Cool place to see a show. Good bands, pretty good price on bevs. Could use some TLC, but otherwise good. Cant wait till things are actually open again. Nothing playing right now.
The staff is always helpful and friendly. I volunteer to do photography for the River City Rock Camp where young kids learn how to play in a rock band. The Granada gives them the opportunity to play at a popular venue. Pretty awesome of them to host this event. Its one of the many things that makes Lawrence a cool place to live. We have local companies that help make this happen and the Granada is one of them.
The Granada is one of the best venues Ive ever been. They consistently have amazing artist coming. The lay out is also perfect even when it is crowded. There is different levels so that you are never overwhelmed by others height. I highly recommend that you come to at least one show.
Gross atmosphere & have heard nothing but horrible things from employees about owner
It do be a little dirty, but its got good bands coming
No seats to sit down if you get tired watching a show. I dont like how you cant buy a bottle of water and leave with it. I get its not the bar tenders rule but we werent drinking. We just wanted water bottles for the ride home
I found this venue to be pretty standard compared to typical places. Being from Omaha, NE, I would compare it to attending a show at Sokol Auditorium but perhaps a little smaller, with a floor layout more like the Slowdown. Maybe Im just used to it but I didnt think the place was particularly dirty, just old and in need of a little TLC. The sound was decent but not overwhelmingly amazing. The drinks were at a fantastic price point so Im not sure why others say it was super expensive. We got tequila sunrises for 4 bucks a piece which is a steal compared to the 8+ we were expecting to pay. Someone pointed out to us that it was technically a college campus so perhaps thats where the expectation comes from... anyway, I was happy with my experience for the most part. Still not quite sure why the staff had us get numbers for a general admission show... they said it was in case a mob screwed up the lines or whatever but to me it defeats the purpose of general admission. I can imagine Id go there often for shows if I was local. Will possibly watch them for tours after seeing what acts theyve pulled to play there historically. Overall a decent experience. Id feel safe going there alone. The staff were perfectly decent to us so I really have no complaints about the venue for what it is.
Electric Guest was amazing! They were so stoked to play a sold out show on a Wednesday in 30 degree weather.
So, last night was my first time ever visiting the Granada. I read the reviews first before I made the decision to come out to the Eric Bellinger concert. I was skeptical because many reviews said there was no a/c, it smelled and the staff was rude. Let me start by saying I didn’t experience any of that. Upon walking in, the air was nice and cool. Being that it was 99 degrees outside, I was happy about that. There was no smell and the staff was friendly, very welcoming. Yes, there is a dress code, the website has it posted so if you don’t read it beforehand and you come out to the Granada with a prohibited item, you’ll be turned away. The venue is small enough for an intimate event. It allows the guests to get close to the performer, which I loved so much. I enjoyed my night and it was worth the 1 hour drive. I’ll be back soon!
I saw Cavetown there, and it was BY FAR so much better than the Sprint Center. The intimacy of the venue made the entire night! It was easy to get near the front, and even though its mainly all standing, I would pick this place over a larger venue anytime!
Been to this venue twice (and travelled 5hr both times). Saw Tyler the Creator and Odd Future in 2011 and Converge and Neurosis in 2018. Both very excellent shows. The sound quality is truly excellent. I like the small venue vibe, always have. The restrooms were revolting, though. Both concerts were great fun and extremely energetic. I do recommend seeing a band here that you like.
Always a great venue, love the environment, super relaxed, staff is always very helpful.
Awesome venue, awesome staff! Good drink prices and they actually make your drink decently stiff unlike most other venues Ive been too. Will definitely go back!
Always a fun time, great ticket prices. Recommend going in for tickets as you dont have to pay the convenience fee.
Most amazing time tonight. I still have the chills. Sound system is awesome in there also.
If they had some fixed seating in the GA area, it would do a lot for return custom from Gen X and Boomers, who have more disposable income for such events. Decent venue otherwise.
Always kicking people out over little stuff. Let everyone in without checking id till these three females came up and told them they can’t get in without id
The Famous Granada is always fabulous, KRS-ONE WAS AMAZING! He was my first concert at 12 & what I experienced at his show 8/24/19 was like no other & Concerts is my favorite hobby! After the show he greeted every single fan & took FREE PICS W/ UNHEARD OF!!! REAL & AUTHENTIC THE #1 REALIST TEACHER LYRICIST IN THE MUSIC GAME! A LIVING LEGEND GRACED THE STAGE AT THE ONE & ONLY GRANADA!! If youve never been you are missing out! Get your tickets
Smaller venue with great sound. Perfect for seeing up and comers and national acts in an intimate setting. Standing room only but worth it.
