Its hard to believe this course once held the match play tournament. The fairways are patchy, the greens filled with divots. The pathways have large cracks that sneak up on you. Due to Covid there are no water stations and the grill is closed. Come prepared with plenty of water and food. On the bright side the staff is friendly and the rates are semi reasonable. I can say Ive played where the pros played, but I wont be playing there again. There are much better courses here.
Be weary of the quality of treatment from the pro and staff here. Do not bother trying to request the two nines you would like to play nor believe the ones they tell you youll be playing (even if you call on the way to the course to confirm!). Me and three buddies were in the area in February of this year and decided wed chose this course as one for the golf trip. Months ahead when booking, we made the request to play the two nines that the PGA played when they hosted the matchplay events. They confirmed this request at that time. The day we arrived in Arizona (day before the round) I also called to confirm wed be playing those two nines, and again they noted that we would be. On the way to the course the next day, I called again to ensure that nothing had changed, to which they confirmed we were still setup to play those two nines. Upon arriving at the course, we walked into the pro shop to get setup for the round and were treated very coldly. Finally when we were acknowledged, after waiting for 10+ minutes at the till to check-in and pay, we were told that we werent playing the two nines we requested, and instead they slotted out bus of 16-20 guys on those two nines. I have a hard time understanding how they couldnt of known this ahead of time and shared this information with myself, which wouldve then allowed us make other arrangements at an alternative course in the area. Clearly they have no issue lying to you to in order to get you to the course. There are a lot of better courses in the Tucson area at a similar price point. Further, there are some comparable courses in terms of quality but at a much cheaper price point! Its worth noting, the group of us are all sub 5 handicaps and play ~100 rounds a year so we play our fair share of golf.
A fantastic golf course ! Great range and practice area, 3 beautiful 9-hole courses, and a great staff.
Beautiful, challenging course, friendly people and great service.
I just toured the place for the 1st time today it was beautiful exceptional they really have thought of everything
So beautiful. You will never be upset about your triple digit round when you have these views all around you. Especially the sunset views (see pics). There is also a great chance of spotting some wildlife. Ive seen javalinas, bobcats, coyotes, owls, and more. Nothing to worry about though they have no interest in people with bags full of potential weapons on them. Check out the restaurant on site, Caytons! Chef Jason is amazing!
Very disappointed in what I thought was a premier course in the Tucson area. Course not in great shape. Greens hadnt been mowed in several days, very slow. Theyve lost several fairways. Didnt play out of a single bunker because they were closer to concrete than sand. We had an early afternoon tee time, and there was no water on the course anywhere other than a water fountain at the club house. The grill was not open and the bev cart stopped service at 1pm, so unless we had brought our own gallon of Gatorade each, we wouldnt have made it all 18 (we were done after about 14).
I expected more for my money. Should have been in better condition.
Very disappointed. Fairways were in horrible shape, looks like they were watered once a week. I have played on rural golf courses that looked like country club courses compared to Dove Mountain.
Course didnt look the best but the course was in decent shape. Will definitely be back!
Great staff. Course is in good condition.
Great course! Beautiful up here
Had a tee time Saturday at 9:00. Took 5 hours to play 18 holes. For the cost of a round, you would think the course would have a Marshall. Pretty disappointed in the experience.
Great course with absolutely terrible customer service. Hi, were on hole one and it looks like our rental sets are missing a few clubs do you mind bringing them out? Sure, well run them out to you. Not only did they not bring them, they didnt answer the phone the 2 times I called back.
Great course, and outstanding customer service!
The views, club house, food, and staff are amazing. Conditions of the course is perfect.
Great pro shop staff! Beautiful course and setting.
Great course tuff greens
Excellent course. Moderately difficult. Immaculately maintained.
Bring your A game. All three of the 9s are challenging. Jack didnt design this one for us average hackers. Bunkers abound, forced carries dominate and the greens are guaranteed to produce much weeping and gnashing of teeth. Having said that, however, the club is always in pristine condition, and in the summer the fees are a steal. Laugh and cry afterwards over a beer and great burgers at the clubhouse restaurant, Claytons.
A very challenging course for skilled golfers. A must play for Tucson golf. Used to host the professional match play. Ambivalent staff was suprising/disappointing. Great course conditions, of course!
Great golf course with beautiful views of the mountains and desert landscape. The course was very well maintained and the golf staff was friendly and professional. The two 9 hole tracks I played (there are three 9 hole courses) Saguaro and Wild Burro, presented a reasonable challenge off the tee. The green complexes were very challenging with pin placements the day I played requiring approach shots to 25 - 30 feet with the hope of a two-putt. Well worth the drive north from the city to play!
