Very helpful knowledgeable workers. Healthy fish. My fish have had baby fish now and they buy my fish and take care of them well as they are rehomed. Helpful in resolving water problems with tank. So far i got a sparkling perfect tank eith babies. Thanks to american aquatics!!!

Usually a great experience when buying fish, but this last go, the tanks were not priced correctly and they charged me extra for my fish... We did tell them and they gave a refund and the man said your going to be the one waiting for it. This customer service situation was handling incorrectly, and we left feeling disappointed in the entire establishment.Maybe the employees should take a customer service course online to learn how to properly treat a customer.*on another note a whole family came in and none of them were wearing masks, but that was ok with the man that helped us, because he was talking to the father as a friend.

Any time I have free time I come here and show friends around it’s super cool. I also don’t recommend aquatic frogs, they will wake you at night making robot noises. Everything else 10/10. Best fish store ever :’)

Not proper acclimating instructions.Went to look and purchase some fancy tail goldfish. Was impressed with the cleanliness, quality, set up and selection.I will go back.However, I was not impressed with the lack in knowledge of properly acclimating fish in new tank/reservoir. Something of importance to be shared along with new purchases. When I asked, I was told just to float the bag for 15 minutes.That is only half of it. To achieve the best chances of your purchase surviving and thriving one must have proper instructions. I went online for the information.The purpose of acclimation is simple: the water that the fish or corals are packaged in has different temperature, pH, and salinity parameters than your aquarium. Fish, and especially invertebrates (including corals), are very sensitive to even minor changes in these parameters, so proper acclimation is the key to ensuring their successful relocation.After floating bag for 15 minutes, open the bag and fold it down about an inch 2 or 3 times, then add 1/2 cup water. After at least 4 minutes add another 1/2 cup water and continue this til the bag is full. Once full discard (not in the tank/reservoir) 1/2 the bag of water then adding another 1/2 cup of water every 4 minutes til bag is full again. Once full net the fish and place them in the aquarium/reservoir and discard the bag of water.This is one way to properly acclimate your purchase. The drip method is another.

1st timer to the store love it many options of breed of fish from salt to fresh water reasonable prices got treated better then other fish places includes petsmart no so good i recomment American Aquatics.

UPDATE 11/2020: After taking on more staff, the fish room is in MUCH better condition and has honestly been turned around. Better tank quality means healthier fish and the show tanks are now in pristine condition. Still three stars because well see how long that lasts. Beware of second-hand tanks. Not the best quality control on their resale items.Always investigate their tanks thoroughly. There are often ich outbreaks in some of their display tanks that they are willing to sell out of, specifically the rams. When I went in on Sep 22, I also noticed BGA/cyanobacteria below the substrate in all of the tanks that have substrate in the front room. The show tank with all of the large plants right inside the door was also REPLETE with algae like stag horn and green hair. Both easily treatable but unattended. It doesnt look like they take care of their tanks much at all.They do have a decent selection of hardscape materials and equipments.

I love this locally owned business. The staff is always helpful and nice. It feels like family with the way they treat their customers. They usually have fish you cant find anywhere else in Lubbock and change it up a bit from time to time.

They had a decent array of fish. I was looking for a pleco and they hadnt had any in that were under 2 inches. So I got one Cory instead as they recommended for the algae problem in my tank (5 gal). I thought they were normally small schooling fish but decided to trust their judgment because of the good reviews I had read about. Fast forward a few weeks and the Cory hasnt touched any of the algae. So I called to see if I could swap them out. They said I could and it would be the same price. I came in with my Cory and they dumped the fish and my tank water directly into a tank of Corys and some other fish. I thought that was weird and risky because they didnt know or ask about my water quailty. Then they gave me the smallest pleco they had (almost 2 inches) and then told me there was a difference in price and I had to pay additional. So I did and then brought the Pleco home. I acclimated him and added him to my tank. The next morning he was dead and then within the next few days the rest of my tank developed Ich and died before I could get the ich medicine in the mail.I realize I couldve quarantined the pleco and that part of the responsibility is on me. But they seem kind of reckless with their water quailty and the risks that come with it. And their info on Corys seemed contrary to what I have read and heard others say.The reason I gave 2 stars and not 1 is because they seem like only fish store with as much variety and products that I would like in a fish store in Lubbock. And at some point in the future I would like to expand my collection of fish so Ill cautiously give it one more try when that time comes.