Went for a Tech N9ne concert and had one of the best experiences ever. Perfect venue to make some new friends.
One of my favorite music venue
I always love going to Concerts at this venue.
I had a great time seeing one of my favorite bands here!
Really strong drinks and a really great overall venue
If you want to really experience the band of your choice: This place is perfect. Small crowd, dont have to try and look over peoples shoulders. Saw In Flames, my favorite band, feels like front and more to your liking cause its small theater. Love it.
Pretty decent space for concerts, etc. It looks a little run-down, but even the restrooms were relatively clean for such a place.
Love the scenery an amazing activities that go on. Amazing concerts as well. Been going to Granada since i was a little girl
Great venue with some awesome shows and talents performing live monthly. Right on a main street full of restaurants and bars, everything is within walking distance and outdoor smoking is permitted. Venue is highly recommended by me.
Ive heard the state of this venue wasnt the greatest and that is not wrong. Once you get past the look and smell its not all that bad though.
Ive been to numerous shows at the Granada over the years. This venue usually hosts some pretty good acts, depending on your preferences. 2 bars with a decent selection and ok prices. Nothing too special about it though - stage ️ space to stand and watch the show ️ beverages available ️ decent sound system ️
Emo Nite was amazing! There was a wonderful group of people there that just fed into the fun. I highly recommend going.
Psychedelic Furs! Great show and awesome venue.
Great venue for any concert. Easily accessible and has a wide range if restaurants surrounding it.
Always a fun time with great shows! My only complaint is drinks on the floor that get tossed or spilled constantly and hinders people from moving or moshing.
Great little venue
I loved this place went there for cavetown concert. I then date gurl.
Nice venue, has lower and upper standing areas, concessions, and a merchandise booth for bands
Great venue for live music! Because there is no actual seating, shows are always general admission, so you can usually find your favorite spot to watch a band from, whether its right in front of the stage, or behind the railing on the slightly elevated area in front of the well stocked bar. Playing a gig there is also a great experience with a top notch sound system, lighting, and techs to run it all. The only thing that would make the place better would be....PIZZA!
Great place to see a show. Staff is always great.
The hall is way too small for a concert venue. During the summer the air doesnt circulate well and many people were carried out from heat exhaustion.
Bartender charged me double for a single shot because “I took too long to retrieve my ID from my friends bag” and I was also drugged here. When I was shown the video clip from that night, AN ENTIRE WEEK LATER, they refused to do anything about the two guys who are SHOWN in the video adding to my drink because HIS FRIEND didn’t show his face. Also, never clean, always filthy, good luck using the bathrooms lmao
Fun concert venue
Good sound, small, intimate venue. Reasonable beer selection and prices.
Great venue for a great show(VNV NATION) but could d3f need some work on the inside esp the Ceiling.
Cozy venue but too small and crowded
Its so nice, its a real chill local venue.
Girls Rock Lawrence !!!!!!People Rock Lawrence. The Granada. Iconic.
Always a great place for a show! Been going for 15 years
Very wholesome show!
A little grungy and humid. Employee ripped water bottle out of my wife’s hand because she about to leave the venue with it...not sure what the deal was with that. Bathrooms had no lights and everything was sticky but hey, Music was great.
I saw Buckethead here and it was one of the. Eat shows I have ever seen, here is some pictures I got of him while there. Pleanty of room in the concert hall and amazing acoustics.
Never been disappointed with any of the concerts Ive been to here.
Went to a concert, Green Chief and The Band Perry. Great concert!! I would expect some seating, and maybe some nicer flooring. Its kind of an abandoned theater theme, I guess. But we had a great time, and it was relatively inexpensive....
Great show by Haley Reinhart. The sound at The Granada was fantastic with the sound board being run by Phil Haleys tour manager. The staff at the Granada were great especially the bar staff.
Its an amazing experience, great place.
Great small venue. Hasnt changed in a decade. Just know that rock shows will be hot and loud.
This venue is fairly small, and not the most beautiful inside. However, most venues arent! The staff was very nice and helpful. Security did a great job with warning people of on coming crowd surfers, and they did a great job with catching said crowd surfers.
Dilapidated old theater in serious need of repair. Sound quality was solid. Decent bar selection and pricing for a venue.
Love this venue. Nice intimate place for concerts. It was so hot though.
Saw Watsky in concert and it was amazing! The lightning and sound is perfect, the pit is fantastic. The back spots are a little iffy, but still really cool! Also the staff are really kind and are generally really awesome people! If you can go see a concert here.
Drinks are to expensive. Also there shouldnt be a minor fee if I already bought tickets to an event.
