Stayed in the rocky comfort cabin for my sisters wedding weekend. It was a quaint and comfy cabin and was perfect for our needs. Property is gated which made us feel safe and secure in the woods. Great view of the water with fun water activities. Staff was very accommodating and helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable!
This place is so gorgeous and tranquil! Facilities have a very cozy rustic style, great for the mountain environment! Great people too! We greatly enjoyed our weekend stay for a wedding!
We had the most wonderful vacation last week at Brown Mountain Beach Resort! My family of 5 (3 kids ages 8, 11 and 14) stayed in Rocky Comfort and it worked perfectly for us. The kids slept on couches and we made it work. This is traditionally the honeymoon cabin, but was the only one available for the dates we needed and we loved the rustic feel. It is beautiful and cozy and has the best view of Wilson’s creek! We loved how close it was to the beach area and we could keep an eye on the kids from the deck. It was clean and we did not experience any leaks and we had two very big down pours while we were there. We loved spending the day in the creek and coming back to enjoy some relaxing in the hot tub. From the moment we pulled in, we felt welcomed by Ron and we left feeling like part of the Brown Mountain Beach family. We have fallen in love with this beautiful place and can’t wait to come back!
My wife and I had our wedding here and it was AMAZING!!! Even though it rained the ceremony was unbelievable!!! I highly recomend this place to anyone!!!! The staff is amazing and the place is GORGEOUS!
Wow we just had an amazing two days with family and friends. The yurts were a lot of fun for the kids. The beauty is spectacular unlike any other place around. We’ve lived in the Asheville area for 15 years and by far this place will take your breath away.
I love this place but I would suggest adding at least one or two comfortable chairs to the yurts.
From the beginning of finding the place down to the last day there. Responded to emails, gave specific clear instructions and personal touches added to the cabin for our anniversary stay. The cabin was clean neat and inviting. Everything was there that we needed. The owner came down as soon as we got there and asked if everything was okay. He lit the gas logs for us! We had a nice letter congratulating us on our wedding anniversary as well as champagne chilling in the fridge.
Very quaint and beautiful. Cabins are showing their age, but very charming. LOTS to do on a beautiful river!
Gorgeous place to spend with family/friends! Beautiful view. Love it!!
Love this rustic getaway! Came here for a Ladies Retreat with my church. The only downside would be for those who heavily rely on signal and wifi. There is absolutely no signal and only wifi in a couple of common areas and the wifi isnt very reliable either. If youre looking for a true getaway from the world, then this is it! The scenery is amazing and the sound of the rushing water nearby is so soothing. The yurts are very clean and cozy with a microwave and a full size fridge.
We have a beautiful wedding in this place . We love it!!
Where to begin?! My husband and I just got married this past weekend and we could not have asked for a more fun, beautiful, laid back weekend/ wedding day! Kelsey was beyond great in every aspect! From decorations, to scheduling, keeping things on track the day of the wedding and so much more, we could not have had a more relaxing and fun wedding without her and the staff! Thank you to all involved!! Everything exceeded our expectations!! We will be back to visit ️
Peaceful and tranquil, a great place to disconnect and get away.
Great place to hold an event, stay all weekend in cabin or yurts on the water with great people!
From the moment we got to our rental Rocky Comfort, it was a disaster! Leaks, floodings every morning in the kitchen, broken toilets, bed bug bites all over, only 1 set of blanket was provided for a reservation of 4 people!! No one available to assist even though the welcome paper stated someone is always at the pavilion, NOT TRUE!For ever $700 I expected NO FLOODING IN THE KITCHEN, WORKING TOILET, NO BED BUGS, BLANKETS FOR 4, someone on site AS THE PAPER STATED to assist with the issues !! And I don’t know call me crazy, but that’s just the basics of needs?! Never again will I ever ever go to BMR! $700+ was not worth a single penny!
Was recently there for a wedding. Loved it! A rustic resort way out in the mountains with a breath taking view from the beach. It’s not a modern facility, it was built during the prohibition but it’s well maintained. No Verizon signal but the cabins and public areas have WiFi. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for weddings, receptions, family reunions or just want to get away from pressures of modern life.
I just got married here and my husband and I had the best time! Countless people said it was the prettiest wedding venue theyd ever been to. Kelsey did planning for us and she was amazing! Cant speak highly of her enough! Ron was wonderful too. If you want a unique, nature focused and relaxing wedding this is the place!
Wonderful place for a retreat from the busy life. Beautiful views of the river from every cabin, the staff is very friendly and accommodating to all the guests. Highly recommend, and we will be returning for a get away soon!
