I like Backstage live because they have allot of originality and underground Lubbock talent coming through those doors. Whether it be rap, rock or some up and coming comedians. Always a gem or two. I saw Smooth and Booga Bradshaw both rock the stage. The drinks are good as well, decent diversity as far as the crowd goes as well!!

Thought Id break the review into two pieces, for your average show-goer and for gigging bands:If youre into great local and touring rock, comedy, and unique acts, Backstage is about as good as it gets. The stage is awesome and the sound is great. Youll see acts come through Backstage that arent anywhere else. The staff is helpful and quick and its a great intimate show setting where you can get as close to the stage as you want. Theres a large bar with a solid selection. Great for local acts.For bands: The equipment at Backstage is top-notch ACTIVE equipment. JBL tower speakers and fresh monitors for the whole stage. Sound is run by two of the best guys in live sound in Lubbock, Ryan and Tommy, and theyre meticulous in making sure you sound as good as you can while doing live mixing throughout the show based on song selections. The stage is huge with great power distribution and an opportunity to get close to the crowd and interact as much as youd like. Youll make what you bring in through the door (typically a $5 cover) but when we play, its so much fun its hard to worry about the money much. Great venue, great people, 5 stars.

I like it very much. The only thing than bothers me is the inside is too bright. It should have been a little bit darker. And they need at least more bartender.

Good venue. Ask about comedy night, well worth the visit.

Beer wasnt as cold as I prefer. During a show a light above the bar exploded and fell onto the bar. Exposed live wire was hanging from the ceiling. Bartender turned lights in that area off and was quick to clean up broken glass and serve fresh drinks. Bathroom needs updating. Okay little place to check out bands. Staff was kind and helpful.
