Discovered this place through Groupon... I highly recommend it. Very fun experience!!! We were lucky to have coach Collin teach us the basics. He was so nice and patient. Excellent activity and amazing customer service. Definitely coming back in the future :)

A great time! High energy, adrenaline rushing fun with friends.

I hosted my fiances 30th birthday party here and had a great time. There were a couple of minor issues (poor lighting in the parking lot, delay in checking in) but nothing that ruined our fun. The only reason I gave 4 stars is because even though the venue was packed on a Saturday night, there was only one employee working. He did a good job of trying to attend to everyone while also signing people in simultaneously, but I think there should be more than one person there on a busy Saturday night. He made up for it by giving us some extra play time. Ill definitely recommend this place to my friends.

This was my first axe throwing experience and I really did enjoy it. The only complaint that I have is that there aren’t any windows at the location for fresh air (especially during COVID). It was extremely hot inside and smelled like wood. I think if they had some fans or some type of air circulation we would have enjoyed it more.

This place was awesome. It was an amazing experience! We were a group of 6 and the instructor took his time explaining how to throw the ax and the safety protocols. Truly recommend this place! We are definitely coming back!

This place is great! Adrian is awesome! We were first time axe throwers and he showed us the ropes and continued to check in on us. The facility is very clean and they did a good job keeping all parties socially distant. Highly recommend!

My wife and I went here to do something different for date night and had a great time. Our coach, Adrian, did a great job teaching us the basics of axe throwing before letting us . I have been to other axe throwing places that squeeze parties together, but thankfully thats not the case at Axeplosion. We had a blast and will definitely be back!

First time tonight!!! The guys were super friendly & helpful. The coach gave us a 5 min lesson. Then he watched each of us throw. If we needed help or a few tips, he was willing to help. This was so much fun. We are definitely going against.

My family and I had a great time! I do think they could have it look a little more clean and organized...Perhaps print out the prices for the drinks instead of hand written some details like this will improve the environment. Also, they could offer merchandise like shirts etc and offer to take photos of the groups. I can imagine creative ways for marketing.

The prices are great and the experience is so fun. They even have group rates for larger parties or work events. Id also like to point out that their music choice of the day was spot on; who doesnt want to throw axes and sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody? 10/10, will definitely be back!

The instructor was great and explained proper way. It is Byob for wine and beer. Fun time throwing axes and an area to gather and mingle.

Amazing place! I put together an event for my boyfriends birthday with 10 of us. We all were able to share two ranges and throw plenty of axes in an hour. Adrian was nice and very helpful for first timers. Would definitely recommend and will absolutely be back.

So much fun! I took my 13 year old son and we had a blast! The staff was super friendly and encouraging. They were there to help if we were struggling. Instructor James was great working with my son.They have comfy couches and sodas/water to purchase in their lounge area, perfect if you need to take a breather.Just know ahead of time, by its very nature, it is a loud environment, but totally worth the experience!

We went here for a birthday party and had a blast. A little pricey but we had 2 hours of fun with different games they teach you. The staff was helpful and energetic.. Plus you can B.Y.O.B.

Horrible experience with this company. When I booked back in Dec they told me that everyone can use the living social deal. Last week when I called to confirm they said that was incorrect and that only one per lane could be used. They told me it stated that on the deal which it clearly did not. Three days before our reservation they cancelled our booking due to overbooking!! I recommend you use a different company. They clearly cant be trusted. I would give zero stars if I could.

This place will offer their assistance time and time again to ensure the most knowledgeable and fruitful experience at their facilities.Are you worried about safety!? Worry no further! Follow the system they have in place and there will be no issues on the fun or safety front.Overall, the best experience Ive had in the axe throwing business as far as customer service, space provided, and sportsmanship!

A lot of fun. Place could be a little larger so that spectators could sit and watch from behind the throwers without constantly being in the way. Other than that suggestion, we had a great experience.

Hysterical and fun!! Need some improvements ... one guy Running the whole place but luckily he was pretty efficient and our group was early. We had a blast. I think it isnt very safe.One station didnt have a wall behind it which seems so unsafe. But it passed city ordinance. It really takes skill and we had a blast learning. The boards arent very good quality with knots that, if you hit them, are really hard and deflect the axe. But it was just for fun. So who cares. And also I was really not that good. The guy, the only employee there came back around 30 minutes before we were done and helped us get better. We needed him earlier. The session is 90 minutes! Still we had a blast and will do it again. Definitely stay behind the lines. You CAN get hurt.

A great way to spend an afternoon, perfect for two or more. I went with my wife and we had such a great time. The staff was helpful and really made us feel welcome and did a great job of showing us how to throw and enjoy our time.

This was an excellent experience and a great way to celebrate my wifes birthday. It is a ton of fun and the time flies by. The staff is excellent and the coaches do a great job of helping you improve throughout your session. Book at least 1.5 hr for your first visit. Time flies by!When I booked, I didnt see the policy for large groups so I booked two ranges for a total of 10 people (this should have been booked as a 2 hr event). The manager let me keep my reservation and when we arrived he even shuffled reservations around so that our group was next to each other and not split up. Trust me though, if you have a group, book the event. You will want all 2 hours. We only booked for an hour and everyone agreed that it went by really quick and we would have gladly kept throwing for another 30 min to an hour.Thanks Axeplosion! Well be back.

It was a fun place. I went there with my coworkers and had fun. Its good for small groups or team building. They give you proper instructions about how to throw the axe properly. They come in between to ask if everything is going fine. Nice people. You have to sign a waiver before going in. Overall a fun evening with fun people.