Was a great quiet setting for our maternity pictures. Thinking about staying here in the future for a staycation
Great place. Quiet place relaxing
My now husband and I rented Brown Mountain Beach Resort for our wedding weekend. Brides and Grooms to be, if you are looking for a venue to have an amazing fun filled weekend of being outdoors, on a river with your loved ones, look no further. I highly recommend having your wedding here. We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding weekend. Kelsey, was hands down the best wedding planner we could have asked for. Not only was she my wedding planner but I feel we became friends. She really listened and understood our vision. We have been working with her for over a year planning our wedding and she was always available to answer any questions or concerns we. She was a gem! Very personable and Kelsey didn’t make it seem like a job, because it’s clear this is her passion. She genuinely cares and wants you to have the best time of your life!
Great venue for weddings, rehearsal parties or any other special occasion. Beautiful scenery and attentive staff. Great place to experience the mountains of North Carolina.
Great staff, clean facilities, nice Creek frontage
Could not have asked for a better venue to have my wedding at! The staff are top notch and literally take care of everything. All I had to do was drop off my decorations, and drinks and they did everything else while I relaxed in the hot tub for hours. If you dont want to worry about anything on your wedding day, then this is the place to go! Whats even better is they moved the drinks down to the beach after the reception so that you can sit by the fire and have drinks on the beach. Wow! What a great staff! What a great scenery! Just great everything! I cannot say enough about this place! I love it sooo much! Wonderful job to Rob, Kelsey, and all the staff at Brown Mountain Beach Resort!
A little piece of heaven here on Earth. Great accommodations and extremely courteous staff.
I stayed here for my sisters wedding and it was amazing. The cottage like room had a vintage look and had a beautiful overlook view of the Wilsons creek river! I would recommend this place to anyone!
Our son was married here last weekend and it was so beautiful and peaceful. Right on the water. They had everything you could need (food not included) and were excellent with set up and execution. The owners were fantastic! I wanted to stay forever!
Out of all the places Ive ever been to In My Life, this is my favorite place. The beauty here is amazing. Its like stepping into another world. As you pulled me in through the main entrance oh, its like all of your stress and problems just totally leave your mind in your left in awe. Also the man that makes this place tick, his name is Ron and you could not ask for a more friendly and hospitable person. If only I could talk him into selling me one of those cabins oh, I would live there forever and never leave.
Excellent wedding venue. On site cabins. The staff were really attentive. Location is gorgeous.
Ive been going to the river access spots for decades. Besides the occasional soccer dad who wants to tell strangers where they are allowed to swim and xenophobe families trying to shame foreigners and immigrants its one of the best spots in the US.. There has always been a light problem with litter bugs but its no one group; it was going on back in the eighties and nineties too..
Beautiful family atmosphere. Clean beach, beautiful weddings have taken place here. The reception hall has been restored, and absolutely beautiful. Rentals for family weekend getaways.
Beautiful. Relaxing. Thank you, Ron and Wendy for making our day so incredibly special!!!
Can I just say I was the luckiest girl to find this place to host my small wedding! The kicker other than the stunning views was the owners and their daughter. I’m forever in your debt for all of you help with our Wedding! We truly had the best wedding ever! We truly enjoyed ourselves and didn’t have to worry about a thing. Kelsey followed up with me regularly and make sure she had my vision layer out. Thank you for the bottom of my heart all the work you put into our wedding! Everything was perfect and everyone had a blast! Will definitely come back to visit y’all! Best Gem in the North Carolina Mountains!
Theres something about the mountains in North Carolina and the people in general. From the airport, to the car rental, to the gas stations, to the grocery stores, to the Fantastic drive up the Brown Mountain to this place its something you wont forget. Ron and Wendy are the hardest working most fantastic people I can say Ive met in a long time. We stayed in a world-class yurt with all the amenities and a gorgeous deck including hot tub overlooking a fantastic river. If you want an amazing place way off the beaten path for a wedding there is no other. Built during prohibition, the rich history of alcoholic ghosts entertain all day long. And get this because of several notifications to my bank that I was traveling there, Scotiabank still wouldnt accept my credit card. Ron and Wendy made that right. OH yall will get it to me I trust that where else can you find that kind of amazing service?
