The Old Gwinnett County Courthouse is just a wonderful place to visit. whether you grab a lunch on a picnic table outside, or have a wedding in the yard, or enjoy the museum reading about Button Gwinnett, signer of the declaration of Independence, ... And how he died as governor of GA ....in a duel !!!!
My daughter got married in the courtroom upstairs. It was easily accessible with ample parking nearby. The guests loved how beautiful the entire venue was. We had 2 attendants that helped us find everything we needed for a fantastic day! For someone who wants to plan their own special event, this is a wonderful option!
The room is decorated with Christmas and looks gorgeous!
A great place to spend the afternoon with the family.
Great Veterans memorial museum located on the first floor of the courthouse. The guys there are great! So much memorabilia is packed in there!
Attended a wedding here. The wedding was very nice. The courthouse, nice, wasnt what I expected. I guess the fact that it had a room that apparently you can rent out for weddings, never knew that! A lot of history at this historic courthouse. Sadly, I dont have pictures to share.
If youre try to rent a county venue, be prepared for a challenge. The gatekeeper will ensure youre worthy of the quest! Information given over the phone proved inaccurate and led to a wasted 2 hour journey to the castle (Historic Courthouse). If the gatekeeper of the telephonic communication convinces you to continue your quest to the next steps, immediately request an appointment to reserve your desired venue. The keeper of the telephone is unable to perform anything more beyond telling riddles to confuse questers...
Beautiful lawn with lots of history! We love our Lawrenceville and its history!
I attend the Gwinnett Historical Society meetings with the wife in this building. The military museums are fantastic and a must see . Local historical history has been posted in and around the building from moonshining to a third of the county police being killed in one afternoon. A journal from Social Circle detailing daily events during the invasion of and destruction by the Vermin Yankees can be read in the Society publications. Each meeting a guest historical speaker gives a lecture; subjects have been, Indian removal, The Peachtree Trail to Fort Daniel and slaves in Gwinnett County. You will enjoy the Gwinnett Historical Society meetings.
Great place to take Christmas pictures. They have diffrent photo spots so you can take nice Christmas picture memories.
Has space for a dance party on the 2nd floor and we were able to enjoy with family and friends a good time.
This place is great and full of interesting pieces of history and artifacts
Beautiful square with amazing places to eat.
I did a wedding there, and all was great
Beautiful setting for my sons wedding!
Great outdoor lunch spot
Wonderful place and my daughter had a very nice renewal service
Balltown Co lots of restaurants and shops
Very very nice place!! Parking not good though.
I was the maid of honor for a wedding held at this venue. Beautiful space and lovely Christmas decorations. Communication from the venue could have been more clear and upfront. The staff the day-of was visibly unhappy to be there.
Nice, small and clean. free parking nearby and decently lit at night. right with resturants nearby
A great place to have a social event.
It is old which is why its historic. Old can be good and it has multiple history rooms. A good selection of military uniforms and items from all eras of America. Large archive on the second floor.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would! My wedding was ruined, the service was terrible and it’s a complete waste of money. I had to beg to get them to repair the walls that were peeling and clean the chairs when one of ladies told me they don’t even clean chairs! One lady that worked their was extremely rude to me, my guests & family. She had been rude the day before to me and yet they still had her to work my event. I was told different things by different people that work there so that caused so much confusion. This place doesn’t care about you or your event they only want your money. They will lie, be rude, not acknowledge the wrongdoing of giving misinformation by different employees, they will cut your event short. The exclusive package is a joke! We paid for the outside gazebo and it rained so we could not use it so guess what we were told we would not get our money back. The weather is outside of our control yet we paid for something that we didn’t even get to use. If you’re planning a wedding run far away from this place! If you want bad service, rude employees, lies and misinformation by all means go ahead. It’s not worth the time or money!
Discovered the war museum today in the courthouse. What an amazing treasure. Everyone should take the time to visit. My kids loved it.
The courthouse was very beautiful and spacious. I attended my cousin wedding here. Everything went very smoothly even with the alcohol served. Police officers there and the staff was very friendly and polite. They respected our culture and we had a very good time. The room is very spacious for a small to medium wedding. As an event planner the room could be stuffy for a large wedding.
