Played a week ago. Fairways were in poor condition and greens had recently been aerated but they still charged 3 figures $$. Staff were friendly except for an older gentleman (starter maybe?) who was rather abrupt when I drove to the driving range in my cart (no signs not to) and mistakenly getting my tee time wrong by 1 minute. A little rude I thought. I wont be in a rush to come back here. I can find better courses closer and cheaper. Very disappointed.

Played yesterday on Father’s Day weekend. Course was nearly full and pace was great. Right around four hours. Layout is incredible and staff were extremely nice and helpful. Course was in pretty good shape (7.5-8/10), considering all the rain recently. If conditions were immaculate, they could charge $50+ more per round than they do. Anyway, overall experience warrants five stars.

Dont worry if you arent the straightest hitter in the world... this course is more than forgiving off the tee and has generous wide fairways. This golf course has a nice layout. Rolling terrain with territorial views -- not boring at all. Many of the bunkers are placed to make a higher, lofted approach necessary and interesting. It may be a seasonal problem, but the fairways at this time of year seemed beat up, and the transition areas look quite aged. Otherwise, the turf is in good shape. I also found that the areas where carts go on or off fairways are damaged or bare. The greens rolled well although there were some bare and damaged areas too. The tees were in good shape. Pace-of-play on a Tues afternoon was slow. For a dry, warm day I would have expected to be hitting off the turf on the range but no. Clubhouse and cart staff were ok at best. The courtesy staff at the 18th green was polite and appreciative of my choosing to play at Raspberry Falls. I thought the greens fees to be overpriced by 25% (my estimate) but there was no additional charge for the power cart although I did ask to get a push cart anyway - advertised but not available. Covid19 precautions were in place but only casually so. Id play here again but probably not at the price I paid.

Widely considered one of the best courses in the area, I was excited to get out here. It mostly lived up to expectations, the conditions are suffering from the difficult weather conditions experienced this summer so with that in mind here are my thoughts;Pros1. Very friendly and helpful staff across the board. The starter was informative, the pro regripped a club for me in like 20 mins pre tee time & the folks in the restaurant were very helpful also.2. The tee boxes and fairways are mostly in excellent condition all things considered. There are a number of patches on each fairway marked in white where the grass is dead/suffering, but you can just take your ball to one of the better areas.3. There are some spectacular tee shot visuals (3 pictured below).Cons1. They’d recently aerated the greens so they weren’t in optimal condition and were quite slow. I wish they had of flagged this & we could have pushed back out tee time a week or two. See photo for a visual.2. The bunkers are another victim of the weather and are pure clay in some parts. Additionally the rough, particularly around the fringes of the bunkers, is extremely punishing. I wouldn’t recommend this course if you’re not at least a bogey golfer, you’ll lose a ton of balls and won’t enjoy it.3. Pace of play was patchy, 4h40m on a Tuesday afternoon is outside my expectations. I get it on a Saturday, but really the marshals need to be proactive here. The punishing rough mentioned in #2 above means that lots of time is spent looking for golf balls with the knock on impact on pace.Overall I feel it was just about right at $59, I certainly wouldn’t be paying more than that given current conditions and the slow pace. I do look forward to giving it another shot in the fall when the turf has had a chance to recover and the greens are rolling true.

August conditions were difficult for many courses but RF needs to reinvest all the $100+ greens fees back into the course. This used to be one of the best public tracks in the area but the shape and appearance (broken bridge on 18) of the course today were just terrible.

