One of the best things to have happened in Harvard Heights since Ive lived here. Great event programming and community involvement from the staff. Looking forward to having Alibi coffee open its doors soon!

I visited START Los Angeles for Obvious Plants Museum of Toys. It was absolutely fantastic.Obvious Plant was capable of mixing the art and experience in a fluid way that stays cohesive to his arts message and aesthetic, and START Los Angeles was very likely instrumental in that process. The employees were friendly and to-the-point, the room itself was perfect for displaying his artwork, and its location and feel is perfect for low-key, talented artists to shine to the local community. The building is rather small, but its size is an advantage. Not many artists can fill a floor with their art in a way that feels organic, and a limited space demands problem solving that will, if done correctly, create an atmosphere of appreciation and community. The fact that multiple other artists attended to sell prints and interact with their fans was absolutely stellar and props must go to START for their flexibility in that regard. The experience was spectacular, the atmosphere was perfect, and I would recommend START Los Angeles to patrons and artists.

By far, one of the most awesome hidden gems in Koreatown. I stumbled upon this venue for a Secret Walls event and ended up using this venue for an event after. The owners there and at the Coffee shop attached (Alibi Coffee I believe) were completely welcoming during our event. Highly recommend this venue to anyone that is trying to setup any type of large scale event, its seriously the perfect place to bring amazing ideas to life. Cant wait to setup my next festival there!

Apparently all my friends in LA are artsy and have good taste in music and venues because this place was pretty much an ideal location for their wedding. The pop up space had everything from pool table, coffee shop, art gallery, inside/outside event space, dancefloor, art wall, solid acoustics, elevate DJ balcony. It’s really only flaw is lack of bathrooms, air conditioning (summer). With a capacity of hundred’s, additional bathroom trailers were needed. The wedding receptions bar staff (unknown if they were tied to the facility) were undermanned, underprepared. Having many years in bartender and event experience I offered some advice and tipped them well. The DJ overhead was cool, but the art wall and stage really made the inside feel special. The outside area, although was hot all day was gorgeous. They had food trucks and a smoking area. Security to keep interlopers out. Lack of air conditioning in the front waiting areas was an issue. The groomsman ended up taking our shirts off, but that’s just how we roll.We had nice gap between the ceremony and the reception to snack, rest, change, pregame…I can’t speak on price, value, or anything like that, but it’s a cool space that’s definitely got some features most venues would not let you do. I did really feel bad for the drinks vendor/staff. Both kegs foamed hard, ran low on cups. Drinks were executed poorly, no volume, lacked consistency, I’m sure they had a good recipe, but people just switched to straight liquor. Leaks left both the bar and beer/wine area pretty dangerously wet. No ice scoops for cocktails, ran out of garnish, ran out of cocktail napkins. I did feel bad because I could have helped avoid some of these things if this was a private contract, if it wasn’t they need some real work.Yeah maybe I wasn’t a patron persay, but I was a consumer and was impressed with them. We need more spaces like this in San Diego.