Great place for a wedding
Brown Mountain Beach Resort went above and beyond our expectations! The view is gorgeous, whether youre standing on the beach, floating down the river, or sitting on the deck of your cabin. The venue offers such a unique experience where you can bring friends and family together for a whole weekend of celebration and fun, making your memories stretch longer and those special moments more plentiful. Not only that, but the family and staff of Brown Mountain blew us away with their acute attention to detail, constant communication, and genuine thoughtfulness for our every need. Kelsey thought of everything I hadnt even considered and was always on hand to offer a recommendation and point us to the best vendors. In addition to her helpfulness while planning, she took all the worries and headaches of a wedding completely away so that we could just relax and enjoy ourselves for the entire weekend. Our experience could not have been more special and its all thanks to Brown Mountain and the experience theyve built.
Beautiful and excellent river
The scenery, the hospitality, and the food all was amazing. Great venue
Ron and Kelsey are amazing selfless individuals who have infused the beautiful property they own with the spirit of Christ. We were blessed to be able to have our wedding there- it was perfect. perfect.
Beautiful river /beach wedding spot. Perfect amount of rustic funkiness.
Very cool. Off the grid to a degree. WiFi but very relaxing. Hot tubs and genuine mountain feel.
The setting of Brown Mountain Beach Resort is a serene and scenic old campground, retrofitted with yurts and refurbished original site cabins. Nestled against the backdrop of the Pisgah National Forest, BMBR lay along the winding creek bed of Wilson Creek Gorge (although it resembles more of a river than a creek) endowing those lucky enough to witness the creek and Pisgah timberline with pure serenity. All our guests quickly found themselves right at home, with all accommodations having kitchenettes and full baths, most cabins having their hot tubs overlooking the lazily flowing creek, comfortable beds, and soft linens, as well as clean and tidy confines. Each cabin and yurt are unique; bespoke décor paying homage to local culture and heritage along with easy access to every part of the resort and its features, no matter the location of the accommodation on the property. The staff of Brown Mountain Beach Resort is reminiscent of your favorite relatives you don’t often get to visit. The proprietor of the resort, Ron, is a genuine soul who wants nothing more than to share the majesty, that is his little slice of heaven, with those who find it. Ron’s daughter, Kelsey, who has begun to take the operational reigns of the resort, mirrors her father’s confidence, work ethic, and honest personality. Her and Ron’s shared vision being evident in the continuing improvements to the resort, which were made in the year between our reservation being set and the wedding weekend itself.Friday, our guests began to arrive, as my wife and I decorated for the coming celebration. The check-in process was relatively laissez-faire and to each their own, as our guests trickled in throughout the day. That evening, BMBR prepared a delightful supper of wood-fired pizza, as our guests and ourselves all enjoyed one another’s company. We were served beer and wine by the A+ staff of ____, hired out by BMBR. The revelry continued well into the evening as guests were able to come and go at their leisure.Saturday was filled with food and fun in the sun (and some nursing of hangovers) as our guests were left to their own devices. Some fished and kayaked while others went on hikes, some helped my wife and I tie together some final decorating details, while others enjoyed being outside, away from cell phone service with an endless supply of spirits. Our ceremony was everything we could have dreamt of and more, the weather cooperated for our outdoor ceremony on the beach, in the mountains (how spectacular is that?). Our vendors, who were primarily recommended by BMBR, all worked in perfect harmony, and the evenings festivities went off without a hitch. Our reception was held in the Rock Pavilion, followed by cocktails and live entertainment in the speakeasy. Our celebration carried well into the night, ending on the beach under the stars, sharing stories and smoking cigars. In summation, the weekend was absolute perfection, especially given this being a “destination wedding” for most of our guests, my heart hums with happiness just reflecting on it all.Sunday check out was late enough for a leisurely pace, following breakfast in the Rock Pavilion. Our guests, well-fed and thoroughly tuckered out after a weekend of matrimonial celebration, went along their merry way, and we followed right behind. All told, BMBR was the perfect location for our wedding, my wife even declared so in her vows. While the rural site is not the setting for everyone’s tastes and vision for their wedding, BMBR knows what they have and shares it with pride and grace not found with corporate venues and larger establishments. Just as with any event which spans many days involving a multitude of people, hiccups happened, but where adeptly overcame and managed. My wife and I, while we are joyous to be done with the preparation and planning of the event, have exchanged a piece of our heart and soul with the McDaniel family, who so graciously share their little corner of the world with love and care.
This place was amazing. Beautiful Scenery. Very clean.
Beautiful yurts and an amazing staff!!!
Beautiful venue and the owner is fantastic. Very personable people and very helpful.
Beautiful here!!
This was an amazing place. I want to go back again! Best wedding venue.
