Our son and his friend were sooo excited to feed all of the animals. We were super impressed with everything they had to see here, aside from the awesome animals the park itself is very neat! With a sitting area where there were handmade metal flowers and other designs down to hand carved dragons out of tree stumps. Was also impressed with how much room there is so with covid restrictions everyone is not right on top of one another. And all of the other families visiting were very respectful. Will definitely be returning next spring!!!
Pretty good for a zoo but they seem understaffed (probably due to Covid) some of the cages were mislabeled which was kinda funny...Most of the animals seem well taken care of though. They all have places to hide away from humans when they need a break. Easy parking. Fair prices. For an added cost you can get food to feed the animals which is the absolute best! I would definitely go back. It’s probably way better not during a pandemic...
I was so pleasantly surprised by this beautiful place. We parked our car, I opened my door and heard adventure themed music playing from inside a tree in the parking lot and it just totally set the mood for the afternoon. I love how the place is made to look and feel old and I love the playgrounds they have for the kids, the animals they can climb up and sit on. You can buy bags of animal food at the front entrance to feed the various animals throughout the entire zoo. Really such a cool place! So peaceful and serene. Everyone from the staff to other visitors were so nice and friendly. Definitely come here!
It was fun for the kids... However... For the price we paid for 3 adults and 2 kids i would have at least expected for some of the animals to have the correct names posted. The emus had a sign that said donkeys and some animals werent labeled at all. It was cute just expected a little better for the price. Ill stick to forest park zoo.
I hadnt been there in many years and was pleased with all the updates. It feels like a much more professional zoo now. However, they sell large bags of food to feed the animals but there are very few food tubes (which is the only was you are told you can feed the animals). Many animals were in view and friendly toward visitors.
This is a great zoo. My kids absolutely loved seeing the goats and otters. Even with the covid restrictions there was a lot to see. Were definitely going back to revisit.
It is getting colder so some of the more warm weather animals have moved inside and the barn is rightfully closed due to health concerns, but Lupa Zoo is still such a great place.
Lots of cool animals here. There are some very cute little river otters who love swimming running around their pool. They were my favorite. The battery on my camera died but there were so many more animals. The kids loved getting up close to some of them. Plan on a long day though it will take a few hours to see all the animals especially as its a lot of walking and little legs or older legs might need some breaks in between exhibits...
More than just a zoo. A beautiful space run by beautiful people . Great family fun with inquisitive and social animals. Better every time I go.
I have to say is fun but is getting chilli and a lot of animals were cold or just hiding there was no station to wash your hands and the sanitizer dispenser empty all of them the bathroom were nasty even with the mask you can smell it and theres no jiraf anymore
Lupo Zoo. Was great. The Flower are so Beautiful. We had a great visit.thank you Joe.
Its a great place to spend a few hours with kids/grandkids and they have so much fun playing and seeing animals !
Fun time visiting the animals and getting to feed some of them! Masks encouraged not required
I was very exited to see the giraffe, unfortunately he was gone for the season! Other than that, it was a great time! The gift shop is very reasonably priced as well as admission prices. We over all had a fabulous time, my grandson played on all the kid things, we went a few days before school started. Their were only a few other folks there, not over crowded at all!
Disappointed, the zoo isnt kept up. There are exhibits that need maintenance, garden areas were not pretty, cleaned up it would be nice.
My kid had a blast which is all that matters.
It was good and i had a great laugh with the family
This was one of the most depressing places I’ve ever been. There were no animals out. Not sure Why but no one was around to ask questions. But the real issue is how disgusting all the enclosures looked and how visibly unhappy each and ever animal looked, well the animals that were actually there. Just disgusting looking enclosures, over grown grass everywhere, hard to even find the animals in like 70% of the enclosure . What was the most heart broken it seems like the animals are abused and not being fed . Right before leaving there was this little antelope, where you could physically see their ribs and bone structure. Just so sad
This private initiative should be recognized. Although one would expect a zoo with a huge variety of animals... this one does the job! I had fun and loved it. Animals are very well taken care of.
Some small cages that are more sad than entertaining. Hardly any staff working. I think they need some upgrades, if they could increase size and accessibility to would be excellent. Also the food trailer shut down at 2PM which meant we were starving.