Great experience friendly place. Nice people working there. Very informative.
Very beautiful place! The two ladies that helped me out were super amazing with giving me the tour, background of the courthouse and information that I needed. Sorry I didn’t get any pictures.
Very helpful, very friendly. They have a lot of information on other counties too, not just Gwinnett county. Maps, library, gifts, museum. And all the surrounding restaurants and stores. Go see Lawrenceville!
Inside are the most beautiful well preserved artifacts dealing with each war. It is a great honor to read about the service men and women who sacrifice their lives. It is also a great honor to have the their love ones share their loves ones medals and uniform with the museum. A veteran who volunteered was in the Cold War was very helpful in talking to us about the different weapons. So amazing, historical and very educational. Thank you.
Good location. Nice decor
Nice venue, just be sure to plan for parking because theres not a lot of options close to the building. The elevator was a big help for loading equipment in and out. Private function so didnt really get to explore. The staff was nice however
My friend got married there, then they turned it over to host the reception. It was a beautiful space and a great alternative if you need a lovely historic venue not in a church.
I love downtown Lawrenceville and they have really given it a face lift over the years.
Had our wedding here! Loved everything about it. It was perfect for a small intimate wedding with 30 guests. The only reason I knocked off a star is because the staff is somewhat rude. They initially left a poor impression with us when we were forced to wait an hour after our scheduled appointment.
It has a taste of racism going on in this building; from the people running it to some of the historical items.
Great place. Has a museum inside for history lovers. I just went for Christmas pictures. They decorate outside each year. The tree is so beautiful
I remember this place from being a little girl. The history here alone makes this a great place.
Perfect for special events a great location.
Beautiful building!! I miss downtown Lawrenceville. It was my home for many years.
A nice place to visit and learn about local history.
Love the tree lighting!
Beautiful Courthouse, and looks even better on the inside. Many small events take place right on the lawn in front of the court house, including the big beautiful Christmas tree that is displayed near Christmas time.
Wonderful wedding experience! I loved everything about my intimate day. The ladies at the courthouse did a beautiful job decorating and made sure I was taken care of. I couldnt be more happy!
Very friendly people and I have the best judge for my divorce
Awesome local landmark. Visited at Christmastime to have my childs picture taken with Santa. Staff was not organized and left families waiting in the rain. 5 stars to the building, not the staff.
I got married there in Dec 2013 and it was PERFECT! We wanted a very small intimate wedding with only our parents and my sister.....I was very surprised at how affordable the smaller intimate room was. It seated about 20, way more then we needed and they decorated the whole thing!! I was able to take beautiful pictures around the premises, inside and out. They even wrote our names on the signs and put out flowers. I recommend this place even for big weddings since they have a big open room on the upper floor. I had a fantastic time with great memories!
We are there to see Santa loke every year, is a magical place.
As a wedding planner I have had to interact with a lot of places. The people here are very nice and helpful. They even have a gazebo that can be used for a ceremony.
It houses a Civil War Museum with hundreds upon hundreds of artifacts, presented and described by many of the countrys top scholars of that period in our history.
Beautiful historic courthouse in the heart of downtown Lawrenceville. The interior features several exhibits and the outside is decorated every holiday season
Beautiful day in Lawrenceville
Its a beautiful building surrounded of green public spaces. Its a good place to take a walk and enjoy a cool afternoon
Very good venue for a gala or dinner gathering. Caterer was not up to par. But that had nothing to do with the facility.
Took kids for a scavenger hunt the county was having and they had fun with history. Keep up programs like this.
We attended a wedding. It was beautiful! This is an awesome venue! We loved it!
Great historical venue for a wedding.
When looking at oil paintings come too find out very few problely only paintinv the artist couldnt sell i was disappointed.im also a oil painter myself
A nice wedding and reception venue. Nice and helpful staff.
Fantastic place to take the kids to enjoy a free outing.
They have a small museum inside, staff is friendly and you can host events here
Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The highlight of our visit was the veterans memorial Lawranceville, GA best bet secret!
This was a fun venue for a private event. There could be more parking and bathrooms, but the staff is kind and it is pretty.