Great track! Very challenging, but fun to play. Beautiful course with great views.
Dinner at Caytons was good, but not excellent, which it should have been considering the prices.
Very beautiful condition and excellent lunch an enjoyable day
Beautiful desert foothills type course. Its where the pros played. Very tough course for the average golfer. You really have to be able to pinpoint your shots to play on this course. Was really too tough for me but the scenery made up for it. Also to experience what the pros play made me appreciate their talent more. Got a great price using the idealgolfer site. Lots of bunkers and narrow fairways. If you dont hit it straight bring some extra balls.
Top notch golf course. Too bad my game did not match. They may wish to consider matching the pin positions with the cart GPS, especially since players are obligated to pay a $5 cart fee.
Great course. Three stars for the FIVE hour round.
Not easy to play but always in great chape
Played this course twice over the past couple weeks. Great service, great course. Also the carts have built in Bluetooth speakers for 18 holes of constant jams.
Top notch golf course and facilities. Great and friendly staff. Left off one star because I believe the greens are unfair here. Severe undulation and fast. It should be one or the other not both.
Perfect day at a perfect course. Great day.
Its in good shape overall. Tee boxes were being. Aerated. Played as a single most of the day. Round was just over 2 hours. And price was reasonable.
Great course and s.
Played Dove Mountain on sunny but windy Monday. Not too many people on the course. The course is really quite scenic and there was a sense of isolation. It was in great shape. Although the greens looked like they were in poor shape, the ball rolled smoothly. There are a lot of bunkers on this course and, with the slopes of some of the holes, shots do have to be placed strategically. This was made even more challenging with the 15 mph winds on this day. As a mid - handicapper, I really had to decide where I was aiming, either to bail out or to get the least damaging place to miss. Shots into the brush are gone, so bring lots of balls. The greens were also very challenging, demanding precision speed and line. I think of myself as a good putter so I did enjoy them. In speaking with one of the staff, he said that speed on the greens on this day was not much slower than what the pros used to have to contend with so I really had an appreciation for their putting abilities. This is a tough course. This is not a course for a beginner. Good test for low handicappers. The rack rate is apparently about $170. Our group was able to get a much better price due to online promotions. I would definitely play this course again.
If this isnt one of the best courses in Arizona let alone the United States, Id be surprised. Visiting from Massachusetts on a golf trip recently I had the pleasure of experiencing Dove Mountain. This course is exceptional, from the driving range, to the layout, scenery, conditions and pure golf course beauty. This is desert golf if youve every imagined it, cut out of the desert mountains. It seemed like each tee box we approached we stopped ourselves to soak in what was incredible hole after incredible hole. Each different, each challenging and each with its own character. This course is not surrounded by any housing developments and not one house is next to a fairway, its placed in natural habitat. Dove Mountain is amazing.
Restaurant had an amazing hamburger with the best gluten free bun Ive ever had! Excellent view from lower patio. Was a relaxing, casual dinner spot before taking a sunset hike back to the main property. Great delivery on the RC standard of service!
Far one of the most amazing and hardest courses I have ever played. The views and the course layout here absolutely phenomenal, also the bar right next to the golf course serve some amazing drinks with some amazing food. The next time I am back in Tucson I will definitely be playing this course again.
Perfect setting. Well appointed facilities. Challenging golf. Dont leave without having a bite at Caytons.
The food was tasty. The wait staff was attentive. Cocktails were perfect. The atmosphere was lovely. Great visit.
Always friendly service. Course was is great shape for November after new seeding.
Horrible staff at the golf club! Matt was disinterested even though we spent close to $500 here. Didn’t seem to care we were here and never even said hello. Tony the starter was the same. First time playing here and horrible golf staff experience. I did speak to the Director of Sales before we left and provided my feedback. He was kind enough to refund us a round and was very apologetic. The Wild Burro and Tortolina were absolutely beautiful and in great shape. The Caytons restaurant food wasoutstanding, but pricey. Service was good.Go for the golf, not the service!
Always a great course Fairways are excellent greens are excellent tee boxes are excellent what else do you want it is one of the best courses I play at in Tucson Arizona and in San Diego California the staff is so friendly they make you feel right at home
Nice resort course Ive played a few times now, but the pro raised the booked price when we got there because they added the Skark experience to the carts GPS screen that we didnt want, so that cost a star.
