I had the most amazing time here! The beginners class was the best introduction class i have ever taken and it was FREE!! I couldnt believe how amazing my instructor was at being patient with us and really wanting to teach us how to be great archers.
Are you an Archer at heart? Do you find yourself playing the Artchetype roll of Archer/Assassin/Hunter/Ranger? Then Archery is your thing! And Rancho Park Archery Range is the perfect place to start your Archery Career!I found this little place through Yelp and am absolutely glad to have given it a try. You must take an introductory class before using their open range without guidance. The introductory class was absolutely wonderful and provided me with a brevt of knowledge to guide me through my newfound Archery hobby. The instructor explained the variances between different dominant hand vs dominant eye extravagances.I myself am left eyed but right handed. They quickly instructed me to pull with my left hand which I thought was absurd, but as my arrows all hit the center target upon my first Archery experience, I was happy to take that advice. (I will however be purchasing a Right Hand bow as I feel more comfortable drawing an arrow with my right hand). After multiple attempts and multiple passes, I was ready to begin my Archery journey. They quickly provide you with a pass that explains you went through the introductory course and are ready to start shooting arrows at targets. The Range looks unique and small but definitely provides the brevt of marks and targets to hone in your expertise. Whether you are an avid Archer or a Beginner, Rancho Park Archery Range is the perfect place to take advantage of your Archery skills.I plan to move to Santa Monica, CA when starting my new career, and I have finally found a place to practice my newfound hobby! Come and join me on the weekends!
I love these guys and am so grateful that they provide access to an affordable fun physical activity.
The LA Gun Club is a darn good time. Range time is $18 (+$9 for a second shooter on the lane), gun rentals start at $5, ammo is about $16/magazine, and targets are 45 cents. For 3 of us, the total came out to $115. You save money if you have an even number of people in your group.
Had my introductory course today and it was GREAT!!! A big thanks to all of the instructors (volunteers) who gave up their time to teach us for free! My BF, his bestie, and I all had a wonderful afternoon. This activity is definitely worth your time and I encourage you to donate if you can!
Great atmosphere. Friendly and helpful instructors (during open shooting). Intro class gets filled up quickly, so its a good idea to go early.
Gary is awesome!!!!! Nice guy
Hard to believe that within 40 mins of downtown Los Angeles are 2 archery ranges that are open to the public provided you have your own equipment (Rancho + Woodley in Sherman Oaks). Both are excellent, both offer free beginner safety and shooting lessons and provide free gear! Rancho is newer and have better semi-indoor facilites whereas Woodley is more geared for outdoor practice at all distances upto 90m. Rancho stays open until 10pm, but opens later than Woodley (which opens at or about Sunrise). Both are excellent and I would pay to shoot at either but they are free! I just wish I had discovered archery earlier rather than spending so much time playing pool - a sure sign of a misspent youth.
Loved it, 45 min class and another 45 min practice, enjoyed learning about archery. I would go try it out again.
Nice and clean facilities, also free if you have your own gear.
To prevent misunderstandings, there are NO restrooms in the archery facility, and there were never any MENS and WOMENS signs on any of the doors. The keypad is to change the settings on the timed lock on the gate. Between 8 am and 10 pm daily, just turn the handle and pull to open the gate. Restrooms are planned outside the archery facility, but they have not yet been built. Its a beautiful facility staffed and maintained by volunteers who are passionate about archery.
Newly renovated! Clean and great place to practice.
Great time for the kids
This is where I first learned archery 3 years ago and have been doing it ever since. The best part of this range hands down is the people and the atmosphere. Its all for fun and having a good time and enjoying yourself, while doing a cool fun activity. Unfortunately it has been closed for over 2 years due to delays in construction, and we are patiently waiting for it to open to its brand new rennovated state.
The overall design of the building is awful when a recurve bow attempting to shoot the long distance portions of the field such as 50m and 40m, plus we feel that the walking space is useless and we can fit in distances like 60m and 70m. Because of this, I chose to shoot at Woodley Avenue Park instead of here even though I live 2 minutes away.
I had a really good time.
Not in favor of a single use taking over a big area that was formerly multi-use. The public was PROMISED use of this facilitys public restrooms as a condition of construction. Now, the facility is locked by a key pad entrance AND we have been told there are no restrooms in the facility. This is a LIE. There were signs on their restroom doors saying MENS and WOMENS but they have been removed (how long do they think anyone will be fooled?). This is a disgrace. Impropriety looms large. #falsepoos
Got there with a friend on Saturday morning around 9:30am ish and the 11am class was already full. We were told that the class filled up by7am! Bummed :( Looks like a really cool place though--Update: organized a trip with Pepperdine and took a group of students to the range. Great instructors and atmosphere!
