This a great park that has a tennis, basketball, yoga, weight training, baseball, jogging, and a dog park section all happening at the same time. The vibe of people who workout here is respectable and nice. The park-goers are definately of a diverse group and everyone gets along. Come out and get some sunshine and fresh air. And if you need to do some grocery shopping Trader Joes is right down the street.
Families come to feed the water fowl, do paddle boats, to ride bikes, scooters, and other family fun stuff! Ive seen some folks come to the big, empty parking lots in the back to play with their drones, radio controlled cars and planes.
I play tennis here all the time. The facilities and pricing are superb, and the staff is very pragmatic and nice. Almost like what youd expect from a country club, but at a public park.
I love the childrens area, straight out of a woodland fairy tale. The leashless dog area is studded with beautiful trees. There are tennis and basketball courts. And always lots of buff people working out on the equipment.
Good dog park, good place to work, and close to a lot of great places to grab food
Great Park with fun activities for the kids. The Director of the park, Glenn, is amazing and his staff is equally amazing and attentive!
2 stars cuz the basketball courts are not open. OPEN THE COURTS BACK UP LETS GOOO
Nice for a place to get away from the city traffic and for exercising.
Its a nice place its a nice place to work out early in the morning its quiet and clean
Excellent staff. Especially Raniel.
The Poinsettia Recreation Center is a gem in the middle of Hollywood. A neighborhood park, hidden away between residential side streets that provides a respite from the hustle, bustle, and aggressive nonsense of the city. Theres exercise equipment, plenty of grass, tennis courts and enough space for everyone to relax in covid-19 quarantine
Love this park, I go after work with my dog. I havent used the recreational center, but I always see little league games going on, and there seems to always be activities going on in the center itself. The place has large grassy areas, a baseball area, basketball courts, tennis courts, a decent kids playground, and outdoor exercise equipment. My only wish was that there was a truly fenced and gated area for dogs - the place is dog friendly, but the fences really only are for pedestrians, definitely enough space for a dog to run under. My dogter has never made a run for it, but I always have to keep a close eye to make sure she hasnt wandered to the street.Oh, if you visit the side on Waring, you may see a pig - Mr. Meat - hanging outside his owners house across the street.
Plenty of space, running track, great people show up
Is this place taking reservations online for tennis or is it still open court? I paid for two hours last week and showed up and the office was closed and people playing said you don’t have to pay after all. Just wondering why the site made me reserve and pay money online??
Court is ok but it needs to be maintained
City park with baseball, tennis & basketball facilities, plus an indoor center offering activities.
The best park in West Hollywood
Good place to bring your dog at 5am. Good trees as well
The facilities and pricing are superb
Quite possibly the worst team of rec center and or public employees. There is no communication, they don’t get back to you, and they remain completely unorganized. I am still owed money for a refund and they won’t get back to me. Do not waste your time here. Pan Pacific is great.
Cool but gets crowded
Everything in here is very cool: the stylists, the atmosphere, the music. But most importantly the hairstylist are very very very good. They regularly get trained and are confident in their work. I saw Brittany B. And she is AWESOME! She made me feel comfortable and relaxed during my whole service and I will definitely be back. Park in the back of urban outfitters all day for $8.
Playground. LAPD pop-up. probably still hosts Flamenco dance lessons.
Fantastic affordable child care (for fun, not education). Kids can also participate in other activities like hip hop and science offered by the park. And they have beautiful new grass. My granddaughters love going there after school and will probably spend the summer there.
Field is fenced off for no apparent reason. My trip there I saw there was an opening in the fencing that seemed deliberate so went in and used the field as a kind of disc golf driving range for practice (something I do all over the place when i dont have time to go to a course and play a full round) and had a great time. I didnt bother anyone and no one bothered me. However the next time i went I was chased out by some woman who had apparently appointed herself park security or something similar and she even called the police as I was picking up the few discs that i had thrown after I had agreed to leave. I was kind of surprised, i wasnt doing anything wrong, there was a very obvious opening in the fence that looked deliberate for going in and out and I was a little confused and kinda bummed out. Isnt a park for the community to use and enjoy? Why is the majority closed off to the public and why was I threatened with arrest for trespassing in a public park during its open hours? Its a bummer.
