Overall seemed like a nice gym. Me and some buddies went to play basketball here and how I understand it now, is that you may only shoot a few baskets without playing actual games on the court due to health guidelines. When I signed in I was told no pickup games with others, which I took as keeping it limited to your own group. Upon getting upstairs to the court we were being told that we could not play any actual games. All of this is fine and a simple misunderstanding, but the manager that helped us with our refunds was very snarky and told us as we were walking out “ask questions next time it’ll save you a lot of time.” She came off as rude and very condescending through it all. Management could use a decent amount of work.
I love the Lenexa Rec Center. Admittedly, I have not used the facility due to the pandemic (trying to be cautious). However, beforehand, I liked to walk the track. There are many types of machines and classes that I look forward to using in the future.
Spent a day at the Rec Center with my daughter and our neighbor. They had a great time playing in the indoor pool area. I love the fact that there are many different aspects to appeal to people of various ages and swim skill level. What I found to be disappointing was that some of the swim area is significantly lower than the rest, and if you have children of different swim skills, you can’t always keep your eyes on multiple parts of the facility because of the way it is set up. The layout made it very difficult to be a supervising adult for two kids at the same time, which is one of the posted rules, that children under 14 cannot swim unsupervised.
Its my go to place to find my happiness! I am staying fit and feeling great!
Best pool in town -- clean, great lifeguard staff, etc.
Amazing complex. I wish there were more of these facilities around in Overland Park and nearby cities.
Joyous experience each day. Incredibly respectful staff. The clientele is especially refined and MANNERLY like Larry.
The Rec Center is a great place to work out. Its always in good condition and clean. It has about everything you need: lifting equipment (both racks and dumbbells), other equipment (treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, stair steppers), indoor running/walking track, lap swimming lanes, gym for shooting hoops, locker room with showers. What really sets the Rec Center apart is its staff. They are always super helpful and friendly. No matter how early you show up in the morning, they always greet you with a smile and a hello or good morning. I really appreciate this.Overall, the Lenexa Rec Center is a great place and a good environment in which to work out.
I just finished taking a small group pickleball lesson with Jeremy. I had played 2-3 times a month for the last 2 years until I recently retired, I am more than a beginner but not quite ready for tournaments. I am, now playing 2-3 times a week and find myself getting better each time. Jeremy worked with 4 of us, giving us pointers and working with us on drills to tweak our level of play. It was the best $25 I spent! I encourage all levels to sign up for one of the M or W hour long lessons being offered the month of February.
We love it! My wife and I joined last fall and we are really enjoying working out there. Very clean and organized.
Nice place to go and swim due to covid nothing else was open inside the center they have reasonable price for the time the pool is open for both non-residents and residents
It’s an amazing place but the gym does not have a lot of equipment to train with.
This place is great! I kids to the open gym in the moring and the splash with me. Both activities are great and reasonably priced at just 2$ a kid!! Parking is free and the place is clean and well staffed
Had a great time here,my grandchildren favorite place
Despite canceling my membership and callin in for a refund for the past 5 months they are still charging me for a membership.
Every nice place, theyre keeping clean
My parents belong and my granddaughters. I took them to go swimming. Love the place its a very nice place. Staff is wonderful and helpful.
Beautiful center with helpful, educated staff. Pool in a variety of ways for a variety of ages to enjoy. Exercise classes, open gyms, and pickleball. Machines in different locations and an inviting walking padded trail.
I highly recommend the limited Pickleball lessons being offered on Monday or Wednesday morning during the month of February. The instructor, Jeremy, will provide warmup/fundamental drills and general strategy to improve your game. Sign up at the front desk and you will learn to love this sport!
Kid Zone - 5 starsStaff is friendly, building is clean and has a lot to do for the kiddos. When it comes to the Weights in the gym there could be more equipment. I feel that the design of the building does NOT support the amount of people lifting weights. Maybe they can build a second building and connect with a catwalk to West. I cant imagine how busy this place will be 5 years down the road especially with how much Lenexa is growing...
