Sneaky stuff. I had been there before and I missed 90 percent of it. They have a 20 min. video that explains why they left Russia. In it is a picture of the Havelock Shops in a building where they were constructing train steam engines. I lived across from there for 34 years and I had not seen that picture before. Most of the displays are on the second floor of the main building. In the basement is a research library. In the back are several more buildings. Unfortunately they are seasonly closed until April. There is a chapel, general store, blacksmith shop and a couple more buildings.
Thankful this place exists. Its not just for old people, I never realized what this place was and always chuckled at the sign, but then I realized after doing an ancestry DNA test I had family that came from the Volga River area.
This place is very informative and educational. Their period buildings are my favorite part. I would caution it’s definitely designed for an older audience.
OK, who even knew that Germans From Russia was even a Thing?? Much less that they even have their own museum?! Well, if my own grandfather had not actually been one, and a homesteading immigrant to boot, I would be included among the vast number of ignoranti myself. Stop in and give this delightful little tribute to an obscure but interesting historical niche a visit and then head down to Beatrice to the Homestead Monument for broader context.
Rich in history. Germans from Russia that immigrated here to Lincoln. They have artifacts, instruments and a blacksmith shop, a church. Even a store, & outbuildings. Quite unique. My ancestors are from Prussia so I may be a little bias.
Visited the open house. Great history. Very friendly people.
Very giod place
Librarian is super helpful. They have great resources, especially if you are researching Germans from the Volga area of South Russia. Definitely worth membership.
Never been there, just another Google goof.
AHSGR offers a great museum tour and has a wonderful library (with an awesome librarian!) to research Germans from Russia. Fantastic collection of documents for Volga German genealogy.
Loved this little jewel of a museum. The film at the beginning was very informative. Plan on visiting again soon
Very interesting and a lot of history
It was super cool and fascinating to learn about our heritage. I highly recommend it to all that are looking to learn more about their family’s past.
Great place to tour and spend time learning about Germans from Russia history.
Neat place. Happened to see a sign when we were driving around and stopped by. Learned something new. Worth a visit.
A great historical record of Germans from Russia at this site. The people were very helpful and knowledgeable about this part of our families history.
Lots of neat stuff.
Really a interesting place to visit.
Went during off season. All outbuildings were closed and the fee was a bit high just to watch a 15 minute video and tour the main and upstairs of the facility.
The story why it exists is pretty cool. Very welcoming to all who visit. You leave with a smile and an understanding of the German s from Russia
Great story immigrants
Interesting especially for people with some German and Russian roots

My relatives came from Dinkle, Russia. They were Germans that migrated to Russia during Catherine the Greats Reign.
