It is a great small playhouses. I have been there several times and love the lay out. The play I have seen there are top notch.
Its a cute little local theather!Tickets are very affordable and the shows are entertaining, the actors are pretty good! Definitely something fun to do on the weekends! But get there early because seats are not assigned.
Early November is a dead zone for plays so my sister and I went here to see Afflicted: Daughters of Salem. The venue was surprisingly small but charming. They had cheap snacks. The acting was actually pretty good - didnt particularly like the choice of play, though. If it was made to make the girls seem redeemable, it did a terrible job. Hysterically, the audience said nay when asked if Abigail and Betty should be saved.
Its small but quaint. The play was excellent. I loved the seating and the intimacy of it.
Intimate, welcoming venue. Great shows, friendly staff.
Best community theater in a historic venue. And very affordable.
I go here on the regular nice shows once staff
Fantastic venue for wonderful local community theatre dine top notch!
This is a small but inviting playhouse with very good local actors. It is well worth attending.
Small space but the actors really captivate the audience with their incredible performances
Nice small theatre. Great acting.
Great shows! Hardworking staff and crew. Talented actors. Its hard to believe that all this wonderful is so accessible and affordable.
Our seats were comfortable, our sightlines were unobstructed, and the people at the concession stand were friendly and helpful. But expect performers (as well as set, costume and lighting design) to be amateur.
Great place for artistic expressions. And great plays!
I visited play Oliver yesterday....my experience was simply ok.... nothing special. I must say they should have a larger theater. That place is way way too small. Staff was very pleasant for what its worth. I wouldnt recommend.
Always time well spent, tonights performance of Jekyll and Hyde was beyond excellent. Superb singers and acting.
Cozy venue! Talented local players. We saw two plays here so far and plan to go back for more!
Nice intimate local theatre. They do a good job, one of the better community theatres around.
This is a small community theatre. Shows can be hit or miss. But its great to see what the community produces.
Great community theater! Saw One Flew Over the CooCoos Nest and really enjoyed it. It is a small place that packs alot of theater into a small space! Comfortable seats and a very friendly staff would definitely recommend!
Really enjoyed the show.
A neighborhood theatre in a storefront. Small yet well equipped; the ensemble was professional yet very friendly. Good production quality.
Great quaint performance theater that will make you feel like youre part of the show
Here is a D.C. jewel: Don’t miss the opportunity for intimate and immediate connection with stage and players that this small venue provides. Laurel Mill Playhouse is fine regional theater, where regional means talent from across the DC metro area: actors and directors who flock to auditions and who take roles because they love theater and are willing to sacrifice income. From Shakespeare to Sondheim and beyond, this tiny stage seems always to yield something miraculous. Bravo! (Melissa Holland, Laurel)
We saw Man of La Mancha here. The house is small and cozy, but I was impressed with how much set/scenery they were able to get on their seemingly small stage, including a large cast! The show was very well done. There isnt a ton of nearby parking, however.
Every show I have seen here has been amazing. They are able to accomplish so much with so little. I have always enjoyed smaller theatres. They provide a more intimate feeling with the show. I always try and see whatever new show they are putting together. I am looking forward to Happy Hollandaise on December 2nd.
Seats were a bit crowded and uncomfortable but show Oliver was good.
Cute little theatre with old but comfortable seating. Small parking lot yards from the theatre make parking easy.
Very limited, uncomfortable seating.
Small, quaint playhouse, but its so Cute! The play was amazing and so was the service.
Lovely and very well done neighborhood theatre
Small venue, fun show.
Act 1, on Sunday, 19 October, 2014, around noon, we purchased two tickets to attend the 2pm (and final) show of For Colored Girls at the Laurel Mill Playhouse. During the conversation, we were told that to guarantee our seats we would need to pay with a credit card. So we paid with a credit card and mistakenly assumed that “our” tickets/seats were guaranteed.Act 2, we arrived at the theatre about 2:11pm only to be told that no, our seats were not guaranteed, but had been given away (sold!) at 2pm. We were also told that no seats that were available at show time were saved, but were sold as well (which obviously as you will see later, was a lie). We demanded to see the director who we were told was in charge, but of course he, at the time was directing the show. We asked to see the person who sold us the tickets, but no one knew who he was (Michael?). So of course we demanded a refund only to be told that the person at the box office had nothing to do with the money? She collected it, so how does she all of a sudden not have anything to do with the money?Act 3, in walks two ladies behind us (later than us) who said they had a relative in the show and they had someone save seats for them. The box office attendant went in and found that yes someone was holding two seats for them. Could these possibly have been our two paid for seats? And when she returned, she thrust $40 in my hand, pretended as if we disappeared, and as we were leaving, she allowed the later ladies into the theatre.I was looking forward to this play but most likely will never return to the Laurel Mill Playhouse because THE STAFF IS INCOMPETENT AND THEY ARE ALSO LIARS. For Colored Girls was obviously not for this ‘colored girl’ or her man. Its situations like this that make colored girls consider suicide because the rainbow is never enough. I rate this experience zero stars but had to give it 1 to publish.
Small but nice
Great shows
Great little Playhouse