We did the $8 day pass to use the pool and it was great! Really good locker rooms for family access and a well kept swimming pool. Had a fantastic time.
Went for a birthday party. Not quite enough time in the room for gifts and cake, but plenty of time for swimming.
The gym and pool are really beautiful! We love coming here with the kiddos. I like that the staff is helpful and how clean the facility is
I was visiting from out of town and took a yoga class here with local family members. What a great facility! Adult classes and workout facility plus class options and play area for the kiddos.
Always clean..
The constant drills are annoying and leaves no room for relaxing
The pool is great, the track is the longest in Kansas City, the staff is very friendly and the equipment is always in great condition. The facility and the locker rooms are also very clean.
This is a beautiful and well designed facility but the pool is way too cold. Our older son is a fish and will happily swim in the Galveston beach in December, but he asked not to do swim lessons here again because of the temperature, and the baby doesnt like the splash area. The therapy pool is a few degrees warmer and feels like a normal pool temperature, but it can get crowded and is much smaller. The slides are fantastic though! Hopefully they can get the temperature thing worked out but for now we limit our visits to the hottest days of summer when we all need a nice cold dunk.
My whole family had so much fun in the indoor pool today! It comes alive at 4 p.m. and its like a water park. Its extremely clean and safely constructed. There are high velocity jets all over this water world. Which means fast water slides and massaging jets. The water is cooler so if you are swimming or working out a lot, it will feel like butter. There are other activities to do here like an indoor park and gyms, I couldnt even get to them. Spend your money here!
This is a nice, well thought out space. Could use some other weight equipment for my liking but they have the essentials, with a pool and walking track. Never been to one here but lots of spaces for kids birthday parties.
Great, friendly staff & clean, efficient facilities
Great family friendly place to exercise and play.
My family and I go here several times a week and we absolutely love it. The place is always clean, and the staff is super friendly. Most employees go out of their way to make us feel welcome. This facility is one of the many reasons that I fell in love with Lenexa and hope it is my home for many years to come. Today, I was injured (I was outside racing with my son post workout, and boy am I clumsy), and the staff wasted no time to help, even engaging my children and making them feel calm. That meant a lot to me. I really appreciate the staff here. Thank you guys!
Such a fantastic community center! Fam loves the pool, gym and common spaces. Way to go city of Lenexa!
Modern facility but with some serious errors in the design and concept. THe pickleball courts downstairs that are available for non members with a reasonable fee, are very congested and with too low roof, not suitable for good players. They have a huge gym in the second floor with ample space that is totally misused with only two volley/basket courts (they could fit at least 4 volleyball courts in that space). But the worst is that their fee system does not work well to have sports in the main gym (volleyball, basketball or even pickle ball) as they require membership or a full day pass, at a non competitive price. Too expensive daily passes (about $10) deter non members from going there for sports, there is no organization (levels) for volleyball or basketball. End result is that the courts are empty most of the time or used almost exclusively for pickleball or shooting hoops. Ping pong only table is at a location (main lobby) that deters any good player from using it and (again) no organized system for its use, hit and miss if children will be playing there. Unfortunate that Lenexa has such nice facilities (Community Center and Rec Center) and people chose to go and play somewhere else (Shawnee, Roeland Park, Olathe, etc.) due to bad or inexistent programs. Quite disappointing.
Very nice state of the art facility
This place and its facilities and its surroundings are, in a word, unbelievable. A true jewel in the new crown of Johnson County.
City Center Is a great environment! Great place to work out or have a event. I love the pool here and the equipment. I have yet to try the chair yoga. I heard it was a nice class.
This place was fantastic! Clean and well laid out with plenty of options. I suggest taking a trip with the family.
This place is amazing, only wish they have a sports/martial arts classes
New and clean! Packed with activities for children, adults and seniors. Very reasonable pricewise and the memberships are really a huge value depending on your needs. ( include unlimited classes, etc.) Fairly decent workout area, plenty of cardio equipment, walking and running track with a view almost every step of the way, filtered water, bathrooms on every floor, commons area with coffee.... Theres too much to list! But bring your own towels. That isnt even a drawback for most people though.
