, roomy and private even though the beach vegetation is low. Will have to post photos separately. You have to see it to appreciate it.
Ranger Lance went above and beyond in helping correct a mistake that I had made. He has my sincere gratitude! Thank you again, LanceLances helpfulness is indicative of the attitude of all the park personnel. All the Rangers are nice and helpful along with all the camp hosts. That is a big reason of why we enjoy coming to Curry Hammock so very much.
This is a fantastic, clean and well-run State Park. Excellent mangrove hammock kayak trail and plenty of open water. Sandbars, seagrass, nice pavilions and a campground. Easy to miss. Check it out.
Great park if your looking for a place to hang out for the day
Quiet sandy beach....a lot of grass on the edge of the water but nice once you walk through it.
A great stop on the way back driving from Key West. Refreshing. I took a swim in the ocean. Loved it. Small entrance fee. Nice changing facilities. We thought it was so beautiful. We got our own picnic table at the beach.
Its ok. The water is very shallow and it stinks like raw sewage. Fish dont bite here all we saw were tiny needlefish and some minnows that were too small to catch in our cast nets. Its brown water here too not the blue stuff you see driving down.
Beautiful pristine park, upgrades under way including camping area.
Its not the most luxurious RV campsite but its a great place to stay especially for the price. Has a bath house, nice beach (BRING YOUR WATER SHOES), electricity and water hookups, dump station (not on the lots), playground, picnic area, etc etc etc. 2 host sites if you need assistance, great environment and very eco-friendly
Nice beach and nice park but not too many parking spaces so get there early. Sea grass along the water was left there for the environment but did have a little smell. Typical for the beaches in The Keys we were told.Nice shelters and bathrooms and there is a fee to enter.
Nice, quiet State Park right on the ocean. Only 25 camping/RV site.
Great place to kayak and kite surf!
Very disappointed. Amenities should be updated and exclude swimming. $8 entrance is basically parking. Beach site is covered 99%on seaweed.
Beautiful trails to hike through! 10/10 would go again!
Great beach and water, activities are reasonable price and easy trip from our hotel.
Kudos to park ranger Debbie and park manager Mark. We camped there last weekend and everything was beautiful with impeccable amenities. We had a great time in spite of a crazy gentleman who was camping next to us and became irate because we walked our puppy across the “No pets on beach” post while holding a beer. We amended our ways but park staff was forced to spend hours trying to calm him down. Thank you Debbie & Mark for your patience and professionalism
I havent had the opportunity to go there but now its on my list when I get back to my condo in FLORIDA. Stay safe all.
I went kayaking with my family here and it was absolutely awesome! The views were spectacular and the wildlife was amazing! Between kayaking through the tunnels, seeing iguanas in the trees and stingrays plus other aquatic creatures in the ocean, it was an overall incredible experience that Ill never forget! So needless to say, its definitely worth checking it out!
Hands down one of my favorite places to kitesurf. There are picnic tables with shade, bbqs, convenient parking right in front, clean bathrooms, park for kids, and the beach is awesome! It’s a flat water spot, perfect for kiting when there is good wind. Also a great spot for picnics, family gatherings, or with friends, and they have RV parking as well for those who want to stay with RVs. Dogs are allowed as long as they are kept on a leash at all times; however, they’re not allowed on the beach. And park closes around sunset
Beautiful. We look forward to returning soon to this small, peaceful campground. There is ample space and natural vegetation between sites to afford some privacy. All sites are a short stroll to the beach. Its a bit of the real Keys that I remember from growing up here many years ago. Such a nice haven from the rampant development all around. Quiet and peaceful. We were busy playing tourist at the must-see Turtle Hospital and Dolphin Research Center, so we didnt get in any kayaking. A paddling adventure would have also been excellent. There were many birders here this week apparently trying to spot hawks. So many activities. Alas, such limited time! Were already planning to book our next visit.
Great little stop. The beach is clean for a good swim or walk along the beach. Also has kayaks to use, but bring your own paddles.
Omg love love love this place. Its like a little hidden gem. The beach is the best one in the Keys. Very relaxing and children can play right there by you..
So Ive passed this park thousands of times and never thought twice about going in. Well today while driving south to another beach my R.V blew out a tire and I happened to pull in I was greeted by a friendly staff and explained to them I needed to change a tire they let me park by the exit to do so cool. Well turns out I did not have the proper tire iron. So the situation looked bad we had 2 kids 7 and 4 my brother and his wife my buddy and his pregnant wife and my wife and i. Time to call roadside assistance cool its going to take an hour for them to reach us so we asked if we could just pay and go to the beach and have roadside assistance come in and change our tire they said oh yeah no problem told us wear to park so he could send roadside assistance our way. Now like I said in the beginning I have passed this place a million times and never gave it a second look when we pulled around the back all of us were happy with the beautiful and clean beach. Spent the day we BBQ and enjoyed the water the kids enjoyed the playground. Overall we will be coming back. If chance doesnt bring you hear like it did me I highly recommend checking this place out.
Another cute park with beautiful views
Nice beach to kiteboard from. Hoping to return, and explore further.
Best place for group activities. Whatever we caught, we released back into the water.
Beautiful beach. I would enjoy again. Its a beautiful little place.
Great place for a doggy outing.
Great scenic walk. Nice exercise equipment.Gated dog park within the park.
Really nice place, calm and peaceful!