The price was too expensive but my kids had so much fun we went with the family.️️
Great little local zoo
Great place to take kids. The piped in music all over is terrible. The layout is a little funky.
Very depressing. The zoo looked almost as if it had been abandoned ages ago with every animal and enclosure looking extremely neglected. I also had to witness a staff member (the only one I saw the entire time) being very aggressive and yelling while working with one of the animals. Overall the entire experience was upsetting from begining to end. Do not support this zoo.
I had such a great experience with my family at this zoo!
Affordable, close by, the kids can feed some of the animals
This place was wonderful. Its not very commercialized, but the animals are very well kept, the staff friendly, the grounds clean, and ven the bathrooms were clean! Gift shop was reasonably priced, though not a lot of unique merchandise, some very high quality toys and books, and cheaper than expected. Read the history on the place it is interesting brought both my mom and my daughter (for her 5th bday no less) and everyone had fun.
Great place to be with the family and good entrance pricing.
It was fun because... I like animals? Idk if you like zoos, its a pretty decent zoo for the area. They have plenty of smaller cuter animals but they do not have elephants and penguins.
So fun! My kids love it
The staff was super friendly, the animals all looked so happy. Ive never been able to feed to many animals and that was awesome. Definitely coming back.
Cute little zoo! Definitely will return if they continue to expand.
Fun little zoo
The cages are mislabeled... And I also seen no staff while walking around. This man and his kids were throwing flowers at the ottersAll the animals look really dehydrated
Nice staff, cool animals! Small enclosures, no water fountains :(
Always a fun time here. Zoo is just the right size and has a good variety of animals. They are always updating and adding new animals. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. All three of my boys have grown up going to this zoo and the changes over the nearly 20 years weve been visiting here are amazing.
We used to love coming here when the original owner was alive. But on a recent visit we were so disappointed at how unkempt the place is. And the animals are so sad looking. And the smell was disgusting. There is a variety of animals. But half the cages were empty and overgrown. And even the ones with animals looked like they were not maintained. I was really upset by the otters area it was dirty and barren and just unpleasant. There was one pen that was so overgrown I thought it was empty but in the distance there was an animal laying in the weeds. And they have their dog in a pen in the back which I thought was really tacky. They’ve added more play things and and a garden area but haven’t taken care of what they already have. It’s very sad. That being said my kids didn’t notice and they love the animals. They were happy.
Great zoo. Never even knew this place existed. Nice neighborhood non profit zoo. Interesting animals and interactive statues for the kids.
The best zoo nearby
Great value
Have little kids and there was no bathrooms available
This is a fantastic zoo to visit. I would recommend it to all. The animals are well taken care of and the staff was courteous friendly and willing to help. They have many small animals that you probably have never seen or heard of before. One of the most amusing was a chinchilla taking a powder bath To clean his coat. There is also a blacksmith shop to see an area of games in a train
Great service awesome environment
This Zoo is great! Money well spent. So many different animals to see and multiple playgrounds inside the zoo. Many people judge this zoo too harshly. Is it a state of the art facility? NoCould it be cleaner? YesAre some of the cages a bit small? YesBut this is a small private family-owned zoo and we are so fortunate to have it in our community. Please go to this zoo, support it, and write a good review for it. My little boy had the best day at the zoo and I hope it remains open for many years to come.
I always have a good time there!
Not well taken care of. Not a lot of animals.
No mask was needed, thats the best of all!
Always pleasant
Lupa Zoo is on the smaller side, in comparison to the Bronx Zoo or Roger Williams Zoo, but it isnt small at all. Its absolutely wonderful if you have kids or small children, because it isnt SO big that it feels like work just getting from animal to animal. There are TONS of animals, a great variety, and they are all very well-cared for (in response to prior reviews stating otherwise). The zoo is very clean and well-kept. The layout makes sense and is awesome. And as a cherry on top, it has a cute little gift shop and also Jungle Room with rides for the kids. It was absolutely amazing! We will return!
Love bringing the family here
I brought my Mom here who has Alzheimer’s and she and I loved it. I saw the few bad reviews and I have no clue what they are talking about. The animals were happy, well-fed and had plenty of water and it was a hot day. I am taking her back this weekend when I visit her. Thank you Lupa Zoo!
There were no animals out. Maybe its the time of year. Not sure no one was around to ask questions. after we paid to get in the lady disappeared. So not worth the money we spent. We wouldve been better off visiting a farm. Sadly disappointed for my kids.
