This place is amazing. The staff and fellow skaters make you feel like family and take care of each other. Reasonably priced and all skates are clean and in great condition. Lockers available for 50 cents to conveniently lock up your belongings. Bar on site with friendly bartenders. DJs know how to get the party started and keep it going.
The skating rink itself is cool. Great music. I feel if you’re not at least a decent skater it’s kind of difficult because many of the people in there are advanced and don’t take into account how flipping directly in front of someone as you’re passing them can make a beginner unsteady. (Or they do and that’s why they do it). They also have about 30 minutes of time where if you’re not an “advanced skater” you can’t get on the floor so be prepared for this. And they literally went around pulling people out if they saw you wobbly on the skates. I heard people complain about it saying they paid the same amount as everyone else. I was able to get on the floor so I guess it didn’t bother me as much, but I can see why someone would be bothered. As far as the facility itself, it’s not somewhere you want to go if you’re looking for decor and aesthetics. It’s relatively dirty. Many of the benches are broken. The bathroom is disgusting and looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. It’s a cool vibe if you’re really into skating and that’s all you’re looking for.Disclaimer: I’ve only ever gone to the late night Adults Only skate session.
Please do something about parking. A night of rollerskating should not involve hours on hours of searching for a place to park. Not to mention police are out looking to arrest or give out tickets to ANY individual attending Saturday nights. I’ve been here a few times and it’s always the same with parking and the amount of cops circulating the area is incredible. It’s really not fair. There should be some type of negotiation with other parking lots for individuals who pay to get into the arena, pay for food and beverage throughout the night. There’s not even a paid parking meter or park station! This is ridiculous. $100 PLUS if your ticketed for FOUR hours of skating makes absolutely no sense. Really THERE should be something done. Do something about this!! PLEASE and thank you!Annoyed skater!
Such a fun time roller skating. I was a lot better skater 33 yrs ago. I remember when I could skate backwards and spin. I cant do that anymore. Im lucky to just be able to skate slowly.
The cover charge is $14 and $4 skate rental, $.50 for locker. The minute i walked in an uncontrollable cough started. I coughed so much i started asking the workers if they cooked seafood, Im allergic to it. I was told they didnt sell seafood, so why couldnt i stop coughing? My chest started tightening bad. It became apparent that theres so much dust, that i truly believe the ventilation system was never cleaned. The rugs are extremely old, so old, and dingy theres no way to see the actual color. I pray they fix up the place because it does have a large section for skating, which will make anyone want to revisit. The music was an old school selection from the 80s which makes sense to me because thats when roller skating became popular. Unfortunately for me, i couldnt stay long enough to witness if the people there were friendly. As soon as i left with my group, my coughing stopped. I love skating and i do hope they rip the rugs out, and clean the ventilation system. Please let me know if you ever do, i will surely go back, until then Ill pass.
Looking for a good workout while having tons of fun this place provides it!!!!! Everyone is welcoming and very accommodating to all classes of skaters. Dont be afraid or intimidated to go if you have never skated before or its just been a while since you put skates on. They do have an ATM on the premises as its cash only for entry. The food is decent and well priced. Staff on the floor while your skating is very good and helps beginners get on and off the rink very well. Love this place great to go with or without a group
When I was growing up this was a great place to go for birthday parties. Great atmosphere but the place could use a bit of an update. It is a cash only place but last time I was there they had an ATM available. Snack bar is a bit pricey
I had a pretty nice time. Not a lot of bad things. Workers were friendly, a lot of space to skate, great music. Would recommend
The place is amazing and the staff are super nice. I will definitely be there again. And the skates fit me perfectly.
The crowd was great, music was nice, the people was polite, I went there with a smile and came out with intentional of definitely going back. I had a fantastic time. I look forward to going back again most definitely.
Its fine. It looks a bit old when driving buy. The rental skates were pretty beat up. Its good place to take kids so that they can enjoy themselves. I do wish that they would stay open longer hours as on Saturdays they open to the general public from 3pm to 5:30pm.
Hours arent truthful. Shoes arent the best. Facility is decrepit and less inviting than United States.
More like hot garbage. No, expensive hot garbage. Dont waste your money or your time. They need to shut this place down. Greedy, cheap owners. This place is a rip off. They must be paying the people on here writing positive reviews.
Rink is smooth and easy to skate. Fun adult nights on Friday. Parking lot ground needs upgrading. Womens bathroom is outdated. Needs upgrading.
Had such a good time. Good music, nice crowd. All the employees were polite. Worth the cash, Ill be back!
Its pretty awesome place but definitely needs some upgrades. Seems like they are still in 80s or 90s. Place needs physical repairs etc as well.Bathrooms are clean yet very smelly.Food court is also same situation. Needs upgrade to better seating plan.Staff is very helpful and courteous. Kids enjoy their time here.