Solid course. Fun layout and good mix of holes. Excellent finishing hole. Pace of play is good considering a packed tee sheet. A tiny overpriced for the condition of the course. Bunkers are dirt. Played here for the first time on 7/2/2020. $85 weekday summer rate. Decent layout but nothing spectacular for the price. Course is tight in spots and some greens are small. Lots of tall Heather on the course. Bring your A game! Pace of play way good - right at 4 hours with a full tee sheet. Course conditions questionable in spots. Some tee boxes uneven and in need of a more frequent rotation as there was an abundance of divots on many. Greens seemed to have a lot of unrepaired ball marks. Most premium courses go through and repair said marks on a daily basis. Even though pace was good there are a couple holes that are CPO and cause logjams (2 & 17). 18 backs up as well due the abundance of apparent scratch golfers that try to go for a tiny blind green in two from 240 yards out. (We had to wait prior to the tee for 8 other golfers who all tried the aforementioned ridiculous 2nd shot)

Review №17

Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. I kept hearing and reading reviews that the course was in terrible shape. I had an early morning tee time and played as a single. I found the conditions to be at LEAST average for a premium course in the height of VA summer. Yes, there was ONE teebox (gold/tips tee) that was just dirt. However, the rest were above average. Fairways and rough were all in good condition. This course is heavily bunkered and they all were in good shape. Note: fairway bunkers were the reddish claylike sand BY DESIGN.... So if youre thinking the fairway bunkers are in bad shape because no white fluffy greenside sand, youre missing the point. Yes, there were a handful of pitch marks on the green, but so do all the premium public courses (Westfields, Stonewall, ect). To be expected if youre not playing a country club. They rolled very true and reasonably fast considering last nights storm. Clever visual peripheral undulations fooled me a couple times, but fun/interesting greens and green surroundings.Update: played again yesterday - fairways had lots of spots that would be ground under repair, rough burnt, tee boxes in terrible shape, greens aerated and no heads up from pro shop, putting green closed. Amazed at how quickly the conditions went south.

June 28, 2020 - First round of the year at Raspberry after my shoulder injury last year. I dont know about the poor reviews Im reading from last year, but this place is a GEM. The layout is FIVE-STARS hands down. I played summer rules and hit all 14 fairways and did not have any problem with fairway lies. Greens were perfect, average speed, quite a bit slower than I remember which can turn this course into a brute if they get them fast. This is really a 4.5 star experience, I can deduct only due to the condition of the greenside bunkers which need sand and had no rakes (probably due to COVID) and the fairway bunkers, although one poster below thinks the natural dirt-like state of fairway bunkers is intentional......not sure about that but possible. The greenside bunkers are some of the most severe you will ever play, deep and steep, I was in two and couldnt see the top of the flagstick. I will play this course often since I live in Leesburg, will play at twi-light rates to avoid the summer heat, but its worth an $80 prime time rate too. Gary Player design is second to none. Tip my hat to you Mr. Player.

Should really be two and half stars and that is only because of the course layout and the friendliness of the staff. I am new to the area and saw a good deal on Supreme Golf so I booked the round. This is not a $100 a round golf course in its current condition; that is an absolute rip off. The driving range is mats only, the fairways are dead (most were ground under repair), the greens were burnt out (and recently aerated),there was very little sand in each bunker (some had standing water, it has not rained recently), and there was crab grass in what should be considered “the rough.” I was pretty disappointed overall. I would be willing to give this course another chance next summer but would not play it for anywhere north of $40 per round this year.

This used to be my favorite course in the area. Always lush, green, flawless and beautiful. It is not that way any longer my friends. The last time I was there ($105 rate) in Sept, the course was in absolutely atrocious shape. Burnt up greens, muddy/dry burnt fairways, crab grass EVERYWHERE, even in fairways and fringe. Worst course in the area now, even worse than a muni course in the heat of summer. I wont pay $20 to play this course any more, and the worst part is, the rates have not changed, and they will only warn you of course conditions once you arrive, thinking that giving you a free small bag of range balls makes up for the horrific conditions. Avoid at all costs for now, and check back in on the course conditions in a year or two. Lets hope it is straightened out by then. The lone star given is for the friendly staff, who are always great.

