Aquatics by Nature should be charging at the door!Every time I go here there’s an abundance of Gorgeous fish! Even during the covid.You can tell The owner Sean is very passionate about his store. From his placement of supplies to his displays of live plants And everything in between; he does it all with passion.There is never a moment where I feel like something is being sold TO me; instead everything sells it’s self here.There’s always beautiful, hybrid (something I never knew existed in the fish world) unique fish for sale.His display tanks are very inspirational. This guy is the Fish Guru. Ask him anything and he will help you out. Sean is Very knowledgeable, very passionate about his fish and his store. He and His staff are so friendly. You almost get the vibe as if your visiting in his living room. The fish sell themselves here. There’s no need for a sales pitch.His products are top notch. There’s a huge abundance Of live plants. Plants that I have never seen and are not common. His fish are very healthy, beautiful colors and unique (fresh and salt) his products are excellent. The atmosphere is super laid back. You never feel rushed or as if something is being sold to you. The store sells itself. Even the fellow customers are friendly and you’ll end up striking fish conversation with them!Once you leave you’ll know you’ve made new friends and have purchased quality items. You’ll come back. Again. And again. And again. Trust me.

I’ve been visiting Aquatics by Nature since it opened, and I am always impressed with the selection of corals. The owner Sean is always helpful with any reefing questions and if he doesn’t have the answer (which is rare) he will help you find the best solution to your issue. Love the shop and will continue to be a loyal customer, no need to cross the Causeway for my reefing needs.

All of the tanks both freshwater and saltwater were incredibly clean! Their selection of fish, plants, and coral were all fairly priced and healthy looking. All of the frags I bought acclimated perfectly and have very good colours and feeding responses.

Great store on the North Shore that Sean is created. Has everything you could possibly need and if he doesnt at that time he was more than happy to get it for you. Its close to the house so usually im in there once a week at least sometimes I dont buy anything and Seans good with that sometimes I just go in there to try to learn a little from either Sean or some of the customers that are in there at the time if Sean is busy. I might actually get this setup right. Thanks for all the advice in the reef world

I have been a customer and follower of Sean since he specialized only in herps at his shop on La. 21 in Covington, then to his giant specialized breeding facility on 1077, and now in his new location. I have been mesmerized by his own fascination and desire to learn every aspect of his business. I first was intrigued as I watched him design his first herp storefront on 21. Being a contractor I offered my experience in a certain aspect of the design. Then he explained to me what he had researched and learned concerning snake habitats and he taught me the lesson.The reason I bring all this up is I have NEVER observed a business owner more fascinated in theyre business than Sean. Several times I went in to buy something I thought I wanted and he guided me to something that fit my needs much better.My daughter ended up as a lifetime customer. Shes 27 now and I started as a customer when she was 8 buying her the first in a long line of snakes when I bought her a corn snake. She now has a bedroom full of stands filled with terrariums filled with lizards, boas, and corns.If you want the latest and greatest information and help with your familys aquatic needs, you need to go see Sean. No one, and I mean no one in South Louisiana can touch his experience.He is not in it for the money is his secret. He had a thriving business on 1077 selling online and he missed his interactions with in store customers. Now he spends much more facetime and he inspires people to explore theyre hobby! Now I find I am going to turn my workout room into a saltwater haven after almost finishing my education from him on Coral and saltwater species.Dont cheat yourself going anywhere else to a store. EDIT - Response to owners response:A nerve was struck, as it is difficult to get your train of thought past disrespect towards a group of people that have helped you in the hobby for quite some time, which can also be interpreted as insulting. As I said, despite the Gem not eating, the owners of the other LFS have been in constant touch and supportive the whole way through, and it was more of a conversation piece than a bashing invitation. I did shake your hand which is a common custom, and I did compliment your beautiful handmade countertop. I do not expect a store in this type of business to be fully stocked 24/7 as it is impossible, and what you said in regards to that makes total sense. The review has to do with the soap box. As a customer I am there to shop, and that is it. Your store has everything a hobbyist would need. Your employee on hand was friendly and helpful, and AGAIN, dont want to downplay the clear hard work and dedication that has gone into your establishment. You did mention clearing the air and bringing hobbyists together, but it isnt done through common enemies, and I question your sincerity. I respect your right to an opinion, and appreciate your respect of mine. As for my preference of public bashing - it isnt in my nature. This was a review of my experience, which is why reviews exist, and I hope it makes you think twice next time you have the urge to stir the pot.I have heen in the saltwater hobby for 4 years and sales for 10 years. This is an honest opinion and review of my first and last visit to this location which included a browse of the saltwater section and an hour long lecture from the owner.Not sure if the owner was having a bad day or if this was aquatics by nature (pun intended). Browsing around the selection is minimal. There were some nice designer frags here and there, but nothing too crazy. Dont think there were any salt fish there besides some clowns and anthias, lots of empty tank space. The negative rating is based on the owners aforementioned lecture. As I was being held hostage by the owner waiting for him to ring me up, I learned about every bit of business drama that has happened in this hobby that I was previously unaware of. His business enemies happen to be my friends at another local fish store, and after the owner caught my tone of how I felt about them, he changed his own tone to covering his trash talking tracks. In addition to the trash talk I heard all about his grandiose accomplishments in the reptile hobby and how he is an expert at everything business. I enjoy being a member of the community surrounding the hobby and will not take sides when it comes to the he said/she saids of business. It should be kept private and if there is drama, it is a much better look to keep it between the parties involved. This hobby is about passion, enjoyment, and relaxation - and it was clear that the owners only interest was profit. I could barely get a sentence out through this entire rant and the only thing that swayed his attention was a passing fellow customer looking at an expensive light, which the owner jumped on like a fly discovering a fresh pile, only to give the other customer the shoulder, and return to the podium after he realized he wasnt buying. If I had walked in on a day where the owner wasnt present, I would probably return, but unfortunately these arrogant vibes were. It seemed as though he didnt realize that this hobbys community is larger than his friend circle. The store has potential if you would hop off of the high horse. I like to go shopping in stores, and save the banter for the bars. Your woes are the nature of business, and your energy would be better spent in bringing the community together vs creating tension, which you seemed minimally interested in doing. I dont want to downplay your hard work and accomplishments, but applaud you for them, however that would be easier to do if you were more humble. I am not interested in hearing from you, or you attempting to make this right. I wish you success, but it wont include my business.

Sean at aquatics by nature is top notch. Not only is there great service and a massive saltwater selection but freshwater as well to satisfy any hobbyists needs. The staff is knowledgeable and always willing to take the time to answer questions and offer advice. The store is awesome and you always get a friending greeting from sean everytime you walk. A owner of a business that talks trash to customers about other businesses deserves 1 star. You should be glad you got one I would have left none. Thats the second time I have been in this store and both time the owner talked trash about others. He wont get any more of my money. Maybe he should look in the mirror he might just be the problem.

If only I could get this guy to run a bunch of specialty stores. Id really like to see Exotics by Nature as a storefront. I cant keep it afloat, but if his herps are like his tanks, it would about be worth a cover charge. A source for premium high tech aquarium supplies, and freshwater plants. Saw some endlers livebearers in stock here, as well as some internet popular plants. Keep getting the stuff the big boxes wont. I cant explain the saltwater selection, other than to say wow. Really cool stuff over there, some I hadnt seen before like clams.