We had a great ladies night. It was fun to watch the pros do it. And they gave us great tips. They allowed the group to bring in food. We didn’t feel rushed. I highly recommend it

The experience, or should I say axeperience, is a wonderful deviation to the typical date night affair. The staff is friendly and safety oriented but are not smothering, a rare combo. The different game styles you can play is near endless, darts, battle shots, horse, etc but with axes. Overall this is a fun way and place to spend time with friends and loved ones.

Went here for date night tonight. It was really quiet early in the evening. I was fine with that! We had a great time throwing and the staff was fantastic.

I wouldnt even give it one star, however I cant do that. Ive been to the Lombard location several times and have always been pleased, However that was not the case this time. Upon arrival we were told that everyone in the group needed to redo the waivers, then was told that we all have to share 1 lane (1 board) when I had made a reservation for a range (2 boards), after that we waited over 20 minutes past our start time and shared the range with a large group 12+people, then got our time cut short loosing 20 minutes. The place was way over crowded and definitely not safe. Had several close calls with axes. Will not be returning anytime soon to this location.

This was a super fun! My husband and I got a quick lesson and then competed against each other. We were there early in the day on a weekday so it wasnt crowded. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had lots of fun!

Lanes tight to the point of not feeling safe, overbooked the amount of players allowed in the little spaces, while leaving many lanes unused for later reservations. Space us out! Boards were so shredded we could barely see the paint lines, seemed like a cheaper wood that shredded faster

Incredible place to have fun. First time ever I tried it with my son. I was little bit concern about the safety and was thinking it will be an unruly place. To my surprise, it was actually fun and friendly environment. We had good time as I attempted to compete with my son. I will tell you, but dont tell my son, Whisper: he was better than me

This place was AMAZING, I would write in bigger letters but I cant. Adrian was an awesome coach and the owner was a great guy. The lounge was very spacious and it is BYOB, which we all know is a huge plus. The ONLY thing we would suggest as a change is to have some sort of cable package for the lounge area for people relaxing. This place deserves as many stars as possible. Please let us know when there is a league here.

This was fun! I feel like a real lumberjack after leaving this place. I can also probably use axes to defend myself now if we have some sort of zombie apocalypse.

This place is so wonderful! Adrian was so helpful to my family and made sure everything worked out for us. And Coach Manny was so patient and made our experience so much more fun and enjoyable. We will definitely be back again soon!

Got there at 1215p on a Sunday, the doors were locked and there was nobody there, even tho both the website and the door say they open at noon. Called the phone number on the website and spoke with James, who said that the opening time on the weekends can change based on whether or not they have any bookings. Well that would have been nice to know ahead of time. James thought that they would be open at 1, and told me that they would compensate us for our inconvenience. so we went to have lunch at Basils (which was excellent) while we waited. When we came back around 2 we got a different story from the manager, who said that the person who was supposed to open the place called in sick. In addition the manager did not offer any compensation and did not seem apologetic at all. I had to ask him what he could do for us to make up for it, so he gave us 10% off, which pretty much just covered taxes. The axe throwing itself was fun, but the issue with the opening time and the general attitude of the worker there left a bad taste with us. I would not recommend Axeplosion.

The space looked nice. Friendly staff. They matched our Groupon price, showed us how to sign the waiver and even gave us tips on how to throw the axe. My only complaint was that I heard some bad language.

Fun date night. The cost on the website/when we called to book vs when we got there were different so they should update that. Fun activiy, but could use a little less coaching. Only had 15 minutes with my date to enjoy our time (in a 1 hour time slot) because the coach would not leave us alone. I didnt see him micromanaging the males around our lane.

It was my first time ever throwing axes, and I am definitely going back soon! From the moment I first landed that axe against the wooden board, I knew it’s something that I would enjoy doing competitively or in a team. The employees were very friendly and demonstrated various techniques on how to throw an axe. Would highly recommend to everyone!

This place is fun for about 5 minutes. The hospitality was terrible, it was cramped and hot, and the bathroom was out of tp and paper towels. I paid for an hour and a half and spent more time outside cooling off than anything and left 45 minutes in. Dont waste your money here, home depot is a better option.

Really good group activity. An axe throwing instructor assists everyone to throw the axe properly for the first few throws. I thought it was a good way to start a group outing. Overall a good activity for 2-3 hours.

They seemed to be quite understaffed when we were here. There arent many axe (hatchet) throwing venues in the Chicago area, so we will probably return to this one.Pay per hour, almost: It is $20 per person, per hour. After the demonstration, we arrived at our lane at 1:19, and we were told to wrap it up at 2:03 This means that we did not get the hour we paid for; we were able to throw for 3/4 of the hour we paid for.Coaching: The website states Our experts will be there to help you and keep everyone safe at all times! They had two employees, we received advice once, and axes frequently bounced back past us from our lane and the lane next to us. Not a big deal if you have situation awareness, though.Targets: We were in the first group right when they opened, but they had not changed any of the targets from the previous night. Since you pay per person by the hour, they should change the targets before your hour starts. They interrupted peoples hour to change targets. Unfortunately, they never changed our targets, and one of them had spots so worn that the axe would not stick, and other spots where the axe would stick, but you could see it wiggling after it stuck.Would I come here again: Yes. However, I might explain that I want a full hour of throwing time and request a target change before the hour starts. Seriously, they should have a 1-hour timer at each lane that they start when you start throwing. The timer should be paused if they have to stop you to change the target.

Had soooo much fun! The guys working there are super cool and care about you being safe and having fun. Cant wait to go back! It is empowering and you leave feeling like you leave all your frustrations on the bullseye!!!

Its a building that allows you to throw axes. Small and pretty bare bones (felt a little unsafe if people werent paying attention) but everyones throwing axes so you should all always be paying attention