Love brown mountain and the trails and the creek so peaceful
It was a beautiful location, the only sounds were nature and there river right outside the cabin. They had the beach wash away from the heavy rains of hurricane Michael, but they had it back less than two weeks later for the wedding I attended Sunday 8/21/18. Color me impressed.
Owner was so helpful and down to earth. I had a bunch of teens camping. I like that there was no WiFi or cell phone reception. The kids actually talked to each other.
BMBR was lovely! We got married there and then stayed in the Honeymoon cottage. It was beautiful and very romantic.
Theres not a better place to be!! They did a fabulous job on our sons and new daughters wedding. Kelsey is awesome!! Couldnt have asked for a better experience. Miss being there already.
What an amazing find! I DJd a wedding there recently and LOVED it. Theres a real beach with sand, a nice deck overlooking the river for ceremonies, a cocktail hour bar with a speakeasy vibe downstairs, and an excellent banquet hall for dinner and the reception. Julie, the owner and her staff were super helpful and attentive throughout setup and the event. They really seemed to care about the couple and their guests. I Highly Recommend!
My sister will be having her wedding her next year. We stopped by to ask additional questions and take more pictures. The gentleman who runs the place was very accommodating and very nice. Beautiful place!
Amazing venue and wonderful people to work with for a wedding!
Camping Beach resort. There are several yurts and cabins to rent out. Sure right along the river, they have a tiny beach at the River:s edge. Muddy when it rains. Wasnt really able to explore in any buildings. VE R Y BEAUTIFUL SCENERY.
No sports equipment wearing zombie killers around
Great getaway
It was a beautiful venue for a wedding. The ceremony was beside the river bank. The river was beautiful, with gentle rapids. There was a pretty reception lodge with a bar downstairs for appetizers and drinks. Very rustic sheek. Amazing view of the river from the reception upstairs. It was surrounded by doors that were opened during the reception. No air conditioning in the reception lodge. It was hot in the beginning of September, although large fans helped. We stayed in a fabulous yurt. Large and spacious with attached private bathroom and shower. Full size refrigerator and freezer. Small microwave and a few dishes were provided. It had a deck with a private hot tub and gas grill. The air conditioner worked very well in the yurt. There was a deck area outside the reception lodge used for dancing. Later guests floated on river in rafts, and had a bon fire at night. It was a really fun wedding.
We visited in our antique cars. Everyone was very friendly. I learned what a Yurt is. The cabins are beautiful. This place is an awesome place for a wedding.
Went to BMBR to celebrate the marriage of my sister Kristen and her wife Dana...what an amazing place! There is something beautiful about putting down the electronics and enjoying a great venue...wonderfully helpful owners...and the love of family and friends. I didnt touch my phone other than to take pictures for 4 days and it was GREAT! Local hiking and tubing, a deep swimming hole with cool mountain water, and plenty of time to kick off your shoes in the hot tubs at the cabins and yurts...I wanna go back TODAY!The owners and staff made sure we had everything we needed to cook and host 80 wedding guests, attended to any small issues we came across, and even had a good story or 2 to share about the area and how BMBR has changed over the years.
This place is wonderful! Its remote, beautiful, and authentic. We had such a wonderful time, including our two dogs. The family running the place is friendly, helpful and inviting. The scenery is gorgeous and never ending. We have nothing bad to say about it!
Great place to go swimming. Remote and poor signal for phones even with Verizon. This place will get busy during weekends and holidays during summer/warm months.
Beautiful setting. Really enjoyed Joseph and Leah Byrds wedding
We came for a wedding event. This is an outstanding venue with views, things to do, and organized well. We stayed in our RB, but there are cabins and soon-to-be yurts. This place is beautiful!
I feel in love with the property the moment I arrived. My husband I just got married here last weekend. It was nothing short of amazing. The property has everything you could possibly imagine! Julie really made our visit memorable in so many ways. She will do anything to try and make things as perfect as possible for your stay, including entertaining the guests :). We hope to return for anniversaries and family gatherings in the near future. Ron, Wendy and Julie really make you feel at home and as if you are family with them while on the property. I can not wait to come back here and all of my guests feel the same!
Beautiful venue right on the river. Especially enjoyed the Speakeasy area, very cool!
Nice place, nice people, excellent WiFi
Amazing Getaway!
We spent a week in March 2015 and it was just as memorable as our first visit last year. Ron and his wife are wonderful people. We booked the hiding place...love the tranquil back patio. Til next time!!
Very nice place to stay or have a event they have camping and yurts you can also stay in
I was only there for a brief event but it seemed like a nice place.
Very nice place.
Beautiful surroundings and top-notch service. Couldnt ask for a better place to stay and have my cousins wedding.