A lot of people doing kite surfing
Must see... With quick access to the local sandbar if you have a floaty
Nothing better than the campsites near the water. The farthest inland sites have a problem with bugs when the wind is calm. Spend your time in the day-use area, or the beach reserved for campers. Bathrooms are great. Campground is very quite, if that’s what you’re looking for in a vacation. Not far from Marathon for shopping, but seems isolated from the busy world. Be sure to kayak around the island when the tide is higher. If you can get a campsite, this will be one of your favorite vacation spots.
Cute little state park. Great beach!!! There is kayak rentals there or bring your own. Covered picnic tables. Restrooms and outdoor shower. I will be back.
Great little place to go since Long Key, isnt important to the FL. State Park Agency. This is clean, new buildings.
Small little park with about 30 parking spaces amd 4 large spots for RVs... unfortunately while we were there 3 large RVs were there parked with their generators going so most of the parking lot smelled of exhaust. Not really a good beach to swim as the water is very shallow and then turns grassy. Bathroom facilities were nice.
Beautiful State Park helpful staff with camping and Facilities. No convenience store so be sure to take everything you need
The best thing here was the restrooms.. ha! Not much to see or do.
Saw a BIG LIZARD, the beach was clean, and so was the restroom.
Our third time here. We just love it.
Curry Hammock is small but a beautiful park. Beach area is nice. Kayaking and fishing are popular activities here.
Quiet campground with a nice paddle trail and hiking trail.
Staff are friendly .. nice place to stay but they have seaweeds/grass problem when we came and stay there. Load of manatees in the lagoon.
Great place to come if you want to be isolated from large crowds. Beautiful view of Palm trees, clean restrooms and playground for small children to play. Kayaking is available
The park as far as the nature goes is 5 stars. We love the Lagoon and the kayak trail around the island. We also loved paddling out to the sandbar where we snorkeled and just enjoyed the sun. What I did not enjoy was how inconvenient it was to launch our personal kayak its about 200 ft from the parking lot to where you can launch your kayaks into the lagoon. We had our kayaks on a trailer and had to use an RV space to park the truck and trailer which is no big deal but its at the other end of the parking lot.So we parked closer and put the trailer in a parking space beside us which on a busy day would have really stressed me out. I wouldnt want to inconvenience others.Luckily our trailer is very well-balanced and we were able to push it down closer to the launch but we still had to drag it approximately 75 ft to the water not bad going down, but coming back up was tiring at the end of a long day. The reason Im mentioning all of this is because Curry Hammock rents a lot of kayaks, its a great place to kayak, and its advertised as such. That means its great for kayakers and paddle boarders, so why not allow the users of the park to be closer to the water so that they could unload their trailers. Maybe theres an issue with doing that which means that you would have to give access to motor boaters also.Another inconvenience that could be easily taking care of would be to have a foot wash at the shower and actually fix the shower head like $20 worth of work. The shower head actually doesnt spray down but out to the sides all over the steps leading up to the restrooms and there is no footwash at all.The other issue was that the ranger station was poorly prepared to help first timers. There were no Maps available to hand out. We had to get a copy. No big deal but this is just daily paperwork that needs to be taken care of on a consistent basis. I had to ask a lot of questions to get answers and guidance from the park ranger Booth about the park. I finally talked to the right person and she gave me a lot of great information. And when we were out on the ocean side trying to get to The sandbar I was able to call in and get directions since the sand bar was under water at high tide. That was really nice. All in all my three stars are more as more of a result of the US government not taking care of its national/state parks the way it needs to, yeah I know Curry Hammock is a state park but its still the government so calm down. These types of resources and activity places for the public are what make living in the United States a great thing, but we can do better.Reconfigure the kayak/paddle board launch, fix the rinse shower, maybe you can put one closer to the pull out, and make sure good directions to get around the park or available at all times.
Its great, only thing its doesnt have sewerBut we are loving the view and the stay.
Clean, up to date bath facilities, unbelievable location, pristine wildlife and landscape.
Camped a night and loved hearing the water and feeling the ocean breeze through my tent. All sites were close to the bathhouse. Ample space for my tent, car, and even a place to tie my rope to hang up wet clothes and towels. Would camp here again.
Nice place. Well kept & great price.
Lovely destination for kayaking and fishing
Beautiful place. Nice quite camping, picnic area and playground.
Beautiful park!! Highly recommend!!
Very nice park and Campground, great location, like new bathrooms in Campground. A very nice viewing deck for raptors and sea birds. Several kayak canoe trails. Loved it!
Nice place to stop, nice beach for swimming and all around good family location.
All around beautiful place. My family loves it.
Nice small park. You can go on a kayak, fish, or go swim in the water. We went and made steak on the grills they have while the kids played on the playground. I loved it! We will return soon.
Beautiful place... very relaxing and exotic
Beautiful little park. Like most Florida SPs, the sites are a nice size with good privacy between them. The beach and lagoon are wonderful, kayaking has good variety with the lagoon and ocean easily available.
Best state park in the keys that we have visited so far will definitely come again!
Love this little park. Nice little beach and neat wildlife for a day trip.
Nice, clean oceanside park with picnic tables
Small quaint beach.
I love this place is a private little island
Perfect staff, clean showers and restrooms, nice nature but otherwise stinky place with small flyes trying shorten your life...maybe it is seasonable ...
Did the nature trail off highway... 1.4 miles
I was hoping for a trail through the park instead there was a trail a mile away along a highway.
No beaches no where to fish looks like most of the park closed. Save your money. Stay at the pool
Such a cool state park to set up your hammock! Then you can go ahead and say that you set up your hammock in a state park that has the word hammock in it! How neat is that??