Love the Rec Center, friendly and attentive staff with great facilities. Lifeguards make my family feel safe and at home.
This place is always great! It is always clean. We love swimming here!
Its a beautiful and clean facility with a pool for exercising and fun. The running track provides an excellent view of the surrounding area that includes both a flat running surface or a longer track that includes an incline for more of a challenge. For weight lifters, the equipment is brand-new and there are several trainers available although Ive never used one. There arent as many strength training machines for accessory exercises as some gyms, but there are several benches, two squat racks, and a deadlift platform and plenty of dumb bells.
A first class facility with a great aquatic center; however, I thought the clorene in the air around the pool was a little strong and could have more ventilation.
Love the facility but wish some of machines were alittle more updated like other gyms
Everything is beautiful and nice! The equipment is top notch and varies nicely. The view from the indoor track is gorgeous! The kids center is clean, organized, and the helpers are great! They already know my kids names and were not a number here. We love it.
The pool manages to pack a welcome and creative variety of activities into a moderate sized but very aesthetically pleasing space. Two great slides, a splash park, water basketball, swimming lanes, diving platform, warm pool, climbing wall over deep water, a current channel, and generous activity free water. Lifeguards are vigilant but courteous. Loved it.
Facilities are very good. Generally not too crowded. Excellent staff.
Nice staff, various pools, clean and safe
I have had better times with the children and I at Chuckie Cheese. Absolute madhouse with some very weird staff.
If you Havent played Pickle Ball, coming here is a must! It is a blast! The set up is great with the equipment and track being laid out so nicely. The pool is fun for all ages.
I really like this place. Its still clean and new. The only reason Im not giving it a 5 star is because of the pool temp. We bounce back and forth between the Olathe and Lenexa rec centers and Olathe keeps their pool noticeably warmer. My 4 year old has actually commented on it so It must be significant enough for him to not only remember but acknowledge.
Great new facility with most of what anyone needs to work out. If your a bodybuilder or a workout freak you probably should stay at lifetime, but this will definitely fit the needs of most people. Also the pool area is really great for adults as well as families. Plus the pricing is really affordable.
The staff is very nice and its a great facility
Staff is very nice and helpful
Awesome new community center. City of Lenexa did a great job on that area.
Great place for the family. Awesome indoor pool that is similar to a water park like Great Wolf Lodge. It only gets 4 stars because the weight room is inadequate for serious body building. That said, do yourself a favor and visit. Its great!
Wonderful facility! Everything is new and clean! The people werent too pushy to switch memberships, which was a plus. Oh and the kids love the indoor pool thats basically like an indoor miniature water park with multiple slides, a rock wall climbing thing coming out of the pool, diving board, rapid wave river area, and a play place for the little ones, plus so much more! My only complaint is the rates are ridiculous for a Lenexa resident family membership! But I have always believed you get what you pay for and its a great facility.
Super fun pool area with really great water slides! our family has been 3 times now and really like all it has to offer. The only draw back is the pool area has been really cold every time weve been. the only pool that is enjoyable is the warm pool. we have a 2 1/2 year old and she can only play in the kids area for a few minutes before shivering and turning purple. went to a splash with me event with a friend and her kids and spent more time changing in and out of swimsuits than we did in the pool. they dont even have the warm pool open during that time so kids (and adults) can warm up.
Swim here with kid a lot. Its nice enough.
Love it here!!! Just wish the chlorine wasnt so strong:(
My daughter loves the pool and the family locker rooms are great for changing.
Beautiful facility, 3 floors, water activities, lots of group exercise rooms, vending machines, bathrooms, whole floor of gym equipment. Top floor has a running track along the window wall.
Wow, what a nice facility for kids and adults. Membership is a lot less than our local fitness clubs. The third story indoor track offers great views as well as the indoor pools lazy river. Come check it out, youll like it.
