We will definitely come back! Each of the rooms where they show the movies have around 40+ seats so that everyone will be more comfortable and relax. The seats have individual armchairs that let you lay back and watch your favorite movie. What a nice to enjoy with your friends and family. Highly recommended!
I freaking love this place. How many theaters make your jaw drop when you walk in for the first time. I dont think I will ever enter a theatre this beautiful. And the organ player just seals the deal.Make sure to check out Midnights for Maniacs that they do about every month. Jesse Hawthorne Ficks always puts together the perfect selection of films. I never thought I could watch three films in a row with out getting a bit bored, but the atmosphere is lively and the films are always so fun. And you really cant beat paying only $10 for three films.
Imagine watching The Little Mermaid in a historic theatre in the flamboyant Cinespia Movie Screenings with people blowing bubbles and yelling at the screen. Thats what we did and it ruled!
I am always down for seeing a screening at Cinespia. Here are some tips to ensure you have the best time:1.) BRING A CHAIR, it has to be under a certain height, and your back will thank you.2.) Get there early and chill in line. Its fun! You can make new friends and sip on some wine or spindrift or whatever while you wait.3.) Bring friends! Its super fun and nice to be outside on a pleasant evening.4.) Bring a sweater. Yes, were in LA and its warm and there are no seasons we get it. It does cool down once the movie starts, so bring something warm.5.) If you drive, you can sometimes find a space on Gower outside the side exit of the Cemetery if you get there early enough. If not, parking is 20 bucks. If you do these things, youll have a great time. If not, you maybe wont have as good a time. I love Cinespia and will come back for movies anytime.
Arrive at doors or prepare for limited choices of seating! Food stopped serving as soon as the movie started, so my strategy of waiting for the lines to die down backfired. The Hollywood cemetery is beautiful and I wish they took advantage of the wide wall the movie was projected on to have it projected two or three times side by side to give more people a decent viewing angle.I love that we were allowed to bring our own food and drinks, the movie was great, sound was good... Just a little too LA for me
Went and saw Austin Powers. Great movie, cool idea for a venue, and they let you bring in your own beer/liquor/food/weed. Great concept. Only downside is the saturation of people. We arrived fifteen minutes prior to gates opening and we were at the end of the line. Hipsters with their Snapchat filters and instant grams were already congregating near the front, congesting cell service and taking selfies.
Best place to watch all your nostalgic faves. Bring a picnic, but follow the rules about chairs.. and dont put your blanket over the lines. People need those lines as walkways to the bathrooms.
Its 18 bucks, but u can bring your own claws, so you save some cash there.
The downside of this is that it is so crowded and there can issues entering (due to traffic) and the price for parking is kind of expensive. It does have a pretty friendly vibe, there are a lot of people that come here often. Nice music before and after the showings. I generally like their screening choices - especially around Halloween.
A movie at the cemetery sounds strange and disrespectful. However, The Hollywood Forever Cemetery has a huge open ground area with a giant wall that allows for movie screenings, vendor-booths, and a huge number of people all picnicking together. Its a very fun event to with family, friends, or even on a date. Checkout Cinespias website to see their movie listings!
This is my most favourite place to watch films. Ive been coming here for 5yrs or so. Some people might think its morbid to watch movies in a graveyard, but its romantic and lovely. When I first started attending you had to bring your own picnic & booze but nowadays they have vendors that sell latte corn and all sorts of good eats. This is a magical little place that I adore!I look forward to finding out what features they will be growing every year.
Great event that is fun and well run. Get there early to get the best spot to put your blanket down to sit on. Park in one of the outside lots and walk in. Parking in the Cemetery is difficult to get in and out. Dress warmly as it does get chilly. You can bring your own food for a picnic or buy food there. Cinespia has a great FAQ section on their website that is very helpful. Each event has a photo booth based on a scene from the film showing that night that puts you in a scene from the film. Great fun but be prepared to wait in line. Because of the large crowds, the cooler temperatures and the darkness I would not recommend this for small children but everyone else should go. This is one of the best organized events in LA.
So much fun! Great thing to do whenever. Feel free to bring TONS of food, pillows, and blankets (it makes it way more fun).
This venue is beautiful and I recommend jumping at the chance to see a show here if the opportunity presents itself. The Masonic Lodge is a lovely intimate setting where I have seen some of my favorite shows.
Cinespia is always a great time! They always show great old classic films and the photo booths are so fun and make for a wonderful souvenir! Porta potteys are also always very clean!
These events are sooo fun! This year we did Beetlejuice at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery and it was awesome. Pretty crowded but very organized so it’s not stressful. We packed a picnic, spread out blankets and had a great time. Just make sure you make an afternoon/evening out of it and get there super early to get a spot (like 2 hours+ before the movie).