You can have a great time here, however for some strange reason some adults come with a real bad attitude and are eager to be hostile and combative. Leave that at home. Otherwise place is real fun with great music from the DJ booth. The professional skaters are so nice and very helpful. Go and focus on your skating experience.
The place is a dump. Cash only. However there is a 2.50 Atm inside. The cost is 14 dollars to enter and 4 dollars for the skate rental. The DJ plays boring music for young kids. Occasionally playing a up to date song. Popcorn and snacks are expensive. Shut it down!!. An they have a dog in the pay booth to enter. Yuck!!
Skating floor is really worn down, lots of Dedicated skaters helpful and very friendly, they always come to the rink to enjoy the commeradity and we all enjoy the skating sessions, Everytime.Unfortunately some cliques and individuals do disrupt the enjoyment of the skating session with their rudeness and immaturity, so be prepared to ignore some bad behavior.Overall you can have a great skatingTime while disregarding these specific individuals. You have lots of fun.
It has that 80s decor. We had fun. I have read other reviews and agree with the cons. But there are good things also. The youths who work there are pleasant.
This place is so outdated it’s ridiculous from the aesthetics to the food. My family and I came here to have some fun...skates are old, no alternative food options for people that don’t eat the bs they serve. Asked the manager if we could bring in our own food due to being on a special diet and was told absolutely not. Food is over priced, Entrance fee is ridiculous. Management is a joke. Manager on duty walked around straight face with his hands behind his back the whole time...crack a smile, it’s a kid /family environment. No people skill at all. Upgrade the environment, upgrade the food selection (it’s the 21st century! ), clean the bathrooms, clean the whole place. Oh don’t forget to have a positive attitude, the goal is to have customers return!
I always had fun, but it was never the cleanest place. Unfortunately they recently closed, probably because of their bad reputation of being dirty. United Skates of America is still open.
It is barely a four only because of the good time we had with the people and the music. The concession stand ran out of bottle water and the food is bad. The drinks were over priced and the parking was inadequate.
Best birthday party ever! Great for all ages to have fun together. Thanks Hot Skates!
The skaters were going so fast and pushed me down. I ended up busting both knees. Bad experience
Cool spot for skating.....one of the last standing places left to skate. Bring cash with you. No cards accepted.
Nice place for kids but a bit dated. Price for food is pretty high too
I love hot skates because they play good music and it look so nice. Also its fun and amazing
I really enjoyed myself. It was a family outing to remember!!
I think their price of $13 dollars for Not skate just watch... its too much... and if you forgot something in your car... forget it..!!!You have to pay again to come in..!!!
Dont bother, this place closed down.
Great atmosphere great music... reminds me of when I was younger and went skating with my dad on Saturdays...
Hot skates was a good experience remind me of empire roller rink on smaller size such as space
It was the greatest place to be on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday nite. You could hear the music playing from the outside as dj-d or dj arson rock the building.... this place will be missed.... 40 years in business, family own.... it should have been a city landmark
This place smells like a old locker room w 30yr old carpet, and not very clean. The staff is very unfriendly and come off as RACISTS!! When leaving the Rink Westbury Police follow you and harrass you for no apparent reason other than RACIAL PROFILING!! SAVE YOUR MONEY N TIME GO ELSEWHERE!!!
I Love hot skates. The music is good, they have a bar, come on and hang out get your skate on
Ive been attending hot skates since I was in middle school! I love it here, such a good atmosphere and decent prices for a fun night out. Friday nights are the best, for age groups 15-23 which they play a lot of the latest music which I like! I recommend you bring your own skates though just for hygiene purposes and nice comfort! Honestly I wish the food was better though!
Absolutely loved it! I went for a friends birthday party and it was very memorable. I enjoyed the time and eventhough it was my first time roller skating it probably was the best place to try it out! People are very nice and the 80’s vibes are so nostalgic! The food was alright but besides that it was very, very FUN !! So I totally recommend it if your looking to rollerskate with some friends or just to try it! (Make sure that before you go you use the bathroom at home and eat something) once you do this youll be fine while roller skating! :D
I went with my camp, but when I noticed the prices with rental (13.50 per person) and prices for just entering without roller blading(9.00)Those prices are stupidly high as this place has nothing special to offer. There was one rule announced on the loud speaker that bugged me. The rule was that everyone had to go the same speed. This annoyed me because what about the begininers who have to go slow or will fall or experts who want to go fast. Just go to the park, its better and free than this garbage place. Some food prices are high, but that only bugs me a drop, because I have bought something. The non-rollerskating floor is old and dirty especcialy the bathrooms. This place need a major renovation!!! If you are looking for something special, dont go here, this place is lucky I rated it two stars!!!The only things that are good about the place, or even decent are the food(decent), snack(okay), disco(decent), and music(okay). This place literally has a poster of this place from 1982 and it looked way better then!!! Maybe in 1982 it was good, but its terrible now!!!
