The exhibits rotates maybe 3-5 times/year. The emphasis is on local history and talent. One of the big draws for all ages is the wonderful miniature working display of old Los Altos with lights, bells, whistles and the long lost train that traveled through town twice a day
Los Altos was created to support Southern Pacific Railroad. this historical museum is good place to get familiar with past Los Altos as railroad town. main Exhibition is located on the second floor, where first floor is used for special exhibitions. Museum has good backyard that is popular place for weddings.
We walked to the Los Altos History Museum for a visit one afternoon. Our four year old granddaughter liked the exhibits and had a great time exploring. It was a nice way to spend an hour.
Great revolving exhibits on local people. Discover what Los Altos was like before it became part of Silicon Valley. Model train upstairs. Wonderful place to take children.
Besides the excellent museum exhibits you should go on a day when the house is open. The house is furnish with a variety of items which adds to an understanding of the time period.
Twice yearly new exhibits and on the upper floor a brief history of the Los Altos area. Its great for little kids that love trains - they have a model train upstairs that runs on the push of a button.
The Kiwanis Club of Los Altos had a major event there on Sunday evening. We were supplied with tables chairs and tableclothes! The director Elizabeth provided us with all the supplied we needed! It was a big success! A great time was had by all. I would suggest renting this establishment any day. Thanks Elizabeth!
A wonderful local resource. Well done, thoughtful exhibits that change frequently. Lots of special programs. Friendly staff!
Very nice small town history museum. Great diorama plus costumes for children to dress up in. There is an open air museum at the back featuring agricultural implements as well as the original farm buildings (they grew apricots). The farmhouse can be visited on certain days of the week..
What a great find! Enthusiastic welcoming docents. Fascinating exhibits. Something for every age to enjoy. Excellent displays explaining the history of Los Altos. And wonderful to have a tour of the house. We will be back. Cant recommend it enough!
Got to take the kids to see the history of Los Altos from the beginning. They loved the diarama of Los Altos in 1932 with working model trains
The staff are always so kind!
Not much of a museum, but one hell of an event venue if you can be there on a nice summer day. Right next to downtown Los Altos as well, if you need a little more to do/to kill some time before or after your event.
Cute little museum with just enough stuff for everyone. If you love los Altos, this place is definitely worth checking out. Give your donations to something worth preserving instead of handing out cash to the bums begging on El camino. Support your local teens and volunteers by giving a small contribution here instead.
Excellent Emergency preparedness demos
A very nice local history museum, superior to other local history museums in the area. Kids will like the train station diorama on the upper floor and some hands on exhibits. The bottom floor has rotating exhibits.
Watched an outdoor movie on a beautiful night.
Nice place to visit and see lots of good things there. It has a lot of amazing features and lots of nice furniture..i only learned more about history and where we came from and where my great grandmother came from. Had a blast visting the history museum!
I am a wedding planner who had a wedding here. This is a gorgeous place for an ideal wedding. All of our guests had an incredible experience here. The romantic ambiance, the tasty food and excellent services contributed to our perfect wedding! Highly recommend!!
A great little treat. We used to bring our toddler daughter here to wander about and discover. She used to like to watch the train and so did I. It was great when they had the train show here too.It is small and manageable for a little tike.
Very down-home and modern museum referencing the various history of the Los Altos area. Lots of great events held here
The best thing they have is the train model upstairs and the recreation of Californio people dwellings. Great small museum to go with children.
If you are interested in what happened in Silicon Valley before tech came to town, this is a very interesting snapshot of life
They have beautiful weddings here done by greenfish catering.
Outstanding exhibit of history of the Eichler homes from the 1950s era now on display at this little, hidden gem of a museum
