I truly love Lynden Skateway and the family that runs it! Be prepared to spend a bit of money, but remember, its a business!Concessions are normally priced and we choose to buy reliable cups that we can bring back, $2 for 20 ounces. The place is clean, and they have many fun games for the family, including limbo, wacky skate, and ther dice game! The only advice I offer is that they do not enforce masks during Covid times, so if you are concerned, you might want to wait a few before enjoying this indoor activity.
I went with my kids and grand kids and we had a great time.
I just started learning to roller skate and I wanted to find an indoor rink because of the smooth surface. I like this rink because it is big, the ground is smooth. I rented skates which dont cost extra and the rental are great. I didnt have any problems with the wheels or the size. I do wish they had more open skate hours.
The good: Great place to bring your family and have fun. The 80s nastoligia is alive and well here. Decent food and family atmosphere. You should come! The not so good: if you are planning a birthday, DO NOT pay for skate tickets in advance! If not enough kids show up to hand them out, and you are left with tickets, they WILL NOT refund you or even let you use the tickets later! Youve been warned.Other than losing money on our sons birthday party, we all had a good time and will probably come again. The no refund policy didnt ruin our good time but did end the day on a slightly sour note.UPDATE: So what we were told by the gentleman at the front counter, was that they couldnt help us out. However, my wife spoke with Terry before we left and asked her to give our left over tickets to someone who could use them, Terry instead gave us free skate passes to cover our reamaining tickets! Very cool!
My daughter suffers from Absence Seizures. They are photoreactive for her. That is to say, she reacts to lights, strobes, adversely. Tonight, as she skated, my daughter alerted me to a headache and having problems because of the wildly flashing lights.I talked to the staff, and they were great about changing the lights somewhat, so she would not react so badly. They bent over backwards to help us out, so she and her friends, could enjoy the skating too.Unfortunately, she had already had to much stimuli and we had to leave despite their efforts, as she was becoming dizzy and the boat had already sailed.I tip my hat to everyone tonight, that worked so hard on her behalf. Thank you.Thank you too, for your offer, to repeat the effort, if we called ahead or let them know earlier. You have really gone above and beyond.
Fun place to take your family. Thanks
Waste of money, but, not time. Unless you count waiting in the line for 15 minutes just to get in and pay or 30 minutes to get drinks. A friend ordered a hot dog and it took 25 for it to be prepared. The rental skates are old, worn out, and make your feet sore. Staff is rude and indifferent to the wait times. They charge for water and the prices are outrageous for all concessions. The water dispenser is gross. Open for three hours on Sundays. Paid nearly 20 buck for 3 hours of activity. Silverwood is 40 bucks for 12. Well at least is less expensive than the theater. Yep, Ill go back due to lack of options.
They were awesome
Took our grandkids here on Saturday. Wonderful experience and wheelchair accessible. Staff was helpful and even let me roll out (wheelchair) on the floor to do a few laps with my Gkids. Another skate location in Kent did not let me do that before. It was a wonderful, memorable experience!
This is a cool place to roller skate and you should come here to roller skate
Loved the 80s skate! Great music, excellent turnout! Looking forward to the 90s skate next month.
I grew up skating at the Lynden Rink.
Its the only roller rink in whatcom county. Its a a bit over priced and in need of some serious remodeling. Also the hours are terrible. They need to open more often. Overall its not terrible, just these few things that need to taken care of.
This is a fun place for all ages. They recently added new carpet. that Super busy, and glows in the black light. Good music, they have a few different games, limbo, hokey pokey, and a dice game. Winners get a prize. No outside food. And the snack bar is so so. Customer service in snack bar is never in a hurry.
The carpet in the non skating areas is amazing. its great environment to skate it, food available, and easy washroom access while on skates
The skateway is great but the lady behind the front counter is a grump. I didnt like her service at all and if we dont go back, it would be because of her simply being an unhappy person who makes everyone who walks through the door feel like an inconvenience.
Im there twice a week amd it honestly such a nice place and a lovely local buisnes to go to. They replace the floor every two years, amd its honesty not that exspensive, i love all the derby teams that practice there. Honestly a great place to check out, the owners are really nice. All in all the Lynden Skateway is a good place to spend time with friends and families for a couple of hours for a few dollars
This is a horrible place. I would not recommend anybody to go to this place specially if you have a child with special needs. My son and I come here just a while ago for a friends birthday party and it was not a good experience for us. My son is Autistic and needs help doing things sometimes specially roller skating so while we were there at the birthday party I was out on the skating floor with my son helping him so he would not fall down when this lady that works at the skate please came up to me and side that I could not be on the skate floor with my shoes on that I had to have skates on or get off. I calmly told her that I did not know how to skate myself and that I was helping my son with autism to skate so he would not fall down. She was very rude and did not show any sympathy for the situation she just kept telling me that I had to get off the skate floor. Then when I tried to ask her way I couldnt be on the skate floor to help me son she threatened to call the police on me. I then asked to speak to the owner because I couldnt believe she was threatening a mother who was trying to help her son with a disability and she said that she was the owner. I did not want to cause a scene so I got off the skate floor and had to leave my son to skate by himself. He really wanted to skate but was really scared and nervous to do it himself. Then a few minutes after leaving him out there by himself he fell down and got hurt. When I want out there to help him get up the owner was out there and she was giving me a very nasty look. I will never go back to this place ever again for the horrible way my son and I were treated. They have no sympathy or respect for people with disabilities.
