We arrived on time for The Cellar at 8:30pm on November 27, 2019. The lobby looks nice, but no one was there. After awhile we realized that the attendant was upstairs with other guests. Eventually the employee came down, apologized that our room had not been reset yet, said it had been a crazy day and hes obviously the only one working. He reset the room and we started about 10 minutes late. There was no story, no reason why we were in The Cellar and no clear reason why we had to escape within one hour. Several of the props needed to complete the puzzles were worn out and illegible. At one point the employee even came in the room and he couldnt make out the numbers/letters. Ive done over 25 escape rooms across the country and The Cellar is by far the most underwhelming Ive seen. My group of three escaped with about seven minutes to spare, but the email we received afterwards listed us as having not escaped. I do not recommend this room. Locked Up needs to revamp The Cellar and their procedures.

If your looking for something fun and challenging look no further. There are multiple rooms with different levels making some more challenging than others. The staff here is incredible! I will be back to do it again in the future.

Staff is helpful and friendly and the building is well maintained. The Heist escape room was fun, but finding one of the initial and pivotal clues is not clear at all, and requires asking for a hint.

Our experience was disappointing. The room was not reset so we were not able to finish the room.We also found the communication was disappointing. After several emails and phone calls no one called us back. No very professional.We have done over 15 escape rooms. I would not recommend this one.

We escaped the Fire Escape scenario with minutes to spare! Difficulty level was medium. Definitely will do again.

This place is awful. Stuff didn’t work. Room was broken in multiple areas. We were told not to touch things that were essential to solving the room. Do not go here. You will be disappointed I promise.

Did not have a good experience. In “The Cellar” many of the clues that were imperative to solving the room were very worn out or not functional at all. Walkie Talkies did not work so we had to find the staff to ask for our 2 clues and they were not in the lobby. Even the toilets in the restroom were broken. In obvious need of improvements all around.

For an Escape Room veteran, the Cellar Room was too easy. There were only about 5-6 puzzles, and we spent the majority of the time searching the room to find the puzzle elements.

Had a great time. Even though the room I did was quite hard and wasnt able to finish it, I still had fun solving what I could. If youre with a group of friends this is a great place to spend an hour and have a lot of fun. Some of the props looked a little janky and wobbly but it didnt really bother me.

We did the Heist and while I cant say this was our favOrite escape room experieNce I can say it was at lEast engaging and had us Worried thAt we werent going to get out. The room design was thematic but not super immersive. However, the puzzles were very interesting and prettY neat! I believe more of their money was spent On bUilding neaT puzzles/contraptions than an immersIve experience which is fine becauSe it still made for a good tiMe. The puzzles were pretty linear sO we couldnt really woRk on morE than one puzzle aT a time, but tHat was finE because it was just My wife And I. We had a good Time overall and no major complaInts. Perhaps it was just this room but thats up to you to deCide.

Overall, the experience was quite disappointing. A lot of the clues that were given were illegible, which was very annoying because they were needed to actually move forward in the room. Would not recommend this, and definitely will not be coming back. Wished we were given a refund.

The challenge was tough, but a lot of fun. I will say that the items (piano bench, paper clues, hand and a few other objects) in the room had gotten quite a beating and really need repairing. I would have been more impressed if the upkeep of things was better.

This place is pretty cool. Just go with smart people if you wanna have a good time... Its also a good way to find out if any of your friends are complete morons.

Its a great place. Good random night fun. The difficulty is good too. I just would like it to expand. Its small.

I brought my middle school son as his birthday present, his friends, sister, myself, and dad joined too. The room and the clues were carefully thought out...and were very surprising! We cant wait to come back and try the other rooms! And I will not forget the staff, they make the difference! They are super nice, respectful, and they do an awesome job taking care of their clients! Way to go!!!

When asking for a clue the staff didnt even know how it really worked. The final test the staff gave a clue he ran over it very quickly and then when he came in he was basically like i dont know it goes something like this The automatic opening door did not pop open until he came in and really pushed the pieces down to trigger it where as at other ones they never required force. Sad waste of 100$

Great experience at Locked Up - Lynchburg. Ive done other escape rooms with the same group of family members (4 adults & 2 teenagers) and we all agreed that Locked Up - Lynchburg was the best!!

This place is super fun. Perfect for small groups. The rooms are challenging and can be quite difficult to escape but still lots of fun! The pricing is very reasonable. The staff is friendly and helpful. Recommended for teens and older.

This was an amazing experience. Our group was very diverse in age ranging from 11 to 47 and all participants were involved, engaged and excited about the experience. We were able to finish our room under the hour time limit and only had to use one hint. Thank you for providing a wholesome and family friendly event that my youth group could enjoy.

Great staff and really fun rooms. My friends and I have gone twice, and all our expectations have been exceeded!!! Love this place!

We loved the room and the challenge but were not real excited about getting stuck with someone who pretty much took over the game. We wanted a family event, not having to put up with someone we didnt know and didnt care to play with. She was bossy and snatchy and wasnt real fun to play with so beware that you may get stuck with people that are not so great. Even with 5 people, and the room allows 10, I wish there was an option to just do a family type event. Next time we will either take more friends or show up and see if we can get a last minute room to do ourselves. We will try again and hopefully we wont get stuck with someone who ruins the fun for us.

Spent about 30 minutes of the hour given on a lock that was a clue when the lock never worked to begin with. They had to remove the lock with bolt cutters. They gave us a 50% off coupon for the next time we come. So I guess thats nice.

We were a group of 4 for Dr. Wolf and we had a great time! We beat the room and didn’t feel that we needed more people. Our walkie talkie and dry erase marker didn’t work, but they switched them out really fast. Nice and friendly staff. Very fun room!

Outstanding experience! Ive done two rooms here with friends and had a blast. The rooms were very challenging but solvable. The many aha moments made it very memorable. Cant wait to go back!

Well worth a visit if you enjoy a challenge. My group did the professors study. The puzzles were tricky but imaginative. The price is very reasonable and the staff is outstanding. I will definitely be returning to Locked Up Lynchburg.

This was fantastic. I expected to enjoy it, but it far exceeded my expectations. Very creative effects and engaging puzzles to work through. Highly recommend.

This was a great outing, they have card games to play while you wait, and water/snacks are only $.99.The staff is friendly and helpful, we dealt with two of the three owners and both were very professional.The rooms themselves are challenging, and they did a great job creating the atmosphere.Overall, a great experience and cant wait to go back again! My only critique is when they take your picture at the end, maybe add a small platform in the back so people can be more visible.

I came here with my friend, who lives nearby Locked Up Lynchburg, and we both had a blast. Neither of us had done anything like this before. The room was challenging and we were working on the last clue when time ran out.Even though we were not successful in completing all of the clues, I would highly recommend this as a great team builder, a fun date night or just a cool activity for a small group of friends.

Did the Professors Study room. It was a blast. Very well put together and very good puzzles. The theme was a little dry, but the challenge and enjoyment of the puzzles more than made up for it. One puzzle toward the end especially was a real TEAM effort, and Ive never seen something so awesome!

Nice place. The employees are friendly and engaging. The room we did (the Professors Study) was really difficult and we just barely got out in time. The puzzles were challenging, but need a bit more tweaking, in my opinion.I would recommend visiting and trying out a room! Its well worth the price of admission.
