Went for a tour of the Academy. The history of the theater to what it is today is truly fascinating. Every aspect of the new building melded with the original is so well thought out and absolutely beautiful.We were there during a dress rehearsal and the acoustics sound amazing! Would love to come back for an actual show.

It wasnt what I expected... It far exceeded my expectations! I took my wife to see Deconstructing Abbey Road as she is a Beatles fan. The show was very informative and interesting.We sat in the second row left of center. The theater itself is done up as it would have been in the gilded age. Exquisitely ornate gold plated trim and real marble around the sides. Giant red curtain. Balcony box seats. It was like we were transported back in time except for some updated LED lighting.My advice is to go see a show there, however get there early. Parking is somewhat limited but the experience is well worth it.

This is a really cool place. My daughters dance recital was here and they have done a wonderful job renovating this theater. The had concessions and plenty of seating. I dont think there would be a bad seat in there because of the size.

The renovated theatre is beautiful and an amazing addition to Lynchburg. Great sight lines on the main floor and first balcony (didnt go to the upper balcony). The space can accommodate a good crowd while still feeling intimate. The lobby is new and modern, which is an interesting balance with the historic theatre.

Am on my 3rd class, instructors have all.been great. Also did date night pottery class. Have met new friends and am continuing to learn new things. I highly recommend. Worth the 1.15 hr drive for me!

The newly restored Academy Center of the Arts Theater is beautiful! A great place to see a show.

First Fridays has blown me away each month. Superb curating!Starting to really come into its own as far as booking a wide range of quality and engaging show for the community. I look forward to seeing what the future brings for the new(ish) venue.

This is a little gem, that I wished I had discovered before now! I would see the building on my visit downtown and it looked like a great venue, I was not disappointed. I look forward to seeing another show!

Beautiful atmosphere, snacks and drinks available. Third balcony seats kind of suck, recommend no higher than the second balcony if you really want to see the stage well.

It was wonderful, inspite of my pain, I really enjoyed the play. They were really nice to bring me a special chair. With the renovations Its so nice in there. We wanted to support Benton and we were so proud of him.

First time visit on a first Friday- enjoyed seeing a variety of paintings, sculptures, etc. Very informal come and go; I think it was 5 to 8 PM. Snacks provided and wine or soda for purchase.

Frozen Jr was fantastic. Those kids did an awesome job, and dang they could sing really well.

Fantastic show with Peacherine Rag Time Band playing along with Halloween Theme Silent films. Laurel and Hardy, Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin. Acoustics are wonderful in the early 1900s refurbished theatre. A real Treat!

The recent renovations to this historic theater have adapted it into a thoughtful blend of historical details merged with modern design standards to create a wonderful venue in which one can really enjoy the performing arts. A great place to see a show!

The Sensational Soul Cruisers show was FANTASTIC. The Academy is beautiful and the staff/volunteers wete very ice and helpful. We just had a hard time finding parking...will know better next time!

Beautiful and historically remodeled building. They have wonderful event here. The concessions are inexpensive. Memberships are not that much with great benefits. Not to mention the seating is rather comfortable.Here they aim to make your experience a night to remember.Without a doubt the best theater in the area.

It was a girls evening out. My sister, niece, and I really enjoyed dressing up (even though it wasnt required) to watch the Cinderella ballet.

Fantastic experience at the newly reopened Academy. We experienced the wonder of Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra as one of the Academys first performances in 60 years. That speaks for itself, but it was also great to explore the theater the previous weekend during the holiday movie marathon and discover some of the history and interesting features of the theater. Its not often one gets to wander around a spade like this. Looking forward to many more great performances!

Attended here for a local awards event. Nice venue. Modern, yet historic. I understand there is a theater for stage productions/concerts etc but I didnt see that. Parking was a little tricky as the venue itself didnt have much parking available that we were made aware of.

Performance of the adventures of Huckleberry Finn was excellent. Great to see this historic venue alive again. Theater is absolutely outstanding. Modern, comfortable, not a bad seat in the house. Sound and lighting are state of the art.

My family and I went to the holiday movie marathon over opening weekend for the newly restored theater. It is absolutely beautiful! The staff was very friendly, refreshments were reasonably priced, and we thoroughly enjoyed the event. It was $5 for a whole day of holiday movies (we stayed for two - our daughter is young). It was magical! We will definitely be long time supporters of the arts here.