First time and it was excellent. Show up early, bring your blanket and some snacks. We went to a very fun screening of The Sixth Sense and the Q&A session with M Night Shyamalan, Haley Hoel Osment and Jordan Peele was amazing!! So funny and so real. Honestly, what a joy to listen in on that. The Cinespia staff were kind and obviously love what they do. Will keep an eye on the future schedule for sure.
Being discriminated against while trying to buy a ticket is never a good feeling. My husband went up to the person, who denied me a ticket, and asked to buy one. She was in the process of selling ALL remaining tickets to someone else. She was stuttering for a sensible explanation, when confronted. Thank you Cinespia for ruining my movie going experience! Note to others: Send the white representative if you need a ticket!
It was a wonderful experience watching a movie in the Cementary. Although there are many people who attend and if you were to attend youd have to leave early to get there early for available seating because it does get packed.
Movie Experience was Great. Very Coordinate and Simple. Great Job Guys. Staff was Friendly.
Awesome experience! Screen was large and very visible even from sitting in the back. Well very well organized event. Would definitely recommend to anyone. Bring some good snacks!
Great experience with family & Friends. The person atmosphere !
Get there early if you want a good sitting area. There are several parking lots that are close by. And theyre a lot quicker get out of as opposed to parkinginside the cemetery. I suggest sitting in an area on the sides. As it will be easier to get out if you need to use the restroom.
Cant recommend this evening out enough. We saw Hitchcocks masterpiece North by Northwest here last night and it was fantastic! Get the internal parking pass cause its easily worth it. Get your picture taken with the movies backdrop, buy beer and food with a card, and an impressive set up for the 3500 person capacity crowd that attends. Wonderful!
I really want to give it 5 stars because its so well organized and everything is coordinated with attention to detail. The lack of the 5th star is only because its really crowded and quite a process to attend. There isnt a solution for this aside from it to become less cool and a terrible experience and people stop coming. And therefore people arent sitting on top of each other.
Very well organized. I would recommend you purchase parking. You may want to arrive an hour early for a good spot.
Cant go wrong. Xxx
Cool experience, its dumb to pay for parking here though. Parking costs more than a ticket and there is no point since youll have to wait until gates open to get in anyway. Just buy the movie tickets and park elsewhere.
Always such an adventure- nothing ever goes wrong here, service is top notch and all aspects of the events are so thoroughly thought through that youll never have a bad time. Make sure to bring a jacket though on days that are in the 80s because it will get cold.
They oversold the tickets so we ended up with no spaces left an hour before the show time. They made it right and gave us a VIP spot that didnt show up. Made the night worth it.
My other happy place. Hippie Chick LOVES them!!
Fun but crowded now. Still fun though and good for dance parties after.
Beautiful space, cool people. Great atmosphere as a whole. Would love to go again.
Great variety of films and its well presented on beautiful grounds that is respected since they are usually done on the Forever Hollywood Cemetery. Loved it.
Very great. Screen would be nice if it was bigger. But still very great
Great movie night, well organized.
Cinespia screens a movie every Saturday night in the summer at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery at 9pm, doors open at 7:15. This is seen by many as a quintessential LA experience: cemetery itself is stunning and the gathering on the lawn, palm trees in the background and huge outdoor screen make for a pretty awesome setup.Good to know:- Uber/lyft or park in one of the outside lots if you can, parking in the cemetery is difficult.- Primarily an adults only event: Late start time and movie content are not super family friendly.- Bring low lawn chairs and/or a picnic blanket as well as food and booze. If you dont want to bring your own, you can also buy drinks and snacks at the event, but not chairs.- Get there early if you can for prime seating, event definitely fills up.- The cemetery can only hold so many people so tickets usually sell out before the day of the show - get them early if you can.
Great setting, just be prepared to have a pre-picnic in the line beforehand so you can get a good spot on the field! Awkward chair / blanket policy means those with blankets can be blocked by chair people easily, they dont separate the zones like they do at other outdoor cinemas!
I love the vibe, food and entertainment! Quintessential LA experience!
I really loved the movie screenings
So MUCH fun!! Get there early it get close enough to the screen
The best movie watching experience you could ask for!
Amazing experience..... getting expensive though.
Really need to work on making people be quieter. Lately all I can hear are the drunken idiots shouting around me.
One of the best experiences in LA!!!!
The best movie venue in LA
My favorite Saturday night place to be in LA during the summer!!!
Amazing!
Well to much traffic for the surrounding areas because of those movies!!!
Like it
Great show
Amazing experience !!!!!
Beautiful, peaceful and iconic
