I had a wonderful time. The comedy performance, We Funny For Real was such a delight.
Nice space for a small to medium sized gathering. Enough space for a buffet or plated dinner served per guest. Seating is adequate for dining and dancing if its set appropriately. Parking is scarce so plan to walk if youre not parking up front. There is a parking deck that looks pretty secure and nicely lite for those not parking upfront for loading and unloading of guests and or catering. Overall, a really good space. Oh, and the attendant at the facility is very helpful with setup. Luis did a superb job.
Love this place! Have attended many films and performances that cater to us as a people. I enjoy the audience interaction which has always been warm and welcoming. And a big thank you to the management and staff.
I the Douglass. Great place to escape for some me time. Always have great events and lots of history. Love the senior movies each month. Visit their website for monthly events. You will be amazed.
Sitting in the balcony is a plus and a minus! Plus you are looking down. Minus, if you are sitting at the rails, you cant hardly see because of the rail, and there were rude people talking loud in a whole conversation, people talking on their phones loudly. There needs to be security up top to monitor these inconsiderate people! Other than that, the place was fine!
Nice place for a family gathering. Lots of room for tables/dining, dancing, and decorations. Nice to have parking as well.
I really enjoyed the showing of that Documentary I just want to ask a question where did her Faith played in this documentary?
This structure is still beautiful. I went for the Sunday night jazz event. It was really nice and I enjoyed it. The only issue was the ants.
Been a long time since Ive been to Douglas, but it was a good experience. It used to look a lot bigger when I was smaller.
This is a historic Macon jewel. Every performance is always enhanced because of the quality equipment and attention to detail the venue offers. Of course, the freshly popped popcorn and other concessions are a plus for the kiddos! However, the Douglass offers a cultural variety of events for everyone.
My wife and I enjoyed the time we spent at the Douglas. I can not say enough about the work that they are doing. Thank you Georgia Power for your sponsor ship
Beautiful theatre with lots of history. Love to watch independent films here. Great place!
It so nice and cozy and you are not cramped up in one olace6
Historic Place for African American in Music!️
Wonderful venue for hosting events. Located in historical downtown Macon. Has adequate parking due to a parking garage adjacent to the theatre. Additionally has ample prepatory spaces.
Ronnie and Deborah Laws! Nothing left to be said. Outstanding performance and venue. The Douglass Theater is a treasure! Bring in more entertainment like this for $20 and the theater will fill up every time. Thank you!
Went to see a play and I really enjoyed it. It was so funny and I will be back again. Theatre had this classic feel. Something from back in the day. It was great!!!
Spent Easter Service with my Church family providing He has Risen Production... What an awesomely, Awesome time!!!
Great place to be. There is a camp at the Douglas in the summer with great talent and amazing kids
Historically great. Grew up in this theater. P. G. Douglass was my grandfather. I still enjoy western movies to this day because of my grandfather. He would play Gabby movies and all of the western movies doing that era. I got a chance to meet people like Otis Redding, James Brown, Little Richard in their very early years. My grandfather was a big influence in my life.Thank you for letting me share.
I loved the nostalgia of the theater and the friendliness of its patrons. There was quite a bit of history on display in this historic theatre. I would have given the theatre a five rating; except for their having failed to prepare a small inexpensive/temporary seating area near the entrance doors for their physically challenged senior patrons. I watched as they stood with canes and walkers leaning against the building waiting for the treated to open its doors. The line at the locked main entrance door was long and the theatre would later be packed with patrons to see the limited showing of the documentary Amazing Grace. Of course the problem was exacerbated by a locked entrance door and starting late. Finally, a couple of other patrons knocked on the glass entrance doors and addressed the issue; and the disabled seniors were permitted entrance early; but mind you, the usher monitoring the door noticed these senior handicapped patrons early on and was not forthcoming in offering them any assistance...I certainly hope theatre management take note of this post.
Wonderful place to throw events and have plays and shows

I came here to visit for the heritage festival and it was a very clean and welcoming atmosphere. I am new to the area and it was nice to see a functioning theater and professional staff. I hope they maintain it! Ill admit that it was a little small, but it was still nice.

The place was very beautiful and nice and I loved the college film festival, but I have to admit that the chairs were rather uncomfortable.
This place is well known throughout GA because of the rich African American history. It has an awesome theater, reception area and the front can be used as a courtyard.
The Douglass is a beautiful, intimate venue for whatever the occasion might be. Movies, stage performances, or events present beautifully in this renovated, historic theater.
I love the Douglas because they have entertainment fit for Seniors. I grew up going to the Douglas theatre to watch movies. I am so thankful for the many activities structured for people over 50 yrs of age. Our kind of movies, music, plays and a place to hold family functions. Even the AARP have stepped in to provide pertinent information to help keep seniors informed about important life matters and its all at the Douglas. Thank you so much for keeping the historical Douglas a place in Macons downtown heritage.