Im far from what I (or anyone) would call a GOOD golfer but I really enjoyed my time here this past weekend. The course is in great shape (its early in the season right now) and pace of play was pretty quick for the length of the course. Fairways are pretty wide so novices can have just as much fun as their more advanced playing partners (who will appreciate the length, difficulty of shots from the rough, and speed/undulation of the greens). We had a ton of rain the day before so it was a bit soggy, but drainage was good and most of the traps were dry by about 12 hours after the rain had stopped. This was likely the reason for the abnormal shortage in customers. Overall, I was expecting the worst and pleasantly surprised with the conditions. This is a relatively expensive course by my standards (not for this area though), but if you can get a deal its worth the money. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. You wont regret paying the little extra for what you get. (Additionally: thanks for the staffing of club concierge type services. Its a nice touch and makes you feel like your patronage is really valued. Nothing better than getting out of your car only to have someone pull up and ask if youd like to have your clubs taken to the range area for you!)

This is the first and last time I am playing here. I am not one to complain but I felt this was necessary. First thing I did was I asked the guy I checked in with if the course had anything crazy or exciting waiting for me. His response to that was that the course was really busy today. For the cost of the green fees($84) I was expecting the course to be one of the better courses I have played in a while. Man I was wrong. The course is in terrible condition with tons of places that are missing grass. The tee boxes were in horrible shape and the greens were just meh. Some of the back tee boxes seemed as if they had not been taken care of in weeks(lots of long grass). Just the overall condition of the course was lacking quite a bit. I understand we have had lots of rain and what not but I have played at much cheaper courses and they would blow this one out of the water. They got my money today but I will not step back into that clubhouse again. Im not posting this in hopes of getting a refund or a free pass(would give it away anyways). I just want people to not blow their money on this course but pay less and play somewhere better.

This is a great layout. Very fair course. With all the rain fairways and greens in top shape. The Tee boxes are a different story however. Many broken tees all over them. When the tees are mowed do they mow right over the broken tees? Several tee boxes were 60% full of non-repaired divots. With all the play it gets might want to consider building some extra tee boxes. Some sand traps also need more sand added but again with all the rain they they were 3 out of 5 stars.

Sadly the conditions are still horrible. Tee boxes are sometimes half dirt, and 3 and 18 are still long wispy rough. Not ideal to hit driver out of the rough. The fairways are good in certain areas and dried, cracked dirt on others. Greens are better than they were a couple of years ago but are still not good. Some of the bunkers are downright unplayable, some are in good shape, and a couple just need a little TLC. I know they had a tough year, everyone did. But this place is in the worst shape of any high-end track in the region. Its not even close. Course is still a great track. Most of it is in front of you. The routing and mix of holes are fantastic. A few stand out holes as well. The tee box on #3 has one of the best views in the area. It usually plays firm and fast and can be tough at times. Course is not walkable as there are a few long expanses between holes.Putting green is a joke and it has been for years. Too sloped and they cut the grass so tight that they have lost half the grass on it. Driving range is fine. Newish mats but they use the crates to store golf balls which is another annoyance. I have been here dozens of times and have never hit off the grass. Chipping green/bunker area is pretty good on the other side. People who work here are great overall. They seem to really enjoy their job. This place has fallen on tough times but I usually wind up back here at least once a year because its one of my favorite layouts. Ive heard a lot of great reviews regarding the golf course at Rasberry Falls, and unfortunately after my day out here, Ill admit that I was a bit disappointed. Many reviews mentioned the excellent service at this club, but the service I received was sub par at best. Although there was plenty of outside staff on hand during my return and after my round, no individuals asked to help with my bag. I put my bag on and off the cart myself. This isnt a big deal at most public clubs in the area, but when you have 3-4 outside staff available at a slow time on the course, taking golf bags, loading them on the cart, etc. should be considered bare minimum standards. In addition, the assistant in the golf shop was extremely slow. It took me 20 mins to pay for my round and purchase a dozen golfballs when there were no calls into the shop and I was the only person in the shop. With regards to the course, there are some great holes (mainly on the back nine). This is a course that often favors individuals who cut/fade the ball, so there are plenty of holes where you can get lucky if you dont hit it straight. The course was in good shape considering I played in the middle of July, however, I had some big issues when I noticed some big rocks (some the size of my fist) and garbage in a number of bunkers. To me, large rocks and stones in the trap are blatent oversights by the crews staff.Ill admit that the layout of the course is one of the better layouts in the area, however, the actual course and the service fell far below the reputation of this course.