One of my all time favorite venues for a concert. Excellent staff and always clean. Its small but that just makes the concert experience more intimate. There is no bad spot in the house when it comes to where you stand. There is a balcony, a small pit area in front of the stage and a larger open space just above the pit with a great view.
Very Professional Set Up. Great Bar right next to building with great Jerk Chicken.
I was pleasantly surprised that the adult beverages were affordable. They really hit the spot quite nicely.
Went and seen ICP tonite. They was awesome. All the staff at the Granada were super nice. If I ever come back to Lawrence for a show it will be there again.
Standing room only . Not great visibility.. especially if tall people stand in front
Tech9 was incredible
Concert was great could of used some seating..
The place smelled like 50 people with bad breath, spat on a mirror and left it. But the music was loud and the venue was awesome. Would definitely return.
Never a full moment at this place. It was like a second home when I was growing up. Great staff and great performances.
Super Dope. First time there, for my absolute favorite Rapper DMX. I had a Absolute Blast!!!!
Stickey floors but great shows.
The best show Ive seen there
Security was annoying and pushy even though other people were still standing around and I wanted a second go at the merch stand. Bartender was awesome. Amazing show.
Ive been going to concerts here for over 10 years and its amazing every single time. The staff they have working these events are phenomenal and the venue is big enough to attract some really talented bands/singers but its still small enough to give the concerts a very personal feel to them. My friends and I have made some great memories here over the years. If youve never been, you need to do yourself a favor and make it happen.
Just saw GHOSTEMANE there, and it was awesome!
Huge concert goer, been to many, many venues - this may take the crown for the worst.First, we had purchased early entry VIP. Less than 72 hours prior, the early entry details were released - with firm guidance that 6p was the time to arrive/enter - and being late could result in the early entry not happening. After email conversation, noting my concern we may be a bit late due to weather and a 250 Mile drive - I was told very ambiguously that I was either on time or may not be able to partake in early entry activity. After rushing, we were only 15 minutes late (615p) - only to find early entry hadnt even started and wed have to wait another 45 before it did, which was 7p - the official doors opening for general admission.Outside of the above, the management was absolutely clueless as to how the operations for this show should be flowing and even the manager of the facility had no idea. They were very rude and inconsiderate of the fact we had paid MORE to actually ENTER EARLY!The establishment was so mismanaged, the security check was extremely unorganized and I witnessed at least several folks who entered without being wanded, as again - operations were clueless. Even a member of the artists team made a comment on how awful the venue was managed.Venue itself is pretty small, but I did like the setup of the multiple levels. Sound accoustics wasnt the greatest but it did the job.My recommendation - drive the extra hour or two to the NEXT closest venue and avoid going to a show here at all costs!
Pretty cool spot in a really neat building. Drinks were priced fair and there was plenty of room.
Awesome concert venue for a college town. Brings in many big name rock, pop, hip-hop, and indie acts that you couldnt otherwise find in an area overrun by country music. Easily accessible bar with reasonable prices, large restrooms. Very well laid out.
This was my first time to this venue and saw Trivium. I had heard lots of mixed opinions about this place from many people and a lot werent the best. From my experience with this concert, we were inside the venue pretty quickly after the doors opened and we were able to walk right up and claim a spot at the rail on the elevated section just feet from the stage. The acoustics were great, being right there up close and personal to the band was nice too. There was a lot of energy in the crowd and it was just a great experience. The staff was great that I dealt with. My daughter ordered a soda and it didnt taste right, the staff used the other drink gun when I returned, poured me a sample to make sure it was better and swapped out drinks no problems. We got there early and there was parking close by and plenty of food places around so grabbed something to have while in line outside waiting on doors to open. In all I would have no problem going to see another concert here.
One of the absolute best places to see a concert in Lawrence. It is a small venue with a split viewing area 20 feet from the stage. This provides a nice close view of a band, even if you do not feel like pressing the stage. Super nice staff with generous pours of liquor at the bars..
Went and saw NF. Was one of the best shows iv seen this year. Great experience and had alot of fun. Got really hot in there though. Lots of people.
Fun and simple place for a concert
Its a two tiered room so you can actually see over the bottom crowd, which is nice. The bathrooms were pretty clean also. Good drink prices. It is pretty small or I would give it a 5.
DMX concert was dope venue on point best time I have had in a while, I will be back
The Granasty lives up to its name. Bartenders refuse to supply water until after the show, forcing you to fill your beer cup in the urine-reeking bathroom. Or you can pay a few dollars to create yet more plastic bottles. Neither option is particularly acceptable. The stage views are poor from most angles because the stage isnt high enough and the floor isnt steep enough.