Awesome and calm park, we sure need more basketball players there
Great place to play basketball, softball and hang out
Its a nice, quiet, clean park. Its a good place to relax and people watch. It would be more enjoyable if there were more seats.
Love this park, the kids area is padded, and theres a nice shade almost all over the place. So far its the nicest park Ive been to.
Nice park
Would you like to smoke a blunt with me
Is always good to do exercise play handball tennis or basketball and also you can bring your dog
A nice neighborhood park with basketball courts, tennis courts, a small running track, and outdoor exercise equipment. All are free to use. Parking is free in the area. There are usually several dogs playing on the Willoughby side of the park, and it is easy to find a group to run basketball games.
Very nice park! Multiple basketball courts with lights that work really well at night. There is soccer field, baseball field and plenty of tennis courts. Theres also indoor gym! Water fountains are located throughout the park and easy parking along the outskirts of the park. The park had good balance of people, did not need to wait for anyone to play. Overall A+
Good park this park is good can use a bit of love but a good park.
I am so thankful that we have tennis courts nearby and a running track baseball/ kickball diamonds available to us however.
Nice park with basketball courts, tennis courts, handball courts, and two baseball fields. Also has a dog park that can use some more fences but its decent.
Ok Rec Center. Many classes and activities available. Especially great dance classes for all agesThey dont enforce leash rule and dog owners dont clean up after their pets. Whole place is used as a dog run.Watch your children as strange people around.
Not bad
Great Green space in the front off Willoughby side, very relaxing and usually quiet. My wife and I walked the park and saw that there is a nice exercise loop around the baseball field. My only complaint is that there is a fence around the baseball field which doesnt allow any access. Theres also a nice little park for little ones on the side and it seemed like a nice mixture of people all enjoying the day together.
From May to October, Street Food Cinema may host a few outdoors movies here and its a lot of fun. Parking wasnt bad for my friend and I noticed a lot of people in attendance also drove and were able to park alongside the park.
Nice quiet neighborhood park with clean grass fields for playing. Small partly shaded playground for kids is great, but one of the slides can get hot from the sun, watch your little ones!
Great place to talk to people with a unique understanding and patience with the flow of the address. Its always a happy and healthy atmosphere and lovely veiw. I hope you Have a great time when ever you visit the area!
Nice place to come and relax during your lunch time
Whats a good place to go relax and get your exercise tennis softball or just sit back and free touch with your dog
Super cool
I love this Park so much.
Had fun trying out the body weight resistance workouts. There’s a 1/4 mile track around the baseball fields. Good place for an outdoor workout, or to take the dog and kids for a picnic. Lots of open green space and a playground
THIS IS NOT A DOG PARK. Several dog owners bring their dogs and have them off leash while they play on the Willoughby side. This is strictly against what the signs say. I would advise keeping your kids off this sometimes poopy and almost always muddy grass. The grass on the other side is a nice big space for games and activities. As for the building and staff, I love it!Everyone is very kind and helpful. Many different programs for kids. Theres a small gated playground for young kids as well as a preschool and they hold camps during certain times of the year. My kids love it! They even had some indoor games, activities, and prizes in the gymnasium during Halloween for the kids. Cool stuff ^_^
Nice little dog area and now during springtime I enjoy watching softball games and tennis.
When you find parking, its a good time over there.
Great park for basketball, tennis and baseball. Theres also some work out equipment and a large field.
Theres a lot of shade in this park like the kids area
Ive been there couple times to my kid Pee Wee basketball league and its a great place and friendly environment!
I truly have been coming to this park since I was a little kid.It doesnt have a lot of fancy things (large soccer fields or a huge indoor basketball court) but it has a large area, seating for people to hang out, a feeling of getting out of the city for an hour. Also there are a lot of groups, from different martial arts, to yogas, to art groups, to other Recreations that meet at this park on the weekends or weekdays. I think its a popular spot for some of the meet-up online groups once in a while.I like to walk to this place and just sit down, enjoy the greenery and decompress for an hour. Only thing I wouldnt suggest is bringing children to this place late at night (and Im sure that goes for any park).Otherwise were lucky to have this piece of land in such a busy area.