Go 3 s a week. Great help if needed. Very clean! Place for all ages. Your missing the boat if you live in Lenexa and are not using.
Great place for a workout, hoops, swimming, pickleball!! or a run on the indoor track.. great assortment of equipment without being overcrowded or intimidating.
Our kids (3 & 1 y/o) LOVED the pool! Theres also stuff that older kids would enjoy too -- huge slide, lazy river, etc. For parents with little kids, the family changing room area was the best Ive ever seen -- lots of rooms and lockers.I didnt work out, but the fitness center was huge and equipment looked brand new. The track having an incline option (or not) is a nice touch too. There are gazillions of fitness classes too, if thats what your looking for.Wow, Lenexa has a gem here!
This is the nicest rec center I have ever had the opportunity to utilize. A lot of city centers could take a lesson from Lenexas foreplanning. Well done!
Love this place. Very affordable for families, and they have great amenities.
Great rec center. Amazing staff. Only thing that would make it better? Mirrors in that parking garage.
Great place to play and exercise with the whole family. New facility and top-notch new equipment, and the only indoor jogging track Ive seen with built-in elevation changes.
This is a big beautiful place in the center of town. Its a little confusing how to get in the place but once inside everyone was super friendly. We went swimming in the 4 pools. They have a kid play area that goes from 0 to 3 foot deep with playground type equipment. They have a lazy River and lap lane area that is about 4.5 feet deep everywhere. They have a 90 degree warming pool that has a 4 foot bubble seat area to a 6.5 foot swim against the flow deeper spot. The also have 2 three story slides The fourth pool is 13.5 foot deep with a 20+ foot climbing wall plus a 3m platform to jump from. It was super clean and looked very nice.
Everything is brand new, and the view is great from inside. The pool! Oh my gosh, such a nice pool! Love this gym, so happy its done and the price for membership was very reasonable.
Great facility. Activities for the whole family
Great pool, basketball courts, and workout equipment. Plenty of friendly people to play with on the basketball courts and a great track. Just wish it was 24 hrs
Very nicely setup, but the construction all around is a little chaotic. Wonderful pool with two indoor slides, a 3m platform, a climbing wall, lazy river, and a kiddie section to boot.
The water park is amazing! Only wish is the gym would allow Olympic style weightlifting.
Lenexa rec center is perfect for gym and for kids and indoor pool. Everything is new and clean I am really enjoy there with my kids thank you.
Very nice facility. All sorts of classes available even if you arent a memeber of the gym.
New and clean. Friendly staff.
Fun place for family especially in winter time. My kids love the kids zone and the sweet teachers.
Absolutely amazing center. Staff is great. Facility is super. Only suggestion is to increase pool and hot tub temperatures by a few degrees.
Horrible when you go during the summer or on snow days, filled with kids that don’t respect what your doing. I was playing volleyball with my sister and other people and the basketball players came to the volleyball side and started playing basketball in the middle of our game. I told the front desk they didn’t care.
Great pool with slides, climbing wall, and a lazy river.... Small, but a state-of-the-art gym. Lobby with multiple TVs.. Awesome!
Great place to walk on a track, work out on equipment, have kids swim, or enjoy Pickle Ball. If you belong to Silver Sneakers, you can come here.
Brand new facility. Has a great aquatic center and gym. Kids play area is nice.
Really nice community center! Farmers market on Saturdays.
Great place to do a workout. Nice walking track with plenty off exercice equipment.
Awesome place for family! The staff is also awesome!
We loved the open gym for kiddos. The staff is super nice especially the attendant in the gym!
If you have to rent space for anything they will nickel and dime you to death. Staff is incredibly difficult to work with. Really, go elsewhere.
A great place to do work outs and has a nice pool.
What a jewel! New Lenexa rec center. Wow!
This place is awesome!...I especially like the group fitness classes offered here!...Erika and Chad are great instructors!!