Nicest staff in the world.
My daughter just got married at BMBR over the weekend, and I could not have been more thankful for the way Kelsey, Ron, and their crew handled everything! Things could have gone very, very wrong without them. The person we hired as a wedding coordinator did nothing that we paid her to do the entire time leading up to the wedding day. Thank God that Kelsey and Ron at BMBR stepped up when they did. With just two weeks to go, Kelsey performed the duties of wedding coordinator and she was absolutely brilliant. Not only did BMBR understand our unfortunate situation with the previous wedding coordinator, but they did everything we asked them to do - and some things that we didnt know to ask - just to ensure that our daughter had her dream wedding. For example, our daughter wanted wild flowers for her wedding. However, when the flowers we ordered for the wedding arrived (just 2 days before the event), they were wilted and unusable. To me, they looked as though they were either dead or dying. Rather than have us stress and scramble to find another florist at an additional cost, Kelsey and BMBR awoke at 4:00am the next day and personally went out to hand-pick wild flowers for our daughter, and purchased others from local florists at no additional cost to us. Then, Kelsey came to work at BMBR and created some of the most beautiful flower arrangements for the bride, her bridesmaids, and the reception tables that I have ever seen.I could go on and on about BMBR and how happy I am that we chose to have the wedding there, but the bottom line is this: If your son or daughter is getting married, I highly recommend that you use BMBR as the venue. The only reason I gave them 5-stars is because the rating system does not allow for more than that. Their focus is on the happiness of the bride and groom, their families, and guests. Thanks to them, what could have been a stressful disaster ended up being the most epic wedding I have ever been to. Thanks Ron, Kelsey, and the crew at BMBR for making everything right for my daughter, her husband, and us! You guys were awesome!
Great views and the yerts were interesting
Excellent WiFi, nice venue for wedding
Toured BMBR as a potential wedding weekend venue - the river and reception hall are gorgeous. A very unique and beautiful spot to host your guests.
Nice, rustic place for a wedding, right on the river.
Serenity by the running river. Everything you need. Just bring food for the full kitchen.
Great rustic venue with stunning view of the river
We had a wonderful time at Brown Mountain Beach Resort. Our cottage was beautiful along with the scenery. The staff was wonderful and always helpful. We caught rainbow trout along with bass in the river.
Very beautiful. Will be returning soon.
Stayed The Cabin on the Hill. Cute and rustic. Very clean. Only one thing. Need ceiling fans. Will definitely bring the family.
Brown Mountain Beach Resort is absolutely enchanting! It seems like just yesterday my wife Chelsea and I were meeting with Ron and Julie to discuss potentially having our wedding there. The first thing we noticed was how stunningly beautiful it was. Many other venues seek to artificially create the wonderfully natural look and feel that BMBR so casually possesses. Serene mountains are the backdrop for a series of unique, cozy cottages along the banks of a magnificent river. The second thing we noticed was what genuine and hard-working people lived and worked there. The entire staff is extremely friendly and making sure that you have an enjoyable stay is always their top priority.Roughly one year after that initial meeting, Chelsea and I held our wedding at Brown Mountain Beach Resort. The best way we can describe it now, a month later, is that it feels like a wonderful dream that we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. Our closest family and friends stayed in the cabins from Thursday through Sunday; enjoying terrific weather, hiking on the nearby trails, and rafting up and down the river. We held a rehearsal dinner in the reception hall and Ron was extremely generous in allowing us free rein of the property. The wedding itself was simply perfect! Julie served as our coordinator, transforming into Wonder Woman and turning all of our thoroughly planned details into a living, breathing reality. The resort staff leaped into action as our guests enjoyed a cocktail hour on the outdoor patio. Our ceremony and reception went exactly as we had hoped and imagined! We capped off the evening by roasting s’mores by the river. ;-) Many of our guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to! As for us, we never imagined how relaxing our wedding could be; an ideal getaway and celebration of love with the people we adore. Thank you Brown Mountain Beach Resort for a picture perfect wedding and an unforgettable weekend!
Locally owned great venue for weddings every cabinet is different and unique give us free run of the entire property and do whatever you want to
Very nice, quaint little resort with rustic cabins right on the Johns River.
Fun and relaxing
Did not stay here, they dont even book RV camping anymore! Why even have it on your website and all the pricing! Verry poor management!
Stayed there off season and was the only one there...I am a fly fisher and they were very friendly and I loved the rustic cabin by the water.
A good place to go swimming and camping
Very nice location. Little on the pricey side $55/night to camp.