We drive down from Canada to skate here several times a month. The staff are really friendly and knowledgeable. The rink is really clean and the snacks are tasty. There are usually several really great skaters to watch and there are lots of games for everyone. Highly recommend.
Im a skater from way back, even still have my skates from back n the day. Do the Brulands still own it? I was at a skating party a few years ago, hadnt been for years and there were the Brulands! They taught me how to skate at the Armory bldg in Bham, I took lessons, was in a couple shows. Forever grateful to these wonderful people and their love of skating. Influenced generations! Now at my age of 61 I have a hard time finding friends to go, my friends are old, lol! Speed skater!
Super rude. I don’t usually post responses and maybe it’s a Lynden thing but the staff were extremely disrespectful and quick to judge. Paying $7.50 just to sit and watch is extremely unbalanced and a way to take advantage of people. I physically can’t skate, but I wanted to be with my fiends. I get it’s a corporation, but they need better morals.
This is an obvious staple of Lynden, I have been coming here since I was a little girl and I have plenty of memories at this place. Now I get to watch my son skate here. This is locally owned and the owners are amazing. I will continue to come here and have fun.
I loved it, we need tons of more community places all over whatcom county as solid, safe, and family oriented. We loved it.... yah ...yah.. for lynden skate rink. Also the staff were phenomenal. I vote for every town to he successful, like this place
I really enjoy roller skating here. Sometimes the workers here arent the happiest but oh well. It is sometimes quite expensive to get in, but I always have a good time.
Great place for family fun!
Love it I well always go back
Will never make a special trip here again:/. Very unpleasant and unprofessional staff. They have very pricy food that is not delightful in the slightest. Skagit skate has never let our family down so we will be sticking to their facility from now on.
There really wasnt much excitement. Ive taken my Grandson here twice, He liked his first visit, it wasnt overly crowded. I also took him here for their New Years Celebration which was quite boring, nothing really different except for they gave out hats and horns. Instead of having everyone gather, special lighting or a special countdown in general they just counted down over microphone horns blew and that was that.Next time we are going to Skagit Skate for New Years for the kids.Skating rink here in Lynden is really nice, they do have free ice water and are very friendly. Its a nice rink to go to, just not up beat and exciting. It is family friendly.
This place has not changed much. The same owner from when I was a kid 30 years ago. The way the tables are set up is pretty annoying. There were 4 different birthday parties all in the same room kind d of meshed together. It didnt seem all that organized to me at all. The skating is always fun of course.
Rick is well maintained, a good mix of free skate and games. Could do without all the single use plastic containers though that could easily be replaced with compostable paper.
I love this place!! So much fun for the whole family.
Love this place, girls love it. Friendly helpful staff. One major dislike is you cant bring your own food in which is a hassle if you have food restrictions. As there is zero options for people who are allergic to gluten, soy, nuts.
Great place for all ages of skaters. I went to the open skate and there were completely different level of skaters and it all worked out. Whenever someone fell over they woypd get right back up and everything just went smoothly there. Also, it looks like a great place for a birthday party.
The 80’s called and said your carpet rocks!
Fun place to skate, takes me back to my days skating with friends.
Cool
Love their Friday morning toddler skating!
This is a roller rink and the whole operation is very accommodating.
Its smart to take a water bottle or cash, theres free ice water but it costs for cups and it doesnt reach the debit card minimum. We avoid sugar drinks, and I only had my debit card on me. We did have a ton of fun! I took my husband and kids for my 40th birthday family fun!!! Another tip... if you have your own skates or blades, bring them! Then, you have whats comfortable to you and you save a few bucks!
Have you been roller skating lately? I highly recommend it - it’s everything you remember: a little stinky, a few video games and greasy food, plus kinda corny wholesome fun. Don’t worry, skating is like riding a bike - it’ll come right back to you. Sort of. :-)
Awesome family friendly rink.
Average service. Youre able to have a fun time skating, especially with friends & family. Also a decent place for parties.
Very cool skate rink. Slightly older but clean with nice wooden floors.