Dont bother to play this course greens stomped out at a 5. The fairways and rough were not in good shape pro shop gave marginal service golf carts were old and not clean. Beers on the course were $7.25. Play highlands instead better condition less expensive to play and less expensive restaurant and bar. My comments eco all of those who I have asked about this course dont bother playing the course
Stunning views fantastic golf course
Loved the course! Great staff!
Great layout, elevated and fast greens are difficult to hold. Only issue was we were paired as a foursome but we were followed by a single and a twosome, instead of pairing them together. Overall a great experience.
The Golf Club at Dove Mountain rated 4-1/2 stars: This excellent resort, with a luxury Ritz-Carlton hotel onsite, boasts the area’s first new Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course in 25 years. With stunning vistas to enjoy from all parts of the 27-hole layout, the wonderfully crafted holes weave their way through the arid, undeveloped Sonoran desert.
Best kept course I ever played on.
Fun, tough layout with typical Nicklaus bunkers staring at you on every shot and turn. Greens very difficult. On course staff were non existent and needed to help first timers navigate the 3 nines.
Friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful course and the proshop was having a fabulous sale
Saguaro course - pristine. Tortolita course - in transition. Staff - hit or miss. Bartender Nathan is great company. Didnt see the cart girl until hole 17.
Wonderful olf course with amazeing views, beautiful experience!
Good food a good server.
Great golf. Would not recommend it for a beginner. 3 sets of 9 holes with each set playing different. Staff is friendly and attentive.
Everything is great. Looking forward to coming back
The courses were in good shape. They have three 9 hole courses. These courses were originally built for the PGA world golf match play championship. Top 64 players in the world. The mistake made was to hire Jack NickelAss to design them. The PGA Tour Players hated it. 4 or 5 greens had to be redone after the first year because the slopes were so severe they couldnt get the ball to come to rest if they tried to bring the speed of the greens up past 9.5 or 10. Also the design is such that it cant be walked due to the extreme distance between some greens and the next tee. That also means that spectators could not follow players they liked. Given it was match play, the final two days were not well attended. Keep in mind this is Tucson/Marana, many retired people. They cant walk this monster. So thanks to Jack, Tucson/Marana lost millions.I give the place a 5 because, 1) its beautiful. 2) My club plays 2 tees up at about 6,500 yards so its playable for a 9 handicap like me. 3) they work hard on this course 4) it is a sanctuary for the desert wildlife. I am a native here and appreciate that. Friendly, helpful staff. If youre coming to Tucson and want to challenge your game, bring it on. Ok
Fairways were green, greens were punched about a week ago, so they were slow. Club house was nice but could mot eat at restaurant as it is closed on Mondays
Great golf, friendly staff, lovely restaurant and awesome views
Best course Ive ever played. Immaculate condition, and great price too.
Beautiful courses and top notch facilities. High in the Tortolita mountains with many elevation changes these Jack Nicklaus courses are challenging. A must if you are in the area, and for a summer rate on golfnow of $25 you cant pass this up.
By far my favorite course to play in the Tucson area. Amazing/challenging course layout and the greens are amazing.
An amazing setting, top of the line service and they service local wines and beers. Try to plan your meal in time to watch the amazing sunsets.
Probably the hardest courses I ever played. Ive played US open and PGA courses and none of them are nearly as challenging. Jing left and right off the fairway, and its not OB or Lateral. Very demanding tee shots. 5 handicaps wouldnt break 90 here. Green side bunker sand was different, was really heavy. Greens were rolling slow. The course was manicured pretty nice. Better be hitting the ball straight. Several bellmen told me the players didnt like the course when they had the Accenture tournament here. If youre in the area, id play it but its not a course where you wanna play everyday.
Beautiful.
Unique architecture, peaceful and luxurious surroundings. Dont miss the star show with the telescope!
Nice track. Tough and fast
Great course great Fairways this is how golf courses should be... a little challenging for the average golfer
Glad I was recommended this golf course best course in the Tucson area . The course was perfect in January.
Beautiful track. Thousands of Saguaros all around.
Great courses, water, tight fairways, well worth money. Will play here again!
Beautiful course. Greens are VERY challenging.
Its a desert golf course, nothing exciting
Greens were very shaggy and slow. Course was in ok condition, not exceptional as one would expect.
Beautiful views and excellent buffet dinner served.
Beautiful views of the valley! Youll be treated well here!
Challenging golf course. Great burgers!
Best golf course in town.
6.50 for a beer and the carts will lock up if you go too close to the greens or off the designated path.
One of the top courses in greater Tucson area
Course was extremely difficult for women
Great golf course with nice clubhouse
Truly beautiful, a MUST play.
