We are so grateful for a school focused on giving kids the absolute best in teachers, academics, creativity, and environment. In addition to beautiful and inviting classrooms, Destiny routinely provides outdoor exploration unlike any other school in our area. Our son can’t wait to get to school every day and is always filled with excitement to share and demonstrate the incredible things he learns (even basketball, volleyball, the names of the bones in the body!). When plant science was taught this year, he was outdoors with his hands in the school garden learning about germination. The small classroom size has enabled our son to not only excel in core academics, but learn to read music, play piano by ear, and paint like Monet, Pollack, and many others. The level of genuine passion for children and learning is felt every day at Destiny. With out a doubt, this school is having a positive impact on our son that will be felt for a lifetime! We do not know how we lucked into having this gem of school right here in our town. Highly recommend! Amazing!
My children absolutely love going to Destiny. The teachers and administration create a happy, positive and safe environment for learning. They place emphasis on the child and family. This school offers a lot of personal attention given the class sizes (relative to public school), great teachers, and education that includes not only the basics but languages, movement and art. My kids are thriving there. We highly recommend. If you are considering options for your child, take the time to see the school and talk to some of the parents.
Absolutely love Destiny school. I cant say enough good things about the school and its staff. We have done preschool, summer camps and now enrolled in the kindergarten program. My child has come out of her shell and thrived under the care of destiny school and its teachers. Their communication is great and they are so accommodative to you and your childs needs. I love their approach to education and can tell my child is learning so much from them. She genuinely enjoys learning and I thank destiny school for the care, attention and patience they show our children.
Its been a couple of years since my son attended. Every evening I look at a reminder of that year on the wall, a shadow box with my sons picture and his palm in bronze, a gift from the school at graduation. I just thought they Destiny was the kindest, most wonderful school either of my children ever attended. The staff was excellent. My son learned well. He was happy. And they pour their hearts into everything. The end of year play was off the hook. Fantastic experience. I think our experience was under the old director though, from the sound of it. I decided to post about our experience and will do so regardless of the fact that they seem to be having trouble now.
My children attended Destiny School of The Arts for over two years and we really enjoyed all that it had to offer. The teachers are fantastic and the new facility is great. Unfortunately, they have hired a new Director. She is the daughter of the Pastor whose church is affiliated with the school. Anytime a parent has had a complaint, she threatens to dismiss their children from her school. She is unprofessional, immature, and disrespectful. This has happened to many families including mine. She is clearly in over her head and incapable of acting in a professional manner. There are a lot of great choices for your preschool needs in Loudoun County and this used to be one of them. That is no longer the case. They will eventually come to their senses and replace the current Director because many families have had enough of her behavior and are taking their kids out of the school. Save yourself the headaches and look elsewhere.
I currently have a second grader at Destiny, and cant say enough good things about the school. It has been one of the most well rounded schools my children have ever been at. If you want your children to not only be educated in reading writing and math, but Spanish music and dance; this is the place for them.
If you are looking for a wholesome comminity school for your little one then you will love Destiny.
We couldnt be more thrilled with our experience at Destiny. My daughter has been in attendance for 2 years now - she completed the 2/3s program (started at the old location) and just recently the pre-k program. We are also sending her for kinder enrichment and are considering continuing her through elementary school. Its a creative learning-based environment, so for example, my daughter learned both Spanish and German during her art class. She can count to 50 in both, knows her colors in both, as well as some basic phrases. She learned this all while studying various artists through history and practicing with their preferred mediums. There is a huge focus on music as well. I watched my quiet daughter flourish into a confident and well-spoken girl who was able to express her thoughts and opinions in detail. She was getting up up early on school days because she was excited about going, and Ive always felt she was getting an excellent education because she came home excited about what she had learned. They have a beautiful facility and a brand new playground.I am also more than happy with the communication from her teachers and the administration. I have always received a prompt response to emails or voicemails and felt I could discuss any concerns I might have with openness. Thankfully, there really havent been any concerns, as the administration does an excellent job of planning appropriately and communicating effectively.
Jeff is 100% correct about the director, we have been given the run around twice from this director, first when the lost their lead teacher they made this whole preschool run (from what other parents say), which placed me number one on the waitlist, I toured last thursday afternoon with my husband was told an opening was now open for my daughter we agreed I would let them know my decision friday, I call friday morning and I told they will call me back, instead I get an e-mail from the director in the afternoon saying she gave my spot to another family on thursday! I am speechless that this happend, my 3.5 year was so excited and even with the change in staff we were going to give it a shot but after this happend, no way. Since this preschool is faith based I would have expected more, what the director did was incredibly shady and uncalled for and not something I would expect from a faith based.founded preschool. Keep in mind, like Jeff said this is a family run operation with the daughter as the director and the rest of the family running the church, if you have issues they will not get resolved.