It a a great zoo. Animals seem well taken care of, they have a decent selection, and the workers are nice.
We had a blast. The kids loved the monkeys and i loved the pigs. Local not too expensive great fun! Loved the little pkay areas so the kids could jump and play a bit.
Its okay. For tiny toddlers who arent really into walking it was fine. Half the animals werent there or out and there was only one tiny food stand with very few selections and expensive options. I didnt feel like the animals were mistreated or anything, It just wouldnt be my first choice in the future for a family day.
Depressing and horrifying; should be shut down. Animals are scared and aggressive, kept in small cages and Plexiglas viewing boxes. Rusting semi-trailers (see picture) sitting in the fields with animals. This is not a zoo, but rather some guys collection of animals he has captured against their will and is charging people to view in his backyard. It has been reported to the USDA multiple times and an investigation is ongoing. Would have given it zero starts but it required me to select one to post.
This is a perfect place to bring the family. It is clean and friendly. There is space for a picnic. The kids love it!!
Ive been taking my family to Lupas for many years. I brought my own children regularly when they were younger, and now Ive started visiting again with my young nieces and cousins. A residential zoo with a wide variety of animals and lots of shade and benches makes it a perfect place to go for a morning or afternoon stroll. More of a friendly than a fancy place (dont expect lots of frills) but truly a hidden gem of western Massachusetts.
I enjoyed the zoo but the animals could use some grooming in a big way.
DO NOT GO HERE. The animals are extremely abused and it left me so upset. Half of the animals had no food or water, and would fight over the pellets they gave us to feed them. The bear was panting and shaking from being over heated. The alpaca, sheep, and camels all needed to be shaved desperately, as the alpaca could not even see. The pigs had patches of bare spots where they had dry skin that was flaking off. Not one animal looked happy, this place needs to be shut down. The enclosures are all run down and not taken care of. A complete eyesore and terrible for the animals. Something needs to be done.
Such an amazing zoo! They take such good care of all the critters in the place. The amount of different animals is awesome. They sell a huge bag of food for only $5. Lasted all day and had plenty more to hand feed the deer. All the animals looked happy and healthy. Plenty of space to run around and interact with their friends. There was no gross typical zoo smell in the air. I think the otters were my favorite. To bad the giraffe were hiding, we would have loved to see them. We will 100% go back next year for more visits. Thank you for providing an awesome time!
A great family-owned zoo in the heart of Western Mass. The animals are very well taken care of, theres a good variety of animals as well. Highly recommend as the amount of animals is well worth the $15 admission (for adults)!
Great zoo. Incredible variety of animals. They seem to be happy and well cared for. Although web site should be updated that the giraffe died.
Such a lovely zoo! They have a wide variety of animals. The enclosures are a fairly decent size. However some of the bird cages, like the one i saw for the sun conure, was way too small! Even my two parakeets have a cage that was twice the size! Other than that it was a great experience!
DONT GO TO THIS ZOO. The state of Massachusetts should be ashamed for letting this zoo stay open for Operation. I have never seen such deplorable conditions. It was dirty and the animals are being kept in horrible enclosures. There was a donkey that could barely walk because his hooves were so grown out. The ducks were all in an enclosure with no pond. The otters wouldnt go in their water because it was so filthy. Half the enclosures have nothing in it. This zoo is going to give me nightmares. I feel so terrible for how these animals are kept at this zoo. This place should be shut down, and the animals should go to places where they can receive the care and enrichment they deserve.
Wow this place is amazing, I had the best time of my life with my little girl last weekend. I would recommend this place to anyone who has kids, take your children to the lupa Zoo its worth it, they have all kinds of monkeys and birds, lizards and snakes, big black bears, camels, zebras, lemurs, but theres a lot more animals I forget the names of but as long as your an animal lover this is the place to go, I plan on taken my daughter there every weekend this summer just to see and feed all the amazing animals they have there. If I was millionaire I would donate a couple million into this place and let everyone come in and see the animals for free. Thats a dream, but we can keep this place going as long as we keep going back, I definitely will.I hope others to the same. Please tell everyone you know about the Lupa Zoo..the owners are amazing, and I promise you will enjoy this place, you will enjoy all the animals..