The theatre was beautiful. This was our first time here and we loved it. The staff was friendly and helpful and the comedy show was hysterical.

Just standing in the theater, you can feel the history in this place. The staff is always pleasant and, as odd as it sounds, the bathrooms are the most beautiful public bathrooms Ive ever seen.

A beautiful venue with first-class acts. Ive seen 3 performances here and each one went off flawlessly. The people behind the scenes are amazing. Everything is professionally done from the sound and lights to the staging itself. The Performing Arts Center is Lynchburgs crowning jewel.

What a fantastic concert hall! Great restoration! Roomy seats, great acoustics, for the experience it is a good price and adds so much to the area. I hope they start putting the shows on the marquee because seeing these names in our town is exciting.

Really nice venue. Convenient parking was free. Beautiful theatre. Look forward to another show. Could use more help behind the snack counter at intermission.

Attended to see my daughter perform her cheerleading routine as well as to watch Hocus pocus. The three witches roamed the building visiting, interacting and taking pictures with all the guests. It was great!

It was good to see Back to the Future on the big screen but you have to buy one of their cups for 3 dollars to drink in the theatre and then a beer was 6 dollars (it was only 3/4 full)! Ridiculous! Nice theatre and glad to have it downtown and I dont mind paying 10 dollars but I dont think Ill be going back any time soon...

Amazing show of Midsummer Nights Dream, from Blackfriars Playhouse in Staunton. Just fantastic, so fun and funny.

Fantastic community theatre program. The sound still needs some work and ushers should stop patrons from filming performances with cell phones. (that kind of thing destroys the theatre experience.)

Its truly amazing to see this place. It is accessable, attractive, and holds true to its historic lines. The project was well funded and advertised, so top notch talent could be arranged. The seating and amenities are top notch, they have ample parking, come check it out!

This is an amazing venue that has been beautifully and painstakingly restored. If you love that old world feel in modern times and are looking for great entertainment this is the place for you.

We attended the Lynchburg Humane Society Best Friends Ball fund raiser. The facilities are kept in great condition and are perfect for shows and even meetings.The best friends ball was a blast with live skits, auctions, excellent food, and an open bar. We brought our dog and got to meet adoptable puppies, kittens, cats and dogs.A fun and well run event for a great cause.

Historic theater is beautiful and I love the shows put on by the camp kids.

Love this place but watched Ragtime which was hard work. New season much better

Liberty Universitys presentation of the Will Rodgers Follies was excellent, and the restoration of the facility is amazing. The revival of this old theater is a resounding success.

Went in to purchase tickets to see Taj Mahal on the 27th of July.Young gentleman named Tremaine was very helpful in getting my perfect seats. Cant wait for the show!

Our seats were in EE row and the sound wasnt as good as expected. Very hard to understand words. Others around said the same.The show was good preformers worked hard. All of the theater works very helpful . Will watch for other shows, like music starts shows.

Theres not many options for local art and performance events in Lynchburg so Im grateful for the Academy Center. Ive been to a couple of plays and charity events and have been satisfied with the Academy Center. Most recently, I went to the 2018 hungry bowls with my mom. The bowl donations from local artists were beautiful.There are few issues, however. Parking is difficult and the door is in an awkward location. Seating for plays are cramped and uncomfortable. The hungry bowls event was poorly organized this year. Three lines snaked around the packed room with no guide ropes. The bowls were almost gone by the time we arrived and we got there 15 minutes after opening. After waiting in the second line to get our bowls, mom and I left because it was overcrowded and we didnt want to wait another half an hour to get food.We were happy to donate to charity but were disappointed by the lack of organization. Tip: bring a seat cushion if you plan to attend a play!

Went to this location for a small concert and it was a wonderful setup and beautiful venue. The staff were friendly and helpful. The prices for drinks were average in price but still fair. The facility was mainly standing for this concert but it was a good feeling.

Enjoyed the venue, only issue I had was the sound was over amplified. The venue was designed for no amplification, with a band like no bs brass, it needed minimal. Vocals were distorted and the drum way over driven. Especially dat snare

The Academy Center of the Arts is an excellent facility. I have attended a number of events and fundraisers there and have always enjoyed the shows. The theaters are small so everyone has a good seat. They staff provides excellent seating and care for handicapped and elderly patrons that need help.
