The Haunted Train was so scary and fun ....Awesome
Loved too see the beautiful fall colors whole enjoying great food and entertainmentLooking forward to doing this again next year! I had heard lots of good things about this from many different people- both guests/passengers and former employees, and they were right.I made my reservations via phone and mailed in a check, since there is an extra charge for using a credit card. The emailed reservation confirmation had good directions and helpful information. Its recommended to arrive at the platform (about 20 minutes from Main St) an hour before departure, and we arrived about a half hour before that. The platform parking lot has a couple port-a-potties, but there is no covered waiting area. (No shade from the sun, no protection from rain.)VIP boarding begins about an hour before departure, followed by standard seating. There is assigned seating on the train (tables are also marked for vegetarians and children), so it takes time to get everyone checked in and seated. But arriving early means you can get settled in, use the bathrooms on the trains (flushing toilets, but no sink with running water- just hand sanitizer in dispensers), check out the small gift shop and enjoy a drink or two.Arriving late means youll be more rushed, and its a bit more cramped as more and more people are seated. Arriving too late means you risk missing the train altogether.Jennifer was a fantastic server! Funny, energetic and attentive. I intend to request her when I go next year with another group of friends. (I dont know that you can request a specific server, but it cant hurt to ask, right?)Our trip was at the of September, so all the yellows, oranges, golds and reds of the foliage were so beautiful! We saw lots of mule deer and pheasants. And locals love to wave at the train as it passes (reminded me of the Alaska Railroad).Portion sizes were good. I ate my salad and then took about half my dinner and my desert home for leftovers. My prime rib was a bit fatty, but my friends werent, so it must have just been the luck of the draw (what I mean is that not all of the plates they serve are fatty). Of course, I also had three margaritas before dinner, so that may have contributed.Drinks were good and very reasonably priced. Tabs are run per reservation, and you pay shortly before returning to the station. The margaritas are a bit light on the alcohol and quite sweet, but its because they are (Im fairly certain) premixed. I suspect most, if not all, of the mixed drinks are premixed to save space. But they have a good selection of beverages to choose from. There is a small gift shop at the back of the train (or front, depending on whether you are on your way out or back). They offer t-shirts, glasses and mugs, hats, and other memorabilia. Past the gift shop are two full large restroom facilities (still no running water though), that are probably three times the size the of small restrooms in each car.The show is quite entertaining, and afterwards there was an entertainer that engaged us in a sing-along while he played his guitar, and has us laughing so hard we didnt care that it was raining and too dark to see anything on the rest of the ride home.Thoroughly enjoyable trip! But next year Im going to book a hotel instead of driving three hours there, spending four hours eating and laughing, then driving three hours home (especially in the rain, and knowing the wildlife is out and about). I would also recommend a visit to the Amish-run Big Sky Grocery in Moore, about 17 miles away, if you have the time on any day but Sunday (they are closed).
We had a fantastic time on the North Pole Adventure! A 90 minute train ride with hot cocoa and games. Staff is very kind and even a visit from Santa! Highly recommend!
This was amazing. These people workef so hard to make an enjoyable experience for every member of our family. We had 23 of them which included several children. The only suggestion I can make is, not for the people of the train, but for the customer...if you dont want to be around children, you should say something at the time of your reservation instead of getting upset at the woman in charge, as to why on earth would you seat older people in a car with children. The train robbers and saloon girls were awesome, definitely a highlight!! Side note....the booking desk does not know you dont like kids unless you say something.
This was super fun. The food was great, it was worth the drive. The staff were friendly and got us what we needed.
Great fun. Fantastic meal. Entertainment for the whole family.
Loved riding on the trestle
