I just love the quite and solitude that exist @ this Park. I have been going there for over 20 yrs.
I used to go there when I was a little boy with my parents. And now that I am 46 Im still going there I have seen many of changes to the place. I was there yesterday and had lunch with my four-year-old daughter and then let her swim.
A hidden gem!It has parking and is nestled in a safe neighborhood.A couple people were fishing, but the scenery is very nice, and it is extremely peaceful. There are Manatees in the area during the winter, and you might be able to catch a glimpse of them. The playground is small, but uncrowded. I would recommend this park for a peaceful afternoon.
The coolest park That nobody knows about. Kind of tricky to get to . No bathrooms and limited parking .
Its a nice little spot along the intracoastal, but the facilities are limited. Theres a small playground but its really only good for toddlers. Be sure to get there before dark because they lock the park up at dusk.
Beautiful park well maintained by the city of lighthouse point public
I do paddleboard lessons here its a perfect place to learn!
Great place to take the family...off the beaten path
Beautiful neighborhood park on the intercoastal but no bathroom facilities
Its just peaceful also beautiful
Waterfront, intercoastal, small park. Some playground equipment. Limited parking.
I love the food from this place ..
The best kept secret in broward county
After a disappointing visit to The Exchange Club Park I visited DeGroff Park at the suggestion of Stephen S. Thank you so much Stephen for telling me about this gem. Located a few miles north of the Exchange Club and also located on the Intracoastal, Degroff is a beautiful example of what a Intracoastal park should look like. Degroff was land that was once owned by FIND, Florida Inland Navigation District . They use the land along the Intracoastal for holding material that they dredge from the waterway. They still own the Exchange Club Park and have recently leveled it. Broward County however bought DeGroff from them with funds from the 2000 Safe Parks and Land Preservation Bond in order to preserve more green space. Lighthouse Point acquired the land in 2003 from the county in exchange for removing the invasive species of plants. The park was designated a passive park which means that no changes can be made that will affect the natural habitat and it must remain suitable for fish, plants, and wildlife. Some residents in the area would like the park to be used for additional uses such as a dog park but the Broward County Board of County Commissioners would have to approve any changes in use. I like the park as it is in its natural state. The parking area is much smaller than the Exchange Club. There were only a few spots at most outside a fence but it seemed adequate for a neighborhood park where most people come by foot. The park itself is beautiful. What a difference it makes when FIND does not own the land. The park is filled with lovely native trees. There is a playground, gazebo, benches, and a walking path. The sandy beach is perfect for launching a paddle board. The benches make for a relaxing spot to watch the boats drift by. Although this is a small park it is very nicely maintained. I love a water front park and this one is exceptionally nice.
I had so much fun here it was wonderful to see the beautiful ships go by in the bows the people were really friendly theyre walking their dogs and beautiful beautiful women and two children and cute dogs and we just had so much fun of us over the holiday spirit everybody was in such a great mood laughing and talking and then people were swimming and kayaking and I saw a bunch of people Im laying getting a suntan like me and and people were fishing and people were snorkeling scuba diving and its just so much fun
Lovely place to walk through the woods. Fun to watch the boats go by.
Very clean and quiet
This park used to be better before they knocked down all the trees. But it is still a cool park. Its on the water on the intracoastal, which makes it great for watching boats go by. It is the intracoastal so I dont necessarily recommend swimming since its not the cleanest water in the world, but I dont advise against it either. Id be a hypocrite if I did since I grew up going to this park and have swam here many times. There is a playground but overall there isnt a lot to do here.
Super secluded. So relaxing. Fish in private. Love love
Beautiful scenery and quiet
Clean, quiet, beautiful small beach on the intercoastal. Favorite quiet spot.
Amazing park so quiet and best place for meditation and relax the beach got a 300 feet and always is empty
Very nice place a lot of shades to kids to play but was suposed to be no dog park but people bring their dogs to poop on the park and the playground is old and full of rusty ..my impression is that the city dont care about the park just came and pick up the trash on the trash can and done ...
Very pleasant on the intracoastal.
Quaint and off the beaten path
We go by this park on our way to the Hillsboro inlet.