This place has gone so far down. Used to bring my kids here when they were small, now nieces and nephews. I had to pay $12 ea for non skating adults... really. Dining area full of small gnats/flies...disgusting. The bathrooms were smelled from outside of the doors before you even entered. They smelled worst than public restrooms in an outdoor park in the hot summer. You can charge non skating adults $12 but you guys cant keep the restroom clean and dining area bug free. This place is a dump. Take a ride further out and go to United Skates. Never again Hot Skates. Oh and still the good ol days of cash only.. really.
This was such a great spot for fun, keeps our kids active and off the streets. Such a shame for it to close down.
Was trying to book a party for my sons birthday party and the lady was soooooo rude I had to walk away. And then she said she was being nasty because it was 30 minutes to closing. So what? How is that my problem? I’ve been working too. I refuse to give them a dollar and seriously hope they go out of business or someone buys this place over. NASTY!!!!!
Great spot for skates, great drinks they just need better food!
It was awesome and if you didnt skate you dont pay to watch
Dont go on a hot day. The air conditioning in the skating rink is great, but anywhere else in the building youll swelter. Staff was friendly, even though it was a hot day. Expect to pay too much for food and bring quarters for lockers. You cant film or photograph anything while skating (makes sense) so be aware before expecting to selfie skate. They closed in the afternoon to reopen again later in the day, so they kicked us out. Im sure theres logic behind that, but for the amount of money you pay to get in, itd be nice not to have to worry about time limits in the middle of the day.
Horrible, Outdated, Musty and soooooo unattractive! Better off going to USA- United Skates of America! I wish I did! For those prices, You will feel ripped off! NO STARS!!!!! How about negative 10! They probably have bedbugs!
While the roller skating experience was fun overall, food and drinks are very overpriced for very small portions and they taste horrible in my opinion. I would recommend bring in your own food. Staff is very rude and nasty. I asked for a key because our stuff got locked in, and an employee or the manager was very nasty saying “ that makes no sense, use your common sense” and personally the only reason why I would go there again is for the roller skating experience otherwise don’t go and waste your money. Also admission is overpriced .
Great music, decent prices. Busy on a Saturday night ran out of my size in skates.
Good old fashion skate rink. Not too many of these anymore
Had a great time.! Thank you very much.
My joint good music and good peoples always good vibes shout out dj d and dj arson
Its a great place to learn how to skate and have fun.
Nice rink with rentals in good condition. Helpful staff. Fairly clean facilities. Terrible food but thats to be expected from a skating rink.
I have been coming to Hot Skates for 19 yrs. Took my Grandkids yesterday. They had fun but for Gods sake update the place. You have a good thing going there. Business would be much better if you bring it into the 21 century. The staff at the food counter was so overwhelmed & frustrated.
DJ Funk Flex Kool DJ Red Alert and DJ Buggs Z Buggs were playing music that rocked the house I enjoyed myself
Sorry to say this place has gone downhill since i was a kid. In fact, it still looked like it and smelled like it to. Food was horrible frozen garbage and expensive. Disappointing. If they put some effort into it and redid the place, it might actually make some profits.
Its a horrible place you cant ride back wards without the guy saying STOP and he screams at you and gives you a bad look. The bathrooms stink like pee Im sure they never clean it and the food coast so much money. Go to United skates instead they are much cleaner than hot skates and their bathrooms dont stink like so much pee their. United skates has cool photo on walls hot skates doesnt. Their kitchen is disgusting their workers are horrible the pretzels are so stale and they microwave them then they put them in the oven for 2 min. I recommend going to United skates.
Didnt even make it to the place, the phone service was very poorly handled. He was rude and arrogant, instead of answering my question or being polite he directed me to the website and hung up. I called back twice after that and he didnt answer. I will never visit and I was bringing of group of 10 with me so Im glad they lost the business. Based on how he handled the phone service, I would definitely not recommend.
Nice atmosphere with plenty room for skating and even for beginners
Very funky in there and not in a music way, but the music was funky too. Will not be returning, glad they are closing.
Perfect way to workout while listening to your favorite old songs
Wonderful place to get ur Roll Bounce on great music & great people
Hot skates is a great place to play roller hockey but there is one problem... They NEVER NEVER NEVER put money into the place. You cant even see the score on the scoreboard because every light is out on it. It smells terrible and nothing has been updated in 45 years. The benches, air conditioning, ceiling, rink, boards, and glass and much more could use some TLC.