Clean, friendly staff, good animal selection
Great place to visit with Family.
Wonderful (small but clean) zoo! We even got to feed a giraffe! How cool!
With the pandemic its not the same
Today was opening day. Great zoo for children and adults alike. We will be going back in the warmer weather. All the animals seem well cared for. The owners are continuing to improve the grounds and exhibits.
Animals yay! Lol and you can feed them which was great. Not the biggest or best zoo around but still had a nice time.
What a great local zoo. All the exhibits were clean. It was easy to navigate through the whole place to see every exhibit without backtracking. A lot of variety and all the animals were out and viewable.
Great local zoo : friendly staff, clean, animals look healthy and taken care of, admission went up but what hasnt its worth it I recommend visiting zoo
Very good for families. Good amount of animals.
Was a great birthday party the kid had a blast
Great fun for the kids
Very nice little zoo. Clean and well staffed!
The animals are sweet, well fed and well taken care of. They are clean and super sweet. Loved it
This zoo used to be awesome..alot of pens empty.hardly any one there..back garden not kept up..for 15.00 a person its not worth it.pens gross..hardly any animals..i was sad being there..they should find homes for who is left and better taken care of.
Delightful afternoon destination. Perfect for 5 and 8yo, please help support a local bastion of yester-year!
Had a great time with family...so much fun. No Giraffe as they advertise.
Came to Boston from Syracuse, NY today. Researched a bit ahead of time as I was traveling with my 2 year old son who LOVES animals. Came across the Lupa Zoo in searching, and said WOW, this is the perfect place to let him run around for an hour on our trip. Anyways, arrived on 4/30 just before 4pm to bop around for an hour as the advertised hours were until 5pm. We drive in, park and make our way to the entry. Another gentleman states he is looking for anyone who works there as he was there to pick up his season pass, however no one is to be found. We walk up to the entry where there is no real closed sign, yet no real sign of life. Then a gentleman with his young children come walking out with a stroller. We ask if the place is open, he says yea til 5pm, but was not sure where the staff was. We walk into trying to find any sort of help. We come up to a monkey exhibit where my kid is immediately tuned in to, full of smiles. Within seconds, here comes a Chevy S10 pickup coming into through a semi open gate, actually striking the fence scratching the truck. I walk over to actually help the guy, open the fence and help him back out. No thanks, instead he gets out saying I came to actually tell you we are closed.... ok.... so I tell him we just drove 4 hours and were hoping to see the animals for a few. Sorry, no, the weather sucked today so we closed early.... nothing more.. thanks... my kid is crying screaming more monkeys.... Wouldve gladly paid to 40 bucks for the 2 adults and 2 year old to walk around for a half hour, but was not even an option. Thanks for a horrid experience, and basically stalking us in your pickup until we pulled out. NEVER again.
Had a nice relaxing day at the zoo, nice variety of animals, clean park, and reasonable pricing.
Its ok to go with the kids. Its seems that business is not doing so good.
It was great, but two things they need to do get adult tshirts,in the store, and I hope and maybe a new giraffe and or a elephant or 2
Nice zoo
Quite little zoo with play areas. Nice place to visit
Love this zoo been going here since a kid and you can get so close to the animals.
A little hard to find but great place for a walk around and families to have an outing. They had a Zedonk!
This zoo is one of the hidden gems in our area. Plenty to see and do. It was sad to learn the giraffe had died. The staff is very willing to interact and educate its patrons on the animals and what they enjoy. Parking was plentiful and free. They do have a limited food selection. Eat at an area restaurant prior to visiting the zoo.
Omg I love this place. The staff is so friendly and kind, the animals are beautiful and very well cared for. The over all appearance of the zoo is so clean and welcoming. Its a nice zoo for the family to visit. Highly recommend.
This is a horrid zoo. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to Roger Williams. Im speaking from an animal welfare standpoint. Animals are lying in feces. The bear was extremely overweight. The leopard was pacing back and forth and growling. The crocodile (or alligator cant remember) was living in a concrete pool with no foliage or substrate. This is a private zoo so Im sure there isnt much funding available and theyre working with what they have but please just close. Theres no reason to run a business with animals treated this way.Definitely not a happy place. Left feeling sad.
Small. Animals kept in very small enclosures. Not pleasant. Whatever you do, DO NOT eat there!