Pretty good. Staff slow in concession stand. Staff pretty much followed our kids telling them to throw their yeah out. When they werent even finished with their food and drinks yet. Rented walkers for our young ones and half of them were taken by other families
Loved going skating here but my girlfriend got ignored 2 times while standing in line to buy things. Her mother went to order pizza and the lady came out and gave her doughy/raw pizza so we complained. They made a new one and it was the same exact thing but slightly better. My girlfriend is pregnant so she was able to eat the food because it wasnt fully cooked like it should be
Fun time... A little bit of a bumpy floor
Fun family outing!
Favorite hang out spot as a kid! Great for family outings ️
Staff are SUPER RUDE and you get kicked off the rink if you don’t want to play the games meant for 5 year olds... it’s simple logic if I paid to skate I should be able to skate..
Typical skating rink. Fun games, decent prices.
Fun place to be at to be skating
Great place for family!!
I had my daughters 2nd birthday there for the tiny tots hours and It was amazing we had so much fun and they were so accommodating
Love roller blading here
Wonderful family entertainment!
My family hasnt been in awhile (8 or 9 months), but we really enjoy this place. Before life got a little more busy, we would go at least 1-2 times a month. We have also held our childrens birthday parties there. We have always been treated well. We like the atmosphere and the nostalgic feeling of when my wife and I were kids!
Super fun, great staff and excellent facility
People who work here are rude and have a horrible attitude! and if you even if you have never skated before you are still not allowed to use the cart unless you are under 10, also if you dont want to play games meant for 5 year olds they kicked you off, we didnt get told this when we payed, so 10 minutes were wasted watching a boring game, we paided to skate and so we should be able to skate i would think... not impressed at all with the people who work here, they are all SUPER RUDE!!!!
Great place for a family outing or birthday party. Family owned and operated. Friendly staff. Classic roller skating experience.
A fantastic place to go fun and safe great for family an awesome place to have birthdays...
Not crowded and skates and floor are in pretty good shape. The rink itself is pretty rundown but clean and affordable.
If you want a safe, family oriented skating experience this is wonderful! Once inside and skating it is like it used to be in the days when roller skating was fun and cool. It is a place to relax and enjoy the fun of just skating. It is not into digital and electronic everything, it is not glitzy and remodeled, it is just plain old fashioned fun. You will not be bullied, nor hear swearing, nor see teens smoking and making out in public. You will just see kids and parents talking (imagine that) laughing, and getting physical exercise together! Oh and their Slushies are pretty good.
Nice place to have good fun with the kids
Great family atmosphere. A perfect way to spend a Saturday night!!
I just love to go there. It is fun...
I love this place! My children and travel from Vancouver, BC about twice a month( about a 90 minute drive.) I love the old floors and the retro feeling. I have never experienced rude behaviour from any staff member. It is sad how empty the place always is. It must be hard to make money.
Always love this place. Its like a blast from my past. Get there early during the free skate and its like you have the place to yourself sometimes.
Great place to spend time with the family or freshen up those skating skills!
Kids love going skating, best activity on a rainy day!
I have roller skated here several times over the past 5 years and they are always been friendly. The prices are very affordable especially when you consider it costs 17 dollars to go see a movie on Bellingham ten dollars to skate for 3 to 4 hours is nothing and that includes roller skate rental.
Love this place, all roller rinks for that matter, better than sitting on rump watching phone
Its really fun to watch the little kids learn to skate, the hot dogs are really good, they have a nice snap when biteing into them. And the large refillable cups at a deal. But the prices are a little high for most of the food.
It was bad. The time way 8:45 and they wanted to change full price 45$ in all for 5 people it was horrible.
Fun place if you have friends were going with you
Fun little rink with a great setup on Sundays for young kids
Fun little rink, will go back to just skate. Definitely eat somewhere else, the food was kinda spend for super cheap, not so tasty junk food.
Classic Roller Skate. Beautiful floors, good tunes.
Fun had by everyone.
So much fun for all ages, as well as good prices.
I would say overall the place is pretty good. A little expensive though. $10 for each person!!!! Oh, and if you go out to get a book or something and you already payed they wont let you back in unless you pay again.
Fun birthday party!
Twitter @FernyOfficialMy Opinion: I Love being with my Family its a great Place to Hangout with friends and has a Nice floor.
Great skate. Not many of them left.
Great facility. Lots of fun. Floor is great. Lots of nostalgia. Everybody is friendly.
Had fun night with my kids and gf and my father.
Kids had a blast
Great staff clean building, wholesome family fun.
Loved it everyone there is so nice they all enjoy skating and they have that place not for the money but to share their love of skating to many other people!!!
Great place to host a birthday party for the kiddos!
I really enjoyed it but staff at concession stand were really slow
Great place to take kids or for a date.
Great place for taking young kids. The owners are very strct regarding no drugs, alcohol or other bad behavior. Other reviewers that think the owners are rude probably were doing something wrong and got caught.
Small and not very crowded but lots of fun
Good family fun at reasonable prices!
Fun. Wide selection of music.
