Nice museum in a good location. Price is reasonable...but you also have to pay an extra $5 to park. They also charge an extra $2.50 to use a credit card. There are some marvelous displays, but there are also some that are too cluttered, dark, or difficult to read because they are in corners. At the time I visited, 6 different buildings were closed. If they could address some of these issues and possibly create a combo ticket with the parking booth (which takes credit card with no additional charge), this would be a 5-star museum.
This place is so cool. The kids from our school had such a good time. They loved the gold panning, and getting to take home some gold was definitely a highlight. The working blacksmith shop was cool. Thank you so much to Pat for teaching us how it all worked. Getting to make the wall hangers was fun.
I work at this museum. It is the most enjoyable job I have ever had.The grounds make you feel as though you stepped back in time.It is a great place to bring the children to.From an 1800s cook house toPanning for gold there is much here to enjoy.I should also mention that, the museum grounds may be rented for functions and other occasions.Come see us!!
This was a map inside one of the buildings a part of the museum. Beware: this museum is rich in history, has a ton to see, and will take you hours to go through. If you need assistance getting around they have carts available. Its actually very interesting - not dry like some museums Ive been to. Its right outside of the Japanese Garden so this is a place you want to take a day trip (or at least a half day trip) on for sure.
Wonderful place to spend a day. Cool exhibits and larger than expected.
They have a lot of neat stuff there, including a fully functional blacksmith shop from the 1800s. My daughter and I volunteered for a field trip and actually took a class to teach the children how to blacksmith hands on. It was a lot of fun. The kids enjoyed it also...I have to thank the nice man that took his time to come and give us an extra lesson just because we asked him to and for what he taught us as it makes me proud to say yes I am a blacksmith.
We went to the festival of trees, which was a blast. All the kids loved it (from 2 to 10) and my husband and I had fun too. I have never been there when there was not a special event going on, but there is a working blacksmith forge, the docents are friendly and knowledgeable, and there are plenty of placards to explain what you are seeing. It is a decidedly local museum and probably appeals more to those who like agricultural history than to the general public, but it is well worth a visit.
My daughter and I loved it. I made the mistake of arriving hour before it closed, wish they would have hinted around but oh well. Definitely going back soon since there was more to see.
Absolutely breathtaking mix or art, vintage agricultural equipment and tractors. Like walking back in time. We had the whole place to ourselves.
Glad I stopped there. So much to see, not enough time. Need 4 hours minimum. Will stop by again when Im passing thru, oh, what a beautiful park setting it is in. Buy a picnic sandwich and soda b4 you arrive and enjoy the beautiful huge park. Pioneers had it tough. They took the arrows so to say, their grandchildren had it much better.
Great volunteers almost all retired seniors, fun seasonal activities, great place to spend a couple hours
Nice piece of history good place to go especially around Christmas time in the holidays
Very interesting place for history buffs.
Great experience! You get to see the little school and hear from people the story behind it, also the gold panning area and the other parts of the museum incredible!
Nice place to visit with the family. Larger than expected but some of the exibites need a little more work.
If youre from the area buy a membership then you can get in the park and museum free all year! Its a great deal!
The park itself is very beautiful to have a picnic and travel with family there are many areas in the park t go to and just take a break and relax very positive vibes and just a beautiful area
Great hidden treat for my grandkid
My first experience with the San Joaquin County Assessors office in Stockton was disappointing indeed. It operates like a big-city, left-wing, unionized bureaucracy. It seems like Less is More should be their motto, or better yet how about, I already got your money, dude!! I called and tried to get some help on a routine matter and was routed through an intricate telephonic labyrinth that took about ten minutes of my time and ended with a system disconnection. I guess all the money went to the build the Stockton Assessors new office space because it didnt seem like there was any money left over for a proper staff. So Stockton.
There are many artifacts related the agriculture and colonization of the County and the grounds are beautiful..
Fascinating museum and quite educational
Great....