Nice place. Great little park outside that you can relax in.
Your square is poorly designed and is not made for 18-wheelers how do you expect to get deliveries when its hard to make it through it
Well kept, clean environment, theres art along the walls. Free veterans museum and it has a nice air of it.
The county has nice family events there.
Beautiful place to sit and have a coffee
Great place for events.
There is a veterans museum inside with some amazing artifacts. Definitely worth a visit.
Pretty decorations on a town square. Great restaurants and shops galore.
Great place for an event or wedding!Helpful staff and beautiful building
Went there for a job meeting, its ok.
Beautiful venue. I suggest you checkout the veterans museum if your in the area its full of military history .
Part museum, part rentable public venue, the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse is a lot more surprising on the inside than you might expect. The collection of war memorabilia spans from the Civil War all the way through Korea and Vietnam, all neatly tagged and well displayed in glass cases. The old courtrooms upstairs provide an excellent place for wedding photography or receptions, and the grounds themselves directly in the middle of scenic Lawrenceville host occasional musical events in the ever present gazebo.
A beautiful historic building in the heart of Lawrencevile, GA. Amazing place to host a wedding or any other family or corporate event.
My company had our Christmas party here and it was a great environment gave you that small town feel in as big city.
Called to get some information about their wedding options and made an appointment to tour the facility. The day of my appointment I waited in the hallway while one of the staff was finishing up with another couple. 15 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start she finally acknowledges me just to tell me she doesn’t have my appointment on her calander. Finally she gives me the tour I waited over 30 minutes for. The facility itself is okay for a wedding but the staff did not seem very organized and in my opinion they nickel and dime you. I feel linenes (at least basic linens) should be included in your rental! I was not very impressed and you may want to call and confirm your appointment before going to make sure they have it on their “calander”. The lady even showed me her calander and I swear I saw my name on it but I was ready to leave at that point and didn’t want to deal with her any further.
Beautiful Christmas decorations suitable for pics with the Baby Love
Beautiful facility. Attended a wedding here and it is perfect for a small to mid sized wedding.
The most beautiful place in GA
I got married here on 1/18/18! Very nice venue for weddings.
Great place to gather with friends and walk around
Beautiful venue for the wedding I attended
Mean staff. Refused to set up for the event. Even after the contract said they were supposed to do the set up.They also refused to let me in for the set up 5 minutes before the scheduled time.it was raining outside and I wanted to put my decorations inside the building 5 minutes before the start time, they refused and locked me and my friends outside.
Absolutely the best! Reverend Thomas Johnson
Amazingly beautiful event venue.
We had our wedding booked there for about a year in advance. I found out about 4 months before my wedding that they had booked a rehearsal only 30 min before the start of my wedding. It was actually booked while my upstairs rental was active... This meant we would be sharing the property! I went to complain about the mix up and ask if they could add more time to the end of our rental if her event pushed mine later. They told me it is our venue and we can rent it out how we like and will not give you more time they then told me they hoped I would find another venue so they didnt have to deal with someone who was so unreasonable. I am by no means a Bridezilla but I did feel like they had double booked our events (every other venue I have talked to agrees with this) I was talked down to, repeatedly insulted and treated like my event was less important because it was smaller and bringing them less revenue.I know most brides are thinking its the cheapest place in town but when you factor all your linens, chairs, bartender set up, fees you pay to have someone clean up, fees for a police officer, fees for processing and all the other hidden fees.... THEN factor in that you will do all your set up yourself, the major restrictions on all the vendors you choose, the lack of privicy the venue provides and the Absolute rudeness of the female staff (the actual people you will be dealing with day of) then youll find that it IS NOT WORTH IT!We ended up breaking our contract and going with the Yancy House and we LOVE them! They dont charge for chairs or linens and have no hidden fees. We even saved $1,000 and the hassle of doing all the set up! I lost half my deposit plus a BS 26$ processing fee but it was well worth it not to have to have my wedding at the Courthouse!
Beautiful wedding venue
A civil war memorial museum, this one is surrounded by trees.
I photographed a wedding here once and it was a very nice location.
Watched some friends get married here. Nice event space