Love this place for family and adult fun. Friday and Saturday nights are a must!
I had a blast. But the table tops were sticky in the dining area and I had to exchange the first pair of skates I was given because there was a nail or something in the show, poking through.
This place isnt the best by far. Hasnt been renovated probably ever. Smells like mold and popcorn butter. The woman at the front window is rude. Overpriced for the condition of the place. $12 no matter what age and the sessions are 2 hours long. I wont be coming back here again
It was great to find somewhere to skate and at a reasonable price. However when I arrived there was no skates in my size. 6&7 was completely out.I had to wait 20 mins before someone returned a pair. They were hot and disgusting a bit. But sprayed them with lysol and went on my way. The music was great. The drinks was good price but not that strong. Overall the place is awesome and I would definitely go again.
Cool atmosphere. DJs always on point. Drinks too expensive at the Bar tho...Overal loved it. Grown n sexy...
HotSkates is the place for skaters, not just parties and family sessions..its the rink with lots of energy, some charity events, and the Skate Key reunion . Its also the home base for SKATEROBICS, the movement of instruction, fun, and skating safely, by Tanya Dean...
Great spot to take the kids. It would be nice if they upgraded the place a little bit. The place seems a bit dated
Awesome place. Had a lot of fun. Will be returning again soon.
Still a great rink. Having a blast!
Old school skate rink. The music is banging & they have a bar, which is a plus. They just definitely need to upgrade the place.
First time skating in about 13 years. All the pros/regulars/non-rantals were very helpful. Once I got the glide down then we were ready to go. The environment was great. It reminded me of an old high school reunion. We need more places around like this one.
This place had an atmosphere,of GOOD PEOPLE,WHO LIKE TO HAVE FUN,AND CONNECT, I WAS ABLE TO FILM, TWO EVENT V.E.P
I WAS HERE 25 YEARS AGO. LET ME TELL YOU IT REALLY ISNT THAT GREAT OF A ROLLER RINK. LACES WAS FAR BETTER IN MY DAYS OF ROLLERSKATING.
The skating floor itself is great, but the building and facilities are OLD, and really dirty. Im talking, nacho cheese and enough gum squished into the carpet to never want either of those things again. The bathrooms are really gross and everything is just outdated.
Goooood times. Gooood times. Get out there.
This is a wonderful place to go roller skating at and to hang out at too
The atmosphere was friendly The people are friendly I never skate before until last night So I had someone From the skaterobics crew teach me how to skates. Still have to learn more but am on way to be better.
The atmosphere was good and music lively
Hot Skates skating ring is a lot of fun for friends and family and the good thing about it they have parking
Horrible place. Unfriendly to children. The owner told a little girl to stop staring at her, she’s not a fishbowl. I couldn’t believe she spoke to a child that way and for no apparent reason. Place needs an update and bathrooms smell terrible. A place that attracts children should have staff that at least know how to speak to children. I will never go back.
The skating was fun, but the service at the snack bar was not that great. I ordered a drink and they gave me the wrong drink and wouldnt let me change it. The prices were way too high as well
This place sucks, some of the tables are almost falling, people that are good at skating can’t go fast, it’s super expensive just for entrance, and you can’t use your phone on the skating area. This would be the last time I ever go to this terrible place...
Horrible Customer Service. I was gonna look pass that the place needs some repairs and upgrades and give it a decent review but now that the Lady in the office was Extremely Rude in person and On the Phone when I asked I question she got super loud and rude and had a horrible attitude I will never go back here again such a rude lady in the office and who answers the phone. And the guy who I am assuming is the owner that sits by the bar the whole night looking at people with a drink in his hand is kinda creepy.
The place is okay. Unfortunately if you live in Queens this is the closest if not only roller skating rink near us. They definitely need to invest on upgrading the place. Very outdated look and the need to clean their kitchen area better. When I go there I only buy drinks for my son. I didnt have any issues with customer service they were very nice. Especially the man that stands by the rink looking at everyone.
This is the place were all the real skaters (Great skaters/Great people) go to do great things and meet great people. There is no other rink like this one!!!
Best skating experience since I was like 16, their adult night is very cool, good vibes, good music and alot of fun.
Super fun on a late Saturday night! Great floor for skating.
Hot Skates has got me back into roller skating after all of these years thank you hot skates
Fun place but always buy the large lemonade if you want more bang for your buck
Fun times but really old looking. Bathroom are falling apart. Was worried that the bathroom ceiling was going to fall. Music was okay. Need more life in there.
Had fun when I went. Hadnt been skating since I was a kid. Place could use some updating, and better ventilation and air conditioning. I was sweating my butt off after a few go arounds.
Nice place to take a new old date... Funnnnn time. Staffs very helpful