Its open
Nice small quiet square Park in the middle of west Hollywood.
GREAT PARK! LOVED IT. BASKETBALL, TENNIS, SOCCER, INDOOR GYM - EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE! A ONE STOP RECREATIONAL STOP!
Theres a mini playground for children up to age 12, a basketball court and a baseball field.
Park with public restroom
Glen is the most accommodating, he aims to please. A must visit
Love this park great vibes!!
I go here all the time with my Corgi!
No parking except in street, there is a homeless encampment across the street. Lot of people exercise here the park it self is very clean and nice. Homeless would make me keep my kids away from here though
Loved the Brisket Sandwich, lots of meat and very tasty
Mfs hog the bathroom, mirror all out.
Not enough shade. Lots of homeless people. It was fine for adults playing basketball or softball, but I will not be bringing my child back to this park to play. It just didnt feel safe.
Poinsettia Recreation Center is a little bit old and not overly maintened, but it is still a nice place because there are plenty of activities to practice, that is to say, tennis, basketball, baseball, or workout.
The employees here have a bad attitude
They have people with leaf blowers putting dust all over the air for no point, its so stupid, it does nothing to actually clean the place only putting dust in the air while we try to play basketball, horrible whoever is in charge needs to be fired
Tennis courts can use a little improvement. Given the fact that they charge to play.
Need better cover for dogs, no holes where they can get in and run away, bigger area for just sitting and relaxing
Fun place for kids all ages
Big park with lots of room for children to play. Play basketball, baseball, football and people of all languages and you can play tennis there too. Bathrooms for everyone. Lots of parking spaces.
Great place to play tennis.
Homeless problem much worse than just a few months ago. I take late night or early morning walks around that park and its gone from a few solitary Homeless people in sleeping bags to groups of Homeless pitching tents…And theyre not at all neat and tidy about it, LOL. I just counted 14 fully pitched tents and over a dozen people sitting or Otherwise hanging around outside of the tents. This was around 4 AM on a Tuesday. I dont consider them a threat to me personally, but they certainly are an eyesore and I can see where some people would feel threatened by their presence.
I love their exercise equipment
Free tennis courts 12 - 5pm
Great place to have a tennis match
The park is amazing it has two basketball courts inside and outside to tennis courts a baseball field a workout area in the park and everything that kids enjoy being at
Love this park
The balling is pretty legit. It closes down for the summer for kids camp but during the year you can play indoor 5 on 5 which is rare in LA JV runs Tues and Thurs at noon. Big boys play. Mon Wed Fri
Great place for the Dogs to plsy
I got my car stolen, be careful
Nice park, relatively clean... I mainly came for the handball courts. Theyre a good size, but not in the best shape. Theyre double sided, but there is a good amount of litter on one side. I guess not that many people play to use both sides. No one was there when I went Saturday mid day, but it may have just been bad timing. Decent park but nothing fancy in terms of handball. Bristow park is still the best Ive seen in LA. Thats also 3 basketball courts a baseball field, tennis courts and some indoor facilities I did not bother with. Cheers.
Nice because we had a nice game we won 3-1.
Came here for the street food cinema movie in the park. Brought in food trucks and a movie screen on the baseball fields. Only downside was having to sit on the dirt (well blankets on the dirt)
Good park to walk your dog
Overall: RecommendedPros(s):- Tennis courts (*free*)- Dog park- Baseball field- Soccer field- Water fountains- Well kept grassCon(s):- Large congregations outside of the park
I have been going to the park for 20 years. Now i have a child. The renovations are great. So many friendships. We love it here.
Nice park with plenty of space. Good soccer field and baseball field combined. Clean tennis and basketball courts. Only downside is theres not much parking in the area.
Nicer than it has any right to be, small but nice
Everything I need for a complete workout but I always have to contend with maintenance & annoying disruptions...but I guess thats a good thing
